Loved that there's a new location on this side of town! We've tried a few things from their original location so we decided to reorder some of our fav. The shrimp patty was a little unevenly salted where some bites were much saltier than other. The Kaya bun is incredible - the coconut and pandan flavor really comes through and it's not too sweet! We also got the Gyeranbbang which was yummy flavor wise but I wish the egg was runnier! Also really loved the space! I feel like the more shops will pop up the more fun that whole area will be. read more

Breadbelly is a hidden gem! It's at a beautiful location in dogpatch with delicious Asian inspired pastries. I loved the vibe of the place, I recommend either picking it up so you can heat the items you want or having it in their outside seating area. Finished a run at the new location of the famous Richmond District staple, Breadbelly! Much as I had hoped, compared to its constantly busy other location, the new spot had no line and allowed me to walk right up and order some delicious treats! Normally, I will try one of their coffee based or other hot beverages but today I was feeling understandably parched so opted for a watermelon lychee black tea, which, while sweet, was exceedingly refreshing! I also indulgently added a honey walnut shrimp sandwich, which I was not sure how they would pull off, but sounded delicious. I should not have been skeptical as it came out as a brioche bun with tangy honey sauce and a large breaded fried shrimp patty! I'm clocking in at an alarming $22, I certainly can't fault the flavor one bit! New craving unlocked... The space is also pretty unique being one of the newly renovated pier buildings in the dogpatch. There are several other businesses in the same building, including some indoor tennis courts, standard deviant brewing, a motorcycle dealership, and there's still room for Moore. As it stands, there is plenty of parking and plenty of indoor seating in the common area behind the bakery. Also, in comparison to their other shop, there are windows all around it, and you can see in to watch the magic happen. Overall, it was a very encouraging visit and I can't wait to return! read more

Happened to be in the dogpatch neighborhood on the weekend and decided to try this place out since I had bookmarked it for a while. This new breadbelly location is in the same building as bay padel. It has a minimalistic vibe with open kitchen and simple decor. There was a short wait on a late Saturday morning and some of the menu items had already been sold out. I was most excited to try the kata toast but was a bit disappointed when I opened the box since it didn't quite match what I had seen in photos. It was also a little too sweet for my taste. However, the egg salad bunwich and watermelon iced tea were both delicious and would recommend. read more

Visited on a Saturday around 10am, short line with another 3 guest ahead of me but a longer que of about 8 did start to form after I arrived, so expect a bit of a wait. Drink: oatmeal latte - solid, nice creamy foam with a bit of espresso, waited less than 5 minutes for my drink after ordering Food: Not ube tart - really good, great crisp pastry, sweet potato custard had a balanced sweetness, the shaved salted egg yolk added a little savory contrast, toasted meringue added a little indulgence to the dessert Kaya Bun - solid, bun was nice and fluffy, loved the crunchy matcha almond cookie topping, creamy kaya custard was good, just wished there was more of it for a better ratio balance of bun to filling Service was excellent, asked if I needed napkins or utensils for my order, food was packed quickly, overall felt warm and attentive. So glad there is a breadbelly on the east side of the city, love that this location has more space and seating outside. I love this new location! It's big, comfortable, and the parking is easy to find. They're located inside of this warehouse and they share the space with a few other businesses. They have their own dedicated outdoor seating but there's also a bunch of tables towards the back, inside the communal warehouse area. The food was pretty pricey, my three items were around $50 but it was absolutely delicious and worth it as a treat occasionally! They have a huge staff and they're all super kind. The food did take ~20 minutes after ordering so definitely keep that in mind if you're in a rush. The pandesal sausage sandwich was delicious. You could tell that the pandesal was baked fresh and everything in the sandwich was house made. The toast had a super thick and generous layer of kaya spread on it and the bread itself was super soft. We also got a black sesame latte and the black sesame latte was super strong. We got the cold Yuzu Juice Espresso, Drip Coffee, Chocolate Miso Entremet and Orange Croissant. TLDR: decent taste, way too expensive for what you get and doesn't taste that much better than other places to be worth the price. Chocolate Miso Entremet: $12, very pretty on the outside, could not taste the secret sauce miso because it was dominated by chocolate or just not present. Did not taste better than the chocolate cakes at whole foods. Orange Croissant: $10 Yummy, liked the orange jam (but it was concentrated on one end of the croissant), good crumbles and frangipane. Pastry did not taste the freshest. Prefer the almond croissant at Arsicault. Yuzu Espresso: $8.50 actually really nice taste. It's an espresso mixed in with a yuzu flavored sparkling water. Came here as a plan B after our initial San Francisco plans fell flat as a result of the long line. This location of Breadbelly is located in a strange part of town (there were a lot of industrial looking buildings in the area and is inside of a somewhat empty mall-like area) but was spacious and had We got the gyeranbang and the not-ube tart. The gyeranbang was mediocre, but the not-ube tart was delicious enough to make up for its mediocrity. It had the perfect balance of flavor and texture, and was sweet enough to be satisfying while also maintaining the natural flavor of purple yam. Overall, an interesting experience. I would not recommend the gyeranbang to anyone but the not-ube tart is definitely worth the drive to San Francisco and the struggle to find decent parking. read more

Well, I thought I gave a Breadbelly review but maybe I didn't so here it is again. What an amazing place! We went to the new one in the Dog patch at Pier 50 or something like that. The parking is OK not great but we were able to find a space the inside. The restaurant is so beautiful. The display cases are jam filled with the most beautiful things actually I shouldn't say jammed-- that sounds sloppy they're so neatly displayed, but they're very plentiful so I appreciated that we got a lot of things to have there to go including the Kaya bread, milk bread with the most fantastic butter I've ever tasted it was my favorite thing, breakfast sandwich, ham and cheese sandwich, shrimp sandwich, latte, which was so good, fresh squeezed orange and carrot juice so good. I couldn't believe how good the Basque cheesecake was. Oh my gosh we loved it. The service was impeccable. The guy that worked at the register was so kind a little bit hard to understand but really nice. We just loved it there and it was fun to watch the paddle Ballers. read more

We drove all the way from the Peninsula to check out Breadbelly's new location on a Sunday, arriving around 12:50 PM. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed to find that all their pastries were already sold out! As big fans of their original Richmond District spot, we were really hoping to try some. All that was left were sandwiches, small bites, cookies, and drinks. Despite the pastry disappointment, the new location itself is beautiful. It boasts tall ceilings and is set in what feels like a redeveloped industrial area near the bay. Parking was easy, which is always a plus, and the outdoor table turnover was quick. Even with ~10 people in line, it moved at a good pace, and we were able to grab a seat by the time we placed our order. We ended up sharing a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. For drinks, we tried a blueberry lassi and the watermelon iced black tea. The iced tea was particularly refreshing and a personal favorite! We also grabbed a couple of cookies: the almond with jam and the black sesame. Everything we ordered was yummy, which certainly helped make up for missing out on the pastries. This is a great new addition to the Dogpatch area, and it's awesome to see the acclaimed Breadbelly get a second location! They serve creative, pastries, not your typical run of the mill croissants and such. I've tried a lot here, but I find myself coming back for the Korean cornbread (gyeranbbang) and egg salad bunwich. I find quite a few of their drinks to be too sweet for my taste, but a Matcha latte is pretty solid. After having tried a lot of their pastries, even though the kaya toast (not bun) is a deservingly popular #1 choice for most, I find myself being happiest with their savory options. read more

I get the hype. I've lived in San Francisco for 5 years and I'm fully aware that we have some of the best bakeries in the world, but Breadbelly has taken it to the next level with having such unique and flavorful treats. And on top of it all, they are just so beautiful. The kaya bun is the one I keep thinking about and am already planning a visit this week to go back for it. I also loved the Blueberry Croissant Tart. It's not often you can go to a bakery that totally crushes it both on sweet and savory. And has incredible baristas. The Clement Street location has great outdoor seating and the workers are so sweet. We went on a sunny day to pick up our large order and I wished we had time to enjoy the space a bit more. I was surprised that they had opened up another location in Dogpatch, so I decided to go check it out with a friend. It's located inside a warehouse and was not the most welcoming for first impression. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but they don't offer wifi and the server told us to ask the Bay Padel employee for that instead. Since they are right next to the pickleball courts, it's not the best environment to do work as it's hard to concentrate and does get loud. As for food and drinks, we went with the black sesame and matcha cappuccino, breakfast sandwich, and kaya toast. The drinks were disappointing, especially the black sesame cappuccino. It tasted burnt (may be due to over-extracted espresso) and not like black sesame like we were hoping. The matcha cappuccino was not strong enough for my liking and tasted a bit watery as well. The breakfast sandwich and kaya toast were good and we enjoyed it more than the drinks. Both were very filling and a good balance of flavors. Next time, I would want to try their coffee drinks and pastries that they have on display. read more

Woohoo!! The day has finally come! When the sign read "Opening this Summer", how awesome is it that they literally opened on the first day of summer! Currently open this weekend and next weekend as soft launch before officially opening on July 5th I was told. Breakfast sandwich was light and healthy. Kaya Toast is absolutely divine! The bread itself is a thick soft toast and the kaya spread is creamy and light. They are still testing out the selection for this location, compared to the original location on the other side of town in Richmond, but so far everything looks tempting already. This will be a hard competition for Neighbor Bakehouse just a block away. I didn't try their coffee but there are definitely interesting caffeinated options to try next time. Space is large and it is located in Pier 70 next to indoor Bay Padel courts in Dogpatch. There are a couple tables for Pier 70 seating outside. Visited with friends and we were so glad to have come here for a scrumptious lunch! The shrimpwhich was fantastic, as was the Kaya toast, and the kumquat croissant. We also tried an iced watermelon beverage that was super refreshing. We were so focused on enjoying the meal that we forgot to take photos. Service was friendly and efficient. Finally tried breadbelly!!! Kaya toast was divine. Buttery coconut pandan jam on perfectly toasted milk bread, topped with flaky salt. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. Also surprisingly not that heavy or sweet! This rating is largely based on the kaya toast because I would go again just for it in a heartbeat Gyeranbbang was good, egg & cheese on a muffin. The kaya toast is good! A little too sweet for my taste, but was yummy! I like savory stuff more, so I really enjoyed the mushroom onion bun. The shrimp which was huge and delicious! Somehow everything here seems to be less than the sum of its parts (although some of the parts are lacking -- if you're charging $6 plus mandates for a cappuccino, you shouldn't be cutting corners with no -organic milk IMO). The strawberry lassi sounded so promising on the menu, but is too sweet, with an off balance flavor profile and texture. The cup was bizarrely filled to the brim with ice cubes, making it almost impossible to even drink much of the beverage. The breakfast sandwich was a little better but fairly unremarkable except for the price ($14.50 plus mandates, and it's pretty small) and a bit greasy. The ambiance leaves much to be desired. There is plenty of seating, but your choice is outside next to a construction site, or inside a cavernous warehouse that is dominated by a gym/padel facility that gives the entire space the strong odor of a locker room. Heard alot of hype about this new location and was SO EXCITED to try it. It pains me to write this review because it really just was OK and maybe less than OK in the end :( :( :( This is one of those places that has the hype, the long lines, the stellar Yelp reviews, the "we're sold out early and that's ok because everyone loves us" factor. When I actually really didn't enjoy it, it made me question my own judgment...which is wild. Anyways, we went today on a Saturday AM. The line was short, which was a pleasant surprise. The space is light, bright, and airy too. We got 4 items: kaya bun, gyeranbbang, apricot twice baked croissant, and the black sesame cappuccino. First off, every food item we had was somewhere in the not-room temperature, not-ice cold, and definitely not warm range which is unsettling when you're digging into a croissant or bun in the MORNING. Because of this, I'm under the impression that they refrigerated everything and didn't heat it up properly this morning. The kaya bun was the best of the 3 food items. Yum! I had one bite of the croissant and I couldn't continue. It was caked in sugar which created a thick crust on it that I just couldn't get past. My husband thought the croissant was "decent". Please just go to Arsicault which also opened recently in neighboring Mission Bay and get a proper delicious and warm croissant. Lastly, the Gyeranbbang was again, straight up cold, to the point that I had the strong urge to take this home and heat it up in my much beloved Breville toaster oven. To make matters worse, I tried it again later at home and there was an unpleasant whole ass egg in the middle which did not complement anything else in this already unpleasant food item. I tried to redeem this with a sip of my black sesame cappuccino. I love all asian-themed and flavored items so I was so excited to try this. It was meh. The sesame overpowered any hint of coffee in this drink. Last point, some of the items here are REALLY expensive, like a fig danish for $13. That's fine,if you want to charge that but then I expect the item to be outstanding. Pastries are good and original, but so pricey. $10 (!) for an apricot croissant, $9.50 for a seasonal raspberry/sesame pie. The location is great, quiet, with ample space and parking. I'd be more inclined to come back if prices weren't as high. Other bakeries set the bar as high as they do, but without selling croissants for $10. read more

I was impressed! I had their breakfast sandwich, the yolk was so gooey! The buns of the sandwich were soo soft! The spicy sauce on it was icing on the cake! I also had the Kaya bun, the filling was delicious, wish there was more filling in it. I also had the black sesame iced latte, the sesame taste was perfect! The service was fast, the building itself was pretty impressive. There's a pickle ball court right across from the bakery. There's a lot of cool things to do in there. read more
