    We came here as a recommendation from a coworker. We came on a Sunday afternoon, and it was very busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have indoor and outdoor seatings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wait wasn't too long before we ordered the Kaya toast and Kaya bun. The Kaya toast was so delicious. The toast had a very soft texture like a croissant and the Kaya pandan cream complements it so well. This was devoured very quickly. The Kaya bun was just okay in our opinion. We will definitely be back for the Kaya toast and to try their other menu items. I saw a lot of people with the breakfast sandwich and matcha.

    I ordered ahead online. Skipped the line. I was at the very short pick up line. I was given a bag. Went on my way. Then heard my name, told i was given the wrong bag. Got the right bag. Then I looked into the bag and think there is something missing. Good thing I was only two doors down. I checked my phone. I knew I had 4 items but couldn't figure out what is missing. I ordered through Toast so I got comparing. Oh, the cheesecake was missing. They had put in refrigerator knowing letting it sit out was not good. Went back and got my cheesecake. Please check your orders. If you have time go to YouTube to watch Bon Appetit. They featured May, the baker going through what she does at 4 am to bake all these goodies. The ube not ube tart is super sweet. The cornbread with egg was just ok. I taste corn bread. A bit salty. Wished the egg had better flavor. My black sesame cookie reminded me of an asian alfajores. Very black sesame flavor with not-so-sweet caramel in the center. It was $5. Things are pricey but I'm sure the workers are nicely paid. Saved cheesecake for later. Strangely it came with a separate bag of crackers.

    Wow, the Kaya toast and iced black sesame cappuccino were delicious. Both are must-order items if you're craving a sweet treat. Make sure to mix the iced drink well since the sweet part sinks to the bottom. It is soooo good when mixed and has a balanced nutty flavor. The bread for the Kaya toast is a thick perfect piece of milk bread and the pandan coconut custard jam on top is to die for. The little bit of flaky salt is such a nice touch that perfectly balances all the flavors. YUM! Staff were wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a ton of seating outside which was perfect to enjoy the nice weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Line moved quickly and service was fast too!

    Breadbelly attracts a crowd, particularly on weekends, where the lengthy line out the door cannot easily be ignored. Most people are here for the viral kaya toast, which is as delicious as they say--a sweet coconut-and-pandan spread sprinkled with just a bit of salt to enhance the flavor. Their other food items can be mixed; I felt the breakfast sandwich was tasty but lacking in substance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is not much in the way of seating indoors, but the patio out front is pleasant on a nice day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Going down Clement street in San Francisco it changes once you go past Park Presidio Blvd. You will notice there are less stores and restaurants than the first mile of Clement street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You will also find a bakery on 15th Avenue and Clement which is always crowded and cramped with people when I go at anytime of the weekday and weekend to get some pastries[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . It has Asian inspired bake goods along with hot and cold drinks. You will find bake goods such as Cherry almond cake, Mt. Tam Basque Cheesecake and purple sweet potato Not-Ube Tart. You will see on the menu made to order sandwiches like these egg salad bunwich and Biscuit Smash. You will also find the Shrimpwich and Taiwanese-style fried chicken cutlet sandwich. It's called the Breadbelly in the Richmond District of San Francisco. On a Spring stroll in search of matcha on a rainy day in SF , Don Juan de la Matcha found some warm matcha. I came to Breadbelly for the green items like the Kaya toast and Matcha. I decided to get the Matcha cappuccino which was smooth warm and not too sweet. Although it was only 8 ounces every drop was strong and packed a punch ( not the viral monkey). I then had the Kaya toast and it was a bit sweet and not too flakey like some in SF. The green Pandan jam on the Kaya toast was a bit savory but delicious . [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are few canary yellow tables to sit inside and a lot more seating outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall a good place to grab and pair a green dessert and a green drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go on a Spring stroll past by the Park Presidio green "trees" in San Francisco where the weather can easily change in one day and go from 50 to 70 "degrees" you also can grab a sandwich like the fried chicken cutlet which the style of "Taiwanese"and the matcha which is done in the style of the "Japanese " Come for a "break" at Breadbelly where they "bake "the Kumquat Twice-Baked Croissant and other baked goods like some in SF which "flake"and make it a meal and try their egg salad bunwich , matcha cappuccino, and cherry almond "cake"

    Had a little extra time today. So. Hubby and I went to get breakfast. Breadbelly Biscuit Smash - buttermilk biscuit, black pepper sausage patty, scallion omelette, peanut romesco sauce, new school American cheese The biscuit was so crunchy, the egg cooked just right and the sausage was cooked perfect. So tender. Classic Croissant - croissant made with Beurre d'Isigny, French Normandy butter All the associate's there provided great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The deco was very simple and nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a great outdoor seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is a must visit.

    Hadn't been here in years but glad to see Breadbelly thriving! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was packed on a Sunday afternoon, lots of folks out in the parklet and inside as well in the limited seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Most pastries were sold out, just a few options left at 1:30. Kumquat twice baked was on the sweeter side as most twice baked croissants are. Don't see kumquat often so was glad to try it, but wasn't my fave since it was pretty dense, especially with the crumble on top. Black sesame cappuccino was small but mighty, very flavorful, and I especially appreciated staff giving me a heads up that it's typically on the sweeter side, giving me the option to dial that down per my preference. I think the kumquat croissant was $10 and the black sesame cappuccino $7, so on the high end for sure.

    Been wanting to try this place after seeing it everywhere online. I came around 12 pm on a Saturday, and the wait wasn't too long to order and receive our food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside doesn't have much standing or seating space, but there's a large parklet out front with plenty of room to sit and enjoy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Kaya Toast (9.5/10): Definitely as good as it looks. The inside of the bread is super soft and fluffy, with a croissant-like buttery flavor. The jam is sweet with a prominent coconut-pandan note and pairs perfectly with the crispy toast to create the perfect bite. Extremely delicious and well worth the hype. Breakfast Sandwich (6/10): Pretty disappointing after the toast. Overall, it felt very boring and didn't bring much excitement. I wish the ham had more presence in each bite, the lettuce felt out of place for a breakfast sandwich, and I couldn't really taste the chili paste. I liked the sweet and sour kale, but it got lost among the other components. The sandwich was also messy to eat, with a mix of textures that didn't quite work together. The best part was the bun, almost like a perfect burger bun, which saved it from being a complete miss. I think Breadbelly really shines with its sweet and baked goods. I'd definitely come back for the Kaya Toast and to try more items from the display case. Savory items don't seem to be their strong suit, and I'd probably skip those next time. Still, the high from the toast gives me a lot of hope for the rest of their menu and makes me recommend it overall.

    Breadbelly is a pretty good bakery in the Inner Richmond in San Francisco, and one of the best parts is that there is hardly a line. In a city where many bakeries have people waiting down the block, that alone is refreshing. The kaya toast was the standout. The balance of sweet coconut jam, butter, and crisp toast was excellent and easily the highlight of the visit. The breakfast sandwich was just alright. It was solid but did not quite reach the same level as the kaya toast. The coffee was good and paired well with the food. Overall, it is a nice neighborhood bakery. I would definitely come back if I were in the area and did not feel like waiting in line at one of the more popular bakeries around the city.

    The food is very good and fresh. The service is generally minimal and nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nice but small, mostly outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only gripe is this place is way too expensive. I usually get a pastry or the Kaya toast. It's well over $10 for a location that only has outdoor seating and they ask for a tip. The wait is also extremely long. Like way too long and it doesn't matter the day. I was there today on a Thursday morning and it took like 15 mins. Part of the reason is they wait for many orders to be done before they get yours, like a batching system. The Kaya toast while good is not a normal thing for the length of time. If you're gonna be expensive, be fast. The Kaya wasn't made right now and the bread was sliced and toasted. The expensive price structure is a shared sentiment amongst many people I've talked to.

    I'm so happy I finally got to try Breadbelly over the weekend! It's a famous Asian bakery that has two locations in the Richmond and Dogpatch. I went to the Richmond location around 10am on Sunday, and there was surprisingly no line (one started as we were ordering, but it seemed to move relatively quick). I ordered the Biscuit Smash, Kaya Bun, and Gyernbang. Biscuit Smash 5/5: Such a decadent savory sausage biscuit sandwich. My favorite part was the scallion omelette inside, and I also loved the flavor of the sausage. It was really filling too! Kaya Bun: 5/5: Honestly paired well with the savory biscuit smash and provided a nice cool sweet refreshing desert. The coconut cream on the inside was addicting. Gyernbang: 2/5: A cool concept for a savory egg desert, but I felt that it wasn't as flavorful as the other bites. I probably wouldn't get this one again. There was also a good amount of outdoor seating, so perfect when the weather is good to enjoy a pastry and coffee outside!

    Wonderful, delicious, spectacular. The kaya toast was the mf bee's knees holy hell. Just bread and pandan coconut jam IDK but it was stellar. Taiwanese chicken sandwich banged too. Very tangy and could have been sweeter but hey the milk bread is just stunning and again the Kaya toast is just delectable

    [[HIGHLIGHT]]Breadbelly's aesthetics and menu was very hard to resist and I kept seeing the kaya pandan toast everywhere so I had to get it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The area itself is very nice and quiet and pretty easy to find parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]they have a lovely outdoor seating area as well that is dog friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We actually came by two weekends in a row! The first time we visited, we tried the black sesame cappuccino, kaya toast, and biscuit smash, I don't know what I was expected from the cappuccino but it was very peanut butter-y and coffee like which aren't my favorite things but it was still definitely enjoyed. Now I normally don't order anything with biscuits because it can be very dry, so I usually get breakfast sandwiches but I am not a fan of ham, so we thought, let's give the biscuit smash a try. The biscuit itself was so soft and fluffy and exceeded my expectations. The sandwich though I felt like the proportions were a bit off. The pepper sausage needed more flavor, the egg was way too big, I couldn't' taste the sauce. We had to deconstruct the sandwich to really taste everything. The kaya toast though was everything and more. Light, fluffy toast, with the perfect pandan coconut whipped sauce on top. I am not quite sure what it is but its like this beautiful pandan glaze with salt on top. Perfection! Reminds me of many vietnamese desserts. When we visited the weekend after, we came with a bigger group so we basically ordered the entire menu. New things we tried included the crabwich, shrimpwich, chicken cutlet, kaya bun, ham and cheese croissant, and hojicha chocolate tea croissant. The crabwich is the most expensive item on the menu and I am afraid it was bit of a let down. The soft shell crab just blended into the sandwich and there was little to no flavor overall. Really was disappointed in this one. The shrimpwich was much better but I don't think I'd order again. At this point, I really think Breadbelly does good with their pastries and drinks but maybe pass on the sandwiches which are the more expensive items anyways. After trying the kaya toast, the kaya bun stood no chance. Good on its own but if you know about the toast, the bun is not as good. For some reason, it felt short with the bread not being as soft and the top of the bun was aesthetically pleasing but it kept falling apart. With this second visit, i did discover how good the chicken cutlet was!! They use a five spice seasoning and the chicken is so moist and soft with the batter so thin and crispy. We only ordered 2 at first but we went back to order another and another kaya toast! Both croissants were really good too and the hojicha chocolate tea croissant was everything i'd imagined it to be. I love chocolate and I love hojicha so the combo was honestly amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute cafe to grab breakfast or lunch at. It is a bit pricier but you are paying for quality and aesthetics in the city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Least hospitable cafe I've been to in SF. As in, there are some cafés that you want to be regulars at; this is not one of them.

    I would def say before 12:30! You want to miss the lunch time rush or post church rush! I went around 10ish and there were only a few people there :)

    Why is it called "not ube tart"?

    Ube is purple yam in Filipino. The 'not ube' tart is made from sweet potato which is not the same as a yam. While we're at it, taro is totally different from purple yam or sweet potato.

This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.

The fruit tart was beautiful and incredibly fresh, with perfectly ripe fruit and a light, creamy filling that wasn't too sweet. The corn salad was a pleasant surprise too and maybe a favorite with bright herby bites that complemented the richer bakery items. Everything tasted fresh, and you can tell Tartine focuses on quality rather than overcomplicating dishes. Expect a line, especially during peak hours, but it's worth the wait. Whether you're stopping in for pastries or lunch, it's an iconic San Francisco bakery that's easy to recommend.

But my friend assured me that the line went by pretty quickly. I was just picking up some pastries, so I got one of the chili and cheddar scones and the chocolate rye tea bread. Both were really good. I actually think the chocolate rye tea bread was amazing. I wish I had gotten two of them. This spot was really busy on a Sunday afternoon, and I saw a bunch of people enjoying delicious treats. The lunch menu looked good as well. I would try this again if I were in the area.
