So good we are going back again tonight for a second dinner. Amazing menu. Ahi tuna nachos off the chain good. Wings were hands down the BEST I have ever had. Salad was so big we brought home for lunch. Service was great as well. Small little beach spot with a big city menu and attention to flavors and details!!!!!! As a foodie, wish you guys were in my town! On a "could improve" note, my wife and I wanted to try several items and ordered from the appetizer menu. Charging $2.50 "sharing" charge, PER PERSON, on a $70 food and beverage tab was inappropriate, especially in an empty restaurant! Would be 0 stars if I could give 0. Walked in and was told by a waiter that we were getting a specific table as soon as the people payed and left. While we were waiting someone else walked up and grabbed table and we were told we were going to continue to have to wait for another table instead of asking the other group to leave. I love this place. Every time I'm in town visiting family I try to go here. The staff is nice, the food is good and the drinks aren't so bad either. Break Awayz serves beer, wine and sake. They have a large selection of craft beers for all you beer enthusiasts and also have a nice food menu. I highly recommend the Ahi Nachos. With this order, there are four large nachos which have a generous amount of tuna, seaweed salad and delish sauces. I love all the outdoor seating along A1A and also along the side of the building if it's a cooler or super windy day. They also have a ping pong table in the back which is a great way to pass the time. At night time they get a nice sized crowd and often have life music. SO pleasantly surprised by this place! I was expecting a typical beach bar but was blown away by the menu options and food. The menu has so many great seafood/fish options but we went with the white fish dip, ahi poke bowl, mahi fish tacos and the tuna sliders.The dip was so flavorful and chunky (not like a typical runny dip) and went so well with the baked pita crisps and the smoky chips.The poke bowl was awesome - the tuna was fresh and prepared really well and all of the accompaniments were perfect. Mahi toacos has a nice spicy slaw and the tuna sliders came with 3 pieces of huge tuna, which was seared perfectly. I was also really surprised with the presentation, as each dish was served either on a nice cutting board or bowl and not in a typical beach bar basket or plain plate. The service was good and the waiters were friendly. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and view of the ocean...the inside didn't look very pleasant so I'd avoid sitting inside if possible. Will 100% be back to try more! Especially since the waitress let us know that on Thursdays they have hand rolled sushi. read more

Just down the street from where we were staying we decided to give this hole in the he walk (looking) place a try. So good! Such great food and such a great beer selection. We're happy to have a local place that now sells liquor as well as beer and wine, but the food has really gone downhill in the last year or so. What's the deal? I had the special last night, chicken and waffles, and it was awful. Really awful. The waffles were burnt and cold (butter wasn't melted at all, a bad sign). The chicken "tenders" were soft and flavorless - not the least bit crispy as the menu described and as you'd expect from fried chicken. And that was the "special". Everyone else's meal was just as disappointing. I wish they would step up their game but maybe they don't need to and simply rely on one-time customers and their location. Too bad. read more

The poke nachos were to DIE for. I travel all around the state for work and I was in Daytona for the weekend. Looking to get away from "bike week" I stumbled onto breakaways. They have a really cool craft beer selection- the only complaint is I wish they had more locals on tap!! I ended up drinking a killer passion wheat from Sarasota from a can, but they only had one beer from Florida on draft! Their can selection is awesome and like I said the tuna nachos were amazing. Visiting from Texas and this place was recommended for poke bowls. The food was very good. However the service is extremely slow. You seat yourself, and it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to even get us water. Our poke bowls took almost 40 minutes to come out. OK, on the outside this looks like a bar that you would not find yourself very impressed. That said, The food was outstanding from the appetizers to the entrées. Chef Tiffany does an excellent job and we highly recommend this as a place to enjoy some great food. The bartender/waiter Beth was very friendly and informative. This is probably one of my favorites on the beach. The many selections of beers are on point. If your looking for something with more of an infused kinda style and flavor, this is it. I've had the mahi burrito; which was delicious and full of aromatic flavors but tonight I decided on the mahi tacos, which also were fantastic, considering I modestly filled up on their great varieties of beer. In my opinion, this is the best food at the beach. Not only is the food fresh, huge portions and delicious combinations, but the presentation is fantastic (what can I say, I'm a sucker for orchids on my plate while I'm at the beach!). Everything looks appetizing and it is our favorite place to eat at the beach as regular locals. My husband hardly ever wants to go anywhere else because of the awesome beer selection and the poke bowls, which he'd probably eat every day. For the non-beer drinkers such as myself, there are plenty of ciders, wines and whatnot to please everyone. The views are perfect, great entertainment in the evenings, and a staff that always stops by your table to say hello even if they don't know your name because they remember you. Kyle does a fantastic job with this little gem and we've watched it grow over the last few years as our favorite spot. PS- if you're looking for $2 beers, this may not be the place for you ....and that's why we like it. Not your typical Flagler beach bar- slightly more upscale crowd and no riff raff, fights or drama in a relaxing and laid back atmosphere. :) We love Breakawayz! read more

If you're in the Flagler Beach / Palm Coast area and you're looking for a place to drink better beer, Break Awayz is it. Lots of selection, knowledgeable staff behind the bar, and surprisingly amazing food. From what I had gathered from conversations with staff, almost all of the ingredients are sourced from local farmer's and fish markets - and the flavor shows that. Coolest thing I tried, of all things - a strawberry / ghost pepper blended sauce. Not even sure what it was meant to be on, but it was a taste I never knew could exist. We had Blackened Mahi Bites to start, perfectly cooked and properly seasoned. I then had a Saison Dupont and their house burrito (with multigrain tortilla chips, nice touch, total surprise), and neither one was a disappointment. Bring friends. Come by, get good eats, drink good beer. It's money well spent, and that's not something I'd say lightly. read more
