Believe the hype! Usually when I think of a popular brunch spot in Atlanta with super long lines and wait times I temper my expectations before going. I could not have been more wrong , from the staff to the interior to the food it was all amazing. I absolutely commend them on taking care of their previous wait time issue; we were able to be seated in a very timely manner. Also of note this is right next to a Marta station, king memorial stop, so very accessible. The hostess was so nice and took us back to a dedicated waiting area /room while we waited for our final guest and table to be cleaned (make note that the entire party must be present before you are seated). The decor is very nice; it felt like being in a luxurious living room in someone's well decorated home. The entrance had a very instagram worthy flower arrangement surrounding the door. Our waitress was very upbeat and excellent at suggesting items from the menu for each person in my party. We opted to order several things and share since so much on the menu sounded great. Bonus: they were doing Beyonce themed cocktails which were delicious. I got the Texas hold'em. Not sure if this will be all the time but it they have it when you go order it, trust me. For food the must haves are absolutely the 24 karat gold pancakes (gigantic pancakes with strawberries , blueberries edible flowers and 24k gold flakes with bourbon apple cider syrup , absolutely shareable for a table ), the side honey butter croissants (crispy and flaky , order these before your main course ) , and the side creamy grits( they are out of this world creamy, order them without cheese as they are already so rich and creamy). During this brunch we also ordered the hard bird (chicken and waffles ) , Savanah fish and grits, salmon croquettes and steak and eggs. All of these were hits but my favorite entree was probably the pancakes. The service was very fast , so be aware when you order food it comes out pretty quickly. This is important if you are considering appetizers. Overall this is an easy recommendation for brunch . Meh. I've been waiting months to go here. Months! But the reports of the crazy waits deterred me. Ended up biting the bullet one Saturday morning and going. For a party of 2, I was quoted a wait time of 2.5-3 hours! I arrived close to noon. Ended up only waiting for just under an hour. And...I accidentally missed the text that my table was ready. I saw it 9 minutes later. When I went to claim our seats, I guess they had given them up....miss mamas over the seating had a super attitude . It was definitely my fault for missing the text, but I think she could have handled it without the attitude. Ended up sitting at the bar which was fine, but man everything was chaos. Ordering food, getting drinks, silverware, etc. was a mess. The staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I don't know if they were understaffed or if it was since it was a Saturday, but it was a mess. I had the fish and grits with a mimosa and was underwhelmed. It wasn't flavorful and the grits had chunks of unmixed cream cheese in them...the portion size seemed small to me as well. My cousin had the lamb chops and said she really enjoyed it. The couple next to me was raving about their food so maybe I just got a bad entree or at least on that day it was. The ambiance is cute and they play good music. I'm not sure if I'll come back. My experience didn't make me feel like I HAVE to. There's valet parking for $5, but if you drive down to the next opening for the garages, you can park free. read more

If it's an all day brunch spot it's for me period‼ I have always been a lover of all day or 24 hour restaurants. Every time I come to Atlanta I plot on this place and the line is always out the door and around the corner . If that's not a sign that the food is good then what is ? Since I'm here visiting during the week vs the weekend it wasn't as bad. So for a Tuesday our wait time was 30 minutes when we arrived and it went pretty fast . We were greeted & seated pretty quickly . I tell you what, when not only our food was good but our waiter/server Evan he made our time here the best by being extra attentive and even telling us what some of his favorite dishes was & he did not steer us wrong although I have a feeling everything here is amazing . So I was going to go with the 24karat pancakes but he did confirm the portion was a lot for one person so we decided to go with the shrimp n grits & the salmon croquettes and grits . Man oh man when I say I can still taste all of this food right now as we speak . May I add the grits alone are to die for, I mentioned I could legit just eat a bowl of those & be happy as a log . I was really excited to try a black owned brunch spot in Atlanta but hated this place . First of all please no you cannot make any changes to any dishes- no changes and no substitutions and can't remove a thing . Fruit on the side instead of on top - nope . No cheese on something - nope . You name it and nope they won't do it. . And they won't be friendly about it either . I attempted to order eggs scrambled hard but they came runny . I asked a manager to cook them longer and her response - "so you want them burnt " first of all rude - and also I think between runny and burnt you can just cook them . A friend told them they forgot waters and they were rude and overall the food was bland the service sucked so I guess since they added 18 percent gratuity they didn't care . Pro tip - if u wanna call your waiters experience specialists at least Make sure they actually add something positive to the experience . Def won't be bad . The exterior and interior design is very stylish, and I would guess is what drives its popularity. And it may be that Monday morning is not prime Breakfast at Barney time. BUT, they were out of a whole list of things, including chicken, so no chicken & waffles. My salmon croquettes were dry and heavily salty, my "soft scrambled" eggs and my husband's omelet were both quite stiff, most likely whipped with a little lemon juice to make them look impressive. My fruit cup was nice, but my brioche toast was stodgy and dry like yesterday. The fresh strawberry jam had good flavor but was so runny I had to dip my toast into it. There was no refill on tea, and no decaf coffee. We like breakfasts of all sorts, but this meal seemed to be designed and produced by someone who just wasn't in the mood. read more

This place appears to be all the hype right now. The wait time can be up to three hours but luckily for me, it was only one (Monday afternoon). The environment is intentional with 90s African-American sitcoms playing on the TVs, the staff wears all white and the rotating music playlist adds the final touch. Hennessy everything! I came at 11am on a Sunday and put my name on the list for a party of 9. I was told it would be up to a 2 hour wait so I left and came back at 12:45 which was the time their online system told us to come back. We got their and told there was at least another hour wait. I was ready to go but my mom wanted to stay. We have been here for 4 & a half hours and still waiting on a table, we haven't been offered water, apologizes or given an explanation. When we went to the front the dark skin lady with locs got an attitude. The tall skinny chick with a pony was rude & I had to stop my mom from slapping her. I was ready to leave hours ago but my mom wanted to stay. Barney's is the reason why I don't support black owned business. The management team here clearly doesn't understand the restaurant business or how to accommodate large parties. I have worked in the service industry before as a hostess and I have accommodated large parties before by putting tables together when parties leave. This isn't a new or hard concept to understand but they clearly either don't get it or don't give a damn about their customers. When we finally get inside they don't have coffee, sprite, apple juice for the kids. We had to ask several times for water, silverware, napkins, straws, extra eggs, just things that should be common sense. No ones food came out correctly, we had to repeatedly ask for our food over and over again and the server acted like we were being a nuisance. No food is worth a 4 hour wait. I will NEVER EVER come here again and I will tell everyone that I know to not spend their money where they don't respect their customers. read more

The hype is real! We were downtown for a dance workshop last weekend so had time to go get on the 2 hour list and get back to workshop in to we were almost ready to be seated. I rarely give 5 stars especially after a 2 hour wait but this place lives up to the hype. Our server was extraordinary. She checked on us 3 times between drinks and appetizer... Appetizer, yes lets get it going right there. The collard green/mac n cheese/ sweet potato egg roll was next level blending sweet and savory. And it was right out of the fryer so hot, soooo dang good. Next I had the salmon croquettes with home potatoes which were nicely cooked to slightly crunchy, over medium eggs cooked perfectly. The salmon croq was really good but whatever that sauce was put it over the top. Also the homemade blackberry jam again perfectly executed. I actually used some on my son's pancake. My son had 24K pancakes and I wasn't enthusiastic about just pancakes for that price but I was wrong. The best pancakes I've had in recent memory. they were just great, firm but still fluffy. Cooked well so did not fall apart with syrup. maple bourbon syrup again is a quality add. Finally my daughter had the pineapple acai bowl. I'm sure there's a picture as I neglected to take any but this thing was the best acai bowl ever. I'm no expert but my wife and kids are and I tried it. hard to get a full sample in my one and only one sample as I was restricted by my daughter since everyone started sampling her pineapple bowl. shaved coconut, banana, strawberries, blueberries and I'm missing something? only consideration, almond butter?! Think about it. I think the juices were fresh squeezed and my wife and son couldn't stop talking about them. I didn't catch her name, but she's a beautiful lady with gold Locs, light maple syrup skin & freckles. There was a leak above, so they swiftly moved us to the other side of the bar before we even noticed. The 4 stars come from the food, the bartender and the security (Saying security at the front is wild to me for a restaurant but anywho) I'd been wanting to try this place for a minute but not a fan of waiting in line to eat and not being able to make a reservation is not appealing to me but I can imagine it's good marketing. We waited between these club-like ropes to get our names on the list and she said about 90 minutes. We noticed some open seats at the bar and she stated there are 4 parties ahead of us but we'd more than likely be seated quicker at the bar. Most places have the bar as "first come first serve" but I guess that's not the case here. We waited for about an hour and were seated at the bar. Thank goodness it wasn't cold that day or the wait would've sucked. Onto the food and the inside. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Presentation 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Drinks 3/5 (weak drinks) Cute establishment but nothing stood out to me as far as the decor goes for the inside of the restaurant for it to be set up like you need VIP to get in. Nice rumble of conversations going on. We ordered drinks and the bartender was very welcoming. She was busy and yet still attentive. We had the espresso martini. Have you ever visited a restaurant that you wanted to love so much? That's Breakfast at Barney's for me. The whole concept is pure genius. The decor is upscale and captivating. The service was decent. But the food, unfortunately, was not that good. A friend came in town and my fiancée and I decided that we wanted to try B@B. We went around 5pm on a Sunday. (FYI: that's perfect timing, apparently, for a spot like this given its high weekend brunch traffic.) We were told our wait would be about one to two hours. We waited for about 20 mins before being seated at the bar. The bartender was our server and she was very helpful. I ordered the "Lamb & Eggs". My fiancée ordered the "Catfish and Spaghetti". And our friend ordered the "Steak and Eggs". Lamb: The bartender gave me a fair warning about the lamb before I ordered it. I asked for it to be cooked "medium" and she told me that it would be "well done" because the kitchen cooks the lamb in a type of crock pot. Initially I said no, and started to look at the menu for other food options. I was so settled on the lamb that I decided to give it a try, against my better judgment. I ate two bites of it before I realized that it was not for me. The best comparison I can make to the lamb was that it tasted like slow cooked pot roast. Personally, lamb should never be degraded in such a way. I didn't want to waste my food (or complain) so I packaged it and gave it to a houseless person down the street. Fried Catfish: If you're from the country, this is a meal you may feel really excited to eat. It's one of those country comfort foods that you could *almost* never go wrong with. The pros of this dish was that the spaghetti wasn't cooked with any meat. There's no beef or ground turkey in the spaghetti. The only meat is the fried catfish. Everything somewhat goes downhill from there. The marinara sauce tasted like Ragu. There was nothing fresh or special about it. Unlike its name, the food wasn't spicy whatsoever. The catfish had a cornmeal batter. It was decent. The dish was also a bit room temperature when received. Steak: This was the dish of the day. Our friend's steak was ordered medium and came with some gravy poured over. It was very juicy and tender steak. There were no problems here whatsoever. While we were eating, another customer who was about to leave asked me how I enjoyed my lamb chops. I told her I didn't. She said her server said that was one of the hardest items to sell on the menu and that the server said the best item on the menu was their "Shrimp & Grits". I almost ordered the shrimp, but I decided to give the lamb a try. So, if you're heading to the restaurant, consider trying the shrimp and grits. Lastly, I really enjoyed the diversity of the menu. In addition to my meal, I had two ginger shots. They have other nutritional drinks and smoothies on the menu that are worth trying in a potential future visit. read more

My best friend, and I decided to take a quick trip to Atlanta, and we happen to look online for great brunch places, Breakfast at Barney's was at the top of the list. Unfortunately, they do not have reservations, you have to come to the restaurant to put your name on the waitlist. The good part is we did not have to wait no longer than 15 to 20 minutes for our table. The restaurant has a nice chic, emerald green ambience with modern decor, and hundreds of pictures highlighting successful people in and out of Atlanta. When we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly host, who then took us to our table where we met our great waiter. He gave us great suggestions on what we should try since this was our first time here. We ordered the watermelon Mojito, and watermelon mimosa which were very refreshing. Then we ordered the French toast with grits and bacon, with the fried chicken and waffles with eggs. When I tell you, I was in heaven, every piece of food on our plates were delicious. The French toast was fluffy, the grits were some of the best grits I have ever had. The crispy fried chicken paired well with the thick waffles. Came on a Friday before 09:30 am and there was no wait. I've been trying to come here for over a year (I typically drive by and if there is a long line outside I keep it moving). There was no wait to be seated. Service was prompt and friendly. Our server "Tai" recommended the soul egg rolls and fried green tomatoes. The egg rolls were a day old and caused queasiness in our stomachs - we didn't finish them. The fried green tomatoes were fresh and tasty. Breakfast sandwich with veggie sausage was not good. Sandwich was flavorless. Don't get the home fries as you can tell they come straight from a frozen bag. I appreciate that lemon and honey was served with my hot black tea. Chicken and waffles were good. Probably won't be back due to underwhelming food. read more

Sighhhhh! They have such potential but when service is turtle like + lackluster, hostess is in the restroom texting, patrons are having to endure the screeching from the rearranging of tables and chairs in main dining to try and accommodate large parties (lift don't drag), silverware is dingy, sticky and dirty, no one person employed in the establishment smiles or seems excited to be present, food arrives before coffee and tea , host yells from kitchen, we'll be with you momentarily...breakfast at Barney's is just meh! all of the above truly made for an unpleasant time. I've been here a couple of times and the food is DELICIOUS! I honestly haven't had a bad dish here. Food: My favorite items are the Soul Rolls and the Steak & Eggs. Let's start with the souls rolls.. HEAVEN ON A PLATE! Mac n cheese, yams and collards in an egg roll with a light sauce drizzled on top. I like for my Mac n cheese and yams to touch so what could be better than this? The steak and eggs.... whew Chile! I was full about halfway through, but I just could not stop! It comes served with toast and potatoes. You can sub the potatoes for grits (and I did). The grits were nice and creamy. I ordered my steak medium well. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce on top gave me life! Speaking of life, the toast and their house made blueberry jam.... just WOW. Parking & Wait Time: Free parking in the Pencil Factory garage. Valet is $5. The wait time on a late Saturday morning was an hour and a half. I've also gone on a Wednesday around 2pm and it was more like 45 minutes. The first time I went I was able to join the Yelp Waitlist. Today, that wasn't an option, but you could still track your wait time in Yelp (after joining in person). I'm glad we got in today because a couple of weeks ago the wait was like 5 hours (maybe that's why they turned off the waitlist). Atmosphere: So cute. From the black and white interior with velvet blue and green furniture accented in gold, to the black art on the walls. Even the freakin' bathroom is cute at this place. It's a vibe. They have music playing, mostly R&B. It's not overpowering which is good cause you'll be able to hear yourself talk. (Just don't necessarily go looking for the typical ATL day party brunch vibe). One thing I LOVE is that Barney's plays black TVs shows on the TVs at the bar. The first time I was there it was Girlfriends. Today it was Fresh Prince. #ForTheCulture Social Distancing: Masks are required, the security guard was wearing gloves and he was pretty much the only person touching the door handle as people enter and exit. However, when I got ready to leave and was trying to get out, I realized the table behind me, our chairs were pretty much back to back. I had to slide out and I'm pretty small... so def not 6ft.
