We had just completed a small renovation in our home and wanted the heating ducts cleaned prior to using our furnace again. We also wanted the bathroom fans cleaned, as well as the dryer vent. It's so rare to see but so great when you find them! Everything was smooth and easy from getting a quote online (very clear and descriptive of all your options and chargers) and very easy to schedule online as well. They had many appointment windows available and I could chose what was most convenient. Like everyone else stated, they arrived on time, and quickly went to work. I love that they set plastic down everywhere to protect your home, and the workers even automatically took their shoes off every time they come in the home (without having to be asked too). In January 2019, I initially had the Type-X System Reset - cleaning my 30-year-old furnace for the FIRST time and replacing weak motor!!! I have dust allergies and mentioned it to one of my contractors who highly recommended Breathable. Heat was also not reaching front of the house. They did a thorough job of sealing around vents and tubing, cleaned the furnace main tube. I left a Yelp review for that one, giving them a 5-star rating for efficiency and satisfaction with the overall service. They used a team of three on the job. * All of the vent covers were removed and inspected the vents for sharp objects. * They followed up with cleaning the supply ducts with rotor brushes. * Each duct was swept 4-6 times (back and forth) to ensure maximum cleanliness. * The blower fan was removed from the furnace and washed. The photo view up from the furnace had been nearly blocked because of dust! * The return line was cleaned using a high-cfm air-scrubber/high torque brush combo. * A Breathable upgrade was installed. * Duct leakage around the vents was sealed. * Replaced the old weak motor. 3.23.22 Requested the Type-B System Reset. I was ready for routine cleaning of my air filtration system because of pet fur and city dust, and again had 3 well-mannered men who efficiently worked for two hours. After taking off their shoes upstairs, they quietly laid down wide strips of plastic sheeting to avoid tracking dirt. The vent covers were each taken outside to blow out the dust and hose down and fully dry before replacing. (A wire brush was used to remove corrosion as well.) Meanwhile they used a large portable vacuum cleaner on each vent and also cleaned the overhead bathroom fan duct. And in the downstairs furnace, the blower fan to furnace return duct was removed and thoroughly cleaned. It is refreshing to experience service that is honest, thorough, and still reasonably priced for the number of workers and work conscientiously accomplished. The Breathable team arrived exactly on schedule and did a very thorough and efficient job of cleaning the furnace duct system underneath our 100-year-old duplex in Oakland. Juan, the lead worker, was very clear in explaining various issues that we had been totally unaware of -- starting with one duct that had been eaten into by a rodent, with much loose insulation material inside the duct. Then there were issues where ducts had separated or areas where there was missing ventilation. Another duct wasin a bad position overtop of a pipe, causing it to be squeezed and the run unnecessarily crooked. There were quite a few issues --- and it was tremendously helpful to get their professional assessment of the situation. I have hired Breathable in about 3 occasions now (Central air filtration, duct cleaning and duct replacement). We couldn't be more than happy with all the work that they have done. The Breathable team (Juan, Adolfo and Jaime) were the best. They were punctual, clean and efficient -- Very professional. Type X Filtration System It's the most upgraded filtration system we can find. We live up in the hills and potential fire season be nasty without it. Nir, the owner, provided us detailed information on how it works and how it differs to what we have or what we had been looking into. It's definitely worth the upgrade. Best part about it is that I only have replace the filter once a year instead of several times a year. Duct Cleaning We had cleaned all of our ducts in our house. They had inspected every duct in the crawlspace before performing any work, which they pointed out a few of my ducts had quite a bit of damage. This was potentially due to wear and tear and lack of maintenance from the previous owners. Who knows? Either case, it was unhealthy to have damaged ducts. For the cleaning, they were very thorough and cleaned all the ducts that was serviceable. Duct replacement and sealing Nir, the owner, had provided me options for the repairs. Again, Nir was very knowledgeable and took the time for me to understand the pros and cons of each options. The breathable team re-inspected all ducts especially the ones that needed to be repaired. I wanted to go down in the crawlspace to see how the damage looked like before they started performing the repairs. So they were kind enough to lend me as spare suit to crawl under with them. They guided me around under my house and some of the ducts to be replaced were absolutely tore up. I'm glad we caught that and got them replaced. They also corrected the air flow going into all the bedrooms since some rooms were hotter or cooler than the other when the air/heat was on. Contacted Breathable to do a full "type-X" system reset and cleaning of the air ducts in our home, installation of a new air intake filter at the furnace, as well as dryer and bathroom vent cleaning and testing of the seals in the ductwork. Received a message and detailed quote within an hour of contacting them outlining all the costs and description of services. Nir and Patricia were very responsive in all communications and helped answer some questions I had about the different options and to schedule the servicing. I was able to get an appointment scheduled a bit more than a week after initially contacting them, thought they had some earlier appointments available. On the day of the appointment, I received a text message confirming arrival of the technicians 30 minutes before their arrival (which was right at the start of the 2-hour start window in the schedule). When the techs arrived, Juan introduced himself and we proceeded to do a a walk through of all the home and the services to be done. Once the walkthrough was completed, Juan and his 2 person team proceeded to put protective plastic and covers in areas they were working, to keep dust and particles off the floors and furniture. They also were mindful to take off their shoes and wear plastic booties as well. Service took approximately 3-4 hours total, for a 1400 sq/ft townhome with 11 registers, and all the extra cleaning. We had Breathable come and clean our ducts and install a MERV 16 filter pod. I can't say enough about Juan and his team! They were great to work with, very efficient and professional. They also identified asbestos insulation around our ductwork, something we hadn't known when we purchased the house a few years ago...which was a bummer, but they handled it well and were still able to do their work. They also found and resolved a number of leaks in the system. Now that it's complete, the house smells and feels much better and some of my respiratory issues are already improving!
