This bakery was right down the road from our hotel and we visited at least 3 times. I was so glad that they have a variety of sugar free syrups for the coffee, the sf caramel was so good in my Americano. The spinach & yam frittata was so unexpectedly good! And I enjoyed the banoffee tart, the Copenhagen roll, and kuffle. My friends loved the earl gray donut and apple fritter. We also loved the blueberry almond chia pudding, I enjoyed the apricot chicken salad sandwich and lemon shortbread cookie. Everything was worth coming back for. All the girls there were so helpful and friendly. There was hardly ever a line. I took so many pastries home to share!

Great west end location on your way to English Bay / Stanley Park I always come here for apple fritters (gigantic!), strawberry filled donuts, cookies (kuffles, gluten free peanut cookies & granola cookies) plus savoury veggie or spinach pastries. Also a good deal on full cakes & pastries such as apple streudels, cheesecakes & etc. They've got a plethora of coffee and tea choices. The women all work hard & are highly efficient at this place ~ its always hoppin! Has a handy side (paid) connected parking & small outdoor eating (covered) spot. Limited seating inside with wifi I always return to this location! (FYI, was previously a Dairy Queen)

We made a quick stop here to refuel after biking around Stanley Park. It's definitely busy and in a good tourist location. The salted caramel mocha was tasty and nice on a cool day. Both donuts we got (london fog and chocolate hazelnut filled) fell on the dry side. I am not impressed by their pastries, as they lack freshness. The drinks are decent though!

If you're searching for a reasonably priced meal or snack, Breka Cafe is your place. Everything from soups to sandwiches to sweet treats and coffee galore. Prices are affordable. Seating is limited. Open 24/7. Food is delicious and I defy you to leave without sampling their yummy baked goods. The aromas when you walk in the door are all you need to know! This place is the real deal.

Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better! Go to Mello which isn't too far and they bake fresh daily better pricing and reviews and consistency!

I was in need of a pick me up while visiting the Gastown Steam Clock and figured I'd grab a donut from Lee's which is right across the street. There is an overwhelming amount of unique flavors and all of which I would have loved to try. I opted for the matcha and German chocolate donut and wow! I had no idea Canada was known for donuts but I can now understand why. The donuts are super light and airy which I prefer. The reason I don't care for donuts at least in the US is because they're always so dense but it was the complete opposite here. The donuts at Lee's also had a nice crispiness on the outside which added a nice texture. They are also not overly sweet and had great flavor! I especially love the location of this shop because you can do some souvenir shopping on this street and get your pictures of the steam clock. Had I known about this place earlier in my trip I would have loved to come back a second time but at least now I know for the next time that I visit Vancouver. Can't wait to come back for these donuts!

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
