How about the optional veggie patty on the burger? Nope. Went for the veggie wrap with no cheese and side of fruit. It was the safest bet. There is a Beyond patty available but decided against it. Service was very good and enjoyed the complimentary sliced pickles they bring to the table. If you wind up here as a vegan, just be prepared for slim pickings. I love Brent's deli and I recently researched how long they've been around, and it's been over 50 years! They have a menu with a wide selection to choose from, but somehow I always go for the Curly Fries and one of Brent's club sandwich options. I have been on a Club sandwich kick for a couple years now and this is one of two places that I get my fix from! So far I've tried the Grilled Chicken Breast club, the Fresh Roasted Turkey Club, the Rare Roast beef club, the turkey club wrap, and Brent's special club, and I love them ALL. Old school diner feel with an exceptional staff and quick service. Yes, the pastrami sandwich tastes as good as it looks. Came for lunch, wished I'd came for breakfast and could stay for dinner. The staff was very attentive, got me some water and took my order immediately and the sandwich was on the table almost as fast. Rye bread was super fresh, soft with a nice crust. Pastrami was tender and seasoned great. I added some deli mustard which resides on each table and got to it. I was given pickles with my water and I ate those along side of the sandwich. The black pastrami reuben was divine, soo good! And surprisingly the steak cut fries were awesome too crunchy on the outside, hot and bothered inside. Perfect with the coleslaw too. The chicken soup with the giant matzo ball was a dud though. It was bland and tasted like campbell soup plenty of chicken and carrots though , it would have been good if it was served piping hot. I finally got the chance to try Brent's, and it was amazing! Wow. I loved my pastrami sandwich + sides, and on gluten free bread, no less! They knew how to prep the bread so it wouldn't be soggy or fall apart. I also appreciated the cozy diner atmosphere...I kind of felt like I was stepping back in time (in a good way). I've been wanting to try out Brent's Deli for a long time after having read so many positive reviews. Took my wife on a breakfast date after dropping off the kids to school. The place is well kept and very welcoming. From the floor to the booths, and all the way to the walls and ceiling, you can tell they take great pride in keeping the place clean. The place was packed. We were greeted and seated immediately. It seemed there are many regular customers and the staff has been there a long time as well. The entire staff that helped us was great, especially Vic who was our main server. He was polite, personable, and was so attentive by checking in on us so frequently. One of my pet peeves is when staff sees empty water cups and coffee mugs but ignore it. Well that certainly did not happen. Our glasses and mugs were always refilled without asking. We were so impressed by the service and how genuine it is. My wife enjoyed her thin waffles, eggs, and sausage. I came in for the pastrami sandwich, which did not disappoint. My GF's best friend from her childhood was visiting from NYC. A Brent's reunion was a great start! I've been to their newer location in Westlake and have greatly enjoyed their food and service. Today it's my first time at the OG, circa 1967. My number #13 hot pastrami sky high was a close second to Langer's #19. It was delicious but slightly more fatty. The rye bread was fresh, moist in center and had a delightfully crunchy outer surface. The corned beef was lightly pickled and lean. The rare roast beef was also high quality but neither stood up against my pastrami. Our server Jonathan was great. Funny and interactive and always had a lookout for us. A very unassuming exterior in a quiet strip mall with other very unassuming looking businesses becomes a hive of activity when you enter the front door. Huge cookies are on display as you enter and are escorted to your table. The restaurant has an "elsewhere" kinda look and vibe - maybe east coast. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I ordered a Brisket Melt that comes with Coleslaw and Fries. Lots of meat in the melt which was great. The fat steak fries were cooked nicely, and a small but tasty Coleslaw was suffice. The price was $24. I would say that the prices here are maybe a few dollars more than other restaurants. Having noticed the cookies on entry, I asked the server which was a fav for customers. He told me the "Black and White". I ordered this and was quite disappointed. To me, it was more cakelike than a cookie. The only other slightly annoying thing was the server asking me to pass our dirty plates when we were sitting there and talking. It's a pet peeve for me. Pastrami devotees in LA would most likely have Langer's as a top-of-mind recall, but I'm sure they wouldn't balk at what Brent's has to offer -- We had the corned beef Reuben stuffed between grilled rye bread with melted Swiss cheese, hot sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. This masterpiece comes served with thick-cut steak fries and coleslaw -- but they were mere (but welcome) distractions. Next was the #13 Hot Pastrami and Swiss sandwich -- generously sliced, a comforting texture from the pastrami's perfect marbling -- you can request for leaner cuts, but why mess with perfection? Also, part of today's lunch was the Matzo Ball Soup -- the matzo ball was airy and delicately textured, lightly spiced with subtle notes of pepper, garlic, dill and parsley -- in a hearty bowl of chicken noodle soup. We meant it to be an undercard, but it could very well have been the main event as well. Brent's is worth the drive from the OC and deserves serious mention in pastrami conversations in South Cal. My wife and I decided to stop by Brent's Deli here in Northridge, California. I got the corned beef sandwich with sweet potato french fries. The corned beef was sliced and cooked to perfection, and the fries were delicious. My kids got the kids breakfast with eggs and pancakes, and my wife ordered the matzo ball soup because that's her favorite thing to get there. The only issue I had was that prices have increased so much over the years that it's become very expensive to go to a deli, and Brent's Deli is no exception. I realize things cost more these days, but prices at delis have gotten out of control. The total for my corned beef sandwich, my kids' breakfast, and my wife's matzo ball soup with tax and tip was over $50. I can't be the only one who feels this way about deli pricing. That said, the service here is always top-notch. The staff is super friendly and always smiling when they help you. The ambiance at this particular Brent's is old-school, with brown wood-paneled walls and photos of people who have visited over the years. It has a cozy feel that really makes you feel at home. There's plenty of parking, as the lot is shared with other businesses in the shopping center, so that's not an issue. Just be aware that if you come on a Saturday or Sunday morning or on holidays like Mother's Day or Father's Day there will likely be a wait. I've had take out from Brent's for years, but we decided to eat in person for the first time. Located in a strip mall, there was plenty of parking, which was convenient. Once you step inside, you are greeted with the chaotic hustle and bustle of a traditional deli. Once you get someone's attention for seating, you are ushered back to some rows of booths. Everyone was super nice, just very busy, so you don't quite get the attentive service of a traditional restaurant. Tables turn over fairly quickly, so you're in and out without a lot of fuss. We were offered a plate of pickles for the table, although they were a little more dill than I'm used to at a deli. I'm a fan of those crisp "new" pickles you usually find. I ordered a hot corned beef sandwich and it was delicious. I was super impressed by their bread quality. It was perfect. I was disappointed by the side dishes. We got some curly fries and onion rings, but they didn't really have any flavor? Desperately needed salt. Will probably skip them next time and just get the sandwiches. We had a 20 min wait but things moved quickly. Once you're seated the staff is very good. Your cup won't stay empty long they have good pickles which is important for a deli. Absolutely love Brent's. My first experience was end of last year at the Westlake Village location. I knew this one in Northridge was the original, and I was set on coming here first, but I noticed there was a second location closer to Calabasas where I was staying at the time so I went there instead. Between both locations, this Northridge one feels more "hustle and bustle". Customer service is still nice but they're much briskier. One of the best pastrami I've had. The smoke, the flavor, the fat on it... it was all delicious. The rye bread was perfect with it. Great flavor and so proper with some good pastrami. This sandwich is one I can order over and over again. The lady got The 555 ($24) which is grilled pastrami on a length-wise onion roll with thousand island, coleslaw, melted swiss and mustard. It looked great and she could only eat half of this sandwich. It was a good size and can easily be shared. We also ordered matzo ball soup ($13) which was made so perfect and comforting, mini blintzes & mini latkes sampler ($18) and you get 5 each. We also got a beef knish ($9) and that was delicious especially with the gravy poured on top. Good corned beef filling too. And for dessert, against my advice... our table got a massive slice of carrot cake. It's huge! It can easily feed 4. But this carrot was also really tasty. No raisins, moist cake, perfect cream cheese frosting. It's a big slice. We took so much of it home. Brent's was great. Cant wait to go back again. Will get regular size latkes and blintzes next time. We will request to be in Omar's area.... Plenty of parking in their shared lot. The first thing to know is that Brent's is always busy, especially weekend lunchtime but more than just then, and one could wait a half hour or so for a table and my friend who goes there a lot says they don't take phone reservations. Fortunately for a table for 3 at lunch at 12N the wait was only 15 minutes. We got a nice table, Manuel was an excellent server in bringing us extra napkins, make sure the two people who ordered water had timely refills and the food came fairly quickly. All of us order pastrami, two half a sandwich and one with soup and the other with fries and I got a full pastrami sandwich, knowing I'd take half home for my son, who loved it. The best pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten. Absolutely incredible and every bite was fantastic. I'm not usually into pickles and sour kraut or slaw but wow I put off of it on and had a delightful lunch. The latkes and blintzes were delicious. Unfortunately they put blue cheese instead of Swiss cheese on my wife's burger and so we hardly took 2 bites--she always feels too embarrassed to send food back but the fries were solid. I suggested this spot for lunch because we were in the area for the day, and I know my boyfriend loves pastrami sandwiches and they have one of the top-rated ones in Southern California. We were lucky to be immediately seated when we arrived since they were so busy. The booth we were in had a neighboring booth. It looked like there used to be a divider of some sort, but it was removed so you might be a tad close to the table next to you. My boyfriend got the Hot Pastrami Traditional Sandwich ($21) which is served on rye bread with your option of potato salad or coleslaw, in which he opted for the potato salad. And whoaaaaaaaa.... Best pastrami sandwich ever. The pastrami was so thin and delicious, not too salty at all. The bread was crispy and complimentary. The potato salad was average. We were thinking about asking to upgrade for fries instead or something like that next time. I wanted to try a variety of things so I ordered the Matzo Ball Soup ($13) and an appetizer Stuffed Cabbage ($15). Either one of those things would have been enough for me because the portions are HUGE. The matzo ball was huge and it rested on top of chicken noodle soup. The chicken broth was so decadent and fatty. I wouldn't say it was healthy, but it was delicious. I had to take most of it to-go since it seemed like the item that would reheat better by compare, and it was still delicious as a leftover. The stuffed cabbage was HUGE and I'm impressed it stayed well intact as I cut into it. The super soft cabbage was filled with ground beef and cooked in a tomato sauce. The menu says sweet and sour, but I mostly just tasted sweet. I really like tomato flavors so I LOVED it, but I think it was a tad too sweet for my boyfriend. Oh well, more for me!
