I stopped by Honeybear Boba with some friends on a weekday afternoon and tried a their Jasmine Milk Tea with boba along with their Popcorn Chicken. I enjoyed the Jasmine Milk Tea, as it was fragrant with a nice floral note that came through clearly, and the boba had a good chew and was okay. My friend and I shared their popcorn chicken, which was tasty and hit the spot, but felt a bit pricey for the portion size. Good boba place but may have slightly higher prices on the food side!
I was walking to the Dogpatch from the 22nd St Caltrain and stumbled upon Honeybear Boba! It was so cute and there was a line out the door. It was pretty busy from people walking around on the nice day and also from local businesses. You order at a kiosk. They also do a pretty good delivery business. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte and it automatically came with boba! I was glad because it was a smaller size than most boba drinks you can get in SF. The flavor was rich and sweet, and I liked the fresh strawberry. Boba had good consistency and texture. Would be back! Great location, also close to Dogpatch Games.
It was small but cute! Clean friendly quick! Great music! For a quick drink spot they did well!

I came in around noon on a weekday, and the place wasn't busy so I got my order really fast. They have tablets for you to self order so I went with that, and I like the efficiency. I got the Hong Kong milk tea with boba. I found that the tea flavour wasn't very strong and lacking fragrance. I usually get my drinks 75% sweet, but opted for 50% sweet because I saw some reviews saying their drinks were quite sweet. 50% ended up still being too sweet for me. The boba was average in texture and taste.
My friend lives in the Mission and doesn't order Boba much, but I pressed for it and of course she had to say yes. We did a search on Google for the closest delivery and Honeybear in MB popped up. The cute dog on the cup and standard tea selections passed. Our delivery guy came quickly and handed us our drinks: Hong Kong Milk tea (25% sugar) and Oolong Black (50% sugar) we could taste the tea flavor and it's strong enough to come through. I could've probably ordered my usual zero sugar but have never tried this place so I opted for the tiniest bit of sweetness. Boba was nice and soft, but some balls were clumped together. I appreciate Honey Bear Boba. I don't frequent Boba Guys anymore since their quality has gone downhill, so this is a good alternative for delivery.
Was craving a Boba and found a place on the map nearby. The space was cute, you order on the kiosk and they make it and put it in the pick up area for you. I ordered a Thai tea. The drink is all right, this specific batch you can taste. The leaves have been over steeped, so does that aftertaste of bitterness to it. But despite that we're looking at the drink is still not bad. The Boba is a medium firmness, which I know is a preference for many, personally I love a really soft Boba, but as long as it's not hard, it's still good.
Came thru on the unda on a rainy day, shoutout to Uncle Larry! I got the mango slush with 75% sugar along with lychee boba and it was very good. The service was great, helpful team members. Love the Larry June artwork along with the rest of the decor! So glad I was able to visit/support!
Milk tea does NOT come with boba despite the image in the menu showing it. Tea is also an unpalatable lukewarm temperature if you order without ice. This is on top of the order taking 15 minutes. That said, they did see my reaction and offered to add some ice & boba after, but I think that was just the employees being nice. Don't go here but tip well if you do.
Of all the Boba places in the city, Honey Bear is my favorite hidden gem! The Strawberry Milk boba is my fave. They use fresh strawberries and not some generic syrup flavor to make it taste like strawberries. Also supporting local biz is a bonus!

Boba was not cooked well, and the service felt somewhat inattentive. No one greeted us when we walked in, and we had to get their attention while standing right in front of them. Based on our experience, we probably would not return, even if we were craving boba.
I decided to come back while I was in Dogpatch. I noticed they have some new menu items such as rose green tea and rose green milk tea, and pineapple tea and pineapple slush, but these items are only listed next to the ordering counter and are not yet added to the main menu on the wall so you have to ask about the costs. I ordered the pineapple tea, 24oz which was $6.25 before tip, and asked for 50% ice (the lowest they allow) and 25% sweetness. The barista was friendly and made the drink within a couple minutes. There is no seating inside or outside the store currently. The drink was still sweet yet I could also taste the bitterness of the tea. I really liked the tropical fruity flavor and would recommend this if you are looking for a refreshing drink with strong fruit flavor.
When I think of neighborhoods in SF that are home to some tasty boba shops, Dogpatch isn't really the first that comes to mind. The Richmond and Sunset are usually at the top of the list, given just the plethora of options available, but I'm starting to realize this part of the city deserves more consideration! While the number of places to choose from aren't nearly as plentiful, the ones that I've tried here (and in the immediate vicinity) have all been so good! Boba Guys over on 16th (just on the edge of Potrero Hill) is probably the best in the area, and Little Sweet is always a great go-to for me. However, having been to Honeybear Boba a few times now, it looks like I have another to add to the rotation! Compared to other boba shops, Honeybear Boba is rather unassuming. In lieu of the bright, trendy, IG-driven aesthetic others employ, the decor here is a bit simpler and more subdued. That being said, their drink menu is still rather impressive. While they don't offer any sorts of food/snacks, the drinks are interesting, ranging from classic sorts of milk teas, fruity teas, and cremas to slushes, lemon-based drinks, and a handful of house specialties. Similarly, their selection of toppings lacks more unique offerings, like agar and popping boba, but it has all of the staples along with milk substitutes in soy and oat milks. -- WINTERMELON GREEN TEA...$5.25 (16oz) My friend who suggested Honeybear Boba recommended this one to me, but I thought it was just okay. For me, the taste of the wintermelon was rather subtle, so this felt more like a dark colored green tea with a slight aftertaste to it. I can see why she likes it, but it's (literally) not my cup of tea. -- STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE...$5.75 (16oz) Quite simply, one of the best I've ever had. Getting this 50% sweet was perfect, as the strawberries at the bottom were a bit intense. However, after mixing it, the overall sweetness was just right and the ratio of matcha to strawberries to the milk was really well balanced. Delicious! -- UNCLE LARRY'S DREAMSICLE...$5.75 (16oz) I love orange creamsicles, so I couldn't resist trying this. Although I do wish the taste and consistency had been creamier, the sweetness level was just right at 50% and I liked the hit of orange flavor. Just make sure you shake this before your stab your straw in (incorporating the two layers is a must!). Beyond the drinks, the other thing that I really liked are the workers here. Each time I've been, they've all been super friendly and the wait for your order is never all that bad. What's more, during my most recent visit, they were giving out samples of a new flavor they are testing out - a Rose Milk Tea that was really, really good! Even though Boba Guys has typically been our default whenever we've found ourselves on this side of the city and in search of milk tea, Honeybear has undoubtedly worked its way into the mix. It certainly doesn't hurt that there's never been much of a line, but it's also nice that we've been able to stop off for a drink while walking around after eating nearby. And considering how it seems like there are more and more interesting places popping up in the Dogpatch, it's safe to say I'll be back, especially if that Rose Milk Tea makes its way onto the menu!
Great boba place! I always get the brown sugar crema and the Hong Kong milk tea. Pretty legit and delicious drinks, warm and chewy boba. Service is fast and efficient. Definitely will come here more often, but prices here are more expensive now. read more
Honeybear definitely surprised me. The only knowledge I had about this place is that one of the cofounders is Larry June which is why my bf wanted to try it. Just from the menu alone, I was suspicious that the drinks would be overly and artificially sweet. I settled for a taro matcha latte with boba and did 25% sweetness. Just as they advertised, they do use ceremonial grade matcha, and it was noticeably present in the drink. The boba was very soft and chewy, and probably some of the better boba I've had in a while. The taro was present initially in the drink but it disappeared soon after, but I still really liked the matcha on its own. 25% sweetness was perfect since the boba also added its own sweetness to the drink and allowed for the matcha flavor to shine. If we didn't get boba, perhaps 50% would be acceptable. I would definitely come back for some more matcha, and it's also near a cal train station which is convenient. read more

02.25.2024 - Boba time! After getting my piercing at Body Manipulations, my hubby found a nearby boba spot that was within walking distance. Being a milk tea freak that I am, of course I agree to check this place out. Love that their menu was not overwhelming with "stuff." Several options under each section made my order easy to make. I'm a sucker for crema teas. Something about having a strong/bitter tea base that evenly balances out with the sweet/salty, fluffy crema gets me sipping this all day, everyday. My go-to is always black tea, but Honeybear Boba had Wintermelon with Crema. I ordered the 16oz. Wintermelon Crema, 50% ice and 25% sugar. It took less than 3 minutes for my drink to be ready. Kudos to quick delivery! Such adorable cups! I shake, shake, shake - stab my straw in and I take a big gulp. Oh boy, it tasted like I got 110% sugar. It was super sweet and almost syrupy. But the flavor was delish! Caramel-like, toasty, brûlée goodness. I know with Wintermelon drinks, oftentimes the sugar cannot be adjusted due to its natural sweet state, but it was way too sweet for my taste. I needed the ice to hurry up and melt in order to enjoy my drink. Even after the ice melted, the strong taste of Wintermelon was still present. I absolutely loved this. The people working here appeared to be disconnected though. It felt like "just hurry up and order, and leave" kinda vibe. Still had about an hour before they closed, but felt like we walked in 5min prior to closing. Opps. read more

I got the honey milk tea in 50% sugar and it was still super sweet! I felt that my drink lacked the black tea taste and was just extremely sweet. Next time I think I'll go for a different drink. The service was fast though. I got my drink soon after ordering. The interior is also pretty cute with some decorations and some merch they are selling. There are no seats though. read more
Small corner shop, I didn't know what to expect, but it's cute. No seating options, street parking only. My bf wanted to visit since he is a huge Larry June fan! Mostly just boba drinks, we were both surprised there were no juices really. He got some flavored green tea and I got the strawberry matcha. I didn't love the matcha as the drink didn't really blend well together. The strawberry just seemed to be a purée at the bottom and the matcha just feel kind of flat. I would visit this boba shop more often if I lived closer. I've been here multiple times and tried different drinks. I've liked everything I have tried so far. The ones I like the most are Uncle Larry's Dreamsicle and Matcha Crema. I am lactose sensitive so I usually sub with oat milk. The boba is nice and chewy. This is quick service with no seating so be prepared to take your drink with you. I like supporting small businesses, and even more reason to support Mr. Larry June. Good job Larry. read more

3.5 stars to be more accurate. I really enjoyed the matcha but the strawberry syrup at the bottom was way too sweet for me. Next time I come back I would order the matcha again but without the strawberry. Would be nice if they were fresh. There's not really any matcha spots in this area of the city so the matcha being great is very much appreciated. read more

Small, bare bones boba shop owned by Larry June. Unfortunately none of our three drinks were winners. Bitter green milk tea with hard lychee jelly. Two sips & I was done. One companion ordered a thai ice tea which was deemed "fine" but again, the boba were extremely firm & inedible. (Good thing we checked before leaving the store because a topping was missing from this drink, an oversight the staff promptly corrected.) Another person's strawberry lemonade, a standard beverage we thought couldn't be eff'ed up, was sickly sweet. Friendly, quick service, however, the drinks are not worth a second visit for us. read more

Came here after the giants game since it was close by. Nice location and not somewhere in sf where it's shady if you know what I mean. Pretty quiet area on the weekend I would say. There is street parking around it. Ordered the green tea with boba which was good and also the honey lemon green tea which I would say was pretty strong in the tea area but still good. The place is small and gets hot inside, but you can go outside and wait for your drink. They make your drinks fast and I wish Larry June had more merch other than sweaters and stickers and keychains since I know other ppl were also looking for other kind of souvenirs. Would come here again to try other drinks since they have a lot of choices to choose from. read more

Came to the Restoration Hardware nearby and was in the mood for some boba so we stopped by this place on the way there. Cool, trendy store with some cool looking merch out front. We went with the honey milk tea with boba. Pretty average tea and the boba was also not super impressive. At 75% sweetness was still a little too sweet. read more

Went back to this place for the first time in a long time. They use to be really good but after today I won't be going back. I ordered the Uncle Larry orangesicle, I've had this drink a bunch of other times. This looked and tasted bad I brought it up to them and they told me that's how it's supposed to be. read more
There was only meter parking around this location. There were a few people in line in front of us, but the wait time wasn't that long. I like the simple menu, and have some unique flavors. So I gave mangonada a tried. Even though it came automatic 100 percent sweet, but it tasted very bland. Maybe need lesser ice, and more flavoring. read more

I wanted to try something new in sf and saw this place was highly rated and it definitely deserves the rating it has! I got a honey milk tea with pudding and 50% sweetness and it was the perrrrfect amount of sweetness cuz I love to taste the tea in my milk tea without it being too creamy. read more

Needed a milk tea/boba break after getting a tattoo and my boyfriend found Honeybear Boba to try. We ordered the Mango Green Tea, Thai Tea, Hong Kong Milk Tea, & Black Milk Tea. The Hong Milk Tea was mine and I was excited to try it since only so many boba places have it. Unfortunately I was not impressed as it didn't taste like Hong Kong Milk Tea. It tasted more like milk. My boyfriend didn't have an issue with the Thai Tea, but it isn't hard to mess up. My best friend thought the black milk tea was just average. I wasn't really impressed with the drinks and think the quality can be increased. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly though! read more

Visited Honeybear Boba as I had a Boba craving and it was the closest nearby. I think it's been my second or third time, trying it, and in the past, I've gotten the brown sugar milk tea. Strawberry Matcha latte is actually one of my favorite combinations so I thought I would give it a try here. My friend was the one who handled the ordering and pick up so I can't speak to that portion of the service, which, in the past has been friendly and efficient, but I can speak to the drink. The Matcha component was very well done and I could taste the realness of the Matcha used. For me, it's always important that matcha drinks feature a distinct and quality matcha flavor or else it isn't worth it. My one critique would be the strawberry portion of the drink, which I thought was a bit lacking. You can see in the photo that there isn't much of a strawberry element in the drink and this is also reflected in the flavor, so I mostly tasted Matcha latte with small hint of strawberry. I think that upping the amount of strawberry in the drink to fully round out the flavors would push this specific drink to five stars read more
Local to the Dogpatch neighborhood, Honeybear Boba is one of the most affordable bobas I have gotten in the Bay Area. I was surprised to see that the prices for the smaller size are less than $6.00. This place doesn't have a seating area. It's more of a grab and go place. It's near a couple of restaurants which makes it convenient if you want to go out and eat for dinner. The servers were very kind and welcoming. They were very patient when I asked questions and specifications about the drink I want. I often go for the matcha latte. The other flavors look really cool. They have a neon sign on one of the walls and the walls have a wooden setup, which is really cool. The matcha tasted so good - you can taste the equality and the bitterness of the organic matcha. I would definitely come here again, trying out a different flavor. read more
I ordered the Taro tea and it was very good! I was looking for options that didn't have caffeine but weren't fruit teas. I felt the sweetness was perfect and I also liked the consistency quite a bit. I'd definitely order the Taro milk tea again. Also, the boba was sooo nice. I've had other flavors from Honey Bear Boba and they haven't been my favorite, so I was pleasantly surprised by the Taro! The staff and service was quick and friendly. They took my order and in under 6 minutes had the boba ready. It was a bit loud so hard to hear but that didn't mean much to me! The ambiance is very neighborhood boba shop plus music venue. I know a local Bay Area artist owns the boba shop, so their influence is very prevalent in the shop! read more
This spot is located near the 22nd St Caltrain station so we made a quick pitstop. The logo on all the cups and signage is super cute so we were excited to try this spot! We ordered: - Strawberry Matcha with boba - Wintermelon Crema with boba (30% sweet) The Wintermelon crema was pretty good as expected, and the boba consistency was QQ. However I wasn't a huge fan of my Strawberry Matcha. After mixing it as recommended before drinking, I didn't get much of a strong matcha taste, it was almost watery, and the strawberry was leaning closer to the sweetness of preserves which can get a little overwhelming sometimes. I do have a sweet tooth so usually overly sweet additions I don't mind but this one was even a bit much for me. read more
I ordered a strawberry matcha latte on my way home from the grocery store. I think I waited about 10 minutes or so and was the only customer besides a mobile order an hour or so before the store closed. The logo for the store is cute. Who doesn't love a little bear winking with a smile on its face?? But the boba, an extra 50 cents. $7 total. And I had maybe 8 pearls total in the bottom of my cup. They used a ton of ice so the flavor was diluted. Could hardly taste the strawberry, mostly green matcha. I found some sort of plastic stem in my drink which dropped this to a 3 star. I normally don't find anything inedible in my drinks from boba shops. You are able to adjust the sweetness of the drink and the ice according to my receipt, but the cashier didn't tell me that. Neither was it listed anywhere on the menu. I'll give this place another chance since the hours are excellent and I go by this area frequently. The pearls felt very processed, over the top chewy. The honey that was supposedly stirred into the drink was condensed in my first sip. Like a really really sweet first sip. After stirring it around the honey blended nicely. This experience affirmed my initial impression. Mid grade boba place despite the popularity Anyways try it for yourself. A few minutes walk from the 22nd Street Caltrain so not bad. I thought their sugar levels are pretty distinct, at 50% you could tell there's some sweetness but it's very light and you get the tea flavor more. No dine in, no outlets, no restrooms. Pretty small shop with space inside to merely stand and wait. Green Milk Tea with Boba - very strong tea flavor, balance is definitely skewed to the tea over milk. Boba is chewy with a light flavor, seems to be honey boba not brown sugar. 50% sweetness was close to 25% at other places but that's perfect with me. read more
