Let me start this review off by saying I have been to many restaurants in the United States on various road trips.. lived in Vegas, LA, Mimi, San Diego and have really seen some excellent dining. I am originally from Marion and I must say I will always keep coming back to this place. First thing the food and drinks are great. Beer isn't really for me... but they always have new IPAs available on draft. The cocktails are where it's at if you ask me.. not too strong but you don't need too many. Red Sangria, Cranberry Mule, Espresso Martinis are all top. Usually have the Haddock Tacos or Chicken Sandwich for lunch - Cashew Scallops or Seafood Combo w lobster for dinner. They never miss! Don't forget to try the chale and something from the desert menu. Let's start with the positives. The food was very good. Unfortunately, I will probably not go back. The service was poor at best. My husband and I arrived for our 5:45 reservation. We sat close to 6pm. That's fair and good. Our waitress rushed us to order and rushed us throughout our meal. We had a few appetizers and each had two drinks. Just before 7:00 we were finishing our second glass of wine and our waitress told us "they" are asking us to leave bc we had finished our food. We had already paid and left a tip over 20%. We probably would have been leaving within 10 minutes anyway. With tip, the bill was close to $100. Doesn't that entitle a person to finish their wine? Just not that great. They used to have the BEST homemade cake. I haven't been since Covid started and was so excited to take my boyfriend here. Food is mediocre at best. Even on a Tuesday night, past the tourist season, and with many empty tables, the noise was just barely tolerable. I will not be back again for this reason alone. I couldn't find anything on the menu that I wanted to order as a main dish, but I did spot BBQ ribs as an appetizer. I find it strange that they have ribs, but you can't get them as a main dish. I decided to not get a main dish and just get the ribs and calamari appetizers. The glass of cabernet I had was not worth the money (2*). Service was above average. The calamari was good (4*). The ribs were dry without flavor and covered with an extremely spicy sauce. The kind of sauce places put on things to hide the fact the underlying food is bad (2*). My wife had a burger and fries. We've come here now a few times. The first time we came the food was absolutely phenomenal. It was totally worth the half hour date night excursion to explore. Second time (last night) was disappointing in the food department. I ordered a different type of pizza than last time and was disappointed with how runny the pizza was and how little chourico was on the pizza. Nonetheless it was good, but wouldn't order again. Last time my husband got the seafood bake which he raved about. It came with garlic mashed potatoes that were to die for. However... Really great experience here! Had bbq blueberry wings as an app. Surprisingly good, I thought it would be overly sweet, but it was just right. My wife had the fish and chips and oh boy was it good and large portion of haddock. I had the fish tacos, man oh man it was tasty and hot the spot. The fish was haddock and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The aoli sauce and slaw inside of it were a great compliment. We shared the mac n cheese and it was absolutely great. I'd recommend making a reservation online since it did get busy and you can choose outside, bar or indoor seating at this time. The low star rating is mostly for service. Our waitress dropped a minimum of 5 items and stuck her finger in my water. It was not very busy for a Saturday lunch. She brought chicken tenders instead of bone in wings, but at that point we knew if we sent it back we would be there for another hour. The tenders delivered were garlic parm that included a puddle of melted butter underneath, needless to say, they were less than appetizing. I had the fish sandwich with sweet potato fries that was pretty good. As it was being served, the side of ketchup was flung across the room onto other guests though.
