First of all, I am glad that this place braved on during this difficult time and is still open. This place probably opened during the onset of Covid-19. Anyways, I went to Brews and Barrels yesterday and was really impressed by their adjustment to Covid-19. The place is setup of Social Distancing in the dining area, bar and outside. The menu is adequate and is more of a casual fare but I guess their USP is the collection of Whiskeys, Rye, Bourbon and Scotch which though not very extensive will meet folks expectations. My friend and I will be visiting this place again and try other whiskeys. read more

Great service and good enough food. The only negative is the weird lack of draft list. This place serves a couple basic beers (Blue Moon and Miller) and then says they have "6 craft beers" on tap, but doesn't list them on the menu. Which is fine since presumably they rotate at least a bit, but most places provide at least a paper printout of their current beers so you, you know, can buy them. At a minimum, staff need to be better trained on the options because upon asking what the 6 beers were the waitress simply said "there's an amber, there's a lager, there's a...hmm...." You're called "Brews & Barrels;" people come here to drink. Have a real beer list. read more

The food and service here are wonderful. They refill all the drinks and the free chip appetizer for you without you having to ask. We enjoyed the family app platter, chicken with caper sauce, extra yummy mashed potatoes, and crab cakes. My son liked the fries but not the pulled pork sandwich. Came here on a Saturday afternoon when I had a small gap in the schedule of an event in the area. We were looking for a unique and tasty place for a quick lunch that was close by - and this hit the spot! The decor is awesome, and really stands out. Any outdoorsmen, hunters, handymen, or just lovers of wood furniture will enjoy this place. It's like a cross between a Longhorn steakhouse, Founding Farmers, and an agricultural museum haha. Very cool, and very unique having eaten in a tremendous amount of places throughout the DMV. Their designers nailed it! Wooden furniture, taxidermed animals, gear-based lighting, wood wall panels, Mason jar mugs. The bar was very nice and well stocked - it would be a great place to watch some sports. The place was a little empty, which was surprising. We chalked it up to the odd time of day, crazy weather, and the fact that the location is a little tucked away. We actually liked that it was tucked away - it made the parking much easier and was a good anchor point to have lunch, then explore the rest of the shopping center it was attached toz Our server was excellent, and very nice. The food was correct, and very tasty. We had a simple fancy pretzel, rueben, and burger. Everything was very delicious and we would order it again! There was one minor issue with the burger, which I didn't bring up because it wasn't a big deal. They asked me how I wanted the burger, and I said medium well. I usually like a medium but didn't want to risk any issues while traveling, so I chose medium well. However, when it arrived it was NOT medium well. It was in the middle between medium and medium rare. A medium well should have zero pink - and my burger had a large, well defined pink center. It was minor, and that's how I usually order my food when not traveling, so I ate it anyway and it was delicious. However - getting doneness done right on a burger or steak is crucial to the clientele they seem to be targeting. They have got to get a little closer to the desired doneness - you never know someone's reasons for asking for a more well done burger (they may have autoimmune issues, or be traveling like me and want to play it safe). And I'm not naive to the challenges of getting the right doneness on a burger. It's tough. But if you offer the regular full doneness scale (R, MR, M, MW, WD) , you have to get close. If you can't consistently hit with that level of precision - use the shortened, simple scale (All pink / Some pink / No Pink). Either scale is fine. The place was a little quiet, which had us speaking in hushed tones at the beginning when it was empty. I would have appreciated a little bit louder background music, but that was also minor. Overall it was an awesome place, and a great addition to a busy day for us. We will definitely be back when we're in the area. read more

We came on a Wednesday night at 5. By 5:30 the bar was full so be sure to get there early if you want seats at the bar. The service was great. Francisco and Anthony were on point. Always checking in to see if we needed anything. The chips and dip were given to us twice. I ordered the wings which were great and the chopped salad that was great as well. I wish the draft beers were easy little cheaper. The glasses of wine are less then a miller lite at happy hour. They are doing a great job in customer service. I think they do well. I will definitely be back for sure. And it was great to see Kyle move over from taco daddy as well! read more

Sometimes here some dishes are unavailable, but you will definitely find something you want from what can be served. We got Caesar salad, Texas fries and pork quesadillas. Came for dinner on a Wednesday night during the soft opening. I was immediately struck by the lodge/cabin (or inside of a barrel) feel to the place. I also love the layout with the restaurant seating sectioned off from the bar so whoever you go with isn't distracted by the TVs at the bar the entire meal (we all know those people). Shortly after being seated, we were given a plate of the most addictive kettle chips with dip I've ever had, and I'm not even a potato chip person. Out waitress made my day (but killed my objective to eat healthy) when she brought over a second plate of them because she noticed that we liked them. I got a blackberry cocktail, which wasn't too sweet, but also wasn't very strong. They have several local liquors and beers on the menu, so look for those! For my meal I got the ahi tuna salad, which I would get again. My boyfriend got the Reuben, which was tasty, but was surprisingly thin compared to the Reubens I often see piled high with meat. This was not that sandwich. Everything was fairly priced with sandwiches, salads and cocktails both ranging from about $10-$14. Entrees are pricier, but there are still less expensive options. I hope this place gains popularity and does well! I can see it appealing to the Kentlands and Gaithersburg communities as a whole. read more

Took my husband here cause he loves different beers. The food wasn't great. The ribs were overcooked and I wasn't in love with the sauce they use. We also got the sampler and the wings was the best thing. Onion rings were bland, and needed a nice sauce to go with them. We probably won't go back. read more

The service was good. They were doing their best with a big group. I would not recommend the fish and chips, it was if I was eating the fish fillets you buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. Great local place for happy hour! Loved the free crispy chips right when we were seated. Not sure what the sour cream sauce was but we just couldn't get enough. We shared the B&B platter (a mix of Buffalo wings, yum yum shrimp, onion rings, and quesadillas). Wings were crispy and flavorful. Shrimp was awesome. Quesadillas were good too. This is a really cute & casual place. They have a great menu - cocktails, appetizers, and sandwiches. We tried the appetizer platter, which is perfect for a small group of people - the shrimp were my favorite! I had a veggie burger as my entree and wow - it was probably one of the best veggie burgers I've had! I eat meat, just prefer veggies sometimes, and this was packed with veggies and flavor. Their website menu shows brunch from from 11-2pm, the menu at the restaurant says 11-3, and the waiter told us brunch is from 11-2:30. What the hell time is your damn brunch, then? They also have outdated menus on the website with regards to the prices. Brunch menu online says $5 mimosas. And yet when you get to the restaurant they are $8. What a joke. It's not difficult to keep your website updated, and seems like a ploy to lure people in with lower prices that are 50% more when you get to the restaurant. Do not come here. read more

I usually don't post food reviews but I have to say this place was very disappointing. I'm glad others had better experiences because mine was not great. We ordered the yum yum shrimp and Brussels sprouts as our starter and they weren't anything special. Too much sauce on both in my opinion. My husband ordered the Cajun pasta which he really liked, however, I got just a regular steak salad and it was not good. I really tried to like it but the steak had no flavor, was tough and hard to cut and the crispy onions on top were far from crispy - they were hard...Like they'd been fried too long. In addition, if you look around, the seats are all ripped up and there are some interior things that could be worked on. To top it off, there was a MOUSE (no I'm not kidding) that ran underneath the table next to us and the guests basically said it loud enough for people around to hear. The waiter went and got her manager, I immediately left and had my husband stay to pay the bill. Unfortunately, the whole experience turned me off and I will not be returning. read more

Came here on a whim (Friday afternoon) after eating at Ranken, which is a fantastic ramen place in the Kentlands. I get that we came at a weird time, but my Manhattan might as well have been water with a splash of luxardo cherry juice. Wife's old fashioned was... palatable. Apple cinnamon chimi dessert just tasted like it was filled with Gerber's apple flavor. The side of ice cream was more ice than cream. We absolutely enjoy the happy hours here - lots of food and drink choices at reasonable prices. During the cautionary COVID times, they have a nice outdoor set up with tables far enough that each party can enjoy their food and drinks with peace of mind. Service was very friendly. As evening approached, they had beautiful string lights that made the space twinkle. Live music added to the nice ambience and heat lamps kept us nice and warm on a fall night.
