Always good service and food here! I really love how big the food and beer menus are, and the staff is always so friendly. I visited last week with a coworker for lunch, and had the boneless wings with Thai Chili sauce along with a Cherry Walnut Salad. Both were very good! Tried the barbacoa tacos last night, and a farmhouse ale - did not disappoint! My boyfriend tried the chicken pub sandwich, and it was delicious! Cool pub to sit down and watch football. We decided to have dinner here and we began with S tier cheese curds that were really out of this world. We also ordered a marg that while affordable, was not the best. We both ordered different variations of their burgers. Unfortunately the burgers came out cold, like actually cold as if they were sitting out for 15 minutes. My girlfriends burger was extremely salty, as well. I think that most components like bacon and sauce come very salty already. I would recommend getting no seasoning on the burger. Fries were actually quite good. I highly recommend it. The only bad thing I can say is with the beverage manager. Why would you have a Guinness sign in your restaurant and then NOT serve Guinness. They have a large beer menu, so I was confused. I saw they serve Harp, and I wanted a "proper" Half & Half, but was disappointed. This restaurant/bar is very centrally located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids and is really close to all the sports/entertainment venues (easy walking distance) so it's a great choice if that's what you're downtown for - if you can get in. When there isn't some big event downtown it's a great place to come have a drink and hang out after work. The food is typical bar food but clearly a few pegs higher in quality than what you would find in a run of the mill bar. It's not "fine dining" but it's not meant to be either. Their drinks are really good (they make a good Old Fashioned), they have an excellent beer selection and the service is great with the exception of their reservation system. They do take reservations so if you're planning on coming here you should probably make one, especially if there's some big concert in town or something. When we were here last we walked in without reservations but found places up at the bar. It was frustrating because there were open tables all over the place but they were reserved, which is fine, but many of them sat unused for almost the entire time we sat at the bar which was at least a couple of hours before the concert we were in town to see started. It seems like the hostess could have said something like "we can give you this table but we have people coming in at 7:00 so you would have to be done by then." Who knows, maybe they've tried that in the past and have been confronted with lingering guests who don't want to leave when expected. At any rate, it seemed like a really inefficient use of their resources. Bottom line: This is a really good place to come get drinks and a bite to eat. It's not upscale food in terms of fine dining but it is "fine bar food" (if that makes any sense). Seating is not a problem most normal days but if there is a show or other big event in town, or even if it's a weekend, make sure to call in a few days ahead for reservations or you might get stuck staring at empty tables for a while. This place is close to my work. Therefore, I go a lot. One of my favorite things? During lunch rush, they pick up the phone in a respectable amount of time and your food almost never takes more than 20 minutes to make. That is saying something since they are right downtown. There is a wide spread of cuisine, so this is also a great spot for a business lunch or dinner. While I like everything that I have gotten, and it's always been consistent, there isn't anything here that I get a crazy craving for in the middle of the night. Their apps are good, and have a good portion size. My regular item is the bomb.com. It's a chicken sandwich with a wonderful sauce, bacon and fried onions. The balance is great. Pro tip- for the love of god, keep the toothpick in the sandwiches. They are intentionally there, not just for decor. I have eaten at Brick and Porter several times and have never been disappointed. The burgers are to die for- my favorites are the 3 B's burger and the Otto burger. The beer battered French fries are awesome too. I don't think I've ever had something here that I don't like. Portions are very generous, waitstaff is always great. I can't really comment on the beer selection because that is not my area of expertise, but my SO is always satisfied. If you live in the Grand Rapids area, you can have Brick and Porter delivered through the Uber Eats app. We have done this a couple of times and every time I've been extremely impressed with how fast they get our food made and brought to us, still to temp and neatly put together. Food and ambiance was good. Service was good except for one thing. On business and my first time here. I hear a guy a few seats away order a side of loaded fries with his Deluxe Club. I order shrimp tacos, and a side of loaded fries. The server puts the order in. It comes out and the portion of loaded fries is more than I expected. After I get done with half of the loaded fries I realize she thought I ordered the appetizer. I ask the bartender about this and said I ordered the side of fries, which you can purchase in the menu, and asked for them loaded. She proceeds to tell me that can't be done and all they offer is the appetizer. (Question in my mind is why did you let me order a "side" of them if you don't order that anyway? She should have known then that I was not intending on the appetizer. ) I ask why the guy down the rail was able to. She said because those fries were a side offered with the entree. (But they offer fries as a separate side. I'm confused. She showed no interest in addressing her error on my bill and did not seem concerned at all about her error, so I addressed it with the tip. If a customer orders something you don't offer as a server you don't say "ok" and then submit the order different than what is ordered. If someone orders something you don't offer you tell the customer you don't offer that. It still makes no sense why if you order the "side" of fries you can't get them loaded but a "side" of fries with a club sandwich can be loaded. read more

Both come with a choice of sides, we opted for the beer battered fries. Both burgers were delicious, but I felt the Three B's was over powered with pepper. I got an appetizer and a meal and was super unsatisfied so I left a yelp (maybe google or fb I don't remember) ANYWHO, just said something to the extent of "over priced and not worth it in my opinion" AND THEIR MANAGER (or owner or someone) CONTACTED MY MANAGER AT GORDON FOOD SERVICE and complained that I left a bad review and threatened taking their business elsewhere and so I (at 23 years old in one of my first corporate jobs) got called into my boss's office and sat down with our LEGAL DEPARTMENT and was told that they can't force me to remove it but would really urge me to... so I did.
