Great sandwiches but the asparagus salad was amazing! Yum! Would definitely return for both!

Ate lunch today with two other female friends. Our service was outstanding! Think our waitress was Ella and she took excellent care of us. I had the Bluebird salad and I can't wait to go back and have it again. Delicious salad with tomatoes , avocado and small pieces of fried chicken. My friends both had the chicken salad sandwiches and the mushroom soup. They said that their sandwiches were good. Both took the 2nd half of their sandwiches home. The iced tea was good also. This place was very good. I just moved back to Mountain Brook and what a perfect addition. I had previously been to the location downtown but this one is a little nicer and more upscale. It has the same great food, salads, sandwiches, nich items like speciality tacos, cheeseplates and more. This place is INCREDIBLE! I honestly wish they have a location in Houston so I could visit regularly. This is an ADORABLE restaurant in a super cute area of town. We had gone to the zoo and wanted to grab a bite before walking the botanical gardens and we came across Brick and Tin and were so happy! The service is great. They're friendly (everyone from the cashier to the food runner to the busser were super nice and personable!) Now the food. Omg. Y'all it is GOOD. My mom and my sisters and I all ate every scrap of food on our plates. I got the brisket panini with mushroom soup. They obviously use incredibly high quality ingredients with great care. The mushroom soup was like velvet. The flavor was nuanced and just fantastic. Easily the best mushroom soup I've ever eaten. The brisket panini was awesome! The meat, the onions, even the bread. Everything was spot on! My sisters had the butternut squash soup and one had a ham sandwich the other a turkey. They ate every last bit and were raving. My mom got the tacos with a side salad and couldn't stop talking about how delicious and unique the dressing was. Honestly? I could have eaten every meal in Birmingham here and been very happy. I am so in love with Brick and tin. When I want a truly delicious, perfect lunch...this is where I go. It is easily the best lunch in town. Today was no exception...I had the brisket sandwich, my favorite go to sandwich. Please never take it off the menu. I'll be so upset. It is cooked and seasoned perfectly...On the most delicious bread with the perfect amount of white sauce. My sweet pea soup was served so hot, even as a to go soup. It had the perfect, most delicate amount of mint. My brown butter coconut cookie was a chewy-coconut- salty piece of heaven and the seasonal strawberry cookie with marshmallow reminded me of a gourmet version of my all time favorite Pepperidge Farm Verona Cookie. My daughter and I were shopping in the area and came by to give Brick and Tin a try. We both had one of the salads, I think mine was the magnolia salad and she had the bluebird salad. When the salads arrived, I ask if it had dressing, waitress said it is tossed turned around and left. I never give a bad review on any restaurant. We had to flag down a different waiter to get more dressing. It had maybe a teaspoon in it. We also asked for the chicken to be added. It was placed around the outside of the salad and was plain, no salt, no marinade or grilled or any taste. I was in huge chunks. Im not sure why it only had one cucumber, a small pice of zucchini, 2 pecans and a few kernels of corn. My daughters was about the same.She had ranch dressing on the side. It was mostly lettuce with large pieces that were mostly stem like 2 pieces of spinach. Folks if you are going to list the ingredients put some of them in the salad to taste. I was so looking forward to a good salad. Ice would have been nice for the water we were served. We left still hungry after the skimpy salads. We came home grabbed a granola bar and back out to pick up the kids from school. read more

We visited Brick and Tin today, it was our third time. The two previous times were excellent experiences, this time was awful. The asparagus were virtually raw and extremely hard. The adjoining tables and floor were being cleaned while we were eating. We were made to wait for a manager who basically dismissed our complaints saying well the restaurant has to be clean, while he himself, dressed in jeans, tshirt and baseball cap, was not a fine example of cleanlyness himself. We are very disappointed and will not be back. read more

LOVE this place. Inexpensive lunch/dinner spot that serves great sandwiches, appetizers, soups, and fresh/seasonal salads. I LOVE their brisket sandwich with a side salad. Also- be sure to order their crispy Brussels as an appetizer. Their winter salad is divine. Also- the atmosphere is super cool. Feels very modern yet antique. Had lunch with a friend today and it was delish! Had the Alabama Summer salad which was the heirloom tomato salad with fried chicken! Had the half salad and it was enough cannot imagine a full one. We split the peach pie and it was absolutely fantastic. read more

After a 45 minute wait for our food, as we watched people sit and order after us enjoy their meal. We finally got two of the five dishes. Cold and uninspired. Two of us Sat and waited another 5-7 minutes for the rest. Asked the waiter if the food should be cold he said "no, I'll go heat these up". Good idea however there's now a very well done egg on top which should be runny. Thanks for the microwaved dish pal. The rest of the food came. Taste was good. But the poor inital experience wrecked our pallates. We were given an apology and gift certificates for a return visit. Those GCs found their way to the trash. Bad service. Food was a C at best. The downtown location is soooo much better. The brisket wasn't good. The butternut squash soup wasn't good. They were out of several of the few items that they have on their menu. They weren't busy yet we still waited 5 minutes just to get our beer. I don't recommend eating here. I will say that I enjoyed my salad BUT it was heavy on the dressing. read more

I stopped into Brick & Tin yesterday , when I walked in around 3:30 I was the only customer . There was a large table of people , that consisted of the manager and some employees . I was greeted by a woman at the bar who told me to order there and then told me they would bring me my food when it was ready . I also ordered a bakery item which I had to get from the back , when I went back there to put that on my order the man said you ordered the Brisket sandwich and called me by name . I said no I ordered the turkey sandwich . He corrected that and I went to sit down and proceeded to sit there for 20 minutes . The girl at the counter who took my order completely ignored me . The gentleman who waited on me in the back walked by and said you still have not received your food , I said no . He said I'll get right on it, he also told me he was going to refund my money once the manager got out of his meeting and that this service was unacceptable . Within five minutes some other young Man came out with my food. I went to take a bite of my soup and literally burned my palate { which I now have a blister on top of my palate } , the soup was literally scalding !!! I informed this young man and his response was , well some people complain its not hot ENOUGH ! Never asked me if I was ok , I did not finish the soup and could only eat half my sandwich , due to my mouth be so sore ! I still have not received a refund on my credit card as I was promised . This place is very poorly run and I could not really give a good review on how the food was , due to the fact that I could barely eat . This place came highly recommended and unfortunately that was not the case . read more

I've had mixed experiences here and at the downtown location. This site is open for both lunch and dinner with plenty of seating available. I usually get the brisket sandwich, which is always perfectly done and wonderfully tender. I get a side house salad with homemade ranch. The real dill in the dressing is the perfect foil to the sweet brisket. My experience with the service is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes the water bottles on the the table stay full, other times empty. Since you order at the counter, be prepared to order as soon as you enter. Cocktail menu is small, but adequate. read more

I'm sorely disappointed in this location. Ice cold service and the $11.00 autumn salad was shockingly bland with a pathetic drizzle of toppings (dried cranberries, bleu cheese, plain walnuts, pear slices and an overpowering sherry vinegar). The $3.00 added chicken was unseasoned and flavorless. It's a wonderful location and has clean aesthetics, but they really need to work on their menu and service. read more

I had never been to the restaurant before and was meeting a friend who had suggested it. I arrived early. I was not greeted by anyone. No one even made eye contact. I sat down at a table and there were two people behind the bar and two people standing around on the side of the. At where I was sitting. Still no acknowledgement of my presence and no eye contact. By observation I realized that you had to place your order at the bar. It seems that a greeting would have been a nice and courteous thing to do. And maybe even asking if I had been there before, maybe a sign stating that you place your order at the bar -- at a minimum eye contact from the bored looking wait staff that would make it more comfortable to ask a question. The noise level was so bad that conversation was nearly impossible. The food was okay. Waiter unfriendly. read more

this was my first visit to Brick & Tin, and I brought my mom here for lunch after hearing good things about it from friends. We both ordered the Spring Chicken Panini and a salad. Mom enjoyed her classic salad and the Spring salad was delicious! (By the way, I usually kind of hate salads.) The panini, however, was rather a disappointment. The menu did say it was served on focaccia bread so I knew to expect a thicker than usual panini, but I did not expect this bread to have evidently been soaking in oil or butter since creation in preparation for its moment on the grill. The bread was literally dripping with oil, and it was very gross. I took the chicken off mine and ate it with my salad, the chicken was perfect. I tried to scrape some of the pecorino aioli off the bread but sll I could taste was the oil. My theory is whoever made the aioli was a tad heavy handed with the olive oil. I don't know. I'm not inclined to ever try that again. This was definitely not worth the price. Though the employees were all quite lovely and the restaurant is comfortable and easy to get through with a walker. (Mom had her cane, but I'm always checking for walker accessibility.) read more

great experience today! they were packed due to the upcoming holiday so I chose to sit at the bar all by my lonesome. my food was delicious (they have the best mushroom soup), the service at the bar was speedy and everyone was really friendly. I was really impressed on how quickly the ordering station girl was able to get orders taken and processed while being super sweet, attentive and helpful with any questions posed. great as always. thanks guys!! read more

One of my favorite new restaurants. A friend took me here for lunch and I had to come back the same week. Have tried the Brisket, Members Only, and Southern sandwiches all with classic salads. Never had one sandwich wishing I had ordered the other because they were all great. Kinda hits between Urban Cookhouse and Dram. A little more wholesome food than Cookhouse and a little scaled back from Dram. Really like the decor too. Just remember that they do get really busy during the lunch hour so get there early or be prepared to have to wait. read more

You aren't going to find a better salad in town. They change the menu regularly to reflect what's in season so the salads are always so delicious. They do the same with soups... So if you are looking for fresh, local and delicious, this is the place for you. read more

Totally agree with William S. I was excited when they open because I live close by. I have been there for lunch and early dinner on weekends. It always takes 30 minutes or more to get your food. One time on a Saturday afternoon (4pm), my two kids and I were the only patrons in the place. Food still took over 30 minutes ( two grilled cheeses and mac & cheese). Service is mediocre. This however, appears to be the norm in this area, think Olexa's when the service is even worse. On a positive note, place has a lot of character. So, if you go for the ambiance and atmosphere, want to see and be seen, have time to spare and have low expectations regarding the food, then this is your place. This place is amazing! I go in here all of the time because of the atmosphere, food, and staff. The bartender was attentive, kind, and hardworking- I felt well taken care of, without feeling smothered, and she made an amazing drink. The servers are on top of their game, and their baker is magnificent! I have not tried a bread or pastry that I haven't liked. The to go process is nice too, if you are in a rush. Where do I begin? Positives: staff was nice and helpful. Summer squash soup was really good. Negatives: women's bathroom was horrible... in desperate need of ventilation and air freshener. My husband had the yardbird panini - 1st chicken sandwich we've ever disliked; the pesto/aioli sauce I think is what ruined it. He also had a side garden salad - inedible unless you want a salad drowning in mayo, extremely overdressed. He picked the chicken off the sandwich and left everything else. And he's not a picky eater. I had the flounder w/a veggie succotash. Not good! Flounder was very bland and a bit fishy. Succotash (corn, peas, baby limas, bell peppers, okra) could have been pretty good, but the okra created a texture that was a little off putting; soaking it ahead of time would have eliminated that. The appetizer (fried veggies which happened to be tomatoes & okra) pretty tasty but it was a plate full of okra with two thin slices of Roma sized tomatoes cut in half. Obviously unbalanced. This was a surprising experience considering the reviews. Maybe it was a bad day, but I'm not daring enough to try again. read more
