Because we made a reservation and only when we showed up were we informed that there is a "90 minute seating policy" on weekends - meaning eat in 90 minutes and get out. Honestly we probably would have done so but the fact that we had to watch the clock ruined the meal. Plus, they rushed to food out so we were served our entrees while still eating our salads. The service was awesome - very attentive from when we walked in (four different people made sure we were taken care of) to our server, Jocelyn. The atmosphere was positive - a little toward the loud side, but not overpowering. The food was good and the portions generous. It's not exactly North End style Italian. I've been to the Brickhouse Cafe 5 times as of this review. Every time the food has been outstanding. North End quality italian food made available in the suburbs. It is small inside. A bar on the left with 3 bar tables. Then a dividing half wall in the middle that seperates the bar area from the dining area. The dining area has 8-10 tables and is fairly small, but doesn't make you feel cramped. The servers are very friendly and quick to answer any questions you have. The food is really really good. I have never had anything bad there. Some of my favorites are the Pene a la Vodka and the Chicken Picatta. They always have some sort of specials too. Everything is made to order. I also love the Aroncinni (breaded and fried rice and cheese balls) appetizer. Prices are reasonable too. The Penne a la Vodka is $14 and the Chicken Piccatta was $17. The owner (Vinny) is usually in the kitchen when I've been there. read more

My family and I visited the Brickhouse Café for the first time last night, and I was blown away by the service and the quality of the food. Our waitress, whose name escapes me at the moment, was fabulous. Knew the menu inside and out and was able to give us suggestions for everything. She told us about how she lives in Lakeville, but still drives to Dedham for work because she enjoys working there so much. That tells a lot about the quality of this restaurant. The food was to die for. Everything we ate was delicious. I had the Chicken Parm pizza and the Banana Walnut Bread Pudding for dessert- amazing! Will definitely be back! read more

Honestly this place is as good as it gets. They truly have their s*** figured out. The food is outstanding, fresh, and they never get any of our orders wrong. The taller blonde-haired woman is always working and has been there for quite some time, she basically runs show and is amazing at her job. The owner is a sweetheart, and I have never been in there without him coming up to tables and introducing himself. Parking is tricky, but that's the only downside. So.. I cannot comment about the food as we didn't stay long enough to try it.. As soon as we walk in the door we are ignored. The restaurant was not very busy. Finally after standing at the front door for about 5 minutes someone pointed at a table by the door and said " sit here". We asked if we could have a high top by the back so she said she would clean one off.. About 3 minutes later another girl comes over and tells us "we save the high tops for 3 or more parties". Understandably if there was a wait but there were 3 open tables. We informed her that the the other girl said she was clearing off a table for us.. She the huffed off, threw our menus on the table, came back to us and pointed " your table is all set" and walked away.. We should have left then but we didn't and walked ourselves back to the table ( trying to figure out which of the three open tables were ours). After that we waited 10 minutes with no service whatsoever.. Needless to say we had had enough and walked out.. On the way out I asked to speak to the manager.. A girl said she is it so I explained what happened.. Again, just rude.. We won't be back.. Sorry.. no need to spend money on a place that is completely RUDE!! read more

Six of us went there after an event without a reservation. The hostess was great and created a table for us on the bar side. Service was incredible! My water glass was never empty (and I drink at least 5 glasses a meal). Recommendations were spot on, and they even gave us a complimentary appetizer. A friend and I both ordered the eggplant involtini with homemade whole wheat rigatoni so they served it family style for us to split (way more food). I am VERY picky about my margaritas and this was one of the best I have ever had. Went here lastnight with my husband at 6:30pm & there was a 45min wait. We wanted atleast a drink from the bar while we waited but there was only 1 bartender & it was packed. Finally after almost 15mins he got us drinks. We got a table at 35mins which was good. The waitress took several minutes to acknowledge us because she too was busy. After waiting so long for our table we were anxious to order & starving! She finally came over & we ordered the clams app. I asked her for bread & a couple of waters & mentioned we were starving! After close to 15 mins we had no bread & someone brought over our app. The app was tasty but warm, not hot at all. Waitress came over to check on us & I asked again for our waters & bread. She had the busboy bring it over several mins later & the bread was ICE COLD. I ate it anyways. The garlic oil was so delicious though. Very disappointed with the lack of attention to such an important first impression (the bread) at a restaurant. The meals came after what seemed like forever. My husband got the steak tips & I got frutti del mar (?spelling) with mussels in a fra diavolo sauce. The portion was huge. However, again, my meal was warm & not hot. Assuming it was just sitting there waiting to be delivered to our table. My husband's meal was warm too but he had no complaints. Mussels were tasty & good quality. I noticed my pasta was so dry so when the waitress checked on us I asked for more sauce, which she got for me but it still seemed so dry. We skipped dessert, gave our tip & left shortly. Will never go back here. They are short staffed, the wait for a tiny cramped table is not worth it & you can get better local italian food elsewhere. read more

Mom & I went on a Saturday afternoon. Not another sole in the place, not even at the bar. We each ordered the chicken parm sandwich. Both came out burned black. The rolls it came on were not edible. We tried eating around the burnt but even the chicken had the burnt taste to it and was like rubber. When we complained, we were told "the oven is burning everything today". There was NO apology, just blamed the oven like "Oh well. Deal with it;". I would think you would not serve something that bad knowingly. Especially since we were the only customers! They took one sandwich off the bill which, looking back, we should have just walked out after we were served. I will NOT be going back there again. read more

My husband and I are in the dedhdam, MA area every 3 to 4 weeks to visit his mother in an assisted living facility there. While she's 85 years old and must use a cane or walker to get around, she still has a great appetite and has hardly rolled back her critical nature one iota. This time, we arrived on a friday night and took Mom out to one of those pretentious, expensive and lousy restaurants in Legacy Place Mall. For $140, all three of us had very mediocre food, shared a small, $30 carafe of pretty decent Montepulciano, and suffered through really poor service. I wanted to take Mom to a better place for lunch the next day, so I got busy on YELP. The Brickhouse cafe sounded like the complete antithesis of the Fri night restaurant, so we decided to try it for Sat.lunch. I knew nearly as soon as we arrived that the service was going to be good, because the host, who was also our waiter, was nothing but polite& helpful when Mom decided, as soon as we were seated and our drinks had arrived, that she was sitting in a draft and had to change tables immediately. The Brickhouse is open only for dinner during the week, and opens in time to serve brunch/lunch only on Sat. & Sun. Additionally, from brunch time through dinner time on weekends, the entire weeknight dinner menu is available. After a glance at the brunches available --- they sounded ok, but not nearly as exciting as the essence of red sauce that perfumed the air --- we all decided to try a selection from the vast collection of dinner food. It was not easy to choose as, because the descriptions of many of the meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, pizza, & pasta dishes sounded imaginative and delicious. Although both Mom and my husband decided to get pizzas --- we figured that at $10 each, the pizzas were probably oof the single serving variety --- the waiter told them that the pizzas were definitely large enough to share, at 14" across. So they ordered Individual green salads and a sausage and mushroom pizza to share. I chose the spinach salad topped with the optional grilled salmon, which the waiter offered to serve either simultaneously with my relatives' side salads or with their pizza. I choose the latter option. A few moments later, the waiter brought the side salads --- a generous portion of perfectly fresh, brightly colored romaine, truly red miniature pear tomatoes, cucumber, & red and green sweet peppers with a delicious, delicately flavored house vinaigrette --- & "for my munching pleasure," a basket of just-baked 7-grain & regular Italian bread, along with a saucer of very green (as in actually extra virgin) olive oil containing bits of roasted garlic. The pizza arrived about 5 minutes after my companions finished their salads. It was thin-crusted, perfectly baked (not left in the oven until the bottom blackened, but only until it was a perfect, toasty brown) and generously covered with freshly sauteed mushrooms and sweet sausage. Naturally, I had to at least try a few bites.... &totally agreed with Mom & my husband that it was excellent; crust, cheese, sauce and toppings were in perfect proportion to each other. My spinach salad looked great, & contained a generous portion of the greens along with all of the colorful ingredients in the side salads. But best of all, it was topped with a generous portion ---really, a thick fillet that must have weighed at least 8 ounces before cooking ---of lightly seasoned, perfectly grilled, freshly caught (not frozen & thawed) salmon. When coupled with more of the delicious, hot breads, the combination of tastes and textures created a wonderful meal. We'll definitely return to the Brickhouse in the near future so we can sample more entrees. In addition to the excellent food and great service, it felt good to give our business to a local family instead of a cookie-cuttered, mediocre shopping mall chain restaurant. Only one drawback: no handicapped access. To enter or exit Brickhouse,one must negotiate at least 3 steps. read more

We live in the area and have eaten at the Brickhouse a few times. It has never been fantastic, but our latest visit was by far the worst. We had 8 for breakfast on a recent Sunday morning. Our waiter was inattentive even surly at times. After ordering we waited over 45 minutes for our eggs and French toast. The waiter never came back to refill our drinks nor apologize for the wait time. Looking around the restaurant it was clear everyone was in the same situation (and the restaurant was far from full). I had a really excellent meal here of veal parm w/ spagetti. It's not super fancy but has good home cooking. The price was a bit high but the food was very good. The portions as mentioned before are very big. The host was very nice as well as the server. The bread was a little blah but what can ya do. From out of town and found this gem on Yelp!! The food was fantastic and the Service was first rate. The homemade bread and olive oil with garlic dipping sauce was the best we have ever had. When they found out that we were here for the first time, the owner brought us over a complimentary appetizer dish of fried rice balls that were steaming hot and so wonderful! There were 3 of us, and we each ordered an entree along with one additional appetizer. Way too much food! We ordered the Italian Combo, the NY Steak special, and the Pasta Nicole. All of the entrees were excellent and full of flavor, and most importantly, served hot, right out of the oven! We will recommend this place to everyone we know when they come to Boston. What a great local find!! You won't be disappointed. My boyfriend and I went last night. We shared a ceaser salad which was big enough to share. All good lettuce no brown stuff. It had just enough dressing and the croutons I could tell were home made. I had the mussels app with a spicy red sauce--yummy! My boyfriend had the salmon -- cooked perfect and a large piece for the price. His came with two sides and they let him pick what he wanted... And last but not least, they start you with bread with oil--you WILL eat carbs and not regret it! Can't wait to go back. The place had a good vibe. read more

This is one of the worst place in terms of customer service. On Sunday September 29th at 10:15am My boyfriend and I walked in and was never greeted. The unpleasant hostess finally asked us if we want to sit at a table or counter. We told her table. It took her some time to clean off a table(there were several tables available but not cleaned). We were seated for 15 minutes and no one came to check on us, offered coffee, ask for our order or even let us know that someone will be right with us. While we were sitting waiting, another couple was seated and tended to. Finally we decided to get up and leave. A customer that was seated next to us shook her head in disgust that no one came to us in the 15 minutes we sat there. As we were leaving a waitress shouted "have a good day" she didn't even realize that we didn't even eat there due to the poor service. If there was an option to give "0" stars that's what I would give them. read more

I've eaten her 4 times. The food is good, maybe a dollar or two over priced, but for good food I"m willing to pay. However the noise level is painful. Not a relaxing meal at all. I won't go back until the owner does something with the kitchen/bus station set up. Sausage on pizza was not very tasty, nor the meatballs on the Brickhouse Pizza. Burgers were so, so. The chicken parm was very good and the French fries. That was about it. Wouldn't go back. love the atmosphere and the food here. i have always found a parking space whether across the street or right next door. I love the salmon dinner and my kids love the pizza's and the pasta dishes. my daughters favorite is the chicken marsala. my favorite waitress is Jocelyn! she is soooo awesome! sit at the bar and have some wine and apps and catch the game on the flat screen tv's or get a cozy table in the bar, by the window or wherever! everyone is so friendly there, especially Eva the hostess:) read more
