This place makes me want to go back to college! I really wish SG had a place like this instead of tons of sugary tea houses. The atmosphere at night is very quiet, very study appropriate, deathly quiet upstairs, but just the hint of whispers in the parlor downstairs. The food isn't so spectacular, cheesecake is from costco and the other pastries are probably mass bought as well, but who cares because I love costco cheesecake. The best thing about this place is that its not overpriced like the other ktwon coffee shops which rips you off for their ambiance and free wifi. Here you get both relaxing atmosphere and free wifi along with excellent tea and rich dark brewed coffee served on cute wooden platters from under $5. The min credit charge is $4 though. If you decide to get a pot of loose leaf tea for a little under $3 you can have unlimited refill of heated water which is always nice to know. TIP: Park on Rosewood and just walk over to Bricks and Scones! :-) 2. This place gets so cold, even during the day, especially when you're sitting outside. Bring a jacket. 3. When sitting outside, it's kind of hard to find outlets if you don't know where to look. My friend has been trying to find a place in LA that offers cream tea, the little sister to high tea, in which tea is consumed with scones, clotted cream, and jam. Bricks and Scones seemed perfect. It offers an "Afternoon Tea" deal with a pot of tea and two scones and people raved about their scones. My friend and I stopped by for a light lunch. We intended on sharing the Afternoon Tea and splitting another a salad or a sandwich. Bricks and Scones is in an easy location north of the main stretch on Larchmont. For lunch, street parking was remarkably easy . Bricks and Scones boasts a super cute outdoor seating area. It's a lot like The Alcove's but not as large or as cute. There's seating inside and upstairs as well with free wifi so there are a lot of students, artists, writers, and malingerers. The focus of our trip, the scones, were actually a huge disappointment. At their recommendation, I selected the blueberry and my friend, the chocolate chip. While mine was studded with big blueberries, the texture of the scone was crumbly rather than soft and airy. They felt and tasted like the generic scones you can get at any old coffee shop. On top of that, they had run out of clotted cream so we ate ours with prepackaged pats of butter with little containers of strawberry jam and lemon curd. It felt very generic. I liked the Peach Black Tea we picked just fine but it was not ideal that all the sugar and cream were at a coffee station inside when we were seated outside. Also, they took over 10 minutes to refill the pot of tea which was a moderate annoyance. The saving grace was a Turkey Pesto Mozzerella sandwich that we shared. The multigrain bread had been toasted (or perhaps the whole thing was lightly panini-ed) and warm with nutty bits of grains on the outside. The sandwich spreads were really great. One side had a mayo-pesto combination and the other something red, perhaps sundried tomato? The turkey, mozz, lettuce and tomato really shined in combination with those spreads. It was accompanied by a green salad with cherry tomatoes. It wasn't anything special but we happily nibbled on the mesclun greens with a bottled Asian dressing. I probably won't make it back to Bricks and Scones for their scones but that sandwich is worth getting for sure. read more

I love the cute ambiance. I visited Sat. morning and it was packed. There were barely any tables left. They have a second floor, but it has very limited space. Our drinks came out quickly. MATCHA LATTE The art was beautifully done. I could really taste the strong matcha green tea flavor.. so much so that it was really bitter. There was no hint of sweetness to it. I love me a strong matcha green tea latte, but this was the strongest one I've ever had. CHAI TEA LATTE The chai tea latte was decent. Nothing made it stand out from all the other chais that I've had. It had a medium consistency, not too thin, but not too thick. It had some nice flavors and I could taste the chai, but it was not very strong. I liked the spice and the smooth finish. It was an enjoyable drink. I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area. Bricks and Scones is like STUDY heaven! If you are a student who is looking for a quiet space to study alone or a person who is just looking to get some work done away from home, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Virtually every space inside (upstairs and downstairs) has been converted into a study with several desks, tables, and lamps. Everyone is studying inside and it really makes for a great atmosphere. Sometimes I find it difficult to snag a 'comfortable' spot but comfortable is subjective and you can always move once someone else gets up to leave. They offer an array of tea, coffee, and pastries for purchase. I also think they offer some salads/sandwiches because a lot of people were having lunch outside on the patio. Best of all, they have FREE WIFI! The only issue that I have is that they don't have a lot of parking. If you aren't lucky enough to score parking in the back, you will have to park at a meter and go out to feed the meter every 2 hours. This was a complete pain. But so worth it :) read more

I came here for the first time with my friend about two months ago, and I ordered the Afternoon Tea & Scones set. It seemed like a lot of students came here to study that day, so we ate outside. When I took my first sip of the Morning Tea and my first bite of the buttermilk cream cheese scone (with butter and their handmade strawberry jam)... wow, I had a mini flashback of the summer when I visited England with my family. It was THAT delicious and THAT amazing. It would've been perfect if they also provided clotted cream, but I was so satisfied with the overall experience. Oh, and their matcha scone was tasty too! Because my mom loved the cream teas she had in England so much, I knew I wanted to bring her here on Mother's Day for brunch. I was tempted to give Bricks & Scones four stars, but as I continue to sit on my cushioned leather seat upstairs by the corner window (yes, I am writing this review as I sit in B&S), I just can't do it. This place really may be as good as it gets. This is the perfect study spot for students - excellent choice of caffeinated drinks - the teas, mocha, chai lattes - and free wi-fi! There's no pressure to leave after a certain amount of hours because they know that you're here to relax and/or do work. Bricks & Scones is my all time favorite place to study. GORGEOUS interior. It's like you walk in and are transported to this quaint and beautiful oasis in the middle of Larchmont. Love the winding staircase, chandelier, romantic furniture, basically everything... Delicious food and coffee. It's generally pretty quiet, especially on the second floor. It's just so nice to sit in the tranquility and look around and be surrounded by pretty things (..and people. *cough*) Its perfection is its own downfall, since my only gripes about it are due to how popular it is. It's usually pretty crowded, although I've always found a seat within a couple minutes of waiting even in the afternoon, but perhaps not the optimal seat. There are plenty of outlets and stable wifi. Parking is tough, but no more difficult than the rest of LA.. They do have their own lot in the back, but there are only 8 spaces (I think mostly for employees) and it's TINY and very difficult to get in and out of. I usually end up parking on the street, which is largely permit/2 hours only except on Sundays. You know the drill... As a result I don't usually come here except on Sundays, since they close pretty early in the evening. Food is pricey, portions are on the small side, but what you do get is tasty! I like their tomato soup, turkey pesto mozzarella panini, and chocolate chip scone (clotted cream is a must). However due to how expensive it is I usually just stick to coffee and a chocolate chip scone; if I want a hearty meal I'd definitely go elsewhere. Before or after I'm done at Bricks & Scones, that is. I do feel that it's more of a studying environment and just not really one where you'd come to catch up with friends, although they do have a few tables outside where the atmosphere is less intense. If you can find a spot for both you and your car, this is the best possible place to be to hunker down, get some work done, and enjoy doing it! read more

This is a quaint coffee house right on Larchmont, north of Beverly Boulevard-across from Chandra Thai restaurant. I normally park immediately adjacent to Rite Aid Pharmacy on Larchmont, south of Beverly Boulevard. Rite Aid will validate even without purchase. This place has two stories. I always see students here studying. If I'm not mistaken, wi-fi is free. There's also a garden-like outside seating area with colorful potted plants and plenty of shade. I see people who come here and chill outside with their dogs. It has a sign that its pastries are home made by mom. I usually get a cranberry walnut scone and a coffee. The server usually asks me whether I want it heated. The pastries are fresh and the coffee is good. It's a good place to hang out. read more

Favorite place to study!! I come here by myself all the time. They have plenty of power outlets and their chairs are super comfortable and cushion-y (but not SO comfy that I fall asleep in them, which often happens when I attempt to be studious). The atmosphere is nice and quiet inside, although there are sometimes annoying non-locals that come and disrupt the silence with their loud discussions about the weather. Then again, that's what earphones are for - bring them and drown out the voices of those inconsiderate patrons with your musica! The outside patio is great for hanging out and chatting with friends. It's a very nice and quaint little area. Favorite teas - Grapefruit Green and Champagne Rose (tastes like strawberries). So fragrant! And their teas are reasonably priced too. ~$2-3 depending on what size you opt for. (hint: bring your own mug to get a discount) Snack - Gluten-free Chewy Sesame Roll. It's that weird whiteish looking roll/bun thing sitting in its own display case right next to the register. They're delicious when warmed up - the outer crust is a bit hard but the inside is delightfully chewy with a mochi-like texture/consistency. I can never finish the entire thing; it's pretty huge. Parking is not too bad. I usually opt for street parking and pay the meter $2 for two hours (unless it's a Sunday or a holiday WOOT). I love the decor of this place. It is literally a converted two-story house. Now it's a coffeeshop with a chandelier. Great use of space. A beautiful outdoor area in front that's shaded. When you walk in, there is a cool counter with blackboards on the right where you order, a staircase on the left, and work tables (both individual and communal) in the back. I didn't go upstairs, but there seems to be many work spaces there too. Forgot to check if there were any plugs...I just stopped by since it's next to my work on Saturdays. I got the mango chicken curry sandwich. It was pretty awesome. Also came with a side salad with a great dressing! It's not the cheapest place in the world...cost me $12, but you can tell the ingredients are very fresh. It's a busy busy place. Every table I saw was full. I didn't get anything to drink, but I saw the coffees, lattes, smoothies that people ordered, and it looked fantastic! A bit disappointed in this place. Slow wifi, so-so coffee, pretty dark lighting. I thought that it would be a good place to study but the only thing that'll benefit your study experience is how quiet it is. They have a really small parking lot in the back of the building. It's super hard to find but the entrance is literally next to the cafe on the right. Lovely coffee shop in the Larchmont area with wifi and plenty of study space. A little dark inside but they also have a patio where you can sit outside and read a book/have good conversations and enjoy this beautiful area in LA. The inside decor is pretty with a large chandelier hanging over the entrance, and the shop consists of two floors. One room has a table area with couches and the upstairs is somewhat narrow but reminds me of a small library that's quiet and where you can get a lot of work done. As for the food, I have yet to try it, but the coffee is fresh and keeps you awake! A must for any visitors/residents to LA. read more

Their decor is reallly cute, and this place is def cozy. It has a library like silence inside which is good for studying ; most of the people inside are. I tried their vegan tomato soup and got sourdough bread added for a buck. It was yum... Also had a croissant which was good but not my fav. Downsides to this cafe are there is only street parking and very few spaces in the back. Also, the internet was reeaaally slow for me and i constantly got kicked off. I wish I knew about this place when I was in grad school! This is a great spot to go if you want to get out of the house to get work done. I've had a personal project on my to-do list that I have been putting off for months. I finally picked a Sunday to bring my laptop to Bricks & Scones and after a few hours I was finished! The outside looks like a large house. There is a ton of outdoor seating in front where people are eating and working on their computers. Inside there are upstairs and downstairs areas where there are large tables that seat about 8 people and small tables that seat 1 or 2. I sat at a small table against the wall and although there were about 30 people in the room it was quiet! I put on my headphones and drifted into my zone for 5 hours with no distractions. Just me, TLC radio on Pandora and my laptop. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who likes to work in a public place and still be able to focus. Where do I begin!! Aside from possibly a great coffee & tea cafe, I was injured and scarred from here. I ordered tea & they served it in a teapot, with a broken lid. When they served me the tray at the counter (which, the height of the counter is at my eye level so you have to reach up to grab the tray), the scolding hot water spilled from the lid and burned my hand to 3rd degree burn, blistered immediately. They definitely serve their tea HOT, so be extra careful!!! Can they NOT use a broken tea pot?!!! When I brought this up to the manager and the owner, they wanted to give me $20 giftcard to settle. I went into ER right away!! No apology or any kindness what-so-ever!! I have a scar now. They may have great coffee, tea and scones etc but, they are definitely not treating their customers in the right way. This is just my personal experience. Some spaces just resonate with me and make me happy. This is definitely one of those places. Upon entering, I was struck by the huge gothic chandelier in the middle of the room. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and my "jardin sauvage" tea was just what I needed. They also offer a 10% discount for students with ID. I went upstairs to the "study" where a sign warned people to be quiet in that area. There were several dark wooden desks each with a little lamp on it. Huge antique looking books added to the gothic ambiance. As I was sitting at a desk, frantically reading the pages for today's classes, I heard "Ragged Wood" by Fleet Foxes and thought, "YES! The sticky bread was also interesting to try, it reminds me of the tapioca stick bread you can buy at Korean bakeries such as Paris Baguette. The Fig and Rosemary scone from Bricks and Scones is amazing. Come here for that. But for that alone. Have tried every other option here and have been disappointed. Today, my breakfast bowl was ice cold and the eggs obviously had been sitting around for a while. The fruit plate is obscenely overpriced as is all of the food. I know Larchmont is pricey and I am fine paying extra for the location but the quality needs to be there. 3 stars for the scone. Skip the rest. read more

Love Bricks and Scones! More people working/studying than people just chilling but it's a cute little cafe. It's 2 floors (also a outdoor patio area) and upstairs seems a bit more quiet than downstairs. Internet is solid, lots of outlets for your charging needs, and their food is good too. I've tried their scones, panini, and sesame roll. I absolutely love the sesame roll. It's chewy inside and cruchy outside. It sells out early so if you see it, don't hesitate! Also their drinks are solid. I'm more of an americano kind of gal but I tried a sip of their lattes and yummm. I probably would convert to the yummy sweet drinks if it weren't for my waistline. Darn those pesky calories! And bricks and scones really tempts my willpower! Mostly parking is street, they have a few spots in the back but I don't think I've ever seen any open. read more

Great study spot! The coffee here is delicious, and they offer non-dairy milk options which is always a plus for me. They also offer a bunch of pastries, paninis, etc. Had a bite of my friend's panini which was yummy. The atmosphere is very cozy and definitely on the quieter side. It's a two-story house that was transformed into a coffee shop. Lots of outdoor seating in the front as well. I would say this place is ideal for a study spot (free wifi!) or place to read a good book while enjoying coffee and pastries. Maybe not the best place to come if you're planning on catching up with a friend or talking a lot haha (at least not in the inside area). read more

As a freelancer, I'm constantly on the lookout for the next great place to work! I typically utilize my WeWork space, but I enjoy mixing it up a couple times a week. I've been frequenting Bricks and Scones for the past several years, and I must say it's probably my favorite! The staff is always super friendly, and the coffee is nothing short of heavenly. Yummy breakfast food to start the day, too! Parking is a breeze in the neighborhood surrounding Larchmont (meaning go to Lucerne, Arden, Gower, etc.) The only minor negative for this spot is that power outlets are pretty scarce, so make sure your all charged up! read more

Bricks & Scones is one of my favorite places to sit and work on my laptop or read a book. The parking situation isn't ideal, but the chai tea latte paired with a matcha green tea scone makes me a happy woman. The fight for a spot on the street is worth it. There is a quiet study section upstairs, with varying types of seating, in addition to a community work section downstairs. There's also an adorable patio with chairs and umbrellas if you fancy sitting outside. I love the ability to choose, as we all do, and countless styles of seating are available to you. Bricks & Scones offers wooden chairs (with or without arms), couches, armchairs, community tables, tall tables with stools, etc. There are plenty of outlets. Unfortunately, they did have to put a maximum time on their internet usage, but they don't seem to enforce it if you keep buying their nourishment. I wish they stayed open later. I do have a qualm with the staff--they've never seemed very friendly. The place itself seems so artsy and inviting, but the baristas and person on register never seem to be smiling or very helpful. They have gotten my order incorrect several times and forgotten to make my food items on multiple occasions. It seems like they just don't really like working there. I go here for the artistic inspiration, creative atmosphere, comfy seating, and my favorite go-to order. I do not come here for the service or the staff. read more

After years of making the trek to over-pretentious "intellegencia" or the great shops that have 1 table, this amazing shop opened just minutes away from me. Finally Hollywood/ Hancock park has a great coffee shop of it's own. The coffee is bar none, amazing. Teas have been great and any morsel that I've had is just as excellent. What puts this place above and beyond is the staff. They're always friendly, welcoming and make you feel at home. They have consistently gone above and beyond to make any trip there a-freaking-mazing. Bricks & Scones is a very warm environment with loads of seating...which sadly fill up fast. (only downpart of the place). It's a great place to get studying done, writing, drawing or just zone out.... seeing as it's the only coffee shop I've been at that isn't over crowded with hordes of future screenwriters discussing their 'coming of middle age movies'. This place is nice and quiet. The prices are reasonable, the food and drink superb, the staff friendly and even a 'quiet zone' upstairs. read more

This is such a cute little coffee shop, I can see how this is the perfect place to study. I came here to pass some time and ended up staying with some coffee, some cupcakes and some pastries! This place is not too difficult to find, but it's got a nice foliage cover around it to make it seem secluded. The outside area is a great place to relax in the sun and enjoy the amazing Southern California weather. The inside upstairs area is quiet and effectively secluded for studying purposes. They also serve sandwiches and soups so you could totally spend the entire day here. The coffee is great, and the staff is very friendly as well. The only thing is parking around this area is $$$$. Seriously you have to empty your piggy bank just to stay here for an hour or so. Yikes! read more

Bricks & Scones is a cute concept on the outskirts of Larchmont Village. It's a coffee shop that actually serves coffee...and by my view they serve LAMILL coffee. This place has kind of a grown up hipster vibe and I guess that's expected being where its located. The room is warm and inviting, although the use of space could have been better. It's counter service yet there isn't enough room by the counter so inevitably there will be a jam at the entrance. The back room is a quiet room for those that want to get work done. What an ingenious concept, a coffee shop that you can actually get work done instead of going there for the scene. There's an upstairs area that's for studying as well, although it sounded like you can have a conversation upstairs. Out front is a small patio that isn't very well laid out leading to many awkward seating arrangements. Overall, it's a cute space. The coffee as mentioned is LAMILL. Their preparation I feel like could be a little better. Although that could be personal preference. I like my Americano hot and what I got wasn't at that temperature. However, your mileage may vary. The food is primarily coffee shop chic. The scones look delicious, but none are vegan and this place really doesn't offer a vegan menu. I wound up getting the PB&J and Banana sandwich, but I'm pretty sure the bread wasn't vegan. It was well made and gooey just the way it's supposed to be, but for the money I expected more. I think Bricks & Scones is a good location to go and work and chat. You have good coffee and lovely space, however for food...you be better off heading down the street. read more
