From the outside and the decor, this place looked so promising. A great setting, beautiful building, and an enticing menu. That promise was cut short by the most utterly rude hostess I've ever encountered; an older, gruff woman who greeted us harshly with a 'yes?' before demanding if we had reservations - we didn't. We're from out of town, and it isn't a holiday weekend. I asked what the wait time might be, and she gave me a sarcastic speech about how she can't give a good estimate because of how busy they are. I asked if we could go on the wait list, to be seated outside, and I got a loud, exasperated sigh and an eyeroll 'yes, I can put down that that's your PREFERENCE'. We waited for 30 minutes, and watched the hostess poke her head into the waiting room, snapily demand a party by name, and then announce to the room, when they didn't immediately answer, 'well then they're coming off the list'. At that point, we'd had enough. After reading the other reviews, I see she is mentioned over and over again. Look, staff make mistakes. That's fine, and these are growth opportunities. When these mistakes turn into a pattern, and ownership refuses to act, a restaurant truly has a problem. To the owners: you lost our business today. I'm sure your food is lovely, but it is being gatekept by someone who has no absolutely no business in the role she holds. Listen to your customers. read more

We ate here twice in 12 hours. Lunch was an open face fresh tuna melt and oysters raw and pan fried, we both had the clam/mussel chowder. All very tasty although the chowder could have been hotter and potatoes a little more cooked. Dinner was squash soup and salad and I had cioppino and it all was delicious. Had lunch today to celebrate Valentine's Day. The hostess and waiter were great. The table and view outstanding. Food was just okay. We ordered sandwiches that included tomatoes but tomatoes were left off. We both thought the sandwiches were bland and when we looked at the menu on our way out, tomatoes were indeed on the menu for our sandwiches. The waiter apologized. The manager was super unfriendly, never greeting us on our way in, while we were seated or when we left. Zero personality. read more

I am honestly so impressed with this place. I loved every moment of our experience in terms of the ambiance. It is GORGEOUS and super instaworthy inside. Brightly lit with windows overlooking the water and has original wood in the beams and tables made of trees that they give credit to. The wait was a little long for it not being busy. We were sat right away but waited forever for drinks and our food. We were only focused on time because we had an hour and a half before we needed to move onto something else. The complimentary blueberry muffins with lemon curd were so dreamy and delicious, I was so impressed I almost forgot that we were waiting for drinks and food for so long. The benedict was incredible for my hubby but wished he had known there were onion in the potatoes or he would have asked for no onions, cause well, he just doesn't like them and thinks potatoes should be advertised with what is actually in them. The Flannel Hash is what I ordered which had beets, eggs, potatoes and bacon. I covered the hash in hollandaise and was in heaven. YUM. Our server was friendly but forgot to ever bring sriracha and forgot my side of crab, didn't order it either so it wasn't on our bill but writing this now I really wish I had gotten that crab. We stopped by for lunch because my foodie son had noticed this establishment on a posting for best on the coast while we were in Florence. Apparently a reservation is a good plan, even for lunch on a Wednesday. That being said, the front of house staff found us a table, overlooking the water, and we were sat fairly quickly. Of note, the chowder was delicious, neither white nor red. The fish and chips tasty. The burger was delicious and both of my children enjoyed the berry mustard. A surprise for sure. Beautiful spot on the water. The exposed beams and flooring make you feel like you've entered a space that previously knew hard work, but is now quite elegant for daytime noshing. We had dinner here tonight. It is our first time in this area. I have to say it was truly a surprise. We had a shrimp Louis that was fantastic and the Alaskan Dcod fish and chips was absolutely delicious. From the slaw, to the crispy fries, to the perfectly breaded and cooked fish. And the the most unique tartar and cocktail sauces I have ever tasted. Everything on the plate was top notch. Oh, and the Hungarian Mushroom soup was to die for. Went here for a girl's lunch with an out-of-town friend to enjoy the view. View was nice even though we were not at a window table. We both ordered the entree-size cranberry salad. It was completely underwhelming. I guess it was what is said, organic greens, feta cheese, toasted walnuts, and craisens, with a vinaigrette dressing. It was small for an entree-sized salad, and while it did contain all the listed ingredients, the feta chees, walnuts and craisens were in very short supply. I felt like someone just grabbed a handful of organic greens from a big Costco plastic clamshell box and threw it on a plate with a few toppings and called it good. Service was attentive, and our water glasses were refilled several times. Shared a flour-less chocolate torte with raspberry sauce and ice-cream, which was top notch. Probably won't return. This restaurant is on the upper-end of the price scale of Astoria restaurants, and there is much better fare to be had at or below their price point. read more

Arrived here 8/21 at 430PM. The moment I walked in the host asked if I had a reservation. I told her no and she told me she has 3 BIG GROUPS coming and that the whole place is booked. The next dinner time slot would be 830PM. Is this the only restaurant I can dine in at in Astoria? I dont think so. So rude! I think there should be a sign at that door that says CLOSED, RESERVED FOR PRIVATE PARTIES. Rude. Oh by the way, we found EXCELLENT dining elsewhere. read more

The stunning views of the Columbia River and the Astoria Bridge are what initially brought us here. We were very excited when the restaurant's interior atmosphere matched how lovely the view was! The Petite Filet Mignon with its red wine demi-glace sauce and roasted fingerling potatoes was delicious. On a road trip up the Oregon coast, we decided to drive up to Astoria, specifically, to this place. So worth it! One of the best burgers I ever had. Amazing customer service! Our server was very attentive. Although she was covering many tables that early evening, she consistently kept on checking in on us. One tip, make a reservation so that you can get an outdoor table with an amazing view of the water. I was bummed that I wasn't able to get a table outside. It would have been a great experience. Next time in Oregon, I'll make sure to make reservations for an outdoor table. read more

Disclaimer: It is still post Covid which presents its challenges with staffing, so the slow service is not the reason for the three stars. The pro was the salad and dressing were excellent. The Mac n cheese was only warm. To send it back seemed problematic as it took so long to receive originally. We ordered a kid's hamburger for the dog and after 2 bites, the dog turned his nose up. The fish & chips was ordered, "crispy", but was less than hoped. The outdoor seating allows dogs and offers great views of the Columbia River. Took the wife up to Astoria on Labor Day and Stopped at Bridgewater Bistro. They were really busy as most businesses were closed due to being a Monday or whatever. They were very very busy and we only waited 1 hour. We had a wonderful lunch and the food was fantastic. We will be coming back for sure. read more

Food was ok. My wife and I both got salmon salads. My salmon was perfectly cooked but my wife's was a tad under in parts. We got a three piece dresser. The Oregon berry cobbler was fantastic! The cheesecake has too much sour cream. It's not very good. And the kahlua silk pie was ok. It's a bit expensive for the food, but the view and the atmosphere is great. The food was delicious but the service was terrible. My friend and I both enjoyed the Seafood Cakes of the Day special. I also got the Clam and Muscle Chowder. Now why was the service so bad....we are fairy confident our server just could not remember us. At first she was on top of it getting our beverages. Then it went downhill from there. It took her 20 minutes to come back to take our order. Then, she forgot to put the order in. By the time she realized it, she the forgot the soup I wanted and came back to confirm and even thought my friend ordered the soup and not me. This was 20 minutes after we had ordered. She also failed to keep my water filled and even almost took the water cup thinking it was my other drink and never asked to fill it. While the food was good, this is not a place I would regularly frequent given it took nearly 2 hours for us to get through our lunch. read more

The food was very good as well as the service. There was many gluten free options and all of them are marked on the menu. I had the Smokey Tomato Mac 'N Cheese appetizer which I highly recommend (can also be ordered as an entree), the wild Alaskan cod fish & chips, and for dessert the chocolate-Kahlua silk pie. Just a quick impromptu overnight trip to Astoria. I had a buddy recommend this place. We got here right before dinner service so hung out and had a cocktail. My initial impression was pretty good. They had a quartet of guitarists and it was pretty cool. It wasn't what I expected but enjoyed it. I think the guy who seated us might have been the owner. His demeanor was a tad grumpy guy but I blew it off. When or waiter came over he was super nice and was attentive. The food was really good. I had the catch of the day and it was amazing. Came here because the reviews were good and we were looking for a view. I feel bad but damn. For a place like this we expected better! A lot better! Service sucked! And that's an understatement! No joke I've had better service at McDonalds. Waiter was friendly, took our order brought our order and we never saw him again, I had to get up to get the bill. Menu said a pound of clams... if they weigh the plate and broth combined maybe that was a full pound, literally about 15 clams. The word pretentious keeps coming to mind.... From the moment we walked in I wanted to leave! Older white man looked un happy to have us, asked if we had reservations and this is all before 1pm. I just thought that's not something you ask, only about 4 tables in the entire restaurant and he's asking if we have reservations? Hahaha what an ass! I could tell he was not happy, no smiles just serious mean looking face. We tried the chowder, it did have large chunks of clams I liked that! But that was it no flavor whatsoever after adding a vouch of sal and peeper it was better. Had a prawn dish that was not bad, the prawns were cooked perfectly and had good flavor one out of three. Too bad. We tipped accordingly and got the f**k out of there! We visit Astoria once or twice a year and will never come back here. Nothing worst than to pay over $100 bucks at a restaurant only to have terrible service and mediocre food. Won't be back. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner there with our dog. The waitress, Cheyanne, could not have been more welcoming of us and our dog. The weather was perfect, sunny and little wind. There are wind breaks around the outdoor tables. We split a four piece fish and chips and a Caesar salad. Both were excellent, the fish was perfect, nice and crispy with high quality halibut. Came here for my husband and my 2 year wedding anniversary. We loved the water front and the sunny evening. My husband ordered the Smoked Mac n' Cheese with Flat Iron Steak. He asked for medium-rare and it arrived well-done. Luckily it was tender or he would have mentioned something. I ordered the Pasta Marinara with Prawns. It was a delcadent creamy sauce with veggies pured in it. The prawns were tender and sauteed in what I assume is a garlic butter resuction. We ordered the cobbler of the night and they delivered! Delicious and rich. The table next to us had a young girl, age 7 mentioned by her family, that was loud and smacking silverware all over the metal table and ceramic dishware. The view of the river and our server were great. But the food was bland and drinks overpriced. Caesar salad with almost tasteless dressing, mild unexciting polenta served like mashed potatoes, and unnoticeable veal Demi glaze on short ribs. The Painted Hills meat was tender, but I wish they had done something interesting with it. Affordable wines started at $50 a bottle for stock, low rated wines available at the local Safeway for half the price. Terrible food. I ordered the Steak Frites for lunch and the meat that came out on my plate looked and tasted like the chef simply boiled it in water. Here is the menu description: grilled 6-oz. flat iron steak, hazelnut gremolata, red wine demi-glace, seasoned arugula -- none of that describes the steak on my plate -- zero seasoning, no gremolata, no demi-glace sauce, nothing but bland and bare meat.
