Great room, food & service. My husband had roast beef brisket sandwich which was very good especially with Thousand Island dressing. I had Hungarian mushroom soup with dill and wild salmon BLT both of which were great. Coffee fresh and good. French fries were a bit over cooked for our taste. Dissapointed. Service very slow and although the gal brought us a sample of the chowder it took 40 minutes to decide that the food was just not what we were looking for . 10 minutes between questions because the waitress would leave and not return. Astoria needs a straightforward GOOD seafood place !!!! The place needs some intimacy also. Feels almost like a cafeteria. Sorry but was dissapointed. A person should not have to look as hard as we did for seafood on the coast! Really! Their clam / mussel chowder was not good. My boy friend grew up in Europe and he could not eat this food. High prices does not equal good French food. We do not go out to eat for a view of the bridge! read more

A little out of the way if your staying in the center of town, but well worth the walk along the waterfront path. And if you're gluten free this place is absolutely unbelievable. Nearly everything on the menu is gluten free or it can be made gluten free. Gluten free burger and fish and chips are standouts. The only downside, and the reason I did not give five stars, was the bar. The bartender's attitude was cold and the drinks she made were disappointing. I'd suggest having drinks somewhere else and then having a fantastic dinner here afterward. read more

If I could have I would have rated this with three and a half stars. Because ultimately I thought it was average. The ambience and the location is fantastic. Everything that you would expect. Unfortunately the food was inconsistent and underwhelming. Our entree was the seared tuna which had the texture of fish which had been frozen prior. The appetizers were hit and miss but lacked complexity and flavors and felt like something that could have been thrown together very easily in a home kitchen. Walking distance from Cannery Pier or Holiday Express. Walked in had a great table next to Windows looking out to water. Had drinks & freshly made bread, ordered oysters & fish & chips, the batter on the cod was very tasty, & the slaw was excellent both choices were really good. Ordered desserts brownie sundae & pumpkin rum mousse- was wonderful. Jazz piano music began, perfect volume, nice ambiance. A definite must for breakfast when in Astoria. The view of the water and bridge was great. The service was tiptop. The appetizer muffins and custard was above and beyond. Terrible service, rude staff, but good food if you're willing to brave them. Our story: As a large group of people (12), we e-mailed the reservations line 1 month (and confirming the night before) to request a reservation. The person responding to the e-mail (no name signed) told us they would "try" and reserve us a table, but there were no guarantees. They would put us down as a "tentative" reservation. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:45 pm, within 15 minutes of our expected arrival, and were rudely told by the host & manger, "good luck getting a table" with that many people. When I told the manager that we had a reservation, he informed me we did not, and that it would be at least 30 minutes before he could find us a table. We decided to wait anyway, and sat in the bar area. The bartender looked at us, rolled her eyes, and told us she'd try to be with us in a minute. Ten minutes later we were all still sitting at the bar awaiting service. At that time, the manager came over and told us he could seat us all at 2 separate tables, which was fine with us. When we sat down, there was another table next to ours that was empty, and we asked if we could simply move one of those tables over in order to accommodate our group. The young girl pouring our water said "No way, that table is reserved." When I told her that we were told they didn't take reservations, she glared at me and rudely said "we only take reservations - whoever told you we don't should be fired". Our server then showed up and attempted to tell us the day's special of a "marinated chicken in lime and something, on a burger thingy." As the young girl continued pouring our waters, a member of our party asked if she had any recommendations for lunch, specifically mentioning the fish tacos. The girl just said "I don't know" and shrugged her shoulders. Our orders were taken, and while it seemed to take an exceptionally long time for the food to arrive, all of our food was excellent! It was just so disappointing to be treated so poorly by every member of the service staff we encountered, especially when the restaurant touts itself as a fine dining restaurant. To top off matters the manager then e-mailed us and asked why we did not show our for our "tentative" reservation they were holding! read more

Excellent restaurant. I know that previous reviewers have had issues with service but when we were there it was excellent. I had the potlatch and it was wonderful - all of the different kinds of seafood were cooked perfectly, so this wasn't just a dump and cook type of stew. Impressive degree of veggie dishes for my wife, including a ratatouille. Oyster shooters were fresh, cold and served with a great cocktail sauce. Would definitely visit again. Not the cheapest place but also with a great view of the shipping canal. read more

While vacationing in Astoria, my daughter and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Bridgewater Bistro. Good service, delicious food (best housemade bread ever, clam & mussel chowder, calamari, salad w/house smoked salmon, choc. Kuala silk pie & flourless choc. cake), tasteful design, and beautiful view. The owner was super sweet and showed us all kinds of goodies in the gift shop. Wow! This restaurant is a hidden gem down by the docks in Astoria. We heard about it on Yelp and made reservations for brunch to wrap up a coastal getaway weekend. From start to finish, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The bistro itself has what appear to be the original wood floors, giving it tons of character and warmth to balance the modern, chic exposed beams and big windows. It wasn't crowded when we got there (I guess 1 o'clock is pretty late for most folks to be eating brunch!) but there was charming live piano music. The waitstaff were all dressed professionally, and the view of the bridge is excellent. I ordered their seafood cakes (the "seafood" changes daily; today it was salmon!) with eggs, and my boyfriend ordered their stuffed french toast. Each brunch comes with muffins, lemon curd, a potato hash, and fresh fruit! They begin by bringing you the muffins and lemon curd; both delicious, and clearly made right there in the kitchen! The boyfriend's french toast was a pleasant departure from the normal stuffed french toast. Instead of being packed with half a block of cold cream cheese, it was lined with a warm, soft flavorful cream cheese, cooked to a perfect golden brown and served up hot. My salmon cakes had a sweetish teriyaki type sauce over them, just light enough to accent the flavor of the fresh salmon rather than drown it. They had bits of pepper within that gave them a pleasant spiciness that wasn't too hot. The food, atmosphere and staff were all fantastic, and we will be back! read more

This review is for my fiancée's and my experience on Valentine's Day. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm and we were seated at our time. Great start as we had 0 wait time. We were introduced to our waiter who explained the menu very well. To me a knowledgable waiter is a great sign. We then ordered our food. I ordered the surf'n turf, my fiancée ordered the Grilled New York Steak and the appetizer was the deep fried artichokes. The appetizer came quickly and was delicious. Now this is next part is where most people would get upset but I am very impressed with how the waiter handled the situation. We waited for our dinner for almost 2 hours. There ended being a huge mix up in the kitchen and as a result, our food got messed up. The waiter kept us up to date with what was going on in the kitchen, staying calm the whole time. When our food did come out it looked and tasted delicious. After we finished our dinner, we did order dessert. The awesome part was the waiter comped the appetizer and our desserts. We were there for 2 1/2 hours in total, which is way longer than we expected, but it felt like we there there for just over an hour. I commend our waiter for doing an awesome job taking care of us and the situation. He never had the manager come over and held his composure. When we come back to Astoria we are definitely coming back and would recommend it to anyone looking for excellent service and great food. You definitely get what you pay for. read more

My husband and I had dinner at the Bridgewater Bistro last night and what a treat! Loved the clam and mussel chowder, fish and chips, oysters and of course the view. Service was good. Arrived a little after 3:00. Unlike many restaurants, there was a menu just for the period of time between lunch and dinner. We had the fish and chips and calamari. For dessert we had the fresh fruit cobbler, which was served with ice cream and today's sorbet. Couldn't be beat! Portions were generous and the service was excellent. read more

At a lower price point the Bridgewater Bistro is a 4*, but it's expensive for what I can best describe as nothing-to-write-home-about food that you'd find at any random, average, coastal seafood restaurant. Service was fine but not overly attentive or friendly. If someone wanted to go here I wouldn't say no, but given a choice I'd probably pick one of the other restaurants in town with similar fare. read more

Love to support local business, but will not be using this restaurant for work events any longer. The first time we tried, the price of the catered meal was changed at pick-up, and was drastically higher than what we were quoted. The portion sizes were so small, that we could have ordered full meals for every person, paid less, and gotten more food. We gave them another try, and made reservations for an important interview dinner. They then scheduled an event over our reservation, and didn't let us know. Luckily we called to confirm the night before, and then were left to scramble for a reservation at another establishment. We love to expose our out of town guests to some of our amazing local cuisine, but will now be working with other restaurants like Baked Alaska, that have handled things much more professionally. read more

Made our first visit to the Oregon Coast and Astoria. We love staying at the Cannery Pier Hotel. It was so nice to find a restaurant so close to the hotel. The Bistro has a great selection of fresh foods and an excellent staff. We were there with a two year old. He is always good when we go out to eat. The staff was very attentive to his needs and made the dining experience wonderful. The food is simply amazing. The flavors and ingredients were fresh and well paired. We are there two days in a row. The options for good restaurants in the area are limited and in my opinion no compression. Great scenery and awesome design inside. Thanks for two great meals! read more

The location of the restaurant is over the water on a pier with views of bridge and ocean. There is a large outdoor patio as well. The interior is open and airy like a loft but warmly finished with wood and many windows, a live band plays soft music in the background, a fireplace flickers adjacent to the band. The food is well prepared, creative and delicious. Even if the food sucked, I'd still come here for the ambience alone. :). What more can I say??? Come here! read more

You can't beat the atmosphere here the building is very coastal inside with a great view of the river. We took friends there for lunch and the live music was very nice. The lunch menu leaves a little too be desired. A little pricey and an upscale selection. I ordered a burger with no cheese and it came with cheese. The other meals were nothing special. read more

We stayed at the Cannery Pier hotel, they highly recommend brunch at Bridgewater Bistro... so glad they did. Beautiful setting on the water, live music playing for Sunday brunch. A big variety of breakfast/brunch meals. We split the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. OMG it was a 10! Great service, out water glasses were never less than 1/2 full. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food isn't quite 5 star, the service for us was hit and miss (2 visits). But, it's a super cool place. If your visiting Astoria, as we were, it's the kind of place you should just stop in and at least have a drink. It's located just about under the bridge - fantastic view, nice patio area. The interior is nicely done. There was a jazz trio playing, a cozy fireplace with couches in the bar / waiting area. One nice touch is the wine tasting bar where you can taste the wines on their list for $5 a flight. Cool idea. Both nights the bartender, Michelle, took great care of me. In fact, on the 2nd visit there, I sat at the bar eating oysters (kick ass) and having a glass of wine. My wife and I decided that we'd probably get a to go order and bring it back to our hotel, about a block away. I had some wine at the hotel, but no glasses. Michelle loaned me a couple for the evening. Cool. Anyway... Had some so, so waitress service on our first visit. It was obvious that this woman was tired. She didn't check in much and didn't have much to say in general - seemed to just want to get her evening done. However, she was always pleasant and professional. I had pan fried oysters as a an app - very good. Tried the mussel clam chowder -okay, wasn't blown away. Ordered the NW Potlach and actually had to send it back. I very seldom have done that - it was sooo salty. Couldn't eat it. So, I got more oysters! My wife got the duck. Nicely done, but the sauce was intense. On our take out night we got burgers - they were good. Overall, a nice place to eat and certainly worth a visit. If nothing else have a cocktail and some oysters while enjoying the view! read more

Lovely ambiance, really beautiful interior. But on our visit the service was lacking. We had a big party, but there were only 4 tables including ours and there were 6 servers. The service wasn't attentive or timely, at one point we couldn't even get a server or the manager to acknowledge our table. It was one of those times you could tell they knew we were needing something and purposefully ignoring it hoping someone else would do it. I just don't think they have very experienced waitstaff there. The food was decent, and the menu had a good selection, but for the prices, you'd expect better service. read more

I was so surprised by this place. Stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel and didn't know this was a restaurant at first. (We were delighted at the proximity to our hotel.) It's really pretty on the inside and offers great views since its on the bay. I had the duck and husband had the prime rib. Paired it with some wine we brought and it was a meal to remember! Our server was amazing and what the younger, maybe less experienced, staff might have lacked in knowledge they made up for in work ethic. read more

Ambiance was great with live music, candles on the tables and tall ceilings. We sat in the upper dining area that overlooked the main dining area and also had great views of the water. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. I recommend the tapas and our tables tried 6 and all were fantastic. I would highly recommend the pulled pork sliders and crab cakes. The interior of this place is very unique and awesome looking. For being so close to the ocean I expected some amazing food. Sadly I was disappointed by the service, prices, and food. The atmosphere was extremely fancy and didn't seem to fit its local market and the prices were super high. While eating there it felt like a tourist trap and less like a hometown restaurant that I would've liked. My stepdad ordered a burger there and it had blueberry cranberry mustard. I don't know who's idea the sauce was but it was awful. I ordered fish and chips and it wasn't bad but for the price was not worth it. I will definitely come back to Astoria but will not be eating here. read more

What a wonderful dining experience. We hadn't made reservations so had a bit of a wait. So would advise calling ahead. The hostess was so friendly both to us and those exiting. She always made sure to address each guest in conversation about their meal and expetience. Our waitress was so polite. She knew the menu and made great recommendations. Our glasses were never empty. The meal is the real treat. The spare ribs were mouth watering. Meat so tender it could be cut with a fork rice and beans cooked to perfection. The fish and chips had a light coating which, though fried, did not have a greasy taste or one that left an oily feeling coating the mouth. Meat fresh and without a strong fish taste. The cole salad was made to perfection and has a bit of a bite and some heat that makes want to take just one more bite. Would I come back absolutely; just an outstanding dining experience. read more
