My mom and I were here on vacation just a couple days ago, and ate here because of reviews. The ambience here is nice, as is the service. Our busser was especially excellent at filling our waters almost constantly. We also had Spinach Brig salads to start with, which were absolutely perfect. I also tried two oysters, and my mom had a shrimp cocktail, which were great. Our main meal was kind of a disappointment, however. The blackened sea bass was blackened with more of a chili powder seasoning versus cajun seasoning, and just wasn't very good. Likewise, my macademia nut-crusted mahi mahi was just ok. I didn't even finish it all, which is just not like me. It was just bland, that's all. Overall, I wouldn't go back, not because it was terrible, but because i wasn't really impressed. read more

My family and I had just been exploring Coronado, and we were hungry. We happened to stumble upon Brigantine when looking for a restaurant among all of the cute little shops and such. We were seated almost immediately after entering the restaurant. My family and I literally stuffed ourselves on appetizers, but not in the bad way. We had ordered a substantial amount of appetizers and just kept ordering more and more, because all of them were wonderful. The bread was to die for, the crab dip and toasted bread slices made an amazing pair, we just could not stop eating it! One person in our family ordered a crab cake and I tried it. It was delicious! The service was nice, nothing to complain about. Overall, one of the best restaurants I've been to! read more

I have been here twice and both times my meals have been wonderful. My first visit I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and a caesar salad. The bowl was HUGE and so filling. It was difficult for me to eat my salad. Next time I will only get a cup! :) My second visit I ordered a chicken, mushroom pasta dish. It was very good. Good atmosphere. It can get a little crowded. I gave up my table for a family and sat at the bar. The host was so thankful, he gave us a free bowl of chips and jalepeno dip - which were amazing. Fish tacos are outstanding...especially with the house hot sauce (watch out..sauce is Hot!). Taco Tuesday gives you better prices on the fish tacos (and other types of tacos), but you have to eat in the lounge to get them for the special price. I would have to say the Brig is fair to good. I started with the clam chowder which had a thick texture that I like and good flavor. My wife had scallops which were really good and I had a salmon special that was slightly overcooked (not bone dry) which was decent. This was just an average place to dine. It was hopping for happy hour at the bar. We were put back by the kitchen/server door and we assume that was because we were dressed in beach attire and towing our 13 yr old with us. Soon after, several couples with kids were placed near us. For the food, we ordered the seafood fondue, oysters on the half, and crab cake for appetizers. All were amazing! For dinner we ordered swordfish tacos, seared ahi Asian dish, and bacon wrapped crab stuffed prawns. Best was the tacos. Could've done without either of the other 2 dishes. Slightly above average food. Outstanding service. Prime location. You can tell it's part of a chain. Swordfish was good. Minor substitutions were accommodated with a smile. Decent cocktails. They took the artichoke fried things off the bill after we just said we didn't like them. They didn't do anything wrong with them, we just thought they tasted bad. I can only rate it 3/5 bc I requested gluten free meal that was NOT gluten free. (My symptoms are pretty obvious within a few hours of eating.) My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service and ambiance were really cool. However, we got sick from what we think was the calamari. We ordered a lobster, a small plate of calamari, and a cup of New England style clam chowder. We ate dinner at about 5:00 and found ourselves both feeling ill at 9:00. Our waitress was phenomenal. We were given a plate of creme brulee to celebrate our special occasion. We have heard great things from others about the restaurant. We believe this must have been bad luck for us to encounter this. Everything else seemed to be just GREAT! For that reason, I would not discourage anyone from going here - Just be picky about your seafood. read more

Last nite we were treated to Brigantine for Dinner - I am gluten free - so not always sure what to order at Restaurants. Waitress was very helpful - so I ordered the swordfish with a limebutter sauce on top with fresh steamed veggies and mashed potatos - hubby had the Shrimp and Grits - also gluten free so I got to sample. OMG can you say awesome - I have never eaten swordfish so did not know what to expect - but it was quite possibly the best fish dish I have ever had. As for hubbys dish - best shrimp and grits i've ever eaten also. You will not be sorry if you eat at this place - It is 100% great and service is excellent. read more

This was a great meal at a fantastic price. We had 4 in our party including a child and the price was very reasonable. We had 4 entrees, 2 appetizers, a $80 bottle of wine, 3 Moscow Mules and 3 desserts and the price with tip was just over $300. I was given a coupon for a free appetizer by a local and had 2 choices. ..I decided on rhe calamari. ..it had too much breading for my taste, but the calamari itself was good. We ate here for our anniversary dinner. Nice location, only a short walk from our hotel...which we needed because the wind was blowing 35mph and was cold so we didn't want to walk too far. Food was excellent. Waitress was very nice and provided excellent service. Our booth was dimly lit....could have use a tad more light as we had just one bulb shinning onto the table. When making reservations, we were asked if it was for a special occasion...not sure why because nobody mentioned anything when we checked in, nor throughout the evening. A restaurant isn't obligated to "celebrate" with us, but why ask if we were celebrating a special occasion ? Anyway, food was great. wine was great. Would definitely eat here again. read more

My husband and I have always been a fan of the Brig in Coronado. So we were looking forward to the remodel even though we liked it before. What a disappointment.!The coziness is gone, it's loud we barely could hear each other talk. It felt like we were on the sidewalk with the brightness of the sun. The large windows were open so even though it's loud inside you can hear the traffic. This is no longer a place where you can have an intimate conversation. It's geared to the younger crowd. So the Brig has fallen into that path of making it really open so you can pack people in and get them out fast. The food is good but we will not be back to this location. What a shame. read more

Come here every Tuesday for their taco tuesday deals. The service is awesome for the most part and the Tacos are yummy. Last tuesday however, i asked to have my drink re-made and instead the manager plopped a shot of vodka on my table and told me I could just mix it into my drink if I didn't like the way it tasted. I was kind if shocked. The drinks are like $15 on average. I dont want to pay $15 to play bartender at my table. I had to seek out our waitress who is always awesome and have her ACTUALLY remake it and the manager looked at me like I was a bother. If the cocktails are going to be priced that way, they should be amazing. read more

Went to grab some lunch, sat at the bar. Both bartenders clearly saw me but ignored me. After 15 minutes I politely asked if I could see s menu and explained that I've been sitting here for 15 minutes, others have sat down at the bar and were immediately acknowledge. Rather than apologizing the female bartender grabbed the menu and placed in front of me and walked away. I walked out, I don't want to eat somewhere were I'm not welcomed. Overall very good if you order the right thing. The Swordfish Tacos are to die for. The regular Fish Tacos were a little greasy with too much breading smothering a rather tasteless white fish. The Crab Louie was good but ordinary. The fries were crisp and way above average. The fresh vegetable side dish (green beans) was undercooked. So disappointed!! Had reservations for 5pm yesterday (Saturday July 22, 2017), arrived on time and waited 10 minutes for a table for 5. I didn't understand the wait because there were several tables available. While waiting I asked the hostess if she could seat us outside and she said "Um no, those tables are reserved for a party arriving in 15 minutes". Ok, no problem. When our name was called we were led to a table, at which point I asked if we could have one of the booths. I was told the booths were reserved. Again, no problem. It's summer, it's Saturday AND Comic Con is going on (I did notice though, that the people who were seated outside arrived separately and did not appear to be together). We placed our orders and I have to say, I don't mind paying for good food, thus my disappointment! $13 for the crab and shrimp fondue is so overpriced when it was nothing more than warmed up cream cheese with a very, very slight seafood taste. I could not find a discernible piece of shrimp or crab. It arrives in a small, square cast iron skillet whose looks are deceiving because you're only getting approximately 1/4 cup of this crap. The $21 lobster tempura tacos were...yuck!! First off, it was NOT tempura batter, which is light and airy. The coating was heavy and thick (to trick you into thinking you're getting a nice chunk of lobster probably) and super salty. The "cucumber-jicama salad" that the lobster sits on top of looked...dirty. That's the only word that comes to mind. The watery liquid from this "salad" pooled on the tortilla, making it soggy. I ended up eating only the lobster, after scraping off the over-salted batter. The calamari strips, although tender, were not crispy. For some reason they put them on a drink napkin and it seems it made them sweat. It made me feel they were microwaved instead of deep-fried. In addition, the scallops were just shy of raw, as was the skirt steak. My brother practically had to chase it around his plate. I really miss the old Brigantine, their food AND decor used to be great! It's sad how catering to tourists drives up the prices while the quality declines. I definitely won't be returning! read more

Walked by and decided to put our name in for dinner. We were told 30 minute wait but to our pleasant surprise, a table opened up within 10 minutes. We were seated and greeted by our server right away. The kids menu was nice and offered diverse options for the little ones. The scallops entree was wonderful as well as the crab cake- I would order them both again in a second. The creme brûlée was divine and the manager offered the kids a complimentary ice cream treat, which they loved of course. By far, the best dinner of our trip! At first we were not too happy with the new decor but the dinning side was beautiful the meal the service impeccable we recently spent several hundreds at a well known national chain steakhouse known for service who could take lessons from this restaurant the little touches of hot towels to clean up with speedy soup and salad being that these are prepared prior too and such a great experience we have been going here for 20+ years and this time was the best food great service great could not have had a better experience and meal.
