The food was excellent. We went for Taco Tuesday, Happy Hour and then for dinner one night. Each time fantastic. Overall, our server, Paige M. was the best. We went back 3 nights in a row because she was working and made sure we were seated in her section. She was so pleasant, made great recommendation for food each night and beer selections. Horrible from start to finish. Waited For ten minutes to get a drink order. Ordered two coconut shrimp appetizers and they all came to the table burned. Waited ten minutes for him to come back to tell him. He brought new ones burned again. We choked down half of them. They claim everything is made from scratch.Yet the shrimp were identical and looked mechanically breaded. Tacos came By a food runner who had the worst attitude.She just threw the plates down wherever she could find a spot.Whether it was yours or not and she did not clear the appetizer plates. She glared at us and was slamming things to the table. She actually was quite frightening. Fish tacos had what appeared to be long.John silver's fish sticks. dry and horrible... We could not chew the skirt steak tacos and actually had to spit the meat out. It was so tough and grisly. Dinner partners had clam chowder which was so disgusting lumpy cold and pasty. Manager came by and comped one appetizer. Most of the Three tacos remained on the plate, half chewed skirt steak, and most of the shrimp , appetizer , and all of the chowder...... We could not eat any of it between the four of us. Again, we waited at least 15 minutes and our final bill never came.So we walked up to the front where we had to ask for the bill. Outdated and low quality. Pretty expensive dinner for very underwhelming food. We had 3 drinks, 1 app and 2 mains. Service was fine but spending 200 on overpriced cafeteria food is not my idea of quality. Should have known when we walked in that food caters to an old school older crowd. The oysters where fine, hard to mess those up when you are not cooking. I ordered lobster tacos which were cooked well but the toppings were a bit confusing. Came with truffle fries which were the saddest truffle fries I've seen. It was literally some soggy fries with a few strings of Parmesan. My wife had the special which was $45. Alaskan halibut with honey Sriracha glaze. The fish came out slightly over cooked and just drowned in sauce as were the vegetables. I can make better fish and sauce at home for 1/3 of the price. Definitely expected much better quality. The dessert was thankfully on the house because it was my birthday. We chose the Apple crisp, which was just pretty much the inside of apple pie. Meal started well, small plates nice enough and the raw oysters outstanding. Wedge salad fresh but bland even with the crumbled bacon and blue cheese bits. Dressing was without any bite from the blue cheese or flavor whatsoever. Sand Dabs very fresh and well cooked but just bland - not mild nor subtle but simply lacking seasoning - even with plenty of capers in the bland lemon caper sauce. the risotto served as a side was a single gluey mass that wasn't edible. a $30 entree shouldn't leave you this disappointed. Wife's dinner salad with chicken was ok, nothing worth noting except the portion was huge. Nice bottle white wine was priced reasonably. Overall if I had spent three quarters on this meal and had not expected fine dining we would have been satisfied. There are too many other options for really fine food in the area at this price to put up with this. It was just so close - I suppose if I like hot sauce on everything it would be fine, but obviously quality ingredients were left disappointingly lacking flavor. May become one of our go-to places for drinks and bar food on the deck, but not diner again. read more

The Brigantine Restaurant Corporation has traditionally been one of the best in San Diego, however this location has gradually lost its food quality,proportion size and value. The ambiance is dated and food preparation is not equivalent to other Brigantine locations. The ahi sandwich had a huge bun and a tiny piece of overcooked and unappetizing tuna. The salmon didn't taste fresh and the swordfish was overcooked and delivered on an uncooked tortilla. Coleslaw was soggy and didn't taste fresh however their house brand sriracha sauce is still delicious. Please turn this location around Brigantine! read more

Brigantine is always good. We like the Coronado location right across the street from the Del Coronado. The food is always great. Fantastic seafood and fish, and nice variety of dishes. And the location is fun with lots of foot traffic right outside the windows. Good bar and restaurant atmosphere. Always excellent service. What better way to kick off a taco Tuesday then at Brigantine, I ended up ordering a milk stout beer, a couple of fish tacos and a Mahi-Mahi taco, all said and done the bill was less than $20. The food was really good and I was very happy to see the size portion of the fish tacos, I would definitely not classify them as small, you definitely get your money's worth for around $3 each. The flavor was very good and I was very satisfied with the meal, also our waitress was very sweet and very attentive towards our table. I will definitely be going back for a another Taco Tuesday, honestly I'm already craving those fish tacos even though I had them just last night. The entrees we tried were okay but the appetizers and potato salad were good! I had their macadamia crusted mahi mahi. I thought it was decent but I've had better. The fish was on the drier side and the dish lacked flavor overall. For my two sides, I chose house made kettle chips, which was crispy and good, and their potato salad. Their potato salad was one of the best I've had! The bacon and blue cheese made it special. We also had their ahi tuna tacos which were good too. The favorite dish of the night were the mussels. I'm not sure if it was me or the time but when I came here around 5-6ish there were quite a lot of old people. Like senior citizens old. I wasn't sure what Brigantine encompass when we realized we had a free $50 gift card from a swag bag. And to answer my question Brigantine is a seafood restaurant trying to not be cool or hip or anything, it is exactly what it is, a seafood restaurant in Point Loma area. It's not trying to be fancy or expensive like Tom Hams or even Oceanaire. You walk in and it's upstairs and once you walk in you smell old wood, much like old homes in the east coast. The carpet is horrid and discolored, the chairs and tables are old, work out, chipped and looks like something found in a dumpster... And the bathroom handicap stall is huge, even for a regular handicap stall...(for seniors probably). Old decor and a small balcony withy no views... 2 separate menus, one for the bar area and one for the dining room. Despite the worn out place and decor, the food was solid. It's much a no frills restaurant. I ordered a mule to start and I must say they made it right. It was good in its cold copper mug. For food choices we had oysters, steamed mussels & clams, and a Cioppino. The seafood was fresh and good. They had 3 different oysters. The broth to the steamed mussels and clams was excellent, I love the tanginess and garlicky of it. We ended it with the Cioppino and it was a thicker broth, with a bit of spice from the bell peppers. All the seafood was enjoyable and they have good prices for happy hours. I would come back if I were in the area. read more

My least favorite would have to be the bacon wrapped shrimp, yuck... Oysters - on point $2/ea Clam Chowder - is awesome! I always get a cup. Bacon Wrapped Shrimp - no Bueno. Why ruin the shrimp with burnt bacon??? Complimentary Bread - very good, served warm and with whipped butter. I hate when butter is cold, so they do a good job with here by serving warm whipped butta. Cioppino - I think this is only available on the lounge/bar menu. It was awesome! Lots of trash seafood too. Steamed Mussels and Clams - a nice delicate broth made with wine, garlic and butter. Excellent! I'm sure I've had some other stuff here, but it's definitely a go to spot for basic seafood. Last time I was in San Diego I tried this place and it was so good that I just had to come back a second time this weekend. I typically try to go venture off to other places but just had to come back. The service was good. Drinks were constantly being refilled and plates picked up when done. The food was excellent. Ehhhh. Went to the bay there with friends. Simple order. Pork Sliders with cheddar and crispy truffle fries. Order came and the cheese was under the pork and couldn't even tell it was there. Had to ask! Fries were tasty but mushy. Manager delivered food so I asked for crispy fries. Took forever and came unseasoned compared to the first order. Also asked for ketchup that never came. Had to flag down 3 other servers for assistance and soda refills because we never saw ours. Manager never checked back on the refire. Apparently they don't care that much. read more

I have been a fan of the Brigantine for years. I have mainly gone to their Del Mar location but my wife and I were in Point Loma and decided to stop in for a bite. I advise anyone who eats or wants to eat here to BRING CHANGE WITH YOU for the parking meters! The entire parking lot is metered and is constantly checked. We walked inside and got seated right away. Our waitress promptly came over and took our drink/food order. A short time later, we got our food. My wife ordered the chicken tacos and I had their fish taco plate which was awesome! Their fish tacos are WAY BETTER than Rubio's. My only advice is to ease up on the cheese just a tad as it was a little too much for my wife to handle. Keep up the great work! My wife and a I have frequently been to this location and it's been about 5 months since we last visited... We were there last week and I have to say we were very disappointed in the fish tacos they served us.... I couldn't believe how chincy they were,, I mean I thought it was a joke .. there was nothing to it. a very thin slice of fish and a sprinkle of lettuce/cabbage... for $8.... Cmon man !! if I was the manager or restaurant owner I would never have had that leave the kitchen... there are plenty of other establishments that would put this fish taco to shame.... we also got the beef sliders and although they taste good it was also very plain and no such presentation for either one... when patrons go out and spend their hard earned money at least serve something worthwhile !!! sorry,,, I do love this place but I can't believe times would be this tough for a restaurant like this to serve us what they did. The restaurant is divided into 3 parts: bar, dinning room and an outdoor patio (on the second floor) - its great to come here for a happy hour on a warm day and enjoy appetizers or a cocktail. Now lets get to the food. On my last trip here i had Jumbo Sea Scallops dish with lemon-herb risotto and vegetables (baby carrots & scallop squashes). The scallops were fresh, soft, lightly seared.. melted in my mouth, risotto was ok. As an appetizer i ordered an arugula salad with wall nuts. When my salad came out i was shocked by the size of it - a large bowl filled to the top. Definitely a must split for 2 people. Forgot to mention, they also bring you 2 types of bread - Sweet Molasses and sourdough. My bf ordered "tonight special" - Lobster tail..eh .... The lobster was over cooked, chewy. The presentation was not very appetizing, the tail was topped with some brown stuff..it looked like turkey stuffing. It was served with garlic fries and veggies.. honestly i don't see lobster and oily fries go together hand in hand.
