    NAPA VALLEY NACHOS
    Vivian H.

Heard the Brig was a local institution and we have a family friend who worked here for decades as a bartender. Was seated at our pick of tables on 4pm Monday. Started with couple orders of CALAMARI - big thick strips - sooooo good. We were tempted to order another but all the other dishes came and were so generous we refrained. The NAPA VALLEY NACHOS were delicious with potato instead of tortilla chips and blue cheese - never seen this dish on any napa menus but I guess pt Reyes is the Napa connection? Marin is close enough? Def wanna eat this quick before the fontina really solidifies or the chips get soggy. The fried fish, grilled swordfish, and skirt steak TACOS were all seriously good. Hearty, flavorful, moist. Bet Taco Tuesdays are amazing here - something to keep in mind for next visit! I didn't try but heard from others (locals who are regulars here) that the CLAM CHOWDER was watery and the MAC N CHEESE was also not cheesy - not sure if an off night or they changed the recipes. But we'd gotten a couple orders of both (because they usually like it!) and had quite a bit leftover to take home and doctor up a bit. Had a BRIG MARG - think server said it had OJ so not a traditional marg but very easy to drink the whole big ol pint glass. They have their own beers too! Not sure what we ordered was on the happy hour menu but there were a lot of good options on there. If the chowder and mac weren't so disappointing would have rated The Brig higher, but I loved the tacos and calamari! Would definitely come back and give it another shot, especially for Taco Tuesday.

Nice atmosphere, but service was poor - Irish Coffees were horrible, but Spinach salad was delicious! Not a fan of the Mud Pie, either

To start with, that's the best service I've had in a restaurant in years Naomi, I apologize the spelling of his name is probably wrong unbelievably great bartender and the second bartender such great teamwork good good folks. Even the food runner bus person took time to speak to me and give me attention genuinely have conversation. The octopus is the best I've ever had in my life and I would dare anyone to say that there's any better prepared octopus anywhere. The ambience is great. I will definitely be coming back here and bringing friends.

10-minute wait for 3 of us on a Monday at 6:15pm for a patio table. Beautiful views, we saw the sunset and even seals in the water! Prosecco Lavender Sour - 3.5 stars Oyster - 3.5 stars Crispy Brussels Sprouts - 4 stars Jumbo Day Boat Scallops - 3 stars. Side veggies were soggy and not enjoyable. About $240 total including tax/tip for 3 drinks, 1 starter, 3 entrees.

Stopped in for a quick bite after a morning hike before catching our flight out. It was not too busy so we got seated quickly, ordered right away, and the food was out quick and delicious.

We often come here for a nice relaxing lunch or dinner while visiting Point Loma. This is the second place I took my wife after we began dating. The service is usually great and the view of the marina is quite pleasant. This particular meal, we just split a bunch of apps....! Between the cups of chowder, coconut shrimp, crab & shrimp fondue (our favorite) and cocktail Del Mar (our other favorite) we were absolutely stuffed and had such a nice variety of flavors! I personally was not fond of the sauce served with the coconut shrimp and wished it was a typical sweet chili sauce. I probably wouldn't order these again, but everything else was fantastic!

The location is wonderful . We came for Fourth of July while staying in the island and chose to sit on the balcony . It was fun one of their specials of night was the was jelll-o shots (bringing back memories of college days !). Enjoyed the chocolate martini and a Elijah Craig bourbon. We had the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp which was a bit disappointing only because I thought the shrimp would be bigger therefore making the bacon not be so dominant and the crab and shrimp flavors balance better . The sauce that was with it had a nice flavor. Our other meal was the surf and turf special. The steak was a little over cooked for med rare but still very tasty and juicy. The lobster was soft and not fishy tasting. The crab cake was light and a good balance of flavor in the style of a soft filling vs a lump cake style. The dinner was finished off w their mud pie . It was a not too sweet or overly coffee flavor but something was just missing for the slice being so thick. Like a thicker ribbon of fudge or an offset drizzle of caramel which some mud pie can have. Despite being very full it was all eaten is good time along w their martini which was a yummy flavor Overall would return again and recommend

Macadamia nut halibut and the crab stuffed tiger shrimp. Tasteless and bland. The vegetables were the best part,

Welcome to the most mediocre, geriatric, restaurant in the area. Service was poor and slow. The food was mediocre and literally had zero seasoning on it. The "special" was a macadamia nut crusted halibut which was blander than a frozen fish stick. The best part of our meals were the vegetables. Needless to say will not be back.

The ambiance is good. We went for happy hour arrived 5:30ish. The lady forgot to come get back to us for our orders and give us water. The place is pretty busy so I guess that's why. Nonetheless, the food is amazing, presentation is nice. Worth $7 or even more!

Came for HH $7 menu! Lots of selection in this tucked away restaurant by the water in Point Loma. Self seated in only the bar and lounge area in order to get the HH menu. Casual dining with sports playing on the TVs. We ordered the clam chowder, fish and burger slider, and oysters. Everything was yummy and fresh! The sliders are so cute and small and come with a good amount of fries

We were looking for a fish restaurant and the other two places were closed. So glad we decided to come here with an old school special dinner feeling. The fish dishes were great, perfect service and reasonable pricing for the dinners.

The mud pie. Absolutely decadent and, trust me, it will feed three.

What is the parking situation? Is it free or metered? Is it public parking if we wanted to walk around Shelter Island after dinner or only for guests?

Lynn is correct. A large lot with metered parking. You only have to feed the meters until 6:00pm. The very south part of the lot has quite a few non-metered spots but they are not always available. You can certainly leave your car and walk around,… Read more

She didn't make us feel rushed despite the growing line behind us (we were truly trying to hurry, though, because of it). If you like sashimi, get their sashimi appetizer! We haven't been able to find a good place for sashimi since we moved to Southern California 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, we've gotten good sashimi, but not cut thick & with good quality that is worth the price like this place. The price wasn't even as high as many of the other sashimi places we've tried! They give you only 2 fish choices on the plate, however. They have listed about 5 or 6 different kinds, but it depends on what is available. We had salmon & tuna. Salmon is my favorite, but their tuna was fantastic! First time I can say I may have liked it better than the salmon!! Their other dishes we had were also yummy. My daughter loves scallops & they were cooked to perfection. I don't usually like scallops because most places cook them till they're rubbery. Not this place! My husband had swordfish & I had the sea bass. Both were also delicious, but I think they may have mixed up which plate went to which person. Good thing, as we were trying each others' food, my daughter noted the slight texture difference between the two (I hadn't had a chance to taste them yet). Interestingly, swordfish usually has a vastly different texture than bass, but here, they cook it so well, there wasn't a huge amount of difference! That says something since swordfish is usually very "meaty." If my daughter hadn't noticed, I wouldn't have complained even though I was looking forward to the bass. I like flakier fish. However, the bass wasn't as flaky as I anticipated, but both were so tender, the mix-up wasn't a deal breaker. I don't know how they season the rice, but YUM! Even though I'm Asian, I'm not one who usually eats the rice. It's usually just a filler for me, & since I don't eat much, I'd rather eat the "other stuff" & usually leave most of the rice. Not here! I almost couldn't get enough of it, lol! So good!! At the end, we needed boxes. We had to ask two different waitresses since the first one we asked never came with them. It's an "order at the register then find a table" type of place, so there wasnt any "service" to speak of. Be prepared to stand in line - this place is popular for a reason! Parking is a challenge, but worth it. We definitely will be back!

I had to go do a wellness check, as I just love me a Scallop Sandwich. Pulling into the parking area, everything still seemed in place, hard to find parking, regardless of how busy or not busy Point Loma Seafoods is. After parking, we walked into a relatively short line, and my brain immediately went to "Oh No, maybe it is true". We were called to order rather quickly, and I ordered my Scallop sandwich, my wife ordered the fish sandwich based on the employee recommendation, we also ordered onion rings based on his recommendation, and a bowl of clam chowder, just because, well we both really miss the clam chowder from Fish House Vera Cruz (RIP). While waiting for our order, we browsed the large glass case fronts full of freshly caught seafoods, live tanks of lobsters and crabs, and a full selection of in house smoked fish. While there was seating outside, we decided to grab a seat inside, next to a window. The general ambiance of this place is quiet, quick, seafood warehouse, sitting right by the water, it's just an overall beautiful place to eat at. There is no air of elitist here, people are not dressed up with reservations, with fancy waiters and table service, no, this is like a giant workplace cafeteria feeling, just overall a very relaxed atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long for our food, maybe 15 minutes. Let me give you a food-by-food rundown for what we ordered. New England Clam Chowder | 8oz Cup $6.03 -I would pass on this next time, while the texture was great, the taste was disappointing to me, quite fishy tasting. Scallop Sandwich | Lightly Breaded Eastern Dry Pack Scallops, Market Price, I think MP was around $17.99 -Amazing, just as good as the last one, the lightly breaded scallops were melt in your mouth delicious, left me longing for my next venture here. Fish Sandwich | Lightly Breaded Alaskan Cod $14.99 -Great sandwich, flaky, tender, again the breading was on point, zero fishy taste, I will stick with my Scallop sandwich but would not be mad eating another of these! Onion Rings | $6.03 - Ok so go to a seafood place, loaded with all sorts of fresh fish and order onion rings? I cannot be happier for this recommendation by the gentleman/fish monger taking our order, these onion rings are SO good. I would go here for the onion rings alone! *All sandwiches are served on fresh sourdough bread, with Mrs. Kelly's tartar sauce. The bread has such a nice bite to it and accompanies both the scallops and fish so well. Mrs. Kelly's tartar sauce, spread on the bread gave that nice crisp, balance and is the perfect, and only condiment needed. Glad that we came in, as this place is just, so good still, and that makes me, and my mouth, happy!

Parking is fairly easy as there's a large lot across the street from the restaurant. We arrived right when they opened and were the first in line! The Mira Mesa location always has such a long line so I was a little surprised to put in our orders so fast. Maybe not as many people know about this location. When we walked in, I immediately noticed an unusual smell inside. Nothing like seafood that's been sitting out for too long but more like weird cleaning chemical smells. At least all of the seating is outdoors (some shaded) so you don't have to endure those smells. I ordered the Spicy Salmon and Pearl Harbor. The salmon was solid and I thought the fish quality was good. The sauce is similar to a spicy mayo and I didn't think it had much of a kick. The Pearl Harbor is tuna with a sweet, thick sauce (hoisin maybe?). I've had this flavor before at the other location but for some reason, it tasted off here. Also, the tuna didn't have that bounce of a fresh fish. Overall, salmon was good but maybe they were having an off day for the tuna. Hopefully it's not a recurring issue because I really want them to succeed. They're my favorite poke place in San Diego!
