We had NO CLUE they give you a free birthday entree. What an awesome surprise! I had the crabcake sandwich. My fiance had the Blackened Swordfish. We both enjoyed out entrees immensely. When we were finished eating, out waitress offered to take a picture of us in front of the river. If we are ever in Toledo again, I will make sure we return. Getting comps encouraged us to spend; drinks, apps, meals, extras, no worry. Our bill was easily $100-$200 for two. We left today spending less than $80. How is this good business? It's sad what was a birthday experience once a full on splurge, is just a dinner out. Is this good business?

After going over the specials, none of us ordered a cocktail, which disappointed him. None of us ordered salads or the famous lobster bisque (which we would have if we were asked) and nobody ordered any of the specials. Mr. Ponytail guy made it obvious we were wasting his time and basically chose to neglect us for the rest of the evening. He didn't even bring the entrees out of the kitchen. The coup de grace for the evening is the barmaid screwed up my change 3 times. I know, math is hard, but when the bill comes to $60.06 and you give $80.00 in cash, the change should be $19.94. She gave me back $4.06. I informed Mr. Ponytail guy of the error and he brought me another $5.00 bill. Again, math is hard. He also said he never checked the amount of money I gave him to cover my check, so he didn't know what was going on. Way to be a steward of your customer, Mr. Ponytail guy... Came here from my grandparents' 68th wedding anniversary. Took them to The Heights first, which is the rooftop bar located at the top of the same building, then came to the Brim House for dinner. I called ahead and told the staff that we were celebrating my grandparents' 68th wedding anniversary and asked for a bottle of champagne to be waiting for us at the table. Not only did they do this for us, but they also brought over a nice big plate of desserts for everyone to share at the end of our meal for no charge. Restaurant pickings on Sunday night in Toledo are slim, so I thought that I had lucked out to find a legitimate, classy restaurant with top-notch food and a swanky vibe. Nope. It was handsome in that hotel-restaurant way, so there was no impediment to enjoying my meal but nothing to sell the place either. And the absence of other diners is usually a strong point, but nobody wants to walk into a completely empty restaurant, right? Thankfully, the food redeemed them. Lamb chops, B+: You can tell that these weren't the choicest cuts of meat, but they were prepared very nicely in a rosemary and red-wine demiglace. Very tasty. It wasn't listed on the ingredients for this dish, though. The sweet chili sauce saved this dish from being a total wash. Crab cakes, A: The star of the meal. These were some of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted, and that's saying something. In Toledo, OH? Yes! Simple--just crab meat and a few vegetables, still mostly crunchy. I was a little disappointed in the fries because they were fried more than I prefer but were still good. Best of all, we both took home leftovers! Seriously, the plates couldn't adequately support the generous portions of food with heaping amounts of fries- and I say that as a good thing! The ambiance is that of an upscale sports bar, but was pretty quiet when we were there, even though screens were turned on. Our server was very responsive and efficient. Overall a great experience and I definitely recommend checking out My Way Bistro for amazing sandwiches (also offer salads that I haven't yet tried) that are levels up from typical bar food.

Found a parking spot not too far from the entry as the wind chill was in the single digits. MyWay was crowded, but we were seated right away. Needless to say, the noise volume was elevated. There was a large group of people on our side of the restaurant that seemed to know one another. They were rather boisterous and seemed to have consumed a fair amount of alcohol. Even witnessed a middle aged woman who could hardly walk out on her own. Prior to her bumper-pool walking style on the way out, as she was seated, she hoisted up her leg and placed her heel on the man's shoulder she was with. Mercy! Alcohol can cause strange events to happen. We both ordered the Blackened Salmon Quinoa Salad with the Walnut Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing. Salad cost $18. To me, the salmon portion was a bit smaller than anticipated, but had a good blacked spiced mix and done very nicely.

Both were really good. The soup was homemade cream of mushroom. It had great flavor, it was hot and the serving was plentiful. The chicken salad was also really nice. The chicken was cubed, the veggies were nicely diced, it was well seasoned and not too "wet." On the other hand... I think it was the week before, I had the fried chicken sandwich. God, I've never had a piece of fried chicken so dried out and tasteless. All the mayo in the work couldn't help that thing. It was just awful. My suggestion is to stick to the specials if you go here. The ambiance is really cool (even though the carpet needed a good cleaning back in the Carter administration). It's a place that you would never find if you didn't know it existed. The soups are always good and the salads always look pretty nice too. Wait staff is on it and the food does come out quickly. I just can't get past that fried chicken sandwich... unforgiveable.

I ordered a Chef's Salad with no onions, no tomatoes, with french dressing and add croutons. Simple enough right? When I received my salad there were Portobello Mushrooms throughout the entire salad. Ugh!! I was completely disappointed and did not have time to get a replacement since I only have 30 minutes to begin with! This was my second time ordering from here and I didn't want to leave a bad review but I would prefer to get what I pay for and nothing extra that I didn't!!
