This is our 3rd time here and we won't be back. All 3 visits have been the same experience as last nights visit. We have given this place ample opportunities to impress us, but it never did. Food came out incorrect and cold. One of our party members ordered Brisket on a Saturday night at a BBQ joint. All the food came out 1 hour after order, it arrived cold, and hers never came out AT ALL because the server "forgot" they were all out of Brisket. On a Saturday night, no Brisket, at a BBQ joint?! All that after we had already waited an hour for cold, mediocre food. We also had to ask our server multiple times for water to be refilled before server every actually refilled water. Terrific sports bar with good BBQ and other food selections, a nice variety of drinks, beautiful brick interior with hard wood floors and plenty of space. I have been drooling about the possibilities of this place every time I see the food pics on Instagram. As tempting as it is I try to steer clear of this kind of food too often as I'm getting older and I don't want to get huge and I had a heart attack a year ago. But shit. You only live once. When I really enjoy a place I always read the few bad reviews to see what their problems were. Long waits aren't really an issue with the restaurant people. You can't slam someone for success. Customers bump you when they're getting drinks when you're eating at the bar? You're eating at the bar idiot. Anyway. We went for brunch and it wasn't crowded as it just opened. And it was Pride so people were a little further down south. It ended up getting packed though. The service was amazing. Everyone, even the chef checked on us to see how everything was. The answer? So good. The staff was very friendly, sincere and you could tell by the energy that they all liked each other and enjoyed working there. That really adds to the atmosphere. We started with bloody Marys which were spot on. I got the Breakfast sandwich with Brisket. It was wonderful. The only thing I would change is the bun which was kinda basic. One thing I did notice was I was charged 17.50. The menu said 12.00. I thought maybe since it was brisket? Now that I'm looking at the menu there's no mention of that. Hmmm. If there is an up charge they need to mention that. If not I want a free Bloody Mary next time. And there will be a next time. My friend got the smoked pork omelet which she really enjoyed. Me and my boyfriend were excited to try Bristol! I heard great things and the Instagram pictures of food looked awesome! First things first when we get to the door we get bombarded for our IDS. My boyfriend didn't have his wallet and they were eerie when all we wanted was dinner. I understand we are in the short north, but that was odd. Service was awkward.. Me being a server (as my main job) I may judge to much but honestly they didn't make us feel comfortable. We were trying to eat dinner and it seemed like it already turned into a "bar " instead of a "restaurant" the bartender proceeded to serve other customers beside me while I was eating and they were all bumping into me trying to get a beer.. the customer apologized and the bartender didn't even think twice how it could be rude. Food came out wrong and cold but we decided to try what we got instead of what we ordered. Not good. I feel like what we DID order would been great but that's what we got. Also don't like how you can't get your chicken wings tossed in any sauce but the sauce the wings come in are these awkward ramekins you can't even dip your wing in.... they should think about that for the people who love sauces.. lol I gave this place 2 stars because I love the decor! It's very cute and reminds me a lot of the bars in Gatlinburg and the live band was great! I would try again and see if things are better. read more

I went to Bristol a couple of weeks ago for a quick stop. I haven't had the opportunity to go at night. I had a sampler from the menu all of which tasted very good. Happy Hour with my Yelp Elite colleague Becca W was on point! I will dream about the pumpkin burbon cocktail for many nights to come... that alone will bring me back. It tasted like Christmas in Kentucky... and I would know since I used to live there! My blue cheese bacon cheeseburger was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of pink. I'm not usually a waffle fries fan as they tend to be a bit mushy for my taste, but these maintained their crunch and were tasty dipped in the BBQ ranch sauce. I stole some of my other friend's fried pickles... delightful! Just make sure you really love pickles or bring lots of friends because that basket was mammoth! read more

We really enjoyed our bourbon but unfortunately the service was quite poor. Our server never introduced himself, and rarely came back to the table. We ordered nachos add pulled pork, and it came out almost instantly - but everything from queso to pork was cold, and it was completely drenched in the cilantro crema, which only made it more cold. By the time our server checked on us, we had eaten what we wanted because we were starving, and he just asked if he could remove our plates - never asked how our meal was. He may have had all the tables in the place but this was disappointing for nearly $20 nachos on a birthday outing. read more

TL;DR food was okay service was horrible. I won't go back. I want to start this long rant by saying that I normally use yelp to find restaurants not review them, however this was so bad I had to leave one. I specifically chose this place because I saw it featured on the local news for restaurant week, which according to everything I saw online was July 15-20th. We made reservations for 7/20 at 8pm. I made the reservation because I new it would be crowded especially during restaurant week. We arrived at 745 and checked in with the hostess and decided to get a drink at the bar. While at the bar it took the bartender more than 10 minutes to bring us a drink menu or take our order. When we did order drinks the bartender took my drink to the couple sitting next to us had to remake mine. When he brought my wife's drink it was a completely different cocktail then what she had ordered. After waiting at the bar for quite a while we asked the hostess about our table. We were told that they were still waiting for other customers who were just hanging out still. We were finally seated at 830 (half an hour after our reservation). After being seated it took the waitress over a half an hour to take our food order. When she did we inquired about their restaurant week menu. She told us that they ended restaurant week the day before! We told her that we specifically came because we thought it was restaurant week. Her reply was that "oh well it was a really good deal but it ended yesterday". I wouldn't have wasted my time at Bristol Republic when there were 120 other restaurants in Columbus participating in this event. The last thing I will say about this place is that the barbecue was decent. I have eaten at smoked on high where they supposedly get their barbecue from and it is not on the same level as SOH but it was pretty good. Despite that this is maybe the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant and because of that I cannot give it more than one star. read more

I didnt order any drinks but I've heard thet have some great ones. Once my party arrived we ordered. I got the buffalo mac n cheese. It's not on HH but it's a nice portion for $11. And boy is it good. It comes sizzling in a cast iron skilled. A creamy mac n cheese coated with a crispy cheese top and crispy buffalo chicken bites with ranch or blue cheese drizzle. I was in heaven with the 1st bite. Absolutely one of the best mac n cheeses I've had. While there are many delicious skillet mac n cheeses in the short north, this might have moved to the top of my list. My friend got the Bama chicken again a nice size sammy that comes with chips for only $5 on hh. I was skeptical to join some friends here for brunch, knowing that Columbus lacks viable BBQ options and a 'country/Nashville' type bar in a cultural/artistic community. We were 1 of maybe 4 tables in there, which was surprising of a new restaurant in an area where brunch wait times can exceed 2 hours, so service was great and quick to attend to us. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was flavorful and it came with house-made chips. The chips were pretty bad, and everyone at our table seemed to agree. Ultimately, while I wouldn't seek out a trip back, I wouldn't mind winding up here. I like the owner's concept to bring the Nashville style to Columbus, and wish him nothing but the best, but their best bang for their buck will definitely be the late night bar crowds - as I saw it was packed the night prior. read more

Finally another southern bbq place in Columbus! We went here for my birthday dinner and it was delicious. Definitely get the nachos. They are a don't miss. We also tried the deviled eggs which had burnt ends (yum!). My boyfriend and I shared the large platter sampler which was more than enough food for the 2 of us. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they were out of the ribs; which is what we both really wanted. They also don't serve the banana pudding which I would love for them to bring back. Bristol Republic has some of the best bbq in Columbus! Aside from the fun atmosphere the food is delicious and reasonably priced. My boyfriend and I split the "try it all ya'll" platter with wings, ribs, hot links, pulled pork and 2 sides. Pro tip add on the brisket for an extra $9. I love being able to try a little bit of everything. My favorite is the brisket, it is so tender and flavorful. The pucker sauce is sweet and spicy - order extra! We've ordered through Uber eats during the pandemic and unfortunately the platter special isn't offered on the app but have ordered entree meals that have been delicious as well. Also, we did notice there wasn't an option to add sauce on Uber eats so we called the restaurant after we placed the order and they added it on. So this place gets 4 stars, the food was great but our server sucked with timing. We ordered fried pickles as our appetizer, yet our appetizer came with our entrees.. I almost wanted to tell her to take them back but I actually wanted the fried pickles but I'd much rather have them as an APPETIZER BEFORE the meal lol. Anyways I had the smoked chicken wings, classic Mac and cheese and brisket baked beans. For the baked beans to have brisket in the name there was almost no brisket at all. The wings were pretty good I got the sweet and spicy sauce to have them thrown in, the Mac n cheese was good to but I can do without the crusted topping it was almost to crusted. On a rating scale of 10 this place gets an 8, I've given up my love of pork so I did not try any of their pork. However; I ate a few pieces of my sisters brisket and I will say it was really good.
