I am so disappointed in this restaurant and to be fair I can't even leave a real food review. We went after eloping in Napa at a vineyard nearby. They were aware of that and greated us kindly and even gave us a card. Then our waitress brought us a complimentary glass of champagne - also very nice. Then we promptly ordered excited to eat and we hadn't eaten for a long time due to wedding things. However then it all stopped. We waited 30 min no food, 45 min no food server apologized for the amount of time it was taking. Then an hour no food and I had only been given one other drink. We saw food being delivered to all the tables around us. Our server even offered to bring us an app to hold us over and that never showed. After waiting an hour and 10 min for any food and seeing others receive we left. We were starving and exhausted and disappointed - we had been told great things about the restaurant and sadly we saw none of it. read more

We had our anniversary dinner here and the food was delicious! Upon arriving though, the hostess must've been having a bad day. I didn't get her name, but she was asian with shoulder length hair and she gave a little attitude when she sat us. Then she takes out an envelope and says, "Whose birthday is it?" I told her that it was actually our anniversary and she says, "Well it said birthday!", and storms away with the envelope. I pulled up my reservation on my phone to show her that it in fact said anniversary, but she never came back. My husband also noticed that the manager was out during the evening introducing himself and chatting with the tables, but NEVER once came to ours. I thought that was a little strange. Our server and the busser named Danny were very friendly and chatted with my husband for a bit. We had the tempura green beans for our appetizer and for our meals the Carbonara and Ribs. I can't complain about the food, but my husband had a little trouble cutting the ribs himself, since they didn't come pre-sliced. Our dessert was amazing too! If the service was better and i felt like we were being treated equal to all the other tables around, then they would've had 5 stars from me. A group of ten of us came from lunch on a Friday afternoon between wine tastings. The food was delicious (I posted some pics). They always have rotating sandwich, flatbread, soup and fish specials. Our server was outstanding. Though the interior was beautiful, we sat on the patio facing their beautiful garden. After we ordered food, we were able to walk around the garden and the neighboring vines. They have house sparkling and still water. ALL of the sides were fantastic (truffle fries, hush puppies, shoestring onions, and this potato cheese dish). Many of us got different dishes and everyone was happy with the taste of their selections. We will definitely come back here when we come to Napa again. read more

I just moved into the area and have been wanting to try the iconic Brix, but I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect with some of the 1 and 2 star reviews here. My experience was stellar - great food, attentive service and gorgeous setting. The setting/service alone deserves 3 stars so someone really has to have an off day in the kitchen or on the floor for it to get anything less but maybe it's a strategy to scare people off and make it easier to get a reservation! The garden at Brixx is beautiful. The weather was amazing and allowed for a lunch on the patio facing the gardens. It turned out to be a perfect Sunday lunch. We were all vegetarians and vegans in the group and the menu had something for all of us! The vegan Impossible burger was by far the best vegan burger I've had!! Although the food took a while to be served (almost an hour!) after we ordered, the food was delicious! Also, the huge sun flowers in the garden kept us mesmerized as we walked through the garden while waiting for the food and so it didn't feel like too much of a wait! read more

Drove by the restaurant a couple of times while I was visiting Napa and I decided to give it a try. The outdoor patio is very pretty! Unfortunately we had issues with the food that we ordered: Appetizers - Green beans - Tasted good. Deviled eggs - only tasted like the fried batter and lacked in texture and flavor. Main Courses - Vegetarian pasta - very good. Ribeye - I ordered the Ribeye Medium Rare and it came well done. Sides - Mac and cheese - when the runner dropped the food off and removed the lid she seemed surprised to see pieces of burned build up from the pan but didn't say anything. It def had a burned after taste and wasn't good. Brussel Sprouts - We actually sent this one back because they were overcooked, dry and flavorless. We switched them for the Asparagus and had the same issues. If we had more time I would have sent my entire dinner back but we had purchased movie tickets and were in a rush. Definitely not worth the prices and we left very disappointed. Didn't expect this type of cooking from such a beautiful spot in Napa. Also, lights in the dinning room are way too bright and if they dimmed them down a little it would help the ambiance. read more

Wow... so hard for me to start this review. I've always worked on the principle that you should be positive before negative... Hmmm. OK... Got it... The Gardens are wonderful. Simply stunning vista of the Sugar Loaf Ridge that splits Napa Valley and Sonoma's Valley of the moon. We arrived just before 3pm for a leisurely, late-lunch at this old friend of a restaurant, not visited for a few years. The re-designed interior is awesome and open, with a shaded terrace to the rear where we were seated at a 4 top. I guess I can shorten this review by simply saying, "If you don't have the ability to staff the period between 2pm and 5pm with capable staff, then don't open the restaurant." I really hope that this was why the service was not just horrible, but gut busting funny, as we spent the first 20 minutes negotiating for water and drinks, with a series of errors in what was delivered to the table. We ordered food, a Caprese, a Crab Fondue and a Croque Madame. A perfectly reasonable amount of time later, the food arrived. OK, here were the basic issues; 1. The Caprese plate had obviously had a rough journey to the table as the crescent shaped arrangement of tomatoes on the left of the plate was partnered with a dirty water like pool of juices on the right... ick. Then it was time to hunt for the cheese... ah... there they are... 4 thimble sized chunks soaked in tomato juice. Then the taste... WOW... SALT... lots of SALT!!! 2. The Crab Fondue was not a fondue. I realize it's open to interpretation, but a very small cup cake sized container of dip, toasted similarly to a Creme Brûlée is not a Fondue. OK, so they have re-imagined a fondue, but this dip had zero seasoning. None. $14 of tasteless porridge like dip. I guess all the salt got used up on the Caprese. 3. The Croque. Not good. Not bad. Difficult to eat, but it was fine. The accompanying french fries? The worst, unseasoned fries we've had for some time. Again... that Caprese salt hog must have been the culprit. I guess we could have given feedback on the spot, but the wait staff struggled to respond to anything we asked for, including the check. We paid the not huge $115 bill and continued on our way. We are lucky enough to be able to drive the 1 hour to Napa valley a few times a month and sample the wine and food from Napa City center to Calistoga. From the spectacular, to those that, sadly, won't survive. Food and service at the level Brix are delivering will not cut it, if our experience there is the norm. It's not even close to being competitive. Of course, the number of new visitors each day to the valley allow will allow them to trade on their past reputation for some time. It will be a shame to lose this old friend, should the markets take a slide and visitors become more rare. Should that happen, the locals won't put up with Brix's current product. read more

My husband and I were celebrating our 15 year anniversary. Hard to do much during COVID but Napa has been our go to these last few months for dining. We had another reservation at a different restaurant for last night, but left after our first drink. The vibe was just not right for our anniversary. That's where Brix came in. We quickly made a reservation on open table. When we arrived we were sat at a lovely table in the garden and an anniversary card was at our table. Schema nice touch for a last minute res. The food was amazing, wine was superb ( we indulged in their own estate varietals), the service was top notch. For COVID safety they had different people to clear dirty dishes , while servers Only handled clean untouched dishes. They saved our night! read more

I have to give this place a 3. I will start with this: the food is good. I went with 3 others and tried a bunch of different offerings (they were all girls and so none could finish their entrees). I have two big complaints with this place. First, at this price one would expect a certain "wow" factor. While all the dishes were well seasoned and nicely executed (I know i've been watching too much Top Chef), The food did not leave me with any lasting memories. So as far as the $$$/quality of food&experience I'd say there are much better values -- especially in this area. Secondly, The interior decorations were not my favorite. Although there was modern decorations, the rest of the space gave me the feel of a log cabin. When you compare with other places in the area, for the price of this place, you'd expect a lot more. read more

For those who want to get right to the punch I wanted to give Brix a 4th star ONLY due to the beautiful outdoor seating & view, but I don't think that outdoor seating alone can command an extra star. For starters they brought us three appetizers; beef carpaccio, baked goat cheese, and a beet salad. These three dishes were fantastic, lots of delicate flavors that aired with elegance. This was followed by a spicy sausage pizza that was quite good. The crust was done right and the churrosso had a great heat (spicy) to it. For the main course they brought us the burger (a must), the swordfish, and the ahi tuna. The burger was phenomenal! The chedder was thick and sharp and did not get lost in the flavor of the beef. The tuna was tasty although one piece seemed to be more seared than the others. The swordfish was cooked very well- lots of flavor, but was topped with a tomato like sauce, which personally I just don't like tomato with my fish (just a personal thing). Finally we were presented with several desserts. They were all delicious (and I'm not just saying that cause I grew up with the pastry chef, I'd tell her if they sucked). For me the carrot cake which was moist yet had a crunch to it was a standout. The chocolate cake was supper rich for all you chocolate lovers out there. Brix seems like it could satisfy any person in your party. We sat outside on a beautiful day and a lovely patio looking out to a garden, with vineyards and mountains in the backdrop. It was quite an amazing site and I wouldn't hesitate to go back in a heartbeat- but next time I think I'd order the steak! I guy sitting at a nearby table had ordered one and it looked amazing! I would also note that you could very easily get by with sharing several appetizers (that we all agreed were slightly better than the main dishes) and a pizza. ...just don't forget to leave room for dessert! read more

I had lunch here after a wine tour. The food was absolutely delicious and well priced. The view from the terrace is very nice, and makes for a very relaxing enjoyable experience. Our service was very good. Our drinks and appetizer came out promptly, but it took a long time after that for the main dish to come. Our waiter told us twice that he was continuously checking on it and that it should be out soon. It still took a while longer, and without us complaining at all, the manager came to our table, apologized for the wait and brought us two glasses of their cabernet. If I'm back in the area, I plan to visit Brix again. read more

Great place for a romantic getaway dinner. Nice pairings of wine to go with your mouthwatering rare steak and potatoes or your 2-inch pork chop medium-rare. They have their own garden in the back where most of the produce is grown for the kitchen. You can actually stroll the many veggie aisles to walk off the calories put on. Went there for dinner this past weekend and it was nice, after a long drive and some wine we wanted to go somewhere and just relax and eat some good food. The service was excellent (they were attentive but not harassing), and we sat at a table where we could both sit together on one side (cute!) The best part is DEF the desserts (the peanut butter/chocolate one OMG!) He had the steak (he said it was cooked perfectly) I had the lamb (which was good but I prefer mine off the bone and didn't know this was on - my fault) yams and potatoes were excellent. I went here with a couple of peeps from out of town a while ago and have been meaning to yelp about the place ever since. This is an excellent brunch spot when you're with wine country virgins. On a fine sunny day, they will surely be wowed by the vineyard, the vista and good to excellent food quality (by brunch standards). Especially deserving of special mention were the extra small (or just small, I can't really visualize them anymore now) raw oysters; the smaller they are, the sweeter, supposedly. One more thing, my friends told me that while I was away from the table, a lady sitting at an adjacent table noticed that they were fidgeting due to the sun in their eyes. That lady got up, introduced herself as the proprietor, and offered her table, which was more shaded from the sun. My friends accepted this kind offer. Although this level of hospitality is somewhat expected at such a venue, I thought it's still worth mentioning. read more

Mixed review. Went with a party of 8. Had reservations and were seated immediately. Excellent wait person. Attentive without being obtrusive. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Two of the party ordered a streak. One was under cooked. One was over cooked. Both were dry. For the price this is unacceptable. One side of skillet grilled potatoes was as dry as the steaks. On the other hand those of us who ordered the various fish entrees were extremely satisfied. Perfectly cooked with excellent sides. Moist and flavorful. Forget the meat at this place. Save your money. Visit the wine list. Like many lists in the valley some good variety including some harder to find selections. The $20 corkage fee is fair. Not sure we will revisit this place. To me there are 3 criteria that I look for in a restaurant: Ambiance, Service & Food. The Ambiance at Brix is great. The inside is classy and the outside deck is beautiful. The views of vines with roses in the foreground is stunning. The gardens seemed well maintained and clean. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable. She recommended the mussels and salmon. My wife had the Split Pea Soup and Lasagne. The mussels were good but nothing special. The blackened Salmon was on a bed of broccoli and kale with tomato sauce. I thought this combination was too bitter and full of flavor that the salmon got lost. My wife was happy with her food. Overall, I would say that the food was ok and did not reach the standard that the price structure would lead one to expect. If the food matched its price point then this restaurant has all the components for big successes. read more

If one of your friends recommends Brix to eat, they are not your friend! My family came to enjoy dinner on a beautiful Napa evening. We chose to sit outside and right at the get go were not pleased. A group of young children screaming and shouting on the lawn area near our table. It sounded like a play yard and not one of the restaurant employees did anything about the noise level they created. Hello, parents this is not a playground, it's a restaurant! Go to McDonald's if you want your kids to play after eating!! Seriously ruining the beautiful atmosphere looking over the garden area with screaming and shouting. That was the beginning of a very disappointing evening. We ordered a starter of grilled artichokes which were so tough and no flavor none of us could eat it and we sent it back. We each ordered something different and I ordered the Seabass. First bite, it tasted very salty and had a fishy taste. Seabass is a very delicate mild fish and should not have a fishy taste or smell. All I could think was if I kept eating it to be polite I might be up all night being sick. So, I sent that dish back as well and ordered the Ribeye steak. The steak itself was good, tender and cooked the way I ordered, but the side veggies were so salty, they were not edible. My daughter had the scallops and they put them on a bed of some sort of almond mixture which was also very salty. My son-in-law had the signature pasta dish and although he said it was good, I think he was just being polite because when I tasted it, it was like ground pork,ground beef mixed with some noodles. The presentation was seriously lacking. Salt must be the first ingredient in their recipes! I have been to Napa a few times and always said you could never get a bad meal, but this restaurant wins the prize. read more

I was in Napa to celebrate my birthday and saw great reviews for Brix on Open Table. We had a reservation for 6:15, but due to complications with an Uber driver, were 45 minutes late for our reservation. The staff were more than gracious about our late arrival, and had no problem accommodating us each time we called with an updated ETA. I really appreciated the flexibility, especially as we had no control over the lost taxi situation! The environment is open, and beautifully decorated. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Our food was DELICIOUS. I had seen truffle fries on an online menu, and our waiter allowed us to order them despite not being a part of the main menu. We also had the mushroom risotto (flavorful), bolognese (hearty), green beans, and brussel sprouts (which may have been my favorite after the truffle fries). Our dinner was paced well, and the waitstaff were all attentive to our needs. The only surprise to me was a charge on refills of sodas-- not a big deal, just not something we were made aware of at the time. I thought the service, and experience, were fantastic, and would recommend this to others. When speaking with our driver later that evening (a local), she said that Brix is one of her favorite recommendations as well! read more

I came here with lovely girl friends on Day 2 of my Bachelorette Party. It was an awesome experience!! We were greeted and seated shortly after we entered the restaurant. We were here for their Sunday Brunch buffet. Many things create the WOW-effect for us - food presentation, interior decor, ambiance and food selection. We were seated in a wine cellar with a long table. We love this room! We could chat and laugh and not bother other guests. Favorite dish in the buffet - corned beef hash croquette, fresh oysters, made-to-order omelet, e'claire, french toast, and orange black currant scone. We were going to eat at mustards but it was packed, so we came to brix, and I am very glad we did! The restaurant is warm and inviting with an upscale feel that doesn't come off as pretentious. We ordered the grilled artichoke and roasted Brussels sprouts. Both were delicious, but my husband proclaimed the artichoke as the best he had ever eaten! For entrees, He chose the albacore tuna sandwich, and I had the cheeseburger. Both were really good. I also had a petite Syrah from t-vines that was quite nice. Our waiter Carlos was friendly, informed, made great recommendations and was very attentive. Honestly, this place is a great find and we will definitely return. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. I'm not sure why: Maybe I expected something a little more pretentious, Brix being located at a gorgeous location in the heart of Napa Valley. But all the staff were great, from the greeters at the door to the waitstaff (Jair is The Man!). The food was also good. Not phenomenal, but interesting and tasty. I didn't expect a buffet style (maybe I just didn't do my homework) but was okay with it. The salads were creative, the entrees were very good, and there were even numerous vegetarian options. Desserts weren't special, but I try to avoid those anyway. Bottom line though: As a vegetarian, I try to avoid buffets cause I don't like sponsoring the carnivores' bad habits. But this one really came through. The numerous vegetarian options were more than I wanted to eat, and we left feeling very satisfied. read more

Please be aware of dining with a SERVICE DOG! We made a reservation a week in advance and had let the restaurant know twice we were bringing a small service dog with us with no issue at all. When we showed up, we were told to walk around the outside of the restaurant, tie our SERVICE dog to a fence, and be seated at the dining area across the lawn. I had stated again our dog was a service dog and again told to tie her up. We quickly left and didn't want to dine at an establishment that couldn't accommodate a service dog. Hello.. I was at your restaurant today on 5/31/21. I just want to point out that my party of three women were there to enjoy a lovely day and we were treated horribly by your staff. He claimed to not be a server so I assume he was a manager. What a disgrace.. he was so disrespectful!! Your staff as horrible!! The bartender was rude also!! Your manager that was on shift on Monday at 7:30pm! He was rude as disrespectful! Our party spent over $300 and we were treated super rude because of our ethnicity! To me this should be on the news. Three Latinas were treated super rude by this man for no reason!! It's a shame that good citizens are spent their money at your establishment and were treated like second class citizens. I would expect an apology from this man and it's a shame that we spent out money here in this establishment that's supports such behavior!! He was super condescending! I don't go out and spend my money to be treated this way!! I did not witness anyone else there the ing treated so disrespectfully!! It could be because we are Latinas and no one ese there was.. again I would like to print out that we consume and had a meal and spent over $300. This was horrible and I believe I need to contact John Quiñones to see what they think about three Latinas treated the way we were treated in Napa. Such a disgrace!! Shame!! read more

Wow! My husband and I booked our reservation for our 20th anniversary dinner here over a month ago. Very easy to do online. Little did we know 8pm on a Tuesday in March, you don't need a reservation. So Maria Z was our server and the manager sat us. Both were super nice and wished us a happy anniversary several times each. We were treated to a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a handwritten card wishing us a happy anniversary. My husband ordered the crab fondue. Both of the Cabernets by the glass were delicious. Everything was delicious. We skipped salads and ordered entrees right away- my husband the scallops, and I ordered the salmon. The scallops blew the salmon out of the water. Haha just noticed the pun. The salmon was very good, I think I may have enjoyed it more with a green veggie rather than white beans. We ordered a tawny port and the maple creme brûlée for dessert. Amazing finish to a delicious dinner. The only thing I feel that we missed out on is the gardens. Went in for a late lunch, dine-in, yesterday and wow the whole experience was wonderful! Matt welcomed us so warmly and we felt as if we were greeting an old friend. We tried several things to share, but really enjoyed the tempura green beans, artichoke, and truffle risotto. And strolling through the beautiful grounds with a cool glass of rosé was really the icing on the cake. Even while practicing safe social distancing and wearing masks, it was a lovely, welcome escape from the pandemic tensions. I really needed that. Thanks so much, Brix and Matt.
