I completely see what Broadway Prime is going for - a hearty NY-style prime rib joint that isn't haughty and fills you up with tasty meat. And to their credit, they do get a lot of this right. The atmosphere is very NY-like, as well as the simplified menu that really focuses on the prime rib and NY steak set. The service was also friendly. And I was really forward to having a great meal on a late Sunday evening while it was raining outside. The issue is the food. First, because the salad is standard, they pre-make it in batches. And this makes the vegetable soggy. The prime rib is tender and juicy, but some how the au jus on our day was bland. The meat was great. But the entire dish had no attitude. I wish they had given it more flavor profile rather than relying on horse radish butter to add. The NY steak for more disappointing as the steak was tougher than expected. Sides were good such as mashed potatoes and cream corn though. At $61 for a prime rib dinner including salad, a large cut of meat, and 2 sides, I guess it is a fair deal. But given it is indeed a higher-end meal, one would expect something more flavorful. It absolutely is a hearty meal for sure. But would I repeat it for $61? That's where I hesitate. Broadway Prime is perhaps a decent date spot. Maybe a decent family eatery? A business meal location...? It's Labor Day weekend, we wanted to celebrate the long weekend with long slow roasted prime rib. searched everywhere and Broadway Prime had an availability at 5pm on a Sunday. We arrived early but server Wilson saw us with our child so he let us in and be seated 10min before opening, which was a kind gesture. Our first impression was... this place is old, fifth generations old. Their menu is pretty similar to House of Prime Rib in SF, without the tourist rush. The wine selection was pretty good and reasonably charged, so we don't recommend bringing your own wine guys. We ordered the 2 of the prime rib dinners; I shared mine with my my daughter because it's a big portion. My daughter loved their complimentary bread; she finished the entire basket (she didn't like the ones at HOPB). Their prime ribs, sides and salads were all very similar to HOPB's. Cream corn was a little too creamy, baked potatoes were cooked ok; the prime rib was really good, not over-seasoned and perfectly at medium temperature. Upon stepping into the restaurant, we were greeted with a welcoming smile and got seated right away. We sat closer to the entrance, across the bar with the window view. The lights were dimmed, with soothing music playing- it felt cozy. Our entree was also served with a side salad, tossed in their house dressing, english baked popovers, and complimentary bread & butter. We paired our meals with a red wine cabernet sauvignon. It was delicious, the meat was cooked to perfection- medium rare, tender, and juicy. To enhance the flavor, I add black pepper seasoning. Optional sauce on the side includes: horseradish, creamy horseradish, and A1. Our server checked in on us often to make sure we had the best experience. He did an amazing job! I wanted SOOO BAD to like this place, I've been to house of prime rib so many times and wanted to give other places a try so my wife and I stopped by here. Reservations were super easy to get (I guess that should have been the first red flag). We were seated quickly but our server just seemed like he was in a bad mood from the start, truly not sure why. My wife got the medium size cut and I got the largest. My "large" cut was not that large at all and even though I got medium rare half of it was med and the other have was rare ... i mean i guess i literally got "medium rare" if you think of it that way.. but clearly not cooked well. The baked potato was tiny and creamed corn was not creamy at all, mashed potatoes tasted from a box and overall the meat was bland. I'm reading the other reviews here and apparently if you finished the large cut you get an extra slice for free, I wasn't even offered that. The cream of spinach was flavorless and lumpy. The creamed corn was crunchy and was probably made from canned corn. The popover was eggy and soggy. For the nearby restaurants that consistently serve prime rib (not as a special), I've tried Kincaid's, San Mateo Prime, and Broadway Prime. FOOD I think San Mateo Prime and Broadway Prime taste pretty much the same, including sides. Their creamed spinach is really weird - like cream cheese goop with spinach, and both places taste the same. The baked potato at San Mateo Prime slightly edged out Broadway's because it came nice and hot. Broadway's was not hot at all, not even like heat lamp warm - it was maybe room temp. Overall, for both prime rib and sides, I prefer Kincaid's (but no popover at Kincaid's). I got the Broadway Cut (comes with a bone), English style. Broadway was really bland and it didn't really have an herb crust or much of any crust/bark. SERVICE Broadway Prime had hands down the best service. Probably the best service I've had in awhile. The server was attentive and helpful, offering things before I could even vocalize the request, and never took long to return with whatever I needed. I was really impressed. San Mateo Prime was OK, I have no complaints. Kincaid's had pretty slow service, we had to hunt for our server multiple times and it also took forever and multiple asks to get whatever was requested. AMBIANCE Kincaid's had the best vibe and you get a view. It's a large restaurant and feels contemporary. Broadway Prime has an old school steakhouse vibe, and worn in - in a good way, like a neighborhood mainstay. San Mateo felt like a slightly more formal steakhouse than Broadway. I don't know how long this place will survive with 1. Higher prices 2. Lower quality food 3. NOT caring when customers bring things to their attention We came here for a work lunch, and right off the bat, they missed the ball. Everything was pretty straightforward and standard. The place looks a little dated for my taste but I suppose that's part of its charm. The timing for bringing out food was a bit off. My mom got salmon and they brought it out a good 15min before they brought out the food. As for the food, I was sort of expecting garlic and garlic flavor to be integrated throughout the mashed potatoes rather than just 2 random cloves of garlic tossed on top. I love me some prime rib and my go-to spot is definitely House of Prime Rib-- like how can it be not? It's such an established institution! Word on the street is that 2 chefs who originally worked at HOPR branched off and established San Mateo Prime and Broadway Prime so there are a lot of similarities from HOPR. I've tried San Mateo Prime before and it was pretty decent but lacked the atmosphere and vibes of HOPR and I kinda echo the same sentiment after finally trying out Broadway Prime. I made reservations for a party of 5 (4 adults+ 1 toddler) for Saturday @ 6pm. It was pretty busy but we were greeted & seated right away at a table near the back. The staff was so kind and efficient. I got the peninsula cut with 1/2 creamed corn & 1/2 creamed spinach (LOVE that they have this option) + baked potato with all the works. The workflow was really similar to HOPR and San Mateo Prime with the salad starter, then the main entrees+ sides after. I think the prime rib could use more au jus and the sides were pretty comparable but it kind of lacks that atmosphere and sort of "entertainment" that HOPR has with their salad mixing demo and witnessing the actual carving of your beef in front of your table. Overall, I'll probably be back but prefer HOPR if I could. Also, the bathroom doesn't have a changing station for babies/toddlers so it was a little stressful trying to change my daughter's diaper on the sink table and then cleaning it after since there was only 1 sink :( read more

Came here last night.. tough to find parking during prime peak hours. Our reservation was at 6:30 and promptly seated. I ordered the Select cut at $63, my friend ordered the $69 Broadway cut which comes with the bone in. The salad had decent flavor, however, the lettuce leaves were already browning along the edges of the leaves, did not look like a fresh looking salad.. bread was nice and warm and good though. We both had the loaded baked potato and creamed spinach as sides. Not impressed.. The baked potato was sparsely "loaded" with maybe one teaspoon of sour cream and one teaspoon of bacon bits. I don't recall any butter nor green onions or cheese (wishful thinking) and the potato could've been a bit bigger. The creamed spinach was tasty however there were lumps of flour or roux that I kept biting into. And if you don't want your sides swimming in your au jus, ask for it on the side. The star of the show, the prime rib was meh.. nothing special. It was nicely done as medium rare with the cap being on the medium well side. This is my second time dining at Broadway Prime the first time I came here was 10 years and the food was good. Tonight however, it was NOT! I got the specialty cut steak and the steak they gave me was like a piece of rubber! Not just that I ordered the steak medium rare and that steak was over cooked it was really tough. On top of that they drowned the steak in somekind of peppercorn sauce. It had no flavor no seasoning I had to use half the salt shaker to give it some flavor. The steak was the equivalent of a late night 2am steak at Denny's! On top of that it was $70 hell no. The cream of spinach horrible! Frozen spinach! The cream of corn is also from a can I can taste the canned flavor. The Yorkshire pudding greasy it gave me heart burn. All in all the food was disgusting. A decent spot if you're looking to get your craving for prime rib satisfied. We saw on Tiktok that this business was a dupe for House of Prime Rib - but without the month long wait for a table. We came the day before Christmas Eve (on a Monday evening) right when they opened and luckily we did because we were seated almost immediately. After we left there was a line out the door. Parking is sparse as it's street parking on a main street in Burlingame so we definitely made a couple of loops before getting a spot on one of the side residential streets. We opt'ed for the Peninsula cut and got the garlic mashed potatoes + 1/2 corn and spinach. The standard bread, salad, and entree came out along with a popover. My husband and I both ordered Medium Rare, but in my opinion came out more rare than expected - part of it I couldn't chew and had to spit out. Came here for a birthday in the past week and the food was good and definitely a good price for how much food you get. They do service the food with bread and butter to start, a salad, English popover and then whatever main dish you ordered. I got the prime rib peninsula cut which I regretted since that was too small. My fiancé got a New York select and he was able to finish all his food so that was a good size for him and 3 other people got Prime rib broadway cut which was a lot so they saved the rest to go home. They gave a free ice cream for our friends bday and we ordered a tiramisu as well. The restaurant wasn't too packed for a Thursday night but the wait for the food was a bit longer since there was a huge party of 10+ ahead of us getting their order while we were eating our salad so our main dish took a while. We recently visited Broadway Prime twice in two weeks after a 2 year absence. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. Most of us have their signature dish. The food rating was one of "inconsistent", I would gladly gave our first meal a 4 star and that was why we eagerly return with a larger party a week later. Once seated, it took quite a long time for someone to put in our order, and it took about an hour after being seated for us to get our main course. The food itself was overall good. The bread was warm and crunchy. Unfortunately, they served the popovers and horseradish when we were about 1/3 through our plates which is why it is not in the photos. In comparison to House of Prime Rib in SF, the cost was almost comparable but Broadway Prime doesn't have the overall entertainment factor and ambiance of HOPR. Came around 5:20 on a Saturday night without a reservation. It was busy, got a table around 6pm. Ordered the select cut (medium) with half corn, half spinach and the baked potato. It also comes with salad and a popover. Asked for the select cut to be medium rare. The serving is very large. I think my cut was a little more on the rare side but it was still good. The salad was thousand island with bacon and egg bits. I think the steak is better than house of prime rib but the salad at house of prime rib was better. The popover tasted egg and was spongy like a sponge cake so I wasn't too impressed with that. Creamed corn was good. The baked potato was a big size but make sure to season with salt and pepper They had two kinds of horse radish. A mild and a spicy. The mild was too mild, the spicy was quite spicy but it was better than the mild. A little goes a long way. It's a good substitute for house of prime rib if you don't want to goto the city. Took family here for bday dinner. was greeted warmly by the owner or manager as he was a hella cool guy. i called for reservations the evening before but he did not take my name or number. when we got there, he said he remembered talking to me and we just hit it off, and we were promptly seated. the place was mid-sized, rustic and comfy. somewhat noisy as the placed filled up. we ordered all 3 sizes of the prime rib and a steak, with various makes of potatoes, creamed spinach, and creamed corn, plus some kind of bread puff, and ended it with cheesecake and tiramisu. food was good and service was friendly, prompt and attentive, from start to finish. the owner/manager stopped by during dessert and chatted and joked with us a bit, and just made us feel welcomed. cost was $370 and totally worth it. you get what you pay for as the food was good and you are getting a superior level of service and attention. we will be back for sure! read more

At first I was a little hesitant since when I walked in, everything that I remembered of the place was still the same. I would say I haven't been here for over 10+ years I walked to the bar to have pre cocktail drink. Had an amazing time here with my family. I had to get their Prime Rib medium rare with mash potato & cream corn & cream of spinach. The meat is sooo flavorful and sooo juicy. First time dining here, my wife and I came in on the tail end of a huge party that booked out the restaurant. It took awhile to get our food, we both asked for medium rare prime rib and both received rare. I've been in the industry for years and completely understand (given the booked out dining room). However, Katrina was absolutely amazing. Very attentive, kind, and professional. I would hire her to be part of my staff right now. I did not think it was worth it. My piece of meat had no flavor and I don't think it was worth it. The service was lacking and as first time visitors it was crazy to see people around us getting treated so much better. The space is dated and with the lighting flickering didn't make me feel like we should be in the building. read more
