Food was really good but service was awful. We came around 2pm so it wasn't busy at all. It took so long for our waitress to just bring our drinks. Food came out pretty fast but it was always a hassle to get our waitresses attention. She was always standing around or talking to her co workers. Never came to check up on us and had to flag her down from across the restaurant which is extremely annoying. I don't think she looked at our table once! I had to physically walk over to her to ask for our bill and to-go boxes. Oh and even worse was she was actually being attentive to her other tables... We sat right next to the door/ host stand and the one host girl just kept staring and glaring at me the whole time... My mom and I just felt extremely out of place and uncomfortable. Food was great! We were on a trip north on a Friday night, Warriors are playing and randomly chose to pull over to eat and see the game! We were warmly welcomed, found a perfect table at the back bar! My husband ordered the Boar burger! FANTASTIC! I asked for a suggestion between several items and was guided to their award winning duck burger! AMAZING! Just a side note, I just had knee replacement surgery, so I was wheeling a walker in a very crowded restaurant! Came here with a coworkers during lunch. Decided I wanted to be boring so I just ordered the old school burger with fries. My coworkers and I also decided to split a shake. The food took awhile to come, and was ok. It wasn't special. I was really looking forward to the shake, but the shake would never come. Apparently it was going to take 15 mins to start the machine, so we waited. We were later informed that the shake machine was broken, about 45 minutes into our lunch. Sad, very sad. After being here three times, I've decided that it's time to give credit where credit is due. And Broderick is well deserving of 5 stars! The first time I came here, I was on a double date and we stopped by this place for a quick pre dinner cocktail so there wasn't much to write about since I chose a house wine. I came by for a second time for another glass of wine on a Friday night and the atmosphere was a bit too packed for my liking so I went to dinner elsewhere. Third time was a charm. Came back on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I was looking through other reviewers pics to try and see what looked good but ultimately ended up giving in to my fried chicken craving and ordered the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with a side of garlic fries. One word can only describe this combination: HEAVENLY. Also, A+ for the presentation! I've had garlic fries all over the Bay Area from food trucks to white linen restaurants and hands down, Broderick's blows everyone out of the water! Seriously! If you are a garlic fries enthusiast like myself, this place will change your life. (You can quote me on this) fresh minced garlic and a special garlic sauce drizzled on top of the fries - orgasmic! The buttermilk fried chicken sandwich was great too. The only minor tweak I would suggest is to sans the tomato. Tomatoes make things soggy. Just my opinion. But the sandwich was amazing! Full of flavor with a slight tinge of a spicy kick. I also tried their porch sipper cocktail that's compromised of gin, berries, lemon and sage. Super refreshing. HORRIBLE service! We waited for over an hour and kept watching groups who had come in before us get seated first. We asked how many groups were before us and they told us one. We proceeded to watch 3 more groups get seated, and when we asked what was going on, they lied and said they had checked in before us. When we asked to look at their check in list, it was obvious they were lying, as our name was way above other groups! One of the workers accidentally mentioned that other groups were "in a rush". What a coincidence that as the only colored people in the room we were being ignored, but as soon as a white group complained about waiting for 5 minutes they were seated? Ridiculous. Friday night! I was sooo excited because a dear friend of mine who I hadn't seen in AGES and I were going to finally catch up and try somewhere new. Oh how I wish I could say I would go back but not after our treatment. The food was fine, our waitperson very attentive...BUT after sitting and chatting and catching up and thinking about ordering desert, a man NOT IN UNIFORM walked up to us and asked if we needed anything else? I give this place 4.9 out of 5 stars. The duck burger was on hot, and the milkshake tasted like the nectar of the gods. Our server Kelly is amazing (and patient) and crafted this shake with love, verve and vigor. We must now, however, address the elephant in the room: there is a noticeable lack of reclining seat backs and personal televisions. Started off well. The server recommended the grilled cheese because it has mac and cheese that is really good. She said i could get it without bacon because i am a pescatarian. I began to look forward to this. When The food was delivered, there was a slice of cheese and no mac and cheese. I sent the food back asking for them to add the mac and cheese. All of a sudden, someone was sitting next to me inturrupting my conversation. She sat down and started telling me they were out of the mac and cheese with no bacon. She asked what i wanted instead, never offering me a menu. We finally settled on something and she says, dont worry we will put a rush on the order. Put a rush? I would hope so. My brother was sitting across from me with his meal waiting. A couple minutes later the other item came out. Food was okay, hense the two stars. When we got our bill, it reflected the upcharge of the new item and no discount. I asked if something could be removed because of the inconvenience and the server comes back a couple minutes later discounting the difference of the two meals. This was a pretty big inconvenience and took about 20 minutes longer overall. In other restaurants, when this happens, they try and make the customer happy. I was clearly not happy and nothing was done to correct this. The food was okay, but the management was horrible. I will remember this when i walk around walnut creek looking for a place to eat. Pros: Honestly, this may actually be the best burger place EVER! The flavors here... just WOW. Your taste buds will be doing the happy dance after every single bite! There isn't a burger here that isn't good. I've tried 3-4 different ones (thanks to my friends) and they all have such unique and ridiculous flavors! The waiters are pretty funny and prompt with their service! The burgers are HUGE as are the fries they come with so you are will stuffed to the brim! I believe the burger I got was something that sounded exotic like a boar meat (just pick the weird sounding meat one and you won't be disappointed!) I want to start this review by saying our server Jenna was an absolute gem and made our experience at this restaurant amazing! Managers who read this: give that girl a raise! My mom, sister, and I were in Walnut Creek to get my wedding dress altered and wanted to get lunch before we head back home to Lodi. Broderick was easy to find and conveniently located between two parking garages. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. The decor is amazing I love all the old lightbulbs and big windows. Before we ordered we asked Jenna for her recommendations and ended up ordering (and thoroughly enjoying) all three she suggested. I got the gold rush with thick bacon strips and freaking mac and cheese on it *drooling thinking about it*. My sister got the lamb burger which she loved. We all agreed though that the Johnny Cash burger my mom ordered was hands down the best. Cooked to perfection and covered in the most delicious medley of sweet and spicy peppers. Even the plain (or as they call them "naked") fries were outstanding. I definitely will try a boozy shake or mule from their extensive drink menu next time I'm there. And last but most important to me: their bathroom was spotless! A clean bathroom always seals the deal for me. Welcome to Walnut Creek Broderick's!! This location is not like the one in Sacramento (which we love to frequent)- no dive bar vibe here. It has a cool rustic vibe but is super modern. Love the decor! The menu is equally as delicious. The Johnny Cash Burger with an egg remains my favorite. All of their dressings are so yummy. Their fries are amazing and I swear one day I will try to make it all the way to dessert. One day... Maybe.. I thought it was cool they kept some of the staff from hubcaps and they are all super sweet! The service was great. The drink menu was a little different. Our third time here. We come from Davis and eat at Broderick while waiting for a show at the Lesher Center, across the street. The service here is wonderful. Our waitress Candace was just amazing--friendly and always "there" but not hovering. She made our experience so much more pleasant. Previously we have gone to matinees, and so had lunch. This was our first dinner I love the crab Benedict, which was one of the reasons we returned the second time. (My friend had a burger and could not stop raving about the fries!) This time I ordered the Maryland Crab sandwich, which was a crab cake on a fabulous bun. While I preferred the Benedict this was delicious as well. It came with practically a vat of salad. There is an extensive menu of burgers and fries and I look forward to returning again to try the duck burger. If I have any complaint is that we sat at a table for two, with one side soft seat against the wall and the other side a regular chair. I was on the soft side and felt like I was sitting in a hole. I thought I needed a child's bib, my face was so close to the table. In fact, I had to hold the bowl of salad in my lap to avoid spilling it down my front. My only other complaint is that it's so LOUD. Conversation with a partner is all but impossible, but the food makes it worthwhile. read more

Came here on Saturday 9/9 around 3pm so it wasn't so busy. My husband loved the decor especially all the Edison light bulbs. But we came here for the food and the place certainly delivered. I had the mushroom and Gorgonzola burger and hubby had the Johnny Cash burger. Both were very yummy even though they're different from each other. We also shared a gravy fries which was yummy as well. For drinks, I had the pear drop which had a very pretty dark pink color and tons of sugar on the rim - very girly looking drink. My husband had one of the boozy shakes - toasted marshmallow coconut and it was to die for! Service overall was awesome. We'd love to come back and try their other dishes. read more

So Broderick is the latest in a slew of restaurants to try to make a name for itself on the Walnut Creek dining scene. It now resides in the same digs as Hubcaps Diner, a 27-yr old staple in the CoCo County community. Broderick is run by the same Hubcap's ownership group, and I guess to keep up with the growing amount of yuppies and hipsters in WC, they felt the need to churn out a subpar product for outrageous prices. Seriously $16 per burger, with practically nothing on it (maybe a day old bun and some Heinz)! It's most likely Hunts but anyways if you want any of the good stuff, you have to shell out $2 more per extra such as avocado or bacon. You want some shrooms on your burg add another $3 dolla bills yo! So we are talking at least a $20 burger. When did Walnut Creek become Manhattan?!? Same DBs I went to high school with (excluding the dining guests I was with) are frequenting this place. Don't see any power brokers here. I see blue-collar folks (don't get me wrong, this is Walnut Creek, plenty of white-collars and soccer moms as well) in search of a good burger. And what is being served is the equivalent of hot garbage at premium prices. Hey if this was a $4.50 burger, this review does not hit the presses, because I know what I'm about to get when I scrounge up $4+ in change from my linty jean pocket. I expect garb and just pray to the lord I don't get Salmonella or a tapeworm. Although I was not worried about getting sick, for $20 I expected a lot more than garb. So if that's not enough to steer you away, here is what was ordered between 5 of us. 1. Ocean City Sandwich (scratch made Maryland blue crab cakes, creole aioli, tomato and lettuce) with a side of Banh Mi Fries. First of all, who orders a crab sando at a burger place?? Our bearded buddy did, so I can't blame Broderick completely for this. Don't go to a steakhouse and order fish. The Banh Mi Fries were a $6 upgrade! Yes the cost of two In-N-Out cheeseburgers. So the fries were topped with slow roasted pork, pickled daikon and carrots, jalapenos and a Vietnamese style citrus-caramel sauce. This was Broderick's way of getting into the fusion market. And although $10 fries is a joke in Walnut Creek or Saigon, these fries were the best part of anyone's meal. The pickled veggies and jalapenos gave it a nice crisp refreshing flavor and the roasted pork, however, on the dry side was adequate when paired with citrus-caramel sauce. The fries itself were not the greatest, and were on the greasy side, think McDonald's fries under a heat lamp about a day too long. This applies to all fries ordered. The crab cakes were made from scratch tho, which is meaningless if it does not taste good. They may want to go scratch less on the cakes in the future. 2. Unidentified burger with Bahn Mi Fries. One friend ordered a burger with bacon and onion crisps and what appears to be blue cheese, I am thinking it was the True Blue Burger. Either way, I did not try it, because it was scarfed down with impunity. Friend said it was meh. 3. Lamb Burger with roasted tomato, goat cheese, garlic aioli and red onion with a side of gravy fries. I did not get to taste this either due to someone's selfishness but he was also unimpressed by the burg. I did taste the gravy fries and they were disgusting at best. The gravy had a peculiar taste that I could not place, it was like a thick, overly vinegary au jus with just a touch of rancidity. 4. Chili Cheese Fries. This was a brilliant move by the patron, as he heard the burgers were not good. Not good, one thing, not edible another. Unfortunately he found out the CC fries were on par with the burgers. 5. Wild Boar Burger with mushroom, Gorgonzola cheese fries. As one of my friends pointed out, are there domesticated boars?? To be discussed at a later date. It came with an apple butter sauce, which was way too sweet, crispy onion rings, apple wood smoked bacon and a fried egg. It was a hot mess to eat. The boar meat itself was ok, but all the fixings did not make for a good combo. 6. Shakes:Salted Caramel & Voodoo Cookie. The waitress was great and split the shakes among the 5 of us.Voodoo cookie with cayenne and ginger was unique and had a nice kick of spice and chunks of cookie matter. The salted caramel was just so-so to me. I felt the shakes were a little too thin but they definitely out shined the burger and fries. So that's my take. Service is excellent! But Broderick is like the new youg GF or mistress who is fresh, exciting and limber but turns out to be a gold digger. You'd be better off with that old hag at home of 27 years, whose a dead fish but always has your back. In its 27 years of operation, I think I made to Hubcaps once. It was most likely after a week long bender, 2AM shot, stumbling in from Mr. Lucky's working on a brown out, so don't remember a thing I ate. That being said, boy do I miss Hubcaps! Came here on a Saturday night with some friends who heard great feedback from their friends. I was against coming here because of 1) the prices and 2) I'm not a huge fan of gourmet burgers because they're not usually worth the price. By recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the Bison Burger with a side of fries. I love bison - I've eaten it plenty of times and this time, it was "eh". Literally "eh". This was a good burger, but I can't really tell its bison, it tastes like it could be any other meat patty to me. I asked for the patty to be cooked medium rare and it was cooked to that, so I'll give the kitchen that. Overwise, there was nothing that stood out in this burger that made it worth $16.00. I could make this at home myself and it would taste just as good. Fries were good - as any plate of fries should be. I tried my friend's lamb burger and again, good but nothing really sticks out - just a burger. I stopped by here on a Sunday for a drink and potentially eat brunch. Since I already had breakfast, and I ordered one of their IPA, I figure I probably won't be able to finish it. I saw the portions of their breakfast and brunch and it's definitely a generous portion. I love the decor, the vibe, and a good solid options for beer. I was very tempted to try their bloody mary but since I get kind of red sometimes when I drink something spicy, I decided not to because I had a meeting in an hour. The bartender was awesome and recommended a few beer to try. Kept the interaction but not too much where there's a pressure to order more drinks or food. Sometimes I take awhile to finish a beer. I noticed all the customers were being attended, and happy. There is a pretty long wait if you're coming on Sunday though so I would come early! I'll definitely come back and try their Country Fried Steak for brunch next time if I'm in the area. They also have a very very great selection of different burgers. read more
