Middle of the road. We went yesterday. The staff was attentive and helpful, but we were disappointed with the food. I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was supposed to have cabbage salad on it. When it wasn't immediately noticeable, I removed the bun and there was a few pieces of cabbage. For me the cabbage salad can make or break the sandwich. My husband got the Pozole, which was a daily special, and the bowl was tiny for $11.95. He didn't care for it and went back to order more food. He got the Fish Tacos, which were just ok. read more

Went on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 and it was pretty busy. I've been dying to find a good BBQ place in Sac and with them being open a month, we finally gave it a try. The place was clean and the service was excellent. We ordered the smoke-house platter, which comes with 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/2 lb pulled pork, 1/2 lb tri tip and two smokes sausages with you choice of two sides. We chose waffle fries and steak chili. Our favorite was the pork ribs. Fall off the bone tender with good flavor. I'm not a pulled pork fan, but this was tasty. Smoked sausages were good too, not spicy. The tri tip flavor and texture was good, but it wasn't served warm. The spicy BBQ sauce had some zing to it, but I prefer original. Waffle fries were excellent and so was the steak chili (a little on the spicy side). Everyone's spice tolerance is different, so you'll have to see for yourself. Sadly, they already ran out of the dino rib and beef ribs for the day, so if you want to try it, you better get there when it opens at noon. Will be back because it was good we are carnivores. our first visit started with Me -"Katherine, I have a problem" Katherine - "What is it?" Me - "I don't smell food." Yes, contrary to their social media post of being open, there was no one inside except a few children playing in their iPads and the people working outside didn't stop us. Instead, they lied to us on the way out and told us the post was incorrect and they will be open tomorrow. That didn't happen either, finally opening a week later. Once with finally made it while they were open for business it was beyond awkward. Doors locked with a sign to use other door (pointing to our left) but employees inside pointed to our right. I was ready ti leave and never come back, this place was a soup sammich. We stayed and figured it out, you go to the bar, far north door. Ordering was a task too, with many apologies from staff taking our order. After placing our order it was back outside to the door furthers south of the building. Kinda tight seating arrangements we finally got seated. Our food came out with a couple prepackaged plasticware and no extra napkins. I went to the kitchen pass to finds many employees standing around while none were on the dinning room floor. There was one person ahead of me for help, after he was helped they all looked down on the floor, I finally waved my hand and said "HELLO". A few of them looked up and I asked for napkins. You would have thought bbq (bbq, hands on food) would come with more than the chintzy little napkin in the packet. Finally we got to eat. After all the headaches of ordering, I must say the ribs were top notch. Great smoke ring and fantastic flavor. The chicken was full of flavor and still moist and tender. The serving of cornbread consisted of two large piece that were absolutely delicious. The greens was a bit of a disappointment as the container was barely half full and lacked flavor. The manager, Stefanie came over and introduced herself and was very receptive to our comments. She also offer for us the sample a Berry Smashed drink and ice tea, both were great. During our dinning there was a two guys who sat across from us, one kept staring at us and the other asked us a few questions about the food, acting like he was the owner or partner. Stefanie informed us he was not the owner. This made dining here even more awkward as he spoke as he represented the business and even wore a Brody's cap. They have good drink specials pretty much all day if you order from the bar including $5 a good selection of draft beers and other cocktails. Tried this spot for the first time. As a big BBQ fan, I generally temper my expectations for most CA BBQ places. However, I was pleasantly surprised. They were out of tri tip, and all ribs when we got there at 7:30 on a Friday. That matches my experience with other BBQ places, but worth knowing in case you really want the Dino rib. We ordered the pulled pork, half chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese and corn bread. Pulled Pork: Comes in what I'm presuming is their mop sauce. A little sweet, a little tangy. Good smoke flavor and good amount of bark mixed in. Very clean smoke flavor, guessing they are cooking with Oak or Pecan. Half Chicken: Really impressed. Great flavor with the rub, and crispy bite through skin. Have not found a place around here that doesn't serve chicken sauced with soft skin. Really enjoyed this. Collard Greens: A little underwhelming at first bite, but then got down into the juices at the bottom of the cup and got some good flavor. Mac and Cheese: Solid, didn't eat much of this because my wife ate it. Cornbread: Really good cornbread. On the sweeter side. Overall, it's a pretty solid BBQ spot which is more than I can usually hope for in the Sac area. Really want to come back again for their dino ribs. It's pretty new so they still need to work out the kinks. We went here to get a full rack of pork ribs. The website says the BBQ is available after 2pm so we went in at 3:40pm. The problem is that the ribs were already sold out! OMG! We ended up getting the Jacob's burger with waffle fries that I was told was really tasty. We also ordered the Dino rib. The Dino rib was very good but my complaint is that half the rib was all fat. For $52.00 I expected more considering it was as much as a Ribeye steak. I also had the Soju mangonada it was pretty good but weak on the soju. I love soju but I couldn't taste it in the drink. I will go back in a few months and hope they have pork ribs available to try them out. Also the way it works here is you order and they bring out your food.
