My table had onion rings (very good), a chicken tender basket (the tenders were GREAT, fries... not so much) and a mushroom Swiss burger with zucchini fries (very good). The wait was a little long and service was slow, but pleasant enough. You can catch glimpses of the sunset it you are there at the right time, or I would recommend planning to eat before or after watching the breathtaking sunset! Out of all the years I've been coming to St. Simons I've never been to Brogen's. We were going to go to Sandcastle across the parking lot for breakfast but got their a little bit late after they stopped serving breakfast and scoped out Brogen's. We were always apprehensive because it always looked so crowded but this time was a sure bet, and I'm so glad we did. The food is amazing! The service is stellar! They have got to have the best Brunswick stew I've ever had outside of my Aunt's kitchen. It was rich, meaty, and delicious. It was so delicious that my Mom after tasting it wanted her own, and it better be good since it is being served in an area of the country where Brunswick stew originates. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, and they were amazing, serviced with a delicious spicy ranch dipping sauce. It was so good! I had the shrimp basket and they are so juicy and plump that it is almost too hard to fit one inside of your mouth. The place soon became crowded after we were seated and started to dine, and now I know why. It's a new island fave for me and the fam, and we will certainly be returning on subsequent St. Simons vacations and visits. Bravo! My husband ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, and I ordered a shrimp basket. Both dishes are tasty. The hush puppies that came with my basket are my only complaint: very small. Our waiter has been attentive (and super busy). The music is really loud, but it fits with the casual, hip atmosphere. The average cost of the meal is about $11. I would definitely eat here again, and I do recommend it to anyone passing through Saint Simon. read more

We stopped for lunch on a Monday and were very happy with our choice. We were seated on the upper balcony and had nice water views. Service was awesome because all the servers help each other. More restaurants should take this approach. The Bloody Mary was very good and the menu offered a wide variety of items. I opted for the turkey Reuben with steak fries. The sandwich came in a timely manner, not too soon, not too late. The food was hot and presentation was nice. The ratio of turkey to sauerkraut to dressing was perfect and the bread was fresh. The steak fries aren't what I would call steak fries, but more like seasoned fries, but they were good and hot. Did I mention the service was good? Overall, this was a cool spot to have a quick bite. Visited with my family while in town and enjoyed the food very much. We went for a walk along the pier after which was a lot of fun and a nice touch after having a tasty lunch. Food: We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes and Hushpuppies for appetizers. Service: We visited in the middle of the day and were able to self sit our party of 6 immediately. There were no issues with the service and received our food in a reasonable time. Very nice seaside fish shack. Right next to a public parking lot, and just a short stroll from the lighthouse and the pier. We started with tasty loaded potatoes skins. Then Laurie had the house salad with grilled chicken, and I had the catch of the day fresh fish sandwich. A large slab of blackened red fish on a roll with fries. It was so very good. I had a phenomenal experience here today. Because of COVID, I sat outside on the upper patio, and there was an excellent view of the ocean and pier. Also, all of the employees were wearing masks. The hostess and waitresses were all super friendly as well. I enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes with Jalapeño Ranch as an appetizer. I shared my Mushroom Swiss burger with a friend, and we were glad to have shared, because it was HUGE! It was phenomenal, though. We agreed that this was the best burger either of us had ever had. One of my favorite spots on earth is sitting on the 2nd-floor balcony at Brogans South while I am sipping a Sweetwater 420. That balcony has provided so many "life is good" moments as I was looking out over the pier and ocean. Brogans features a "no-surprises" pub/comfort food menu at reasonable prices and large portions. After dozens of visits, I have always been happy and satisfied with my meal. Brogans knows its audience. Service staff are friendly yet efficient - tough job considering they are lugging food and drinks up a flight of stairs. Special kudos to Tara who retrieved a pair of left sunglasses a few weeks ago. A visit to Brogans is a perfect way to end a visit to the village. It is also the perfect place to hang out while your companions want to waste the afternoon in the village shops. read more

My cousin and I stopped in here Saturday night and they were busy! But we were able to sit at the bar on the top deck out front that overlooks the park and water. We brought my cousins dog and they were MORE than accommodating, even bringing him a bowl of water. The prices on the food are more than fair and they came out quick and super hot! One thing that was a very very very slight problem, not even a big deal because we were not in a hurry, but we had to ask twice to get 2 extra items we asked for (a side Caesar salad and a to-go box). It was hard to know which employee was our server because LITERALLY ALL OF THE STAFF kept asking if we needed anything when they would walk by. So that made up for the having to ask twice for items. I know this place has been there a while. I'm sure the legacy brings people back. Hopefully that will carry this place because the hostess and the wait staff were the absolute worst of any dining experience we've had on our vacation. The blonde headed hostess seemed put out with us from the moment we walked up to her and asked how long the wait might be. Throughout the ordering and meal we were waited on (rarely) by about 4 different waitresses. They all seemed like it was an inconvenience for them to have to wait on us. All I can hope is that someone at this restaurant can help them understand that having a job, and getting paid, is a service when you work at a restaurant. I reminded them of that with my 10% tip. Btw- the ice cream down the street was much better and the people who worked there were happy we decided to spend some money there! My recommendation- skip Brogens. We won't be going back. read more

Have been coming here for years during the UGA/UF football game. Since we've moved here and we came to take a look at the shipwreck.... There was a car carrier that capsized in the harbor and they're salvaging it now. We came to gawk at that and across the street was Brogen's It was AMAZING to walk in and not bump into someone wherever you turned. We sat down and the server came over got our drink order kept the glasses filled by the way and we proceeded to order. A rare bacon cheddar burger with well done fries and an order of potato skins. Everything was great! The burger had been chargrilled and cooked perfectly, the fries and potato skins were very good as well. he total for everything was around $20.00 and well worth the price. Walked the park and the pier, saw this spot and stopped in for a drink. I'm a tequila fan mostly so I ordered a margarita that is not sweet. I was not only pleasantly surprised by the drink but the price. $5 margaritas for happy hour are always a good idea to me. The young bartender did a good job with my margarita, because I am not a fan if sweet drinks. Mistake toe market is right outside during the Christmas season. Very friendly staff. I REALLY wanted to like this place. There's a nice very of the pier, it's the closest restaurant to the water, a nice area for bands to play... but the restaurant inside was dirty, the bathrooms were old and outdated. My bar drink had thick black hair in it. I ordered soup which never came. I ordered my burger medium and it came with no pink at all. We waited over an hour to eat and I was reallly disappointed. I think we saw our server 2 times during the whole experience. Our drinks went empty multiple times. I won't be back. read more

I was at Brogen's last night with 9 of my friends. Most of had left to get back to the house but one of our friends who stayed until closing was brutally assaulted by a group of guys and Brogen's security just watched as they pounded his face in. I noticed a large group (around 20 to 30) of 15-17 year old age guys loitering outside of the bar as we left around 12:30AM but I assumed they were harmless. As our friend was walking outside of the bar he began talking to one of them and a group of 12-15 of them started attacking him. They held his hands behind his back and repeatedly punched him in the face and kicked him in the ribs as well as face. Eventually one of our other friends who had stayed saw it going on and went to defend him and stop it from escalating. There was blood all over our friend from head to toe by the time the beating was put to a stop. Aside from allowed these kids to loiter outside the bar, 3 Brogen's employees sat there and watched the whole thing unfold as if nothing was happening and it was completely normal. You're probably assuming he did something to provoke this type of behavior but there was absolutely no communication between my friend and these high school kids the entire night. It was completely random and unprovoked. I would suggest avoiding this place. read more

My wife and I visited for lunch, there was steady traffic and a small wait line so, I wanted to see if that was any indication that they were serving up good food and atmosphere. Upon arrival we waited a short time for the hostess (they were busy) we had a short wait for our table, once seated our waitress arrived... she was nice however rushed through the drink order and appeared impatient nevertheless we ordered the Shrimp Basket and the Ruben Sandwich with Onion Rings. The food arrived to the table hot and fresh, the Ruben sandwich was exceptional, I really enjoyed it. The shrimp basket had some large shrimps and were really good also, they have a large dining area and a full service bar. Flat screen TV surround the restaurant, a great place to grab a beer and a game. This establishment is worthy of a better rating however customer service is very important and guess should never feel to be rushed or left unattended for spans of time. read more
