I drink whiskey on the rocks and they charged me 2 bucks extra for a glass of ice. 2 bucks won't kill me, but... WTF? It's been here forever. The last time I was here, I was in my early 20's many years ago and way before Yelp. As I walked in, the memories came flooding back. We played so many games on that old shuffle board table. Beer was cold and the food was good. I had a great burger. It was perfectly cooked and moist. Yes I said moist. Good service. Without a doubt, the best steak fries on the island. Consistently well cooked, just the right amount of crunch and potato goodness that keeps me coming back or more. Their local blackened fish sammich is also not to be missed. The week I was there, I think I had that entrée (with local redfish) most every night it was so fresh and delicious. We have been to Brogen's many times and it has been good but tonight was a huge disappointment. I ordered the shrimp salad and when it arrived 30 minutes later, it looked like a side salad and the shrimp were unfortunately the only way to describe it were nasty and sour tasting. My wife's philly cheese steak was good but here onion rings were cold. My sister in laws grilled wings were burned. My daughters fish of the day (redfish) sandwich was good and my sons cheese burger got woofed down, but he is 9 and will eat almost anything. Waitress was pleasant and removed my saffron the bill but never really apologized for the food issues. We will have to think about returning in the future.. read more

Brogen's is a small bar located in the heart of downtown St. Simons. It's in a great location because it faces the pier. We stopped by on a Friday night and the bar was packed. This is a popular local spot. The bar has two levels, but we only hung out on the first level. The first level has a bar, a small room with arcade games, several TVs, and shuffleboard. The shuffleboard table was in bad condition. Not only did it not have enough sand on it, but the table had lost all of its finish and had several rough patches. This made for some very unpredictable and not-as-fun shuffleboard. The bartenders were cool and the crowd was laid back and easy going for the most part. Overall, I had fun at Brogen's, mainly because of the company. It would be nice if there was more space and more games. I'm not sure if this is a non-smoking bar, but there was no smoke during our visit. I liked that, especially when compared to other nearby bars like Rafters, which is really smoky. read more

My first time at Brogen's. The draw was the menu and location. I imagine this place is always busy, it had that vibe. We waited for 27 minutes for a table. When we were finally seated, we ordered straight away to avoid another long wait for service. We both had the Blackened Mahi sandwich with chips and Arnold Palmers. The food is good. The portion of Mahi was the largest I've had on a sandwich, and it was tasty. The chips- average. Drinks- average. Definitely a solid value. Cons- the restaurant is dated and the service very disorganized. We were there far longer than expected or desired. read more

We had fun here on Saint Patrick's day with our kids. Nice outdoor seating with views, live music, decent fare. We tried the fried pickles (some of the best I've ever had), mozzarella sticks and spinach dip. I would recommend if you are in town and looking for something laid back and local. read more

We were seated immediately, a delightful server greeted us in less than 30 seconds! She took our drink orders and they came in literally less than a minute!!! Delicious margaritas we ordered apps (highly recommend the fried pickle chips!!!) and ordered fresh fish sandwich (delicious) and a bacon and bleu burger. The servings are large, we could barely finish half of our entrees! ... I guess we did order a lot. Haha! Highly recommend this place. Top notch service, great food and a fun atmosphere! We've been twice to this place and both times we had great service and great food. The hostess and our waitress were both great. We got fries green tomatoes for an appetizer. Good portion. Hot. Came out fast. Delicious. The four of us ordered four different meals and none of us had a complaint. Here's what we ordered - 1) Regular hamburger with slaw. 2) Fried shrimp basket with zucchini fries. 3) Shrimp Poboy with fries. 4) Kids chicken tender basket with chip. My 7 year old whom is a chicken tender/nugget expert said that they were some of the best she has had and that she really wanted to go back to this place. You get a good sized portion for a good price. This place is a must when on the island! read more

Went in for a couple drinks with a large group (10) and after being there a while we decided to get some food to snack on. Our waitress was on top of it and made sure our drinks got filled when we needed them and our food was brought out quick and it was hot and fresh. We ordered a few of their appetizers and each had a few bites of the different ones we ordered. The fried pickles were Amazing! The only reason for the four stars is the potato skins were ordered were very bland and burnt. If you decided to check it out do yourself a favor and get the fried pickles! read more

The waitress from the moment we walked in acted like our party of 6 was a burden and she had better people to deal with so we decided to order a few appetizers and decided to eat our meal elsewhere because of this. Didnt have much of a view of the pier since it was dark but they had some live bands performing out front. I ordered the burger, it wasn't bad, but didn't think anything special about it. It's dark and the beer is icy cold. Located by the pier in the village this watering hole has a solid beer selection and a right fair chili dog. Many other sandwiches on the menu but it's mostly bar food. Parking can be a challenge even with a large parking lot out front. Service is lackadaisical but adequate. read more

If you can actually get ahold of someone when you call you are doing well. The food was burnt. This was a to-go order and they forgot $20 worth of food. So I called, no answer. I waited a few hours and called again. I told the women we did not get everything and she said let me get my manager. I thought it was weird Bc it was so simple. He got on the phone and said sorry our systems are so old we can't give you money back, If you want to come and get the items we forgot you can. The trend on SSI is great southern hospitality from the adult workers - but very poor service (and crabby attitudes) from the 18-25ish workers. A very clear millennial divide. read more

Went here for a drink and the upstairs view. I only gave 3 stars because I only came for a drink and didn't try any of the food. It was a very simple drink but they made it just right. Took my glass and went up stairs to watch the sunset. view was pretty nice looking out towards the pier and got to watch a few large ships coming in.
