Grouper Sandwich, Firecracker Shrimp, House salad

Great experience! Service did take a little while but the live music helped the time pass. When food arrived it was amazing. I think the grouper could have had a bit more flavor (the provided sauce helped compensate for this), but otherwise there is not much to complain about. The other food items were amazing and our plates were licked clean.

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and decadent Surf and Turf burger. It was topped with a beautiful seafood blend of unctuousness that complimented the beef patty. We ordered it medium rare and it was a bit over but was still juicy. We also had the Grouper sandwich prepared blackened. The sandwich was also very good and the fish was cooked to perfection but it needed more seasoning--we added a kick of hot sauce to spice it up a bit. We sat outdoors to enjoy the beautiful view and it was also heated and dog friendly. Service was friendly and attentive.

Five Stars -- Three Thumbs Up! We spontaneously walked into Broken Keel on New Year's Eve, and honestly, it turned into one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. From the moment we walked in, we were seated in rockstar seating right next to the band, which instantly set the tone for an unforgettable night. The live music, the energy, the crowd -- everything was absolutely spot on. Our server Xannah was nothing short of AMAZING. Truly some of the best service we've ever received anywhere. She took care of us all night long, never missed a beat, and treated us like family. Friendly, attentive, fun, and genuinely awesome -- she made the entire experience next-level. The food was great, the atmosphere was electric, and the people were fantastic. We stayed all the way until midnight, ringing in the New Year and watching the fireworks -- it couldn't have been more perfect. If you're anywhere near Savannah, do not miss Broken Keel. Highly recommend -- 5 stars, 3 thumbs up, and we'll absolutely be back!

Ate here several times while staying upstairs, and each time we tried something different and really enjoyed everything. My husband really liked the oatmeal for breakfast, as it featured fresh fruit. We both loved the cheeseburgers --cooked to perfection and juicy. Staff were very friendly and very nice; great view of the river if you eat outside. We'd definitely go back!

A decent cocktail stop with patio seats overlooking the river. We heard the music and went upstairs. Service was a bit awkward as we weren't sure who to flag down for an order as any servers seemed like they were avoiding us instead of finding us a seat and menu etc. We got it worked out. Drinks were satisfying. CritDicks

First time in Savannah. Staying at River Street Inn. This seafood place is located in the hotel. It definitely achieves the nautical theme with ease. Very pleasant if not a little noisy for my taste. Extremely large portions. The bisque was excellent. Service was decent.

Came for breakfast and thought everything was just mediocre. The omelette also had a ton of oil -- which wasn't ideal given I ordered it to be on the healthier side. I'd also stay away from the coffee which tasted just like grounds and water had been sitting in a pot for a few days. The food also takes a long time to come out so be prepared to wait a bit. The positive was our server was very nice.

Monday night on river street in historic district Savannah. This great bar is on the Second floor patio overlooking the river. The martini was ginormous and I could only handle one but it was super good. The strawberry frozen margarita was very tasty. Raw oysters were good but tiny, but the Firecracker Shrimp made the night. It was sooo good, you have to try it!! And the servers were so sweet. They were so nice to allow us to bring Lexi along and even brought her water. Really, Savannah is such a dog friendly place, it makes my heart happy. I highly recommend a visit here.

We had an ok experience at Broken Keel. It started out good and then somehow our order got lost in the kitchen or it was never entered into the system. Our server let us know and we were playing a game so we didn't really notice how long it was taking for our food to come out. Once he told us it still took almost another 30 minutes. During our visit it rained multiple times and the weather started to cool off. We asked for the heaters (above our heads) to be turned on and the manager offered to turn them on and bring us blankets. We waited and waited and had to ask again for this to actually happen. We also asked for something to munch on since our food was taking so long. They brought chips and salsa which was great but in our opinion that should have come as soon as they realized our order was lost. Once our food arrived we enjoyed it but we were so ready to leave and our stay just kept getting drawn out. We had to track down our server to get our check and we got 10% off our bill. We felt like that was pretty measly considering what happened. We ended up being at the restaurant for almost three hours. The atmosphere is great and the food was good but unfortunately our experience wasn't the best. We'll probably skip it next time we're in town.

We decided to do a walk in and was quickly seated at the bar which has the full menu. The location is great and it's within walking distance of a lot of the other shops, restaurants, and bars. The building is really beautiful and has so much history. Downstairs has a cool dark and gloomy old vault with a full bar, has individual rooms, and there was a piano player and singer while we were there. The atmosphere was definitely my favorite part. The drinks at the downstairs bar were just okay. I ordered the Pink Lady and thought it tasted a little watered down. The food was delicious but portions are a little small. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was an appetizer, along with the crab cake and fried green tomatoes. Those two filled me up. The shrimp and grits came with five shrimp, but they were tasty. The crab cake was also really good, while the fried green tomatoes were okay. My coworker ordered the chicken pot pie and really enjoyed it. Our server was incredibly friendly and personable, and we really enjoyed talking with him. The manager also came by and chatted with us and told us the story behind why it's called the olde Pink House. Overall, the food was good, the service was exceptional, and the history and decor make this place worth visiting. Even if you can't get a reservation, I'd still recommend stopping by as a walk in at the bar area or checking it out the downstairs Tavern bar area.

Writing this review for those travelers that LOVE food and dislike tourtist traps…read more The Olde Pink House was definitely our most disappointing meal in Savannah. With so many genuinely great restaurants in this city, I do regret wasting one of our dinners here, as we are huge foodies and make it an integral part of our travels. The food wasn't bad exactly--it was just thoroughly mediocre, dated, and everything had such heavy preparations. Nothing was particularly wrong, but nothing was particularly good either. It felt like a restaurant coasting on its reputation, historic setting, and steady stream of tourists rather than a kitchen trying to compete with Savannah's much more interesting food scene. The service was also very awkward and medicre. Our food took forever to arrive (it was 50 minutes after we were seated before we even received a wedge salad) yet the waitstaff seemed almost obsessively focused on checking back with us while we were still sitting there without any food. We were seated in an extremely dark upstairs room that felt more like a former attic or hayloft than someplace you'd choose to have dinner. I understand that the historic building is part of the attraction, but our particular room had very little atmosphere beyond being dark. Overall, this felt like a classic tourist trap: famous, heavily recommended, and ultimately underwhelming. Savannah has far too many excellent restaurants to settle for an expensive, outdated meal simply because the building is pink and historic. I'd definitely pass. Side note: Brochu's was one of our favs. Modern, delcious, buzzy vibe.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.

Looking back, we probably should've kept right on walking. We ordered the fried chicken, potato wedges, red rice, New Orleans rice, and cabbage, jalapeno cornbread and pecan cornbread. Unfortunately, the only things we actually enjoyed were the fried chicken and the potato wedges. Once again, it was an epic fail. The cabbage tasted like it had been boiled in plain water with absolutely no seasoning. Both the red rice and the New Orleans rice reminded us of Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's microwavable rice--bland, lacking flavor, and nothing like the rich, seasoned rice dishes we were expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the potato wedges were cooked perfectly, but those two items weren't enough to save the meal. We came hoping for authentic Southern comfort food, but left disappointed. Sadly, this is one restaurant we won't be adding to our list of places to revisit.

The whole place is designed to feel like the inside of a trailer--spray-painted antique chandeliers, old pictures of different trailer parks, and random little details everywhere. It's kitschy, but very intentional, and honestly pretty cool. We came in late after a 4h drive into town after work, and the staff was still super friendly and accommodating. No "we're about to close" energy, which I appreciated. We started with the creamy collard dip, which is basically their take on spinach-artichoke dip, but with collards. Really good. I do think the chips were a little too heavy for the dip--a thinner chip would've been perfect--but that's a small note. The chicken pancake tacos were probably my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly and still really moist. And at this point, I'm convinced Savannah just knows how to cook chicken. Everywhere we went, the chicken was consistently good. My partner got the grilled apple pie sandwich, which has fried chicken, grilled apples and bacon. He's not even a big pork person, but that bacon was so crispy and the whole combination just worked. Even the waffle fries were good--crispy, fresh and actually seasoned. We had the Grateful Dead and Wicked Kiwi cocktails, plus a couple of shots, and the drinks were strong, good and reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't have a ton of notes here. It's not trying to be some elevated dining experience. It's just a really good late-night spot with good food, strong drinks, friendly service and a fun atmosphere. We sat inside because Savannah in August was not about to have us sitting on anybody's patio. Definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for somewhere to eat late. It was a vibe, the food was good, and it did exactly what it needed to do.

This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel.
