If you are a big fan of Disney Haunted Mansion this is the restaurant you will enjoy dining in. It's about 10 minutes away from Disneyland which made it a perfect spot to have lunch before visiting the park. Made a reservation for a Saturday and it wasn't packed at all was super nice located inside a house. We were seated upstairs where there were two hidden rooms you wouldn't know of. It was all well decorated with Disney history touched of different characters throughout the place. Loved the music being played felt like we were in a club. Made me want to get up and dance after we had lunch. Great vibes all around. As for food, we ordered the smoked brisket grilled chimi-cheese and the so banh mi baby sandwiches! They were both so yummy except the bread was super hard! Our server Jordy was amazing with exceptional service! Told him about the bread and he made it right for us. My girlfriend and I came on New Years Eve. We had made a reservation 2 weeks in advance through Resy. We had scheduled it for 8 pm, no problem and the order confirmation went through. However, we were heavily disappointed when we got to the front door and the waitress told us they close at 8 pm. I understand closing early for the new year but I am baffled that they couldn't be bothered to cancel the reservation before we had drive out. On top of that, the waitress was dismissive and didn't seem to care that we were there. It seemed as though she didn't want us there because it was 7:55 pm. Then after we left, we see that our reservation was canceled. Like wow what a slap to our face, we drove out for no reason and our new years plans are ruined. I've heard good things about this place but this just made me never want to try out this place. Do better. read more

The food was great and so were the drinks but the service.. needs improvement for sure. We had reservations at 7:15 and we got our first round of drinks around 7:30. We waited to order our food so long we finished our drinks and even finished our waters. We ordered around 8:04 and my food came out about 10 minutes later without silverware. We finally got silverware and I thanked our server and she didn't even acknowledge me (that went on the entire night). I could see my boyfriend's tacos just sitting under the heat lamp as we were at the table directly across from the kitchen. He didn't receive his tacos until 8:14 and one server who wasn't even our server came to check and see how we were doing. Multiple parties came up to the kitchen to pay because of the wait time for their checks. We waited until 8:40 until we finally had to ask for our check from a random server as we couldn't find ours and when we did see her she seemed to avoid eye contact. I truly felt as though they were upset we were there and we weren't welcome I understand we came on a Saturday however for our server to barely even acknowledge us as a person is horrible. This is the first time I've ever gotten such horrible service and it truly sucks because the drinks and food were great. I've been here once before and was super excited to take my partner, however, this was the worst experience for my birthday/valentines dinner date. We arrived at 5pm when it opened and while the server was great the entire experience was rough. We were told that they didn't have the filet mignon or sour cream, which we decided to work around. We ordered the broccolini, baked potato, brisket tacos and brisket pizza. Every one of our plates/ food items came out cold which super weird as we were the first party (they opened at 5) and only guests. I'm confused as how you don't notice that even the baked potato was cold! They took our food back to reheat and then another staff member came out to tell me that they didn't have any more baked potatoes, without an apology or anything. There was a severe lack of ownership, apology, or acknowledgement for the food literally being cold. The server did bring us out a shot to "make up for it" but the service and experience lacked. I shared this had ruined my birthday dinner and there was no acknowledgement. We left not even finishing our plates. Visited Broken Spirits on Halloween day! This spooky themed restaurant has some of the best haunted house decoration. We got warm brie + jam, pork belly tacos, and ube cheesecake to share. Their menu features a few cocktails for their Halloween special. I tried the pumpkin king (very strong). The brie made a good appetizer if you like something sweet and savory. The taco was pretty good too, but came a bit cold. They also gave us some gin on the house, so that was nice. The service was so friendly and attentive! Food was decent and prices were fair. Just a little context here. This home was in really poor shape and around COVID time, a brewery purchased the home and built the brewery next door. They used this location for their restaurant after extensive refurbishment, then when they sold, Villains took the brewery and this location opened in the house part. Something that is a considerable hinderance to both Broken Spirits and Villains is the parking situation, as their lot is super duper small and the areas around are neighborhoods, but parking is available nearby in structures and at the Packing House and it is close enough to walk to it or take FRAN, which is a free ride service around that part of Anaheim that you access through an app. The space has great ambience and is beautifully decorated, which is really worthy of praise, as it is intimate and inviting and looks like a great place for a date night. They played up the age of the home, which was fun, and we had great service. So those are the high points. However, the craft cocktails are not for me; they might be fantastic, but I didn't like them. I ordered the haunted mansion themed cocktail and my date ordered a different one, and neither of us liked our drinks. He even offered to switch with me after tasting mine as he agreed it was pretty awful but he felt he could tolerate it more than I could. In the end, I sent mine back after trying to balance it with food. The taste was incredibly strong and once my date said something about motor oil, that's all I got out of it. I know alcohol doesn't exactly taste good persay but I'm not a lightweight, nor am I new to craft cocktails as I've been to the Blind Rabbit when Robert owned it, and have a friend that does craft vintage cocktails. That drink was horrendous despite being a very pretty color of pink. We ordered a couple different sandwiches and they were very good but my tri tip sandwich had thick pieces in it which made it very difficult to eat as it was very chewy. I was trying to eat it politely but it was challenging. I did like their homemade potato chips. The other piece is we were next to a part of 6-8 people who were incredibly loud, and in that small space downstairs, it was really difficult to have a conversation because it's a house. Ya know? You're sitting right next to them and it being a house it doesn't have high ceilings to help dampen other people's conversations. Once they were gone, it was much nicer. Came here for my Birthday in August and decided to come back to celebrate my brother's birthday. Hands down the best experience I've had in a very long time. Our server Jasmine is an absolute gem! She has the best food and drink recommendations and just makes you feel like old friends hanging out. The food choices are 10/10 and taste amazing. I love the Banh me baby and the pizzas are always fantastic. The drinks are not only fabulously crafted but they are so unique and so cute. Took the kids for lunch to check out the really cool Disney Haunted Mansion decorations. The decor was great and we got to eat in a small private hidden room behind a moving bookcase. The food was delicious- Cobb salad, pizza, brisket sandwich w/ horseradish and baked potato were so good!! Great presentation too. My friend and I had a cocktail and those were great too. Our servers were wonderful and all around made for an enjoyable time with the kids. I made a reservation on Resy for 7pm. We showed up and there was no hostess to seat anyone. We waited around 15 mins and someone finally came out and had us sit in the patio. We waited another 15 mins and no one came to take our order or even offer menus. There were at least a dozen people waiting confused. I was excited to try but left after 30 mins of no one serving us. Had to check this cute little spot out after seeing it all over instagram. The service is amazing. Honestly, we were a little annoying. They seated us upstairs at first but it was under a vent and freezing so we asked to move. They moved us downstairs where we stayed for a while, but then we were so hot and sweating bc there wasn't any A/C down there (or we couldn't feel it where we were sitting), so we asked to move outside where we stayed the rest of our time there. Honestly, our waitress is so amazing for being so accommodating bc even we know that we were being too much. We each got a drink (I don't remember the names of them! But there is only one that lets you get the printed photo on top, so it's that one and then the one with mezcal). They were pretty strong. And then we ordered the mussels and the banh mi to split. Both were yummy! I took the short rib grilled cheese to go for my boyfriend and he loved that. I would definitely go back to try more. It's such a cute spot to even just go grab some drinks. This review had to wait for me to sit at a keyboard, because it deserves that level of work. Disclaimer: I will call out now that I was one of the very lucky winners of their free food for a year golden ticket, but at no point was there ever an expectation of a review in exchange for the ticket. And honestly? I love having places like this that are nearby and I would have given this review sans golden ticket. Small businesses work hard and that effort should be rewarded Venue: I attended Broken Spirits on their opening day (Saturday, July 20th), and it did not disappoint. The venue Broken Spirits is housed in is a gorgeous Craftsman style home renovated into a restaurant. It still has fantastic homey vibes, but with an elegant execution. The décor pays homage to Walt Disney's apartment is well done, especially for the Disney fans. (Side note, my husband and I guestimate the Disneyland map above the fireplace to be sometime in the late 80's to early 90's based on the attractions listed and it is in pristine condition) You can really tell the employees that work there are passionate about what they are creating. There is outdoor seating on the patio out front, and downstairs lounge area, and a larger seating area upstairs with the potential for renting out various "hidden" rooms behind bookshelves. Very very cool. Parking: Any venue within the greater Packing District area is going to be subject to potential parking struggles. The venue does have a small parking lot with some handicap spots. Depending on where you park offsite, pay attention to parking street signs as there are street sweeping days as well as residential permit only parking zones. There are parking garages on Center Street which is a reasonable walk (maybe a half mile?), but you'll have to pay for those and only businesses on Center Street give validation for those lots. Service: The service was phenomenal. I feel like opening day for many restaurants can either be fantastic or riddled with problems. I believe they had a soft opening leading up to the grand opening, and that effort showed. We were assisted by Jasmine, David, and Jordi (apologies if I spelled them wrong!) as we were seated in the downstairs lounge area. We were checked on regularly and food and drink were served in a timely manner. We also spent a good amount of time chatting with Eric, learning more about the motivation behind the restaurant, getting some history and insight into the menu, and also being very jealous of his Club 33 hat (iykyk). I can't wait to become a regular at this establishment. Drinks: Probably the most important part, given this is a distillery tasting room! Between my husband and I, we tried Ghost Host, Popcorn Pick Me Up, It's A Small World Aperol, Tragic Kingdom, and the off menu Churro Old Fashion. I took photos of all of them but the Popcorn Pick Me Up. - Ghost Host: I loved this, my husband not so much. He's not a big fan of elderflower or hibiscus anything but we were determine to do our due diligence. Personally, I think the cocktail was really balanced and unique - the smokiness of the mezcal went really well with the elderflower and hibiscus. The presentation was also cool as it came with a tarot card. - Popcorn Pick Me Up: This drink is essentially an espresso martini but with tequila and I am here for it. It also comes with a garnish and small side of caramel popcorn with pairs nicely with the drink. Flavors play very nicely together and it's very smooth. A dangerous drink, and I mean that in the best way possible. - It's A Small World Aperol: Gin drinks can be hit or miss considering how forward gin flavors can be. Not a problem with this drink, at least in my opinion. First off, the presentation of printing the very recognizable outline of It's A Small World on top of a rum Dole Whip foam. My husband really dislikes gin and Aperol, but he definitely tried to steal the foam from my drink. It was so tasty and very reminiscent of the Disney Dole Whips. This drink was fairly fruity without being overly sugary. - Tragic Kingdom: A very nice homage to the OC OGs No Doubt. This was my husbands drink as I really dislike banana flavored anything, however the banana flavor came off very mild and I was a little disappointed I didn't order one for myself. It is garnished with a toasted banana slice. Very nice rum drink without being overly sweet. - Churro Old Fashion: While the Churro flavor is mild, it honestly makes for one of the best Old Fashions I've ever had. It's smoked with a gorgeous skull smoker, very Indiana Jones feeling. It has a touch of sweet to balance the bite. My husband had two of these, they are that good. Food: I am running out of space, but the food we tried was so delicious and I can't wait to try more - will update future review with more food info. Also worth calling out they have "Buy Juan Get Juan Free" Happy Hour. 2-6pm M-F and 9pm-close daily. read more

Super fun place for dinner or drinks! We came in January and it still had a good amount of really cute and vintage Disney stuff - for you Disney fans, but note that Halloween time is super decked out in haunted mansion theme and Christmas is all nightmare before Christmas theme. Definitely coming back at the end of this year to check those out! Before I review our meal my favorite part of the experience (besides the ambiance) was my drink! I got the ghost host which is a mezcal based drink and ooooooh my tastebuds were just delighted! Nice strong drink and perfectly balanced. I ended up getting a second because it was just THAT good. For an appetizer we got the Brie - it had a type of chutney on it and I forget the flavor but it was delicious and had a great spicy kick to it too! Definitely 9/10 dish. The only reason I wouldn't give it a perfect 10 is I thought it should have came with more crostinis for dipping. To be fair, I didn't ask for more, but it didn't come with many at all. We got the three tri tip tacos - Santa Maria - they were delicious 9/10 for sure. I got a side of mac and cheese and a small salad as my meal. The friends I was with each god the 20oz ribeye. I didn't try the ribeye so I can't personally comment to it, but my friends both loved it and I looked and smelled good to me! The Mac and cheese was good - I was actually surprised by it. Most of the time Mac and cheese hurts my stomach because it's just too rich but this was very well balanced! The oooonly bummer was it came out a little less than lukewarm. The dish it was in was completely cold so I don't know if it hadn't been under the warmer or what but I'm sure it would have been even better warm. I gotta give it only a 6/10 since it was almost downright cold. It probably would have been a 9 or 10/10 based off of the flavor and balance. The salad was good - nothing mind blowing but a solid side salad, I have to give it a 10/10 because it was exactly what I was expecting. The only downside to our whole night was the service was just a little...off. Our server was very very nice but there were a few hiccups. The first was we ordered our main dishes and all of us got a baked potato and it was about 15-20 mins later that she came back and told us they didn't have any baked potatoes. It was just a really long amount of time. Plus, I would have definitely gotten something else had I known that (instead of subbing in a Mac and cheese with my expected salad). The other hiccup was my friend ordered Diet Coke and then again the server came back about 10 minutes later to tell us there was no Diet Coke. Now, I don't know if it ran out or broke or they just never had it period, again it was just an oddly long amount of time to pass with the news. At the very very end of our meal she made a little bit of small talk with us - just a comment about if we had anything else fun planned for the night, which we answered, but she turned her head away and was looking at something then just turned back and kind of gave us an awkward smile and left haha. That kind of thing doesn't upset me - I think she was trying and just got distracted - but I'm just mentioning it because it definitely played in with her whole vibe. I don't want to add on a negative slope - we truly had a wonderful time and we are absolutely coming back! Whole experience was 8.5/10 - we loved it!!! read more

Nestled in front of villains brewing broken spirits has finally arrived. Came here the second week they opened and I was so happy we were to experience it before. We were greeted with shots, kinda like a Mexican candy shot and it was great. We ordered the steak skirt chimichurri, side of Brussel sprouts, mac and cheese and of course a few cocktails. All were great. Steak cooked the way we wanted and the Brussel sprouts were sooo yummy with the vinaigrette. The wedge salad was great too. Prices are good too, not like the 1921 craftsman it was a year ago. Easy to get a table, however parking may be tricky.
