We went there for breakfast today. We ordered the No name omelet and the Sweet trio. The omelet was good but was nothing special. The home fries that it came with were delicious. I really enjoyed the sweet trio which is French toast with fruit. The service was excellent. One thing that was unusual was that at the end of our meal we got a bill for both items. I then gave our waitress our credit card and the credit card bill that was brought to our table to sign was more expensive than the original bill we received. I brought this to our waitress attention and she found out they accidentally charged us for an additional item(acai bowl) that we did not order. If I have not been paying attention I would have paid for an item we did not order. Our waitress brought this to the manager's attention but the manager never said anything to us. Super good and worth it! I love the chiliquiles at the broken yolk next to Knotts berry farm more, but the Benedict's were better here. They have the option where you chose one different Benedict and you get the other one for half off. So that was nice on the bill. I'm super full and happy. And so was my friend. Good thing I came by 9 o'clock and got on the waitlist because as soon as my name was called that waitlist got 10 times bigger!!! And that was in a span of 15 min. I stopped in this Saturday morning around 9:50am for a solo breakfast. They were busy, but I was seated within about 10-15 minutes, which I appreciated. The hostess was friendly and my waitress was kind as well. I ordered the 2 Eggs Plus (over medium, hashbrowns, sourdough) and also placed a Breakfast Croissant with hashbrowns to-go at the same time since I was on a bit of a time crunch and needed to drop food off for my boyfriend. My dine-in meal came out in about 15 minutes, but my eggs were served scrambled instead of over medium. Because I was in a rush, I didn't mention it when my server checked back -- I just ate it as-is. Not sure if that was a kitchen mistake or miscommunication. The bigger issue came when I went to pay. I had to flag down another staff member to close out, and that's when I found out my to-go order hadn't been sent in. My waitress had decided to hold it so it "wouldn't come out too early," and said it would need to be placed on a separate tab. While I understand the intention behind that -- I'm a waitress myself -- I do think that's something that should be communicated first. A quick "Would you like me to put that in now or later so it doesn't sit?" would have solved the issue. Instead, I had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes during peak Saturday rush when I was already short on time. As for the food, it was okay but nothing memorable. The scrambled eggs were slightly dry, the hashbrowns were soft rather than crispy, and the sourdough was standard toast. My boyfriend did enjoy the Breakfast Croissant and liked the chipotle mayo, though he agreed about the hashbrowns. Overall, the staff was friendly and I can appreciate how busy they were, but the miscommunication and food quality left it feeling more like a typical breakfast chain experience than something standout. read more

I was in town briefly for a conference and was starving after my flight landed so I made my way towards the hotel to find something yummy to eat. It was a little too early for lunch, and Broken Yolk popped up on a quick Yelp search. It was open, close to my hotel, and in a big strip mall/shopping center that I could walk around to stretch my legs after sitting on a plane while I waited for a table. I checked in, was asked for my phone number, and proceeded to hang out for the 25 or so minutes until my table was ready. It was pretty busy when I was seated; lots of families and large parties enjoying brunch together and staff hustling about. The menu is pretty extensive, but offers all the classic dishes you'd imagine at similar restaurants. The gentleman helping me out was presumably busy, but gave off the impression he was in a huge hurry and almost walked off before I had gotten a sentence out; I opted for a simple egg breakfast that came with hash browns, your choice of meat, and side of toast/English muffin. I chose over medium eggs with bacon and an English muffin. Paired with some fresh coffee, it hit the spot. It took a while for the meal to come out, but the dish was steaming hot and everything tasted great. Since I was alone, it didn't take me too long to finish and ask for the check. It took probably a good 40 minutes between the time I was done and when I got up to leave, though. Without getting too deep into the weeds, I kept getting the "one moment" finger lol, and then once I actually paid, my credit card was not returned... turns out it was misplaced and almost left the restaurant in someone else's wallet. Well, let me tell you about Broken Yolk. This place is awesome for breakfast and lunch! The plethora of items to choose from on the menu is really great. My Fiancé and I usually go Saturday mornings. Two of our favorite servers Edee and Crystal work at that time and their service is excellent. I really like the calorie conscious menu as well It's very helpful when trying to watch our calorie consumption . I find the staff at this restaurant to be friendly and informative considering how busy they were for a Sunday Brunch. I was especially impressed by the female hostess this morning who informed me that they get to try the food so they can recommend items on the menu. She had mentioned that the breakfast burrito was a large portion if you want something filling or the omelette was also a good choice. There were a lot of items that sounded good as well, so we went with the Monte Cristo sandwich and Hash Skillet - both were delicious. Our waitress was also sweet as well. The only down side is that wait was about 40 minutes, but fortunately the restaurant is near Marshalls and other stores so you can shop while you wait. First, I love this place. It's always a vibe with the soundtrack that plays at a perfect volume and TVs that aren't distracting. The food is always amazing and the service is fantastic. This place is amazing. We were in town for a Christmas party and I am a huge food lover so I am always on a mission to find the best. First of all, I love the fact that I could put my name on a waitlist while we were still at the hotel. Right as we pulled into the parking lot, our table was ready. All of the staff were very friendly, and the place was packed. We ordered a bottle of champagne and were able to pick 2 different types of juice to mix with it. My husband ordered a Denver omelette, which I didn't get a photo of but he enjoyed. I had eggs Benedict were you get to pick two different types. I picked the caprice and the Californian I believe it was called. I asked for a side of fresh jalapeños. It was absolutely fabulous! We will be returning. This location is in a medium to large sized mall with a relatively big lot with ample parking. Our server Ariel was pleasant and efficient. We shared the classic eggs Benedict, chose a side of fruit out of the choices, and added a side of hash browns. The Benedict and fruit came on a giant plate which made the food look very small. However, the calories in most of their dishes make them good for sharing for many people who are not on a high calorie diet. The Benedict was at least slightly cheaper than elsewhere, but other places might give you more side dishes or premium toppings with it for more money. We are not sure if they used hollandaise or bearnaise sauce, but whichever, the flavor was good, strong, but not super overpowering. The eggs and ham were cooked well. The muffin was not soaked through and soggy or over cooked. You still need the steak knife rather than the butter knife to cut it. The fruit was fresh. The hash browns were just ok. They were only a little crispy and mostly soft. They were buttery, but we like them a little crisper on the outside with a soft inside. They had a pineapple and some other fruit juice mimosa and we asked them to make a classic mimosa with just orange juice, which they did with no problem. The mimosa had about the right amount of Prosecco to juice ratio so that you felt like you got your moneys worth of alcohol, but so that it was not overpowering and tasted good. Overall it was a good experience and we would go here again and recommend you give them a try. read more
