That is the only reason this isn't one star. 3. Slow coffee refills even in a nearly empty restaurant. At $3.25 a cup they should leave a pot on the table. I went to Broken Yolk in September and had the Belgium Waffle with Chicken. It was so tasty. The waffle was crispy, the chicken was plentiful and moist. I couldn't wait to go back and get it again. I had lunch there today with friends, and ordered it. I was the very last to receive my meal of 10 in our party. The waffle was soggy, and the chicken skimpy and and so "well done" that it was dry and hard to eat. I was very disappointed. I don't think I will ever go back. There is obviously not consistency in the how the food is cooked. On the plus side, the server was very courteous and efficient. read more

Read all the mixed reviews but still wanted to try this restaurant. I ordered a basic breakfast: bacon and eggs. The good: their service was good and prompt. The wheat toast was excellent bread. Tge hashbrowns actually tasted like potatoes. The bad: the poached eggs medium I ordered were hard cooked. I waited for the waitress to come by and ask how everything was but she only came to drop the bill. She did offer to have more eggs cooked but by then we were ready to go. Also I saw under the drink menu pomegranate so ordered it but it was not juice but sparkling, and on the bill it was called a mimosa. Did not like it at all. May have been my reading of the menu. Broken Yolk is the kind of place you go too when you don't take your food too seriously and you just want to sit for as long as possible and talk with someone with no one rushing you out. You will be fighting the noise and flys. You will have great service every time. You will not expect anything amazingly profoundly delicious (aside from the fries). Those glorious fries. The food is mid. This is like a small town diner but a chain and you're going because you know your coffee will be constantly filled and you won't have to ask. Believe the low ratings. When this restaurant first opened it was pretty good but has failed to meet expectations ever since. Poor service, cold food, lack of taste and costly. I decided to try again today because I know sometimes things go wrong but once again I was let down. I sat down for almost 10 minutes and watched my server clean one table and help two other tables that came in after me and never acknowledge me but she made sure to take their drink orders. Oh and to answer the burning question, there were three servers and it wasn't that busy. I also saw her chatting in the back in between cleaning the table and helping the other customers. My husband and I tried brunch here yesterday, and we were highly disappointed. My husband ordered an omelette with turkey sausage, cheese, and tomato's. He was served an omelette with no cheese, peppers, and sliced turkey. When I stood up to find our waiter, a young blonde waitress in pigtails shouts, "WHAT?". I came in on a Monday morning with a big group of friends which I understand is slightly inconvenient. However, the food (which was cold and tasted rotten) took absolutely forever to come out. Our server was rude and acted annoyed the entire time. Only one of my friends voiced her complaint and she was very kind about it by saying "Hey, I'm so sorry, but the food tasted rotten and it made me feel sick afterwards just to let the kitchen know." We went inside only to be told that it would be another 35 minutes until we could be seated and that the wait list was wrong in determining our time. New restaurant opened in Meridian. They serve breakfast and lunch. It was a snowy day and we were out running errands. Wanted breakfast and didn't want to venture far from home. The only thing that would be nice is if the handicap parking was close to the door. It's in a fairly new area so construction is still ongoing. The first thing we noticed was how quiet it was. Nice booths and some tables. Floor to ceiling windows which we both appreciated. Nicely decorated. The girl that seated us was very good. Came back a few times to see if we needed anything and how was everything. Our breakfast was very good. I had 2 eggs, scrambled just like I wanted, hash browns and English Muffin. I like my English Muffin cooked like almost burned and not soft but I didn't request it that way. The hash browns were great, not greasy at all. Hubby had an omelet with fried potatoes. He enjoyed it a lot. I think it would be better to provide the butter so customers could put on how much they wanted instead of being served with it being buttered. Plenty of jelly packets on the table. The food took a little time to come out but we didn't mind at all since we were in no hurry. Seriously bad. I ordered my food online to pickup and when i got it the order was completely wrong and the hash browns were burnt! Smoothies also suck. How do you mix up bread with soup? Last week I was stuck in Boise, Idaho and dined at the Broken Yolk Cafe in Meridian. I must say that the menu blew my mind; but our waitress, Maria, made our visit a standout! I'm from Southern California and had never heard of this restaurant (despite having a close friend of many, many years who lives in the San Diego area). The kitchen struggled to prepare all of our (party of six) orders to arrive at our table around the same time; but Maria kept us informed, and ultimately made things right. My husband and I frequent BY a few times a month for breakfast. Tons of menu options for even the pickiest of eaters. It's a large space and the noise level can be a bit overwhelming and somewhat difficult for individuals who have difficulties hearing in crowded places. I've been to Broken Yolk twice now and I was impressed. The first time was on a Saturday morning full house very noisy so expect that it's not a cozy place to have conversations. Lots of children were present which really amplified the problem. Great menu and the food was delicious. The second time I took my son last weekend a little earlier, and it was a quiet place at about 30% capacity. I ordered the Spanish scramble skillet, can't remember the name, and it was really good. It could've been a little hotter, but nonetheless, I really liked how they scalloped potatoes underneath and they were nice and crispy with all of the other fixings on top. It had chorizo meat, so it seemed fresh and tasty. My son had the French toast and bacon and eggs scrambled and he really enjoyed it. It all looked fresh and tasted great. The service is always good. I did have a problem with my coffee with little black particles in it, not grounds, so I had them swap it out and they were, apologetic and quick with the replacement. Overall, it's a great place for a Saturday morning or even weekday morning breakfast. I didn't notice that there were a few couple of people with their laptops doing business so if you go early enough, you can actually have a decent business meeting there. read more
