My mom and I have had breakfast here several times, and we were enjoying the Broken Yolk Cafe. But on our last visit our food was cold. My Golden State Benedict was ice cold and my home fries were barely warm. The sauce on the side was warm and I poured it over my eggs Benedict hoping it would warm them up. I told another waiter because our waiter was MIA. The waiter said that it happens with their Mexican dishes due to the sour cream. He did not offer to take my plate back to warm it up. I doubt sour cream can make a whole plate ice cold. It does not happen at Mexican restaurants. I did not have sour but there was avocado. The avocado slices would not make the entire food on my plate ice cold. It appears that the Broken Yolk does not use plate warmers like other restaurants. They must store their plates in the freezer. The restaurant is clean and it is nice inside, but the waiters disappear after they deliver your food. Other times we've been there we ignored the MIA waiters because the food was good. This time the food was horrible. We decided not to come back. After seeing a recent Yelp review, they still have not fixed their cold eggs Benedict. read more

The Brokem Yolk is a hidden gem in Oceanside for breakfast..They have an extensive menu with just about anything you crave. Lemon Ricotta pancakes, Appewood Smoked Bacon cooked to perfection, crispy waffles with a nice fluffy center, Huevos Rancheros with lots of flavor, eggs cooked to the right temperature, and cooked exactly the way you like! This is our families favorite breakfast restaurant! It is bright, clean, and the seating is nicely spaced out. I'm very impressed with this location. Very modern with nice huge fans and well lit. Actually a pretty good size to accommodate large parties. In addition, I love that they have a section for little children to play at. GENIUS! Tupac really loves Broken Yolk's Corned Beef Hash. I ordered the American Breakfast with Apple Wood Bacon for a $1 more and 1 piece of Pancake $3.75 cause I just wanted to taste it. The bacon was blah. Although it was soft it was very hard to chew. The pancake was just okay but the corned beef was really good. Our server was Alison. She is a very good server. Checked on us quite often and offered for us to become a rewards member. This is my favorite breakfast location. The wait may be a bit long, but is still reasonable for the food they serve! Their menu is very large and so it's an easy place for picky people. I typically go for their burritos and they're all amazing and filling. Portions are very very generous here and I never leave feeling empty. Their service is amazing- the food comes out quickly, the staff is very readily available and they're overall very friendly people. If I could give this location a zero I would. Right from entering we were waiting a bit to get greeted. When someone did come up front and asked for how many, when we answered he said "oh gosh" while grabbing the menus. He finally looked at us and saw we had children and made a face and said "ok how many kids" as if greatly inconvenienced. Walked us back to the table and then explained that they were short staffed and might take a minute to get to us. If he started with that instead of an "oh gosh" at our party number (3 adults, 3 kids) we would've stayed to eat because we don't mind a wait for delicious food but his complete rudeness had us walk out. ****After the incident, Tarissa the general manager, reached out to me to apologize for the way the employee treated us. She was very nice and understanding and we were offered a giftcard to use at any Broken Yolk location since we were from out of town. We do visit California for little road trips, so we'll definitely try out this location again when we come back since Tarissa was so nice and accommodating. read more

I ordered online @9:25 am and estimated ready time 9:38am- I got there early @ 9:35 and it was ready- waiting on me :) not the other way around!! I came here with a party of 7 on Sunday at 11:30 and miraculously there was only a 5 minutes wait. We sat outside with a pup and they brought him water which was very nice. Practically all of us ordered chicken fried steak and this was my first time having it. It was really tasty and there wasn't too much breading. The gravy was very thick and flavorful but not salty. I'm glad I got it on the side because that was a lot of gravy! Their biscuit was really good, I wasn't much of a fan of their blueberry muffin ... it tasted artificial. Their fries were delicious; skinny and perfectly crispy! Towards the end when we were trying to pay, our server disappeared for about 30 minutes so it was frustrating trying to get somebody to help since we were in the back corner, but I know that they were probably understaffed. Parking is great it's in a mini lot so ample parking. I will definitely be back! read more
