Amazing! I've lived here for years and never been here. We finally decided to come here and I'm glad we did! It's so unique. I had the eggs Benedict (caprese and sopa). I had matcha green tea latte. Tastes just like Starbucks. My husband had the American breakfast and it was very tasty. They have flavorful food here. Great spices and unique takes on traditional breakfast favorites. They only serve breakfast and lunch and the close at 2:30 pm. The place was nice and clean. Donia the serve was very nice and friendly. Dessert: I thought I would order; Crunchy French Toast, three bread slices with batter-dripped eggs, frosted flakes, sliced almonds, raspberries, and powdered sugar, topped with whipped cream. It was delicious. Entrée: I ordered a breakfast omelet, El Fuego; chorizo, jalapenos, jack cheese, topped with avocado and salsa. included; hash browns and toast. Had not been to a Broken Yolk in years, and after the visit last weekend I remembered why. We arrived early and were seated quickly. There were not many customers seated in the restaurant, however it took almost 10 minutes before a server came to take our drink order. It was a good five minutes before he returned with our drinks and another 5 minutes before he took our food order. Our order consisted of an order of blueberry pancakes, a side of well down bacon, and a breakfast skillet. Our food showed up to the table in about 3 minutes. The pancakes were very dry and had a handful of blueberries thrown on top of the stack. Usually, when you order blueberry pancakes there are blueberries in the pancakes. The side of bacon was well done, actually burnt. The skillet was barely warm, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The home fries in it tasted stale, and I highly suspect the scrambled eggs were powdered, they most definitely were not fresh. Other issues were the pepper shaker was empty, I had to request another one. The syrup bottle was full, however the outside was covered in a sticky mess, I had to get one off another table, since the server was nowhere to be found. He was also missing in action when trying to get our check so we could pay. Overall, our visit was very disappointing. Talk about a good breakfast and brunch spot! This place is so good! Went here for the first time, it left me wanting to come back for more! They even had mimosa..NOW that'a a true breakfast spot! I ordered the Tiki Toast which is a french toast used by hawaiian bread. Topped with blueberries, strawberries and shredded coconut. It was really good, just wished it was more sweeter. I added the syrup, but I don't know. It just wasn't as sweet as I thought it would've. But everyone is different and loved it as it is. They give you alot of shredded beef. Just a little disappointed it didnt come with rice, maybe that's the Asian part of me that wants rice with everything. Huevos Divorciados was pretty delish. Living in Irvine, which has very few breakfast places of note, I was excited to hear when this S.D. staple first opened within reasonable driving distance. I've been there a couple of times now and they have a huge breakfast menu encompassing all flavors and types of morning food, from traditional eggs, potatoes, and bacon to assorted types of pancakes and french toast, to omelets and southern style biscuit n gravy platters. They also have big burgers served with biscuits, which makes it an interesting brunch / after breakfast spot if you are prone to order this kind of plate. I've had the breakfast biscuit & gravy and even though it's not my typical pick it was worth trying and definitely tasty and filled me up nice. The coffee hit the spot and was refilled twice which was good enough for me. Another time, I went back and ordered the chorizo scramble with beans and tortillas which is an early bird special (#6) until 8am for $6.99. Overall it was good but I was expecting black beans. The refried beans were a little runny, and cold in the center. So I'd order something else next time.. luckily there are 7 other choices for this reasonable price. Also had the homefried potatoes for an extra $2.50 which were tasty. Since I rate them 3.5 stars and that's not an option on Yelp, I'm leaving them a three star rating so as not to dissuade anyone. I'll still go back and have the pancakes or French Toast (yum) when I get a chance, and rate them again. I am giving this restaurant 2 stars and both stars belong to Amanda. There's a lot of hype about this restaurant since its recent opening in OC. Arriving at around 10-ish on Labor Day, I saw a huge crowd waiting outside the restaurant. This was the perfect holiday late breakfast/brunch time and I saw that a lot of people are eager to check out this restaurant, which is bringing its well-known fame from San Diego to Orange County. This further piqued my curiosity to check out this restaurant. Today. Regardless of the wait. Regardless of the prices on the menu. Mistake. Stupidity. Note to self: Rob, please don't do this again. The wait was ok. It was only about 30 - 40 minutes and the staff was doing a great job clearing tables and seating customers. The staff working at the reception area was efficient. SERVICE: It was the wait after we were seated that was not acceptable. For about 15 minutes we were not greeted, acknowledged or communicated to in any way by our server. She had actually walked right by us several times, but at that time we did not know she was our server. Not a "hello!" Not a "be right with you." Fortunately, there was Amanda (from her nametag), who was NOT our server, and who probably felt sorry for us that we were ignored. She asked us whether we had met our server yet and I said no. She offered to take our beverage order and we asked for 2 coffees. A few minutes later she came back with our coffees. Knowing that we still had not seen our server, she offered to take our orders. She must be feeling really sorry for us or maybe she can see my empty stomach through my hungry eyes. I was at first hesitant to give her the extra work that she was not going to get paid for. But she asked with such enthusiasm that I knew she really didn't mind doing it. So I placed our orders. It was Amanda who brought us our food and we were very appreciative of her efforts. I was not going to bother her for more coffee, cream and sugar, but my craving for more caffeine betrayed me. So I asked, and she so pleasantly brought us more coffee and gladly refilled our cream and sugar. Note to management: This is the definition of going above and beyond. Kudos to Amanda. Halfway through our meal our server eventually showed up and asked us how's everything, but left in such a hurry that I didn't even had the time to ask for more coffee. And of course, she didn't ask if we wanted more coffee. FOOD: Food was average. Honestly, it was not bad at all, but definitely not what it's all hyped up about. I ordered my eggs over medium and they came over easy -- there were still liquid egg whites. The corned beef hash was good, not spectacular. The home fries were really just ok -- need to spice it up a bit. The sweet potato pancakes were ok. They tasted good but was a bit chewy and lacked the softness and fluffiness of a pancake. PRICES/VALUE: Prices are expensive compared to similar diners/ family restaurants. The bill for an order of sweet potato pancakes and 2 eggs with corned beef hash and 2 coffees was $25 before tips. I can get better food, better breakfast potatoes and much better service at Mimi's Café at about 20% less than what we paid today. While the portions were large, the value was still not there. NOISE LEVEL: I am Chinese and I frequent Chinese restaurants. This place is nosier than the nosiest Chinese restaurant that I've ever been to. Need I say more? Came really early so parking was a breeze. Waited about 5 min before being greeted and brought to our table with menus. Our server smiles often attempting to make conversation. There was't anything there to make it stand out from the rest. Tiki Toast $11.79 make it a combo +4.29 First off, 2 eggs and 2 bacons for $4.29 was, I felt, a bit much to pay. Because they were cooked well to my preference it made it easy to over look the additional cost. The thick, pie cut, hawaiian sweet bread always makes a wonderful french toast. The strawberries were okay but the blueberry were exquisite making a wonderful pairing between bread and fruit. I would come back for this but a smaller portion. I could not finish the 3rd slice but ate everything else including the fruit. Overall it's not a place I can recommend but out of convenience if you so happen to be in the area. They do have many regulars. In fact, I think we were the only ones that were not. It is impressive to see a venue have many returning customers. I may return one day too. read more

They have their own parking lot behind the restaurant. Outdoor seating is also available in the back patio. They have a huge variety of food..from omelets to Nutella crepes! I don't have a favorite because I like to share. Their portions are definitely shareable, and I love that! At this particular location, I ordered the sweet potato fries, which came out nice and crispy. Each entree pretty much comes with choice of fruit, potatoes (home fries), or hash browns. Omelets come with choice of toast, blueberry muffin, biscuit, tortilla, etc. My absolute favorite is the No Name Omelet. Service is great here. I can tell the managers and employees truly value their customers and wishes a great time for everyone.
