We've been to this location a few times and never noticed any of what we saw today. The restaurant actually brought out dirty glasses as if it was normal. There were lipstick stains and stuck on food on the glasses. It completely put us off and we left before ordering anything. If this is the standard here then that's a problem. The food presentation is the best part about this restaurant. That being said, here is our experience. It's crazy busy, but a lot of tables are open. We were seated as the entire place smells of egg. You know that smell when you open a dishwasher and that smelly steam hits your face? The entire place smelled like that. We had to ask our server at least 3x for sugar (we had coffee) and then she only brought 5 packages. Our food was mediocre at best, but it looked delicious. Overall, you can tell the staff is inexperienced and I hope they get better in time bc they are nice, but nice doesn't always mean good serb. I hope the food improves as well, but they'll have to take suggestions for sure. I also really hope they manage the smell because it was almost unbearable. Was in the area and decided to come to Broken Yolk since I love the location in Mission Viejo. I absolutely love the tuna melt and onion rings at the Mission Viejo location so was assuming it would be the same. Nope! Not at all. Besides running out of onion rings the tuna melt is way smaller and wasn't as good. I guess there is no consistency with this franchise? It was a total bummer. And for the service...well there wasn't any really. Yes. Our order got taken, drinks brought to us as well as the food. Never once were we asked how everything was, if we needed anything, etc. We asked the girl who brought the food out for some ranch. Nope. That didn't happen. Had to flag down the server to get some ranch and a refill on the soda. Super disappointed with this location. Will not be visiting this location again. Will be sticking with the Mission Viejo location. read more

I have tried a different restaurant in San Diego before and I loved it. This particular location is no different. I love all the items in the menu. I usually order a different plate every time I go because there are a lot of items to try. The omelettes are always good and you can't go wrong with the pancakes. Sometimes the wait is a little long but they seat people pretty fast. Our waiter(I forgot his name but had glasses) that day was nice and took our order quickly. He refilled my coffee several times which I appreciated because I hate when I'm in the middle of my meal and I run out of coffee. My friend which came with me said she enjoyed the hash browns because they were crispy and tasty. The plates are huge! I didn't finish all my meal because it was too much food. If you have a party of 2 or less, you'll be seated right away. I came in the morning with a party of 5 and there was a 15min wait... Service was good and the food was delicious. I visited the location in Costa Mesa a few weeks back and wasn't impressed with service. That was night and day compared to the type of service I received from this location this past Tuesday. What's the difference? -- I still remember the name of my server from this location. Manny was excellent in his attention to multiple areas he was covering. From refills of coffee and water to asking questions about the menu. And although Manny was balancing multiple assignments at a time -- Each time Manny spent time at my table, he treated us as if we were the only people at the restaurant in that moment. He would slow down, listen, and act on what he said he would do. He made us feel like we were eating breakfast at an old friends kitchen and dining room. Well worth the drive! There's another Broken Yolk Cafe location closer to my home (6.4 miles closer to be exact), but I find myself making the drive out to their Orange location time and time again! The service was quick, without compromising the quality of our food (I am used to waiting longer for good food, but here the wait time is always cut in half and just as yummy!). Had a good experience at this location today. We were greeted and seated immediately. The food came out promptly and tasted delicious. Our server was friendly, however I will say she could have been more attentive and checked in more with us. We had to wait awhile for her to return to the vicinity of our table to flag her down for refills. Overall, we had a very nice experience and will return to this location in the future. read more

Great breakfast and a nice clean atmosphere every time we come in. We always ask to sit in Donia's section and she always seems to remember our order, such a sweet heart and AMAZING customer service. We feel so much like regulars it's amazing and makes our breakfasts here that much better. The rewards program is also nice, getting occasional gift cards is a breeze.
