We were headed to a show at the Civic Theater and heard that Bronze Bird offers 20% off their food menu if you dine in the same day as your show so we decided to stop by for an early pre-show dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located on the first floor next to the lobby of the Westin Gaslamp hotel. It has a large bar area, an indoor main dining area, and a small outdoor patio space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation and were immediately seated upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and professional. My one critique is that it took a while to get our waters and order food (I had to flag down the host and ask for our server). The food was very good. Super fresh, cooked to perfection, tasty, and decent portions. We enjoyed everything and ate it all! Each entree is around $20-50 and appetizers around $15-20. Note: if you dine in, they offer $10 valet parking for 5 hours if you show them your show tickets. The restaurant is a 5 minute walk to the theater.

My favorite place to visit before or after a broadway or show at balboa theater. They have a great valet service & extremely nice staff. Feels upscale but friendly. We've been visiting this place for 3 years and it has never disappointed. The chef is young and the special menu inspirations for events are worth the try!

Bronze bird is located inside the Westin and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance and setting is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I called ahead to place my order and got the pizza and churros. Both were delicious. The pizza was a perfect portion too. This place is expensive though which makes sense given hotel food but I'd probably find a cheaper option next time.

This was absolutely delicious. I ate the lava cake so fast I forgot to get a picture. Enough food to share for two and it was amazing. The wings were more flavorful than I expected. The brussel sprouts were so soft and tasty. Quick service thankfully split between two people. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was just on the off shoot of the front entryway. They sat is far enough away that it didn't feel uncomfortable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Well decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Dinner and a show deal

We did the "dinner and show" deal with the Westin downtown which is just a 2 minute walk from the Civic Theatre where we watch our niece's ballet. You pay $10 for 5 hours of valet parking and also get 20% off your check which is a great deal. I had the local catch with risotto. The fish was not overcooked and the risotto was perfect. A lot of options for the kids which was a plus. The food is standard American fare but it was good and not too expensive for a hotel restaurant. We would definitely return next time we have a show to catch.

Bronze bird is one of the best restaurants in San Diego! I am so delighted! The service is so good! All servers are very friendly and they have the best recommendations! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This time we went for the chicken Alfredo, sword fish and poke tostadas DELICIOUS!!!!' I can't wait to go back!

Bronze Bird is tucked away in the Marriott in downtown SD. Service is outstanding- attentive and timely. I came for an early dinner with a friend and ordered the Wagyu Burger and fries and a smoked old fashion. The Wagyu burger was cooked medium rare as requested and had nice cohesion. It was a nice touch to include a good amount of veggies that I could choose how much I wanted. The smoked old fashion was a fun time, the waiter smoked it live for us using a blowtorch. Prices are a little high for what you get and I was a little hungry after finishing my dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall this was a fun dinner and drinks spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    A great breakfast

Recently stayed at the Westin and dined at the Bronze Bird twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Had the spicy chicken sandwich for lunch. It was very good. Served piping hot with a nice crispiness. The cabbage slaw on the sandwich was excellent, and i ordered extra as a side dish. The small included micro, diced pickles to give it an interesting edge. Breakfast buffet was one of the best quality Westin/Marriott breakfast buffets. Eggs were very good, bacon was fantastic, fruit was very fresh and in good condition. Service: good service, especially for breakfast when I was running late to get a flight Overall, the bronze bird went up in my book compared to my last visit.

This is located within the Western gaslamp hotel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quiet when we arrived.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took about two minutes and we were sat at a table. Server: Ricardo was our server and he is fantastic! Friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Food: we were not that hungry, got the spicy chicken salad and asked them to cut it in half. Got an extra side of slaw. I did not realize it came with fries. The chicken sandwich was temperature hot with some spice and crunch with the slaw. Getting extra slaw on the side was nice. The French fries were hot, crunchy, and lots of flavors and textures. A solid delicious chicken sandwich. And great service with Ricardo!

LOVE THIS SPOT. Food Service We stopped in for a drink and a snack last night. I got the chipotle lobster roll with pico and fries, very unique flavors. It was fresh and delicious and served on a Texas toast, I loved it!!! My husband got a chocolate lava dessert, he said it was the best treat to end the night with the sweet berries on the side. I had a Paloma which was so tasty & made very well. Juan was our server, super friendly & attentive. He was fantastic !! [[HIGHLIGHT]]He sat us at a nice quiet table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had an open layout & was very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Mother's Day
    Jessica C.

Went for Mother's Day, Petals and Prosecco which was a little misleading because they said mothers could design their own floral bouquet in the description and it was just a bucket of maybe 2 colors roses and you got one. Service was ok, I had to get up and ask the server for boxes and the check and coffee. Seemed like they had forgotten about our table at the end. The food was good, but desserts were very dry and stale. Moms were happy though, so that's all that mattered to me!

(Dined 08/29/25 FR @ 6:30pm): I saw neither any bronze or birds at this place! After a long afternoon touring investment properties with my realtor, we kept things easy and ended the day at Bronze Bird for a casual meal. We were staying overnight at The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter where the restaurant was located, so the convenience was a major factor. Personally, I always liked to try in-hotel restaurants, and this one looked very inviting. Could this eatery be more than a bronze in our books, or would we end up giving it the bird!? OVERALL Bronze Bird turned out to be the perfect way to end a busy day and a good night's sleep. As expected, the prices were elevated for a higher-end hotel, but they weren't crazy. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $87.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Staying at the hotel, this is where they serve breakfast. They give you the option of the breakfast buffet or order off the menu, à la cart. We opted for the buffet. I think the breakfast would be a better deal if you want to eat a full breakfast. If you just want a little bite, then order from the menu. Also, ordering an omelette with the server is included in the buffet; four ingredients. The buffet food was ok. They have a little of everything. I did order an omelette, that was ok. I thought it was a little over cooked, but it was edible. Overall, the food is mediocre. I would eat here when I'm staying at the hotel.

Ruby was the first person I spoke with when I initially called, and she was lovely. The general manager Amber made planning easy - there were no deposits or minimums, I was able to order platters in advance, and she was great with communication. When I mentioned that the group loved Rumplemintz shots, Amber even set some aside after ordering extra bottles (and had it cold and ready when we came in). I was able to meet and thank Amber after we first came in, and she was so warm and welcoming and even gave us a few Rumplemintz shots on the house to kick things off (thank you again, Amber!). The reviews don't lie in terms of how good the food here is. When we arrived a little early, they had our platters ready almost immediately and kept them well-heated. We had platters of the sticky garlic wings and a mix of the garlic and regular fries, and ordered pretzels and queso and the elote dip à la carte for the tables. Everything was amazing and the sticky garlic wings and garlic fries were such a hit that we ordered a few extra plates of them as well (even though the platters were perfect for our group size). EVERYONE raved about them. We had a small amount left to bring home that were enjoyed the next evening and were still amazing after being reheated. A few people in our party got additional food items as well (burgers) and they were hits as well. The drinks were also phenomenal, with a special shoutout for the espresso martini and the Purple Haze mocktail (that a few folks liked so much they got an alcoholic version). We had a person in our group who can't drink and it was nice to see how inclusive they are with having a few signature mocktail options. The pricing was very reasonable, especially for the platters (they were perfectly sized, and we only ordered a little extra because the food was so good and we'd wanted to take some home). Highly recommend getting platters with a larger group here - you can pre-order and they keep everything well-heated for you the whole time. Most importantly, this place is a vibe and every single staff member we interacted with was SO KIND and accommodating. The service was top-notch and I wish I had everyone's names to thank them individually (thanks to everyone working Saturday, 8/1 evening!). Definitely on the pricier end for certain dishes but many of them are well worth it! - sourdough bread: good but also why are we spending $16 here. can't say it's worth - ahi tartare: no notes, everything hit, would come back for this alone - steamed clam and mussels: these were some meaty af mussels. delicious! the clams were tiny & pathetic tho and can't say I loved having the chorizo in there - charred broccolini: honestly don't remember this well but i had no complaints - grilled oysters: another fav of mine!!! a must get - hearth roasted carrots: the yogurt & pesto were on the side (due to dairy restrictions) but the pesto was SO. GOOD. paired beautifully with the carrots!!!!! I'm dying to know how to make this at home myself - branzino: good but would skip. I do typically like fish entrees but this wasn't overly impressive. could've used more sauce - NY strip: our favorite entree!!!! paired SO with the bone marrow - duck: super tender and fell right off the bone!!! our second fav entree - almond joy: incredible dessert, every bite I felt like I was getting a little something new. vanilla ice cream in the middle. LOVEEED this as our ending to dinner

Came for happy hour (wed-sun 4-6) in the bar ONLY.The bar is located in a separate room than the…read moredining area. Happy hour seating is walk ins only, no reservations. There is a "happy hour" on Monday but it's called Ouster Monday, oysters are $1 and they have different specials that are not offered on the normal happy hour. Got the crispy chicken wings, Wagyu longaniza, and burger The chicken wings were very crispy and came topped with a jalapeño relish. The relish had a citrusy taste to it or maybe it was the liquid from the pickled jalapeños. I liked the crispness of the chicken but I think the relish was too acidic for me. The Wagyu longaniza was my favorite, very strong beefy flavor. It came on top of salsa matcha which i thought was very tasty so much that I dipped the wings and burger in the sauce. The slice of radish on top gave it a nice texture and crunch. I see the Wagyu hotdog is offered on the oyster Monday special so I'm gonna have to come back and try that for sure. The burger was cooked nicely, medium as requested. It came topped with an egg, truffled onion jam, and cheddar cheese. The bun was nicely toasted and the egg and cheese added a nice rich element to it but I didn't care for the onion jam, it gave the burger an overall sweet profile. I'd simply ask for it without next time. Over all a solid burger, maybe I'd add bacon too. I also had a margarita which was on happy hour special. I asked for it to be spicy and they added a tajin rim which was nice. Spicy and refreshing! Parking is all on the street so I had to part a few blocks away. Overall a solid happy hour. I'll be back on Oyster Monday for the hot dog and fish collars.
