    Taco party

We came during the month of march on a Tuesday as I saw an advertisement of $1 Taco Tuesday. We got there at 5pm, kind of early for dinner right, so not much people? Wrong. Lol There was a decent size line. Took about 15-20mins in line. Once we get to the front. We ordered and the guy says it will be at least an hour wait for the tacos. Whatttt. Well we already waited so long. Sure. Soon enough the place got packed. When we got our food and was eating, we hear people saying they are now announcing it is a 2 hour wait for tacos. Also, they messed up our order and it took an additional 30mins to get our correct order. It seemed a bit unorganized in there. I think it was just so many people. The sad part was that the food wasnt that good.... It was very mid. The steak was chewy and tough. The carnitas was big chunks. Barely cut up. The fish was over cooked. I am thinking with how busy it was, they lacked on the quality of the tacos. Sad.

I visited Taqueria Azteca in Dublin, CA [7155 Amador Plaza Rd] on Sunday, 01/25/26, around 6:30 PM. I decided to place a takeout order. I ordered one of the soup options - the PhoBirria with Short Rib. It included pho noodles, birria, short rib, sprouts, lime, cilantro, and onions. The soup was extremely delicious and flavorful. What I loved most was the tender short rib meat, along with the rich flavor of the broth and birria. The entire dish left me feeling full and completely satisfied. For about $25, it was worth every penny. The order took a while to prepare since it was during the dinner rush. It was a good thing that I called ahead because it took about 35 minutes for the order to be completed. The salsa bar area was also running a little low on a couple of the salsas. Overall, Taqueria Azteca offers wonderful food. I would definitely return again for the epic PhoBirria with Short Rib soup.

My second time here, I tried something very different. I've had a Birria pizza before elsewhere but now I got a carne asada. There are other choices of meats to choose from so I believe Birria is a choice here too. FYI I did ask for the jalapeños to be off Delicious...only 2 slices left for me to try the next day The Bao birria was different, good but not to the point I'd come back for more or put it on my must get list. It seems like you can order one or 5 that come with fries. I still have a few more items I want to try but it would probably be best to try it with a few people so I'll bring my girls next time. They are a small location though so don't bring a big party here. Small groups will enjoy their space. They have a kiosk to order on but I thought it was easier to order with the employee because I wanted to edit an item. Everyone pretty much likes ordering with the employee, I would see them hop on but go off when the employee was free to take orders. My wait wasn't long and the lady was kind enough to help assist me to the car with my order.

Ok, so the food here is mostly good, but what I experienced was terrible. Last week, I placed an online order and they forgot to check the bags to see if all items were packed. They missed the churros, but made it right and refunded me. That said, they packed one of the boxes upside down and sauce leaked everywhere all over the bag. A bit of mess, but forgivable because the food tasted amazing. Yesterday I placed another online order. I bit into my birria cheesesteak and found a screw! This is completely unsafe and unacceptable.

I came here to get lunch to go. My first time here. I asked the cashier what was their most popular and famous dish, he said Quesabirria with consome, so I said ok, I will try, one please. I tried it when I got home and it was indeed delicious. Three Quesabirria with console at $16.95 plus tax was almost $20. There were free chips and salsa that you can help yourselves to get. Overall, meal was delicious. I saw churros was on the menu, didn't get to order that yet, maybe next time.

Do not miss the special Taco Tuesdays for $1 street tacos! I have frequented Taqueria Azteca a few times and the ambiance is definitely a casual divey taco joint but their street tacos for this event were outstanding in price and flavor. For the special, they had a wide selection of meat options (presume they have veg options too) and the seafood options were excluded. Service was quick and efficient. Our 12 tacos were well presented in a covered tray with generous lime and radish slices. Chips and a variety of salsas were complimentary and self serve. Not to be missed!

The establishment was so busy as they had a promotional $1 taco Tuesday for a month. I was impressed with all of the people that showed up to try their tacos. Sadly I was not impressed with the tacos carne asada and pollo that I ordered. Drier than my dryer sheets and probably tasted alike. I actually ordered pastor but they gave me chicken instead. I usually would go back to a mexican spot and try their burrito to be sure...but not sure about that this time.

Today I had lunch here. It was relatively early lunch and place had plenty of tables to select. Spanish daytime program was being broadcasted on the big screen tv. I had the super burrito with carne asada and black beans filling, along with a watermelon aqua Fresca. There's a complimentary chips and salsa bar. The burrito was ready in short period. Counter person and kitchen person were friendly. The watermelon drink was pleasant. The burrito was definitely filled with chunks of carne asada. Overall, nice meal.

Door dashed burritos and fries from Taqueria Azteca. Pick up was easy and food was packaged neatly. Didn't eat there so I can't say much about the ambiance. The outside of the building is clean, nice and bright. We picked up a couple breakfast burritos and carne asada fries. The Mexican style breakfast burrito was delicious with chorizo, loaded with cheese, and had potatoes. I am in the camp of potatoes or fries in burritos. The American style breakfast burrito was amazing. There was crispy taters, also loaded with cheese and sausage. I would order any of these again. The carne asada fries had chunks of meat and also loaded with cheese. This taqueria does not hold back on the cheese the fries themselves were thicker cut and were on the soggy side. Maybe it was from being in a takeout box or the fries soaked up all juices from the meat and cheese. Either way it was good but I will try it in the restaurant next time.

So GOOD! I am vegan and appreciate all the vegan options! Their food is not overly salty it tastes healthy and delicious. Found my new go to Taqueria. Will be back again and again!

    Carnitas plate
    Sergio R.

Food was amazing, carnitas exactly how I like it for the exception of slightly bland. It's a nice small space with outside seating. Only thing was when I asked the guy about the way the carnitas are done he just had a bothered look on his face and went to explain how it's done at their local, I don't think I was asking an out of the norm question as some places throw it on the grill to heat it up but then it comes out crunchy which o don't like. But otherwise food was good with a nice salsa bar area.

My husband pushed me to get it on a sunday afternoon after church, and I am so glad he did. When we walked in, they were busy, so we took some time to look at the menu. The location is small, so I was standing next to people eating, and I saw someone had caldo de camaron, which looked delicious. Due to pricing, I decided to go with the Pozole (small). My kids always want quesadilla with rice and beans (no meat). They had a super quesadilla, just cheese, so we got them that with a side of rice and beans for them to split. The portions were perfect for my big boys. My husband got enchiladas rojas with asada. He loved the taste on all of it, but next time would probably get double rice, no beans. He's not a fan of beans, so it's just a personal preference. I got the STAR of the show, their POZOLE was 10/10. They brought it out before I could even get my drink, they were so fast. They didn't just bring the pozole, they gave me the works: oregano, chili oil, tostadas, radish, and cabbage to put on it. It was so delicious, I'm already planning to go back next sunday! My kids and I loved the food so much my 7yo made sure to leave a tip. Service was quick, friendly, and they kept the location as clean as they could. It was really busy in there.e but they got the food out within minutes. LOVE THIS PLACE. Edit: we loved it so much we went back this past Saturday and got more things to try. Loved the carne asada plate wouldn't change a thing. The caldo de camarón took a little while to come out but still delicious. Quesadilla con carne was STUFF with meat. It was basically a burrito.

Now it gets weird. They ALWAYS used to include a mini cup of each of the salsas in my delivery orders. Last four delivery orders, they stopped giving the green jalapeño salsa. So because I love it so much, I specifically order an 8oz tub of it. Guess what they delivered? Not the jalapeño salsa but rather their other green one which is a garlic salsa. Could've reported it and received a DoorDash refund, but i left it alone. The last two deliveries, they also did not include the dorito pinwheels like they always do, so I drive there to get 'em. Even gave them $5 for something free, bc ya know - just helping a business out and the owner guy is nice and was apologetic. Now today, I was in the area, so i stopped in for a taco, agua fresca, a large bag of those pinwheel doritos and an 8oz tub of the jalapeño salsa especially because the salsa bar was empty and the other orange one i like was not made well this time. So watery yuck. The girl taking orders didn't seem like she was well versed in punching orders into their system. Took awhile for her to enter those 4 items I ordered and needed to grab one of the other staff to help her, but whatever - still tipped her 18%. Then, why in the world would they finish up my order then tell me they're completely out of the jalapeño salsa and then ask if I want an 8oz tub of another salsa? So at this point, it seems they're trying to do the same thing as when i ordered this specific salsa for delivery and hope i'll be ok with something else, right? It also looked almost performative when the girl opened the cabinet under the salsa bar looking for more jalapeño salsa before she told me they were completely out. I respond with "that's the only salsa I wanted. I can wait while they make more. can they make more?" she says no. twice. I let her know that I wanted to be refunded for the salsa and bag of dorito pinwheels. All of a sudden they magically found more jalapeño salsa. All of this to say I'm now absolutely convinced the staff is trying to hoard this specific salsa for whatever reason. Like i said, it's delicious, but not a reason to freakin hoard it for yourself when that's a reason your customers come back. I'll also add that the quality of the food these last two times around was no bueno. The amount of lengua and garnish in my taco was just sad. Literally, the taco I ordered today is the same taco I have pictured in my original review, but then opened it up when i got home and looked nothing like it did before. I've recommended this place to my coworkers and now I take it back and it seems the other Yelpers agree that this is no longer the place we loved. Definitely taking a break from this place. To the owner - I think when you're not there, your team is unfortunately letting you down and giving your customers a different food experience then what you provide and are known for.

I ordered the 2 hard shell taco plate with carne asada and ground beef. Chips and salsa are usually 99 cents per basket but the cashier didn't charge me anything . I ordered one order of churros which was a little mistake . First thing first, the plate was ok. Just ok. The saltiness in the ground beef was so overpowering I could barely eat it. The so called basket of complimentary chips were stale and had and were being heated under a heat lamp. Unfortunately, they have a fly problem, I had to shew away a couple of flies several times while eating. One thing that causes this that they keep their from dual entrance doors open which is a No No. Of course flies are attracted and come inside. Lastly the churros they almost forgot that I ordered it, I had to remind them. They were unfortunately the worst churros very hard barrel edible. About two 6 inch in size cut .The rice was unflavored and the beans were canned refried with just shredded cheese on top .So with all these issues I described on my first visit led me to rate it a 3/5 for Dos Amigos. Honestly I probably won't be returning unless they improve taste preparation and atmosphere. First impressions are huge with these type of restaurants.
