We came here twice - once in April with my daughter and 2nd with my husband. The service is great - coffee always refilled and the servers always checking up on how we are doing. Food was great - enjoyed the vegetable frittata and the sunday special quiche. Food Servings were just right for one person and not overflowing that we had to take leftovers home. Restaurant is clean and we would come here again if we are in town. So nice to have a restaurant like this to come to and not just have the typical IHOP or Black Bear Diners. I have been very impressed by how many things that Brookfield's has on the menu that are actually made from scratch. It is a rare find! Most of the desserts are all scratch made....and very good might I add. Another scratch made food there are the soups. I can't go there without ordering he chicken tortilla soup. My goodness. It is delicious. I have even bought additional to quarts of the soup to take home and reheat later. The only negative with he soup is that depending on which cook made the soup, it has different ingredients in it. The base of the soup is always the same and good, but some cooks add corn another cook adds a bit more jalapenos so it is a little spicier. Either way, I still enjoy it every time. The soup also comes with a generous serving of honey cornbread. It is an amazing combo. Whenever I visit Brookfield's, I leave feeling full and satisfied. The only negatives are that they share a parking lot with Sunsplash. During summer peak season, there is a security officer walking around making sure you aren't going to Sunsplash. If you are, they charge you to park. It just gets crazy and confusing. Another negative is the burgers are obviously pre frozen patties. They don't have my much in the way of flavor or substance. I definitely suggest eating the fresher, made from scratch foods over the frozen burgers and fries. The servers are usually really attentive and the restaurant is clean. The menu Is really big, so there is something for everyone! read more

This place is "okay". I wouldn't make it a destination by any means...but it is easy to get in and out on your way up to or back from the mountains. I appreciate that they had some flavored iced tea that didn't contain sugar. That was a nice surprise! I also thought the food was decent for a decent price. We stopped here a few times and had some different dishes - a pasta dish, a burger, a salad and sandwich (as I recall) All were "okay" nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. I guess as expected from a diner-ish spot. I have to say we were very disappointed with the dessert. I got a slice of the carrot cake to go. The case showed big hunks of delicious looking pieces with thick frosting. When I got home I opened the box (intending on sharing it with my Mom. I told her I had a surprise for her and got her all watered up for some cake... we opened the box to peer in at a sad corner with thin frosting and a burnt side and we both looked at each other and laughed.) We all took a taste and threw the rest out. Wasn't worth the calories.Total disappointment. So to sum it up - it is a diner-ish joint that is several cuts above a Denny's in both food and atmosphere. It definitely caters to an 'older set' - if you catch my drift. Very family oriented and folks are super nice. It is a good stop for a reliable decent meal at a reasonable price. I can not believe that people like this place. Over priced, over rated. Terrible service. My boyfriend and I came here once for breakfast and won't ever come back. We got your standard hash browns, eggs, and bacon... how can you mess that up right?! Brookfields messed up the most simple breakfast dish ever. The server we had simply assumed we left her a $15 tip on a meal that added up to be about $24, that is ridiculous. We were waiting around for our change and finally our waitress came over with her tips bag and pulled out our change. I will never recommend this place and I will never come back. read more

I ordered the BBQ chicken salad (can't remember what they call it - something else), and the menu showed under 500 calories with dressing, which I wish was true. Brookfields is the perfect place to stop when you are on your way to North Lake Tahoe or Reno. It is located right behind Shell Gas Station; so, you can get your breakfast and gas up with little travel time. The food was pretty good as a decent price. I had biscuits and gravy over egg which was less than $7. My wife had waffles, sausage, bacon, and egg which was a lot of food for $10. The service was very friendly and fairly fast if you don't get the waffles :) I would definitely stop by here again on my next trip to North Lake Tahoe. read more

Me and my boyfriend found this gem on Yelp. We were in town for a wedding and came across this restaurant before heading back home. It was super busy and we were told we'd be seated in 15 but only 10 minutes. Our waitress, Journey, was on point! Super fast service! We have been coming to Brookfield's for breakfast for about 10 years or so, and every time we come here we had never experienced a bad meal. Our wait staff are alway cheerful and happy to see us. Wow, it's not often i really disagree with yelpers but my experience just wasn't great. I wasn't feeling great so felt like home cooked food. I ordered a grilled cheese and vegetable soup plus the irish stew. The stew was seriously stodgy and the grilled cheese just cheese squares in bread. The inside reminded me of any diner, but I was optimistic. My husband and I came in on a Saturday and waited less then 10 mins to be seated. We ordered and waited for our food which came out timely. I love this place for many reasons! Friendly staff always brings what i order in a timely manner and we're alway seated quickly even with a big party. Good breakfast, try the cinnamon rolls! This is a bit of a hidden find in a solid family restaurant. I mean family in that it is affordable and quality food. Happy Hour is throu h hour the restaurant which is spacious. Quick polite and attentive staff bring your experience full circle. I like this place. We each had the sandwich and soup combo at 2:30 in the afternoon. 3 beer for $9 and $8 meals. First time here my boyfriend had pancake, eggs and bacon. The pancake wasn't fully cooked and tasted like the batter. I did tell the waitress who offered to bring a new one but after the taste of raw batter no thanks. I had huevos rancheros I will say that the tortilla was so soggy you couldn't tell it was a tortilla and the egg was very watery runny the potatoes were very soft and soggy. This a great place to eat! The food is always hot & delicious, and priced just right. The staff are always nice and very helpful. The only negative comment I have is that because of the way the building is built it can get very noisy in there when they have big noisy groups. Also, my sister and I are gluten free and this is ONLY restaurant we have found that actually has good GF items on the menu that taste good, and the wait staff know what gluten free means. This is the ONLY restaurant where I can get a real hamburger on a GF bun with french fries that are also GF! We drive 16 miles just to eat at Brookfields. You need to eat here. If I could rate this place 10 stars I would! Such a clean and bubbly establishment. Everyone was so happy and eager to help us! Me and my husband both regularly come to Brookfields for breakfast, but today prime rib sounded good to us so we thought "hey why not try Brookfields prime rib" and oh my gosh we don't regret that! Our server really talked highly of it, I believe her name was danielle. She got us to try it with mushrooms an blue cheese and a loaded baked potato. My goodness it couldn't have been anymore delicious. We had never had danielle, but we have seen her around. She definitely made our trip to Brookfields one of a kind. I ate at brookfields for the first time the food was like good home cooking food. I had soup and cornbread the cornbread is delicious. My husband had the pot pie which he said was delicious. The service is very fast, we had our food in about 5 minutes, and they are constantly filling up your drinks so you are never without a drink. I really liked the service, and the food.
