First and foremost the food was great, presentation was on point! The Summer Burrata was a fabulous starter to share, I'm like a broken record but this was really presented well and taste was amazing, very well rounded. You make your own bruschetta toast but don't skip any thing on the plate! My MIL and I both ordered the Short Rib Barbacoa, the mashed potato's flavor and texture was perfect the roasted peppers and onions cooked to perfection and the short ribs were falling apart with tenderness and yet holding together prior to eating. The rub on gave it the perfect amount of kick and savory flavor while the peppers onions balance it out with a slightly sweet reduction. My aunt got the Rosemary chicken, she said it was very good and it looked like it was. I will be trying that next. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. A couple of caveats that I'm sure will be noted for the future as this place deserves to stay. First it was lunchtime I almost didn't think they were open and the hostess wasn't at the reception desk, also the parking lot looked empty (1:30pm). Maybe parking some cars out front to look more inviting as we almost left based on it looking empty. The thought that nobody was there couldn't be a good sign. Second the hard rock/heavy metal music was too loud (we would've had to be yelling to talk to each other over the table to hear) and it gave more of the bar atmosphere. After asking a couple of times the volume was adjusted and music was changed. Lastly their were a few items that they were out of, that would be helpful knowledge prior to making our menu selections and being disappointed when we could t order them. I will definitely be back, I hope this restaurant succeeds as historically this has been a tough location for restaurants. read more

This place is alright. Was there on Saturday mid afternoon. There was an engagement party that was the focus of attention, but they took care of my party of eight. The place has a veried menu from burgers to fish tacos. Everything was good and the waitress worked hard for us. A nice alternative to a crowded sports bar to catch college football on Saturday. Was here for a Memorial service. Not actually the kind of place I'd expect to have one of these, but there you go. Nothing too clever to say about the place, though everything was pretty good. Had the "House" Old-Fashioned and although it was a brief iteration, it was tasty. I had Sea Bass and Wife had Roasted Pork. Both came with veggies and potato. Nothing for the championship, but not terrible either. Dessert was cheesecake. This place is too near one of our faves-Greek Islands in Lombard, IL, so the chances of me driving past the Hellenic Mothership to dine here are scant; but I imagine their regular fare isn't off the mark. read more

Brooks has been our place since it opened in 2018-2019. We've introduced Brooks to a lot of our friends/family, and everyone has always had a great experience and has gone back. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and never too loud. The host, waiters/waitresses/bartenders are friendly and observant, food is always fantastic, the drink menu is vast, and the weekly specials are pretty good, too. However, within the past 6-months/year or so, their menu now "changes seasonally," and it disappoints us and our friends every time we go. I understand changing a menu seasonally, but the items we loved weren't necessarily seasonal items-- their French fries were the absolute BEST (we'd meet with friends for drinks and fries-- they were SO good!!), the Cubano sandwich, pork belly Caesar salad with a sunny side egg on top, gyro tacos, just to name a few. French fries and a Caesar salad aren't seasonal... Why the change? We would go to Brooks expecting some of our favorite items (that have been on the menu since it opened), and the dishes or sides that we loved are suddenly off the menu and they're unable to accommodate/recreate the items. We've brought this up to our waitresses and bartenders, and we've been told these items are not coming back. Huge disappointment. While I appreciate Brooks for trying and adding new things to their menu, I hope Brooks considers keeping some of the old favorites, too. read more

I had a very nice time at restaurant. Most of their menu actually isn't stuff I'd want to eat, but what I had was all very well done. I stopped in with a friend for happy hour and we tried a few things; the happy hour is something like 4-6, so that was excellent. I love pierogies and don't have them often. They were good--but for three perogies, given their price ($7), I wouldn't order them again. My dining partner ordered the happy hour burger. He ordered it medium well and said it was great. The items on their menu are sans sides, so they must be ordered separately. He ordered fries. The fries were especially good; I don't know why but they sure were. They were crispy and salted to perfection (in my opinion). It also was a good size side. I ordered the picadillo tacos, and while I wasn't sure what I might get it was a larger entree than I expected, particularly for happy hour. There were three huge tacos. The tacos themselves weren't spicy at all, in my opinion, but they came with a side of a green salsa that added a bit of heat. Very good. Nice combination of textures and tastes. Our server was courteous and made sure we were attended to, but not there all the time to interrupt. He also came by to make sure we got drinks ordered before happy hour ended, which I very much appreciated, and he was knowledgeable about the menu. They had a cool cocktail menu, and I tried The Tiki Feel and a Filthy Cherry. Both the drinks I had were good but the the tiki one was my favorite. The restaurant doesn't have a lot to dampen sound, so it can be pretty loud. There was a party in the room kind of suited for private parties, but not a lot of people in the rest of the restaurant, and even with just them it was somewhat loud. The bathrooms are located right at the front of the restaurant. That's a nice plus for people who have mobility issues, especially. The bathrooms were also spic and span, which I appreciate! Parking was trickier than I expected for a suburban restaurant with a parking lot surrounding it. It shares the lot with an Arthur Murray dance studio and maybe a salon or something, and there are several spaces that are specifically marked as being for those customers only. I suppose if you're there later then those businesses are closed and it might not be an issue, but I don't know the hours so I err on the side of caution. I've saved the best bit for last. What would make me come back here even with nothing else is the dessert. We had the Brooks Banana Bonanza, and wow. It was unbelievable. If you don't like banana you'll need to stay away from it, because we're not talking about just a hint of banana here. I thought the waffles sounded weird when I read it on the menu, but went with it and they are the perfect complement to the rest of it, because they are a bit crisp, so a nice contrast to the bananas and ice cream. I was really blown away by it--this is the best dessert I've had in a long time. read more

Entrees and service have left something to be desired the few times we've been here. The only reason we came here more than once was because we could not remember having tried it the first time. If you haven't made it over to Brook's for the Oktoberfest menu, run, don't walk, and get your German on! We had the sausage platter, and I'm somewhat of a sausage connoisseur.... Delicious! Comes with three types of sausage; brat, currywurst and some other type I cannot remember but they were all delicious. Comes with mashed potatoes , sauerkraut, mustard and grilled onion. Portion size is enough for 4-5 meals!! I think the menu is only there until the first week of October. Weather is perfect also for outdoor patio seating. I really enjoyed my first visit to Brook's. I will say the service was pretty slow, I think they were understaffed for the day but the food we ordered was good and was served at temp. We started off with the Italian beef eggrolls that were served with au jus on the side and this was phenomenal! If you don't order anything else make sure you order these! The egg rolls was filled with perfectly seasoned Italian beef and bits of pepperoncini peppers. They were perfectly fried and absolutely delicious. For our main courses I chose the jerk chicken while the other person chose the Baja fish tacos. The jerk chicken was OK. It definitely was not authentic it seemed like baked chicken that was sprinkled with jerk blend and then topped with a sweet and spicy chunky salsa. It was tasty although I definitely wouldn't order this if you are looking for Jamaican jerk chicken. The fish tacos were solid, not the life changing, but not a bad dish either. For dessert we had the churro donut stack and this could have been PHENOMENAL, except the oil was not very hot and was dirty. The donuts took on too much oil (sign it was not hot enough) and the donuts had a little bit of a dirty oil after taste. This would have been perfectly outstanding if it was fresh oil at temp that they were fried in. It was a great dough, cinnamon sugar on the donuts was great and with the caramel sauce and whipped cream this could have been great but alas, the oil wouldn't let this be great. Nevertheless, I will be back. There was a lot of interesting apps that I wanted to try and the restaurant also does wine dinners and other events. Check it out if you are in the Oak Brook area. It's a locally owned non-chain restaurant a little off the main area, so that is nice if you don't want to fight the crowds of some of the bigger establishments. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a work day, I was in the mood for some warm comfort food on a rainy dreary day. I had the small 5 oz. Guinness which was perfect because I was heading back to the office. On my server's recommendation I got the short rib barbacoa, it was delicious and just what I needed. The polenta was soft and creamy, the short rib had a sweet and savory sauce that had just enough kick to feel a little spice, and the meat was so well cooked it was falling apart on my fork, very tender. I don't expect every server to be high energy and perky, but he seemed particularly low energy. Also, it took quite a long time to get our check, and then I had to go find him to actually pay it. Just an observation, if you're reqd to wear a mask as waitstaff you should wear it over your nose. Almost all staff wore masks, but without covering their nose. Everything was outstanding! Party of 12 (with 5 kids), and they had no problem accommodating our group. Our server Anthony was everything you want in a server, friendly and attentive. Amazing selection of craft beer (Goose Island Bourbon County on draft!), and the food was delicious. Italian beef eggrolls and the baked goat cheese were the apps that stood out. Came here for happy hour on friday (mon-fri 3-6) at 5 and the place was empty but bar started to fill up as we left. Plenty of parking spaces and it's located off of butterfield rd. We got a garden side salad (simple but nice, fresh dressing), cheese/potato pierogis (delicious and appeared homemade), prime rib slider (good portion of meat and meat was very tender), and burratta (had an amazing balsamic glaze on top). I saw a picture of the lamb stroganoff on Yelp and thought it sounded like something I wanted to try but when we got there, they said it was not part of their seasonal menu this time around. Came here to have Sunday lunch. The interior is spacious and I loved how wide open it felt. There was football on and was thankful they had some nice wide screens for that. Our server was also very friendly. We had the Italian Beef egg rolls as an app. This was our favorite dish of the day. Just like the name would have you guess it's Italian beef wrapped in egg roll wrapper with giardiniera. A nice twist and was tasty. Our server recommended Lamb Stroganoff and Shaved Prime Rib - both were pretty good but really nothing special, maybe slightly overpriced. For dessert we had the churros and the love sundae. While dessert is pretty good at every place I would say this was above average and done well with nice options. Overall it was a nice experience. This place is brand new and smells like it. Not in a bad way. Not very crowded, but word of mouth should take care of that. I had the meat loaf AKA TV Dinner. Comes with Mac and Cheese.
