If you are an RV owner considering having new tires put on, DO NOT use Bruce's tire in Gilroy! Most of the employees here seem to be very helpful (Matt in particular) However, the Manager (Eric) has a huge chip on his shoulder. In full disclosure I did purchase the tires through the Michelin Advantage program (offered through FMCA). What this means is that I paid Michelin directly so Bruce's Tire does not get the same markup they normally would on the tires resulting in less overall margin. I first called and spoke with Matt. Matt said he did not know if they handled the Advantage program but that they did handle National accounts. He asked that I call back to talk to Eric on Monday. Matt did provide me with the estimated pricing for the job in total. When I called and spoke with Eric he confirmed that they did participate in the advantage program. I was driving at the time and was unable to give him my FMCA number. He told me he couldn't just trust that I was a member of the program. I said I understood, but that I had no reason to lie about it and would provide him the information as soon as I could. I explained that the current tires on my coach were 10 years old and that the sidewalls had cracked and his being 19 miles from where I was at was ideal. I then asked him what the date code was on the new tires. He said, "the current tires on your coach are 10 years old and you're worried about the date code on the new tires" (yes, I am!). I called and spoke to Matt Wednesday morning (the day I was scheduled to arrive) confirmed that the tires where there and I asked if I needed to make an appointment. He said they would have the bandwidth to support me and that it wasn't a problem. When I arrived a little after 1pm it was immediately clear that Eric was irritated that I hadn't sent him my FMCA information ahead of time (fair enough, I should have) and he was worried that he wasn't going to get paid for the tires. So I emailed him the detailed instructions from the FMCA website and confirmed that he received them (about 1:30). He asked if I could spend the night in case it took him too long to process the paperwork. At first I objected but then agreed as I didn't really have any other choice. Eric called me at 3:30 and said he tried to call Michelin but they were closed being on the east coast. This is nonsense as Michelin has an after hours number (which I provided) that I called after 7 pm the day prior and spoke with a live person to register my CC (requirement of the program). None the less I agreed to stay in his parking lot so he could handle things first thing in the morning(he said he would call on the way into work). The next morning a little after 8 in the morning i went into the office and asked what the status was. He said he had called and was waiting for a call back (seriously!). A little after 9 while waiting in the parking lot having tires literally hit the side of my coach (the guys were loading the used tires with little room) I finally had enough and called Michelin myself! They called Eric and within 20 min we were in business. Should have called the day prior. When they installed the tires they used self balancing beads from counteract (which is ok). Proper installation involves opening the larger bag, removing the smaller bag with the beads and putting this inside the tire. The larger bag include a valve and self cleaning cap. These guys just tossed the whole mess inside the tire (valve, cap and bag)!! Coach started shaking like crazy as soon as I hit 45 mph. Had to stop at Bruce's tire in Los Banos where they took the tires off and removed the extras from the tires (and remounted the tires properly) These guys where so helpful I wasn't even sure I was at the right place (thanks to George(manager) and Jose(tech)for all the help and Matt for calling ahead for me). read more

Experienced steering issues on H-101 south of Gilroy and pulled over to the nearest exit. Checked for flat tires and front suspension and did not find anything wrong. Called for tow truck service thru my insurance and was provided 3 choices. We picked Bruce's. Informed the tow truck driver to take us to Bruce's Tire and Auto Repair. Tow truck driver mentioned he takes his cars to Bruce's as well. Since it was 4:30 PM by the time we pulled to Bruce's and they close at 5:00 PM. The mechanic noticed right away that one of the rear driver side lug nut was missing and 2 others were loose thus causing the steering issue and it would have been catastrophic if we lost a tire. They waited until I was able to get a rental and they assisted me in unloading things from my pickup truck to the rental pickup. Mechanic was able to fix whatever was necessary to make my pickup roadworthy. Great professional service and reasonable price. Highly recommended. Would not hesitate to use them as my go to place if I live around the area. read more

I tried to schedule an appointment for an oil change and called on three separate occasions throughout the week to schedule for a Saturday. I was informed that they were unsure if they would be open and that they were still working on deciding if it would be worth it to be open on Saturdays. I called Friday afternoon and was again informed that they were unsure if they would be open. Maybe it's just me...but I wouldn't trust someone to work on my car who doesn't even know what the business hours are the next day. read more

I WAS SO HAPPY AND COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH MY TIRE JOB AT BRUCES !! It was an odd situation to begin with I purchased my tires somewhere else but couldn't have them Put on there , everyone was out sick so a friend told me about Bruce's , so I called , didn't think they would help because I didn't purchase there ? But boy I was wrong ! A friendly voice answered Jacob helped me , Carlos met me at my truck the next day I needed a new battery , they fixed me up perfectly everyone there so friendly masked up clean sanitizer everywhere lol I couldn't have felt safer !! Not really a fan of the manager, but some of the other employee's are pretty nice. Had to get some new tires for a relative's car and they offered competitive prices and you can have the alignment done on site (which is not an option at America's Tire). We put the tires one and were good to go. Next, I took my car new rear tires. Seems like it wasn't worth the manager's time and he was not nearly as helpful. The manager seems really helpful, but when the work is done and some follow-up is needed, his attitude changes and he acts as if he doesn't have the time and your time is just not that valuable, which is odd since one of his big selling points is that they are a family-owned business. Probably will be going back to America' Tire for my next service. read more

When I called back to ask why I was charged so much over MSRP, they told me "That's just the way it is. We mark up the parts after our local supplier marks them up as well." read more

My tires were low, and I put air in them and the next day my light came on. So I worried that I had a nail in my tire. So when my friend Eric suggested that I stop by for a courtesy check, I did, and let them know that when we checked it it didn't seem like the tire pressure was low. Come to find out that if you over inflate your tires, that can also make your tire pressure light come on. (Ooops!). So they got everything squared away for me, and I was on my way. I have previously bought tires from them twice, and have always been happy with the customer service there! read more

After 13,848 miles on brand new Toyo M154 tires on our RV, I can say I am very happy with Eric's recommendations and the work done by Bruce's Tire in Gilroy. We bought the tires in April 2013 and drove around the US for a year, never had a single issue. The cost was competitive and they were knowledgeable. I picked up the RV six hours later (I was not in a rush for them to complete the work) and left very satisfied. The new tires felt as good, if not better than the previous tires. A few weeks after the tires were installed, I brought the RV in to have them remove the driver's side hub cap. The passenger hub cap had been damaged prior to us buying the RV and I had found a cheap set of truck hub caps which looked good. I was unable to remove the heavy duty wheel bolts and Bruce's Tires was quick and popped off the old cap at no charge or stress. I recently stopped in Bruce's Tire to have them top up the tire pressure on my car. They turned around the work in minutes, very happily helping me out as I started to drive my car on a 900 mile trip. read more

Hands down the best shop around. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They didn't try and oversell unnecessary stuff to me. They took the time to explain things to me as I am not car savvy. They also keep you in the loop along way letting you know how much longer your car will be. I've come here about three times now since 2010. I found this place when I was living in gilroy. I now live in San Jose, and still make the drive because I know I'm in excellent hands. I will continue to come here for years to come. Been going to Bruce's Tire for about 2 years now and I can say I will no longer be going to this horrible shop. I went in a couple days ago for a oil change and I was there for about almost 2 hours. Yes I understand an oil change takes about 45mins to 1 hour but what I didn't like was while I was waiting in the waiting room I could hear Robert talking to his assistant Ray about how shitty his staff were basically talking bad about his crew! I couldn't believe it. I also heard him say that they were so unorganized up front, he would rush his crew to finish with their jobs ASAP then he would walk back into the office and go on his phone along with Ray talking about who was gonna buy lunch & not once did I see him go out there to help his crew out. So this goes out to Robert, instead of just complaining and complaining about how slow your crew is maybe help out next time and work as a team! read more
