Wife wanted a bagel for her birthday and she picked up her free Starbucks coffee next door. It was empty inside and they had a rule about not hanging out inside too long which I thought was interesting. There is a soda fountain so maybe that is why? They want you to eat and leave. Not work there all day like a Starbucks. Color tones inside are black and brown. Don't know if that is helpful. Ordered some bagel sandwiches and they were steaming hot which is fun on a rainy & cold day. I love the everything bagel and I think they put a lil salt in it which makes it even more delectable. Selected bacon as my meat and it was fine. Felt microwaved, but what do you expect? Wife ordered the farmhouse and they sold out of the hash brown bagel so she opted for the cheese bagel. Brueggers is my favorite bagel joint and I was in town and came to this location to redeem my free bday bagel, only to find out at the register they now scam you and make you purchase something else to redeem it. To me seems it defeats the purpose of the bday gift they were treating you to, but also not this locations fault corporate took away the one reward they give away. I debated taking the time to leave a review since this place stole so much from my day already. I went in this morning for a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and to try the honey walnut cream cheese (recommended by a friend) on the French toast bagel. I got home and we realized the plain bagel had regular cream cheese and there was barely any of the honey walnut cream cheese on the French toast bagel. So I take it back and explain politely to the woman at the counter what was wrong and she looked at the plain bagel like there's nothing wrong with it and throws it away. The guy making the new bagel almost makes the same thing again before I call out to tell him it's strawberry cream cheese not plain. I also tell her there's barely any cream cheese on the other bagel and she says oh each bagel gets 1 scoop but you can add more for $2. After already driving back there I was definitely not spending anymore money at this place. I go back home and the plain bagel is doughy and my friend nearly chokes it's so bad and throws it away. The French toast bagel and honey walnut cream cheese is also just bad at this point after driving around for 30 minutes. Save yourself the headache and get an actually good bagel with good customer service by going 3 minutes up the road to Inglorious Bagels. read more

You can get them plain, toasted, with cream cheese or however you'd like (build your own sandwich). They have chips to buy if you'd like. I went into this establishment to purchase 3 bagels because I had company and I didn't want anymore bagels for myself after she left. My favorite are the cheese bagels which are delicious. Normally 3 bagels are priced at 3.99 plus tax which is fine. I was told that cheese bagels were an additional 80 cents each? Price went up to over 8.00 including tax. Why can't they price bagels for a half doz or full dozen without nickel and dimming you to death. You're better off getting fresh bagels from Costco or Vons without this nonsense. Make sure you go to the retail stores after they're freshly baked. And don't get the cream cheese which is a huge rip off at Bruegger's either. I'm surprised they're still in business! read more

Bagels are great been coming here for 10 years or so and I usually get a bagel with cream cheese and a side of pickle. The cashier was so awful today I came in to buy a variety pack for my family and asked for a pickle on the side and she said she can't do that for me since she can't add a side charge. I've never been charged for one pickle as a side in the entire years I've been a customer here. She then charges me $2 for a pickle the cost for a bag of chips, I just thought this was so lame as a customer that has been supporting brueggers for years over a side of pickles !? read more

Went to Bruegger's on Mother's Day and was told they are now charging $.50 to toast a bagel. At the register the explanation given was that some customers take their bagels home to toast them so charging for toasting was how they decided to recover some of their costs. I'm glad I didn't order an egg sandwich since they would probably have charged extra to cook the eggs and slice the tomato. Einstein Bagels and Inglorious Bagels are not charging to toast the bagels so I now have new bagel shops. I like Bruegger's food and location but can't shop where I don't agree with their policies. read more

This bagel has a great exterior, kettle boiled- shiny crust and the interior has a very nice chew unlike other places. I have had bagels that taste too much like bread. These bagels always taste freshly made. They have several good cream cheese flavors. My go to - onion bagel toasted with onion & chive. The service here is always quick, the staff is super efficient and VERY hard working. I'm happy to see the same employee faces often. I can easily see what others do not like about this store. Unlike Ladera or Aliso Viejo locations, where customer care matters and you can feel it, there's a definite lack of warmth here. Store was empty at 6:30a on Wednesday. In OC this meant half-off dozens but not here. They had some discount but I can't recall what it was. Asked for all bagels sliced and got lots of too-thick tops with thin, cracker-like bottom - I have no patience for that lack of care...especially when I'm the only one there. But also would not be acceptable if 10 customers were there. They do have a sign in front letting you know you have 20 minutes to eat and get the heck out which is absolutely absurd when the whole store is empty. If you have food or drink from this store you should be entitled to linger. It's extremely off putting knowing you're on their clock. It's bagels and cream cheese but you're paying restaurant prices. Do not be stingy with your customers! Still though, it's the best bagel anywhere and their cream cheese selection is great. Good coffee and fresh OJ. I love this bagel place so much, I've been going for years and they have my favorite bagels of any other bagel place. I usually get just an everything bagel but my parents get others and they love them. I'm pretty picky so I hate a lot of other bagel places but Bruegger's? The best. The service is very good considering how on some days they get very busy, yes you might have to wait a few extra minutes on a busy day but it's so worth it. Also right when you walk in the smell of fresh bagels is amazing!!! And the art of bagels on the wall adds a cozy affect, they even have a small wall toy area for little kids while waiting for their bagel. The La Costa, CA location: This morning, a 'larger' gentleman helped me. He rushed my order with only two other people in the store, no need to rush. My order was to go. 2/3 bagels were made wrong. Not only were they not what I ordered, but the bagels were not cut straight, barely toasted and uneven spread. So disappointed. We ordered Mother's Day breakfast from here through uber eats, but noticed there was nowhere to indicate "no meat" on the sandwiches. No problem, we placed the order and called to let them know. (Obviously not their fault.) phone rang for 15 minutes so I ended up driving down to let them know before they made it and just get the food myself. The assistant manager was extremely rude about the whole thing, saying they were too busy to answer the phone (with four people in line) and then dramatically placing a chair between us (stating they "don't let people "back" here") when I was standing in the soda machine area...which I found ironic given that some employees didn't have their face masks fitted on correctly, but okay. I think this is the best bagel place in the La Costa area. The staff is really pleasant and they provide good service without any drama. The bagels are solid and they make enough of all the options for both breakfast and lunch so you have choices even later in the day which I expect. I really like their fresh salmon sandwich. The egg sandwich I recently ordered was so dry as to be inedible-I still have a hard time believing there was cheese on it - and the egg seemed like it had sat for hours. If you are catering a lunch and want to keep it as cost effective as possible you can do worse. The catering packs are cheaper than Panera and are better sammys as a whole. Panera doesn't offer their panini's for catering so you get stuck with their sad cold sammys. This place also is a great option if you are catering a breakfast. They have a variety of egg and bread choices to please just about anyone who wants to start off the morning right. I cannot comment much of their service as I get delivery from here using another service. I will say that I was pretty disappointed when I got their paper plates that it was actually more of a paper basket that you might get at a food truck and so people didn't have room for anything but the sammy. Their cookie plate was very overprices and the cookies were of low quality. If I am paying a premium for cookies I don't want to see a bunch of sugar cookies with sprinkles. Lame. However they are indeed cost effective when catering a simple lunch and I will continue to use them. I will never order their cookie plate again though, I could have faired better by going to a 7 11 and getting candy bars! Ugh! read more
