Stopped in to grab a sandwich for lunch, and the place was filthy. The staff used a knife to cut the bagel and wiped cream cheese off the knife onto a dirty filthy rag. There's only a few booths to sit in.... ? The floors were filthy, and the place just looks like it should be closed down. They may be understaffed, which might be part of the problem, I have no clue, but I definitely won't be returning! We had to wait for our food, and then we saw people who were behind us, leaving with their food. We had to walk up and ask for our food, which was just sitting there. read more

Tried to order bagels the night before for Christmas Eve day to pick up by phone was told to use app so I did. Order them at 6am.christmas eve because it wouldn't let you order a day ahead. Got to the store in Clifton Park, NY and they ran out of bagels didn't have my order not even on paper... Had to wait over a half and hour for my order and had to substitute because they didn't have what I wanted. Disorganized, place. East Greenbush NY that wouldn't have happened. But I live close to the one in Clifton Park so why should nI have traveled...hmmm Bagel place shouldn't run out of bagels.. like a hamburger place running out of hamburgers. Poor management. The everything bagels were way to salty, the guy that made our bagels was VERY heavy handed when putting cream cheese on the bagels, and he was VERY rude. He clearly did not want to be there and needs to work on his customer service. All the ladies were friendly it was just the bald guy with glasses that was rude. Turned me off of the whole place. They were also in the middle of renovating... there were big framed pictures just laying all over the restaurant, which is a safety hazard. Will not be returning. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because I have loved Brueggers for so many years that I can't just give 1 star. I'm sad. I went on Saturday to get bagels for Easter Sunday. They have a new ordering system which is fine I guess, but I don't think it was helpful for them. There were 3 people in front of us in line, and about 3 waiting by the wall. It was 11:30 AM. We ordered a bakers dozen of plain bagels, along with 3 sesame and 3 everything. Then we ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and 1 breakfast sandwich with avocado. I say all this just to show it's not that complicated an order. It took 45 minutes for the order to be ready. It took so long that the woman in front of us just left her order because it took so long. My sandwich had no avocado, which I paid extra for, and the bagels were not completely done so as to be so doughy I could not serve them for Easter brunch. What a disappointment. Oh how the very might have fallen. Brueggers was the absolute BEST, but not anymore. :(. Update - I did exactly what the manager Robert B said to do. I reached out to Brueggers directly with my concerns right after he posted his comment in response to my review. Within the hour. I really want my experience to be an anomaly. But nope. I've ordered from here a few times for delivery and pickup and the sandwiches are so good for the price! But the consistency for speed and correctness of order, they are lacking. This place really has potential if they just whipped the staff into shape. I had a colleague in the past who ended up working there as a manager and the staff their lack structure and leadership and my colleague is no longer there. I don't think managers last but you can see it in the quality of service. They have a good lineup menu and good prices and I love that. Just need to figure of work environment IMO. (This one happens to be the closest to work) -Wait in a short line for a long time. -Still wait in line while observing the disorganized employees bump into each other. -Finally! My time to shine. Order away to the uninterested Bruegger's employee and hope they remember. -While you're waiting for them to slop that sandwich/bagel/salad together, feel free to browse through the overpriced juice. Summary- Not great not bad bagels with decent coffee at a chaotic location that can be a real disaster service wise. Food- 2.5 Stars OK kinda small kinda goy bagels. For me they usually lack the critical texture differential between outside and inside, so they kinda fail. Sometimes they are better in this regard than others, and I am also super picky about this. I want them to be super chewy outside and damn near pure airy fluffiness inside with some substance. Much of this has to do with timing, bagels have a SUPER short shelf life, and Brueggers are much better when the "HOT" sign is still out. Their cream cheese is good, their sandwiches are fine. When you get a breakfast sandwich as asked for it toasted, they make the sandwich and then run it through the toaster. I would much rather have the bagel toasted then have it assembled, I will have to ask for this next time. Service- 1 Star As noted by others, this place is a operations management disaster area. Other reviews pretty much cover it. I am not so much worried about speed, although they need that too, as I am the general confusion and lack of a consistent process. Employees range from disinterested to rude to nice, sometimes all in a given visit. Atmosphere- 3 Stars Fine for a bagel place. Value- 2 Stars OK, nothing great. The Assistant Manager, who was trying to prepare my sandwich, burnt it. Some cheese dripped on the grill, which cause a minor fire and I saw that. When I asked him if the sandwich is burnt, he lied to my face saying no, it was OK. I brought it home, and indeed it was burnt. Would probably give 3.5 stars but I'll be generous :) I grew up in the area and I went a lot as a kid into high school. I always liked the bagels here. Granted, they are no Nyc bagels, but they are pretty good. They are a good size and I happen to love the cc there. It's thick and has a distinct taste. I love the flavors they have too!!! They have cucumber dill, honey walnut, and a few other good ones. You can buy a small container of cc to take home too. I've never had bad service when I've gone. There is a large seating area. The employees (bless their hearts) try but the bagel are what you go there for. Nothing to get overly excited about and do not under any circumstance arrive before 7 am...they have barely a selection to choose from. Then, when it comes to the cream cheese....they barely give you enough to work with (make sure to grab a knife on the way out, you'll need it to make a miracle of getting the little they give you all over the 4 pieces)! This was my first trip to a Brueggers, and I made sure to read previous reviews, so I knew that this place's service may or may not be the best. What motivated me to go here was a coupon I received in my email for three free bagels on 06 February. I figured that free food would override the possibility of bad service. I arrived at about 650AM, so the store hadn't been open for an hour yet. The point of me mentioning this is that the store should have still had a decent stock of everything. However, I discovered that there weren't many of each bagel on the shelves, which seemed counter-intuitive for a store that knew there was a massive free bagel promotion happening one day only. I waited in line behind a middle-aged man who got a dozen bagels, and he was practically rushed through his ordering process by the short elderly woman taking his order. She didn't seem keen on saying please or thank you, and neither was the chubby brunette cashier. When it was my turn to order the elderly woman expressed the same curt tone and abruptly asked, "What do you want?" as if I was inconveniencing her. I chose the onion, garlic, and everything flavors. Luckily, the bagels tasted fairly good, and they were toasted decently, so at least the product here passes the test. When I got to the cashier she was equally as curt and asked, "Anything else?" without even looking me in the eye. When I said no she maintained her aversion of eye contact and rudely said, "K, you're all set.". Pros: The bagels are decent. I'm not Jewish and therefore not a self-declared bagel aficionado, but the product was fresh, warm, and not stale. Good enough for me. Cons: The service here sucks. The personnel are rude and clearly hold high disdain for their jobs. By the way, since I feared the customer service might be lacking, I took advantage of New York's one-party-consent law with respect to voice recordings and carried my digital voice recorder in my jacket pocket, so the whole experience is on tape. I hope the manager reads this and decides to be a little more proactive with his/her employees henceforth. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I contacted Brueggers' customer service department online and was emailed by the area manager first (Tim Neider). He was very condescending in his exchange with me, so it was turned over to the franchise owner (Ken Greene) who made it clear that he does not care about effectively training his employees to act properly. I asked him why his store is in such disarray, especially since there have been so many negative reviews, but he refused to answer the question and only cited that he has been the store owner for 27 years. read more

Will not be back! Rudest customer service I have ever received. I received an email coupon for three free bagels. Although I have had a couple bad experiences with this bagel shop in the past very similar to the one I am writing about now I decided to give them another try since it has been a while since my last visit. I walked in went right up to the counter and the older woman working there just glared at me, no good morning, can I help you etc. I greeted her with a good morning and informed her I had a coupon for three free bagels. Her only response was "well what do you want?" Her demeanor and tone of voice was very rude. I said to myself well ok and shook it off but not a great way to start the morning. I asked if anything was still warm, apparently a question they hate. She snapped at me and said "just the plain". I ordered two of those one of which turned out to be beyond burnt. Even the inside was a very dark color. We could hardly cut through it much less eat it. I then went to the register and showed the manager who was checking me out the coupon on my phone. She very sternly said to me. " I will take this coupon from you this one time but next time make sure you print it out" I pointed out to her that not only does it not state that on the coupon it gives the cashier instructions on taking a mobile coupon with a plu code. She said "well we don't take plu codes". I feel this is something she may want to bring up with the corporation and not the customer. She said "well I will take it this time but after make sure you delete it". I am sure she didn't want me back trying to scam another three bagels with the same coupon which was only good that morning anyway. At this point I wanted to order a beverage but I felt this would upset her even more so I passed. After I was just sent away with a dirty look. No thank you or anything at all. I can't believe she is the manager. Very bad experience, no coupon could make me return. To add behind the counter and especially in the area where they prepare the bagels was very dirty. What kind of dressing would you like on your Caesar salad? How about Caesar? Nope - we don't have that. Tables were dirty and people were stepping in the food that was dropped on the floor. Coffee milk pitchers were empty. Just all kinds of things going wrong here. But the ladies are very kind. I'll go back to pick up bagels on a Sunday morning. Bagels were at one time an essential part of my college diet. Years later, they have become a once in awhile treat on the weekends when I need to get somewhere early. Being that they are a treat, I expect a lot from my bagel and Bruegger's rarely dissappoints. Bruegger's offers a wide variety of bagels and cream cheeses and even proudly shows which ones are hot out of the oven. Yum. There is nothing like a good hot, fresh bagel slathered with cream cheese. All I can say is wow. This is not just the worst bruegger's I have ever been to, this is the worst bagel shop I have ever been to! Every few months I think to myself that surely management has fixed the issues at this location but the answer for over a year now is that nope they continue to outdo themselves at being completely awful. I have never bothered to write a review for anything but this place is the worst. Today I walk in as the only customer in the entire restaurant and stand at the bagel counter for about a minute while the two employees carry on a non work related conversation. They finally take my order while seeming annoyed that they are actually having to work. Two bagels one with veggie cream cheese and the other with plain. One of the employees is about to cut into the wrong type of bagel.... I stop him and repeat the order as nicely as I can he says okay. They then ask me to repeat my extremely small and basic order 3 times over the course of 5 minutes. Sure no problem as long as they get it right... but nope they still gave me the wrong kind of cream cheese! Keep in my there was nobody else in the restaurant! They had 3 employees to one customer and still messed up the order! Something along these lines happens everytime I go here and based on the fact the place is basically empty everyday I'm sure it's not just me. It really is unbelievable how terrible this location is! I used to go here when I was a kid and it was great. Now I really would only go here when I don't want to wait in line at one of the two far better bagel places right across the street. You are pretty much limited on where to get a bagel in Clifton Park. With that being said Bruegger's is OK. I love bagels but I wish Bruegger's were a tad bigger. They do cook them perfectly nice crunchy exterior with a nice soft interior. The staff here is pretty much a joke. They need to figure out a system that works for getting the customer in and out in a hurry. The day I went, on a Saturday early afternoon, the line wasn't too bad. I ordered a simple breakfast sandwich it took way too long to get it. They were actually grabbing bagels off the conveyor belt that were behind my sandwich. WTF? The guy that rang my order out actually had to go over after I said something to him and get my sandwich. I guess if I want to grab bagels only No sandwiches I will go back but I will go to Panera or Price Chopper to get a bagel sandwich from now on. And as for their baked cookies and goodies, Not worth it, you could make something better home out of a box. read more

Horrible customer service. When we got there, there was only ONE person ahead of us in line. I ordered 2 bagel sandwiches and it's as if they completely forgot about us. We waited over 30 minutes for them and the girl at the register (who was very sweet) told the people working that we were waiting for our food THREE times. Poorly run and managed. Slow slow slow service. Years ago I was a steady customer. Then the bagels got smaller and smaller and the prices bigger and bigger. I had a yen for a breakfast bagel this week and figured I'd pay the price and stop in. I was there at 10:30 am. No surprise, as usual, there was a line of four people. One person was making the sandwiches or whatever, slowly! I stood there for 10 minutes and the line didn't move so I walked out. I don't need to wait for 20 minutes for an overpriced bagel. Ok, I gave this review five stars when I initially reviewed it. I went back in yesterday and some adjustments had to be made. I walked in and there was couple in front of me and four people behind the counter. I stood there waiting for several minutes before one of them tore themselves away from gossiping about the fired manager to the couple behind the counter. Grow up, guys. Second, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. I set my expectations accordingly when it comes to the prices, but for those prices, I expect to get what I paid for. When I opened my bagel (and mind you, I was too far to go back, as I was heading home to NYC), my bagel didn't even have a smear of cream cheese-it was as though they just ran the spreader of cream cheese over the bagel without putting cc on it first. There was nothing on it. I was pretty upset because it was clear he was more interested in focusing on the conversations around him then getting a customers order correct. The older woman working the register was lovely, but I felt sorry for her as she worked with a lot of immature kids who were more concerned with gossiping than waiting on customers. Hopefully the firings didn't end with the manager because quite a few of the children behind the counter should get the boot and be replaced by young adults who can actually put what they are getting paid to do ahead of acting immaturely with their friends in front of waiting customers. Oh, and as far as not paying the employees enough: that doesn't excuse employees treating customers like garbage. I worked at this very Brueggers and the job is EASY. It's an entry level job and in the real world, you get paid an entry level salary for entry level work. read more

A bit disappointed. I had gone in for a bagel and the poor girl, the only one working the bagels was so overwhelmed. I felt so bad for her. The two customers in front of me were doing their best to reassure her and let her know she was doing just fine. The older gentleman on register appeared in his own bubble and he nor the gentleman in the back could stop a few minutes to assist the growing line behind us. As someone that has worked in the service industry for over twenty years, a word of advice .... "Teamwork makes the dream work!" I lived out of state for a year and was so excited to return to my favorite bagel shop. I had missed a good NY bagel. I was sad to see the shop not quite the same and misdirected. I applaud the young lady working the bagels this morning. She truly was doing a great job and doing the best she could under the circumstances.
