Best brunch spot on Lake Michigan by far. Service was top tier and the food was even better. We went on a Sunday afternoon in July, so a reservation is definitely recommended just to avoid a long wait (even though any wait is worth the food here). Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She made sure to check on us various times throughout our meal, which was greatly appreciated. You have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Which is nice depending on your parties preference. Food exceeded my expectations. Great variety on the menu. It was delicious and fairly priced. Would definitely recommend checking out the Brunch House on your family vacation or just on a weekend getaway to the coast. The best brunch spot in Muskegon, hands down! We went early on a Saturday with our two kids (3yr and 2 months). They sat us right away and even provided a sling for the baby carrier. We didn't even know these things existed! From there, it just got better. Our server was very kind, patient with our toddler, and attentive. All of the staff seemed wonderful. Anyways, here's how the food went: House Bloody Mary - this thing is a meal in itself. Comes with a crispy waffle coated in a sweet crispy crust, a chicken tender, and the usually veggies. The flavor of each component was on point. Not sure what mix they use, but it was just the right amount of spicy and savory. Southwestern Benedict - my wife had this and absolutely loved it. I tried it as well and it was on point. Not too spicy, but full of avocado flavor with a hint of jalapeño. I would probably get this the next time I go. Banana bread French toast - my 3 yr old had this. It's actually real homemade banana bread that has been coated and fried like French toast, served with sliced caramelized bananas and whipped cream. It was a monstrous portion, but we all really enjoyed this. Oh, and they served it with warm maple syrup!! Finally, the A.M. Smashburger - I was in the fence about ordering a burger for breakfast thinking most places use preformed patties. Not here. The coffee run on the burger was absolutely superb. The burger was a greasy mess (as a smashburger should be) but surprisingly the coffee rub really came through. I still dream about this burger and would love to know what the coffee rub is. It's really worth a try. So, if you're from Muskegon or just visiting, definitely stop by Brunch-House! Oh, and all of the above items plus a large OJ was only $54!!! I have been to Brunch House a few times this summer, and it has quickly become my go-to for an enjoyable and delicious brunch. I have limited experience with the menu, as I found something I loved on the first visit and can't push myself into ordering something different yet. The Power Grain Bowl is a perfect mix of crunchy grilled veggies like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, carrots and bell pepper with hearty grains like quinoa, orzo, barley, lentils and brown rice. A subtle vinaigrette is added for a little acidity. They top it with eggs cooked to order--in my case poached, and I have to say the kitchen knows how to perfectly poach an egg. My son got a traditional American breakfast, which was very good. My daughter got chicken and waffles, and man it looked amazing: golden fried chicken tenders and a great big, golden waffle. My wife got a chorizo scramble and really enjoyed it. At some point I've got to try the Ferrero Cakes--pancakes (or maybe crepes?) with Nutella, banana and strawberries.... Mmm. It is also worth mentioning that all of the fruit I have had here is fresh, ripe and delicious. Portion sizes are generous but not ridiculous. Prices are fair and comparable to other moderate to higher end brunch places. Plan on spending way less than brunch at a Cheesecake Factory for food that is so much better. Best to check Yelp before going and put yourself in queue early, as it gets REALLY busy especially on weekends. They have a lot of seating both in and outdoors. The Brunch House is a great spot for a more "upscale" breakfast/brunch experience. I say this because it is not your typical breakfast menu. There are some "normal" breakfast options, but they have very creative options as well. We sat out in the heated inclosure and it was a little warm out there, but it was still nice with the many windows. I started with the mimosa flight. My favorite flavor was the mango pineapple habanero mimosa. I also ordered one of their specials, which was a cranberry grilled cheese. The bread was so fresh and crispy. Loved the Gouda cheese, Brussels sprouts, and cranberries. It was a super fresh and flavorful grilled cheese. Our table also split the special of the Christmas tree cake pancakes and wow did they taste like the little Debbie Christmas tree cakes. It was so rich and sweet and delicious. The atmosphere was nice and quaint and they have a covered patio if you like to dine outside. The prices are relatively cheap compared to Chicago too. The interior definitely has that clean, modern aesthetic with a lot of plants and geometric decorative fixtures. We were lucky to snag a spot with minimal wait time after a group of 8 canceled (we were a party of 10). I had the southwestern skillet with a side of pancakes and it was delicious! 1 star for owner, Nick. Today we experienced a traumatic event on the patio of Brunch House. A table of customers were continuously cursing while our 4 & 5 year old sat within arms distance. Once it got louder, my husband kindly asked them if they could stop. The woman doing most of the cursing kindly understood but the man at the table began threatening my husband acting like he was going to fight, saying "F those kids", talking of how he was going to make mf'ers there throw up. Employees got involved and handled the situation as well as possible which we appreciated however they were also treated extremely badly. The people were escorted out as quickly as possible (10-15 min) and without paying. Our server did everything she could to make our experience great but the vibe out of brunch was killed after someone threatening us. I wasn't hungry and honestly was just in a bit of shock about the situation ESP that this man was attacking my innocent kids. We had ordered previous to the situation happening. I didn't take a bite of the food, I wasn't hungry after everything. Our server apologetically delivered our bill. It obviously felt awkward for everyone given the situation. I was upset to be given the full bill given our situation. I was happy to tip our waitress but felt like some recognition of it was appropriate. I stepped inside and emotionally spoke with the manager who was INSANELY kind, understanding and he shared he would make our bill a penny so we could take care of our waitress. Within a few minutes, owner Nick came out. This was the first time he had come to see us. He did not check on us anytime after the event happened (almost the entire time there) but just came over to discuss the bill. He shared that he spoke with the other manager and said that the food had been ordered and served so they would need to be compensated. He apologized for the situation but was unemotional and tone deaf on the situation (I'm red faced and blotchy at this point from crying), how emotional things had been prior and really seemed to overall have a lack of understanding of the situation but was rather coming out just to correct what his manager had said. I then shared I would sharing this experience online given the prior discussion with the manager and he quickly changed his tune. He returned back and later showed up with the agreed up $0.01 check. I wasn't going to share this experience until I realized Nick was the owner. Nick needs to take some notes from his manager on great customer service and some leadership coaching on not undermining your staff. We were put in an unsafe situation in his restaurant and so were our kids. I fully understand that this is not the normal atmosphere. This was beyond anyones control besides the harassers but the logic that we ordered food and it was delivered despite being harassed& threatened inside your restaurant and should pay the full bill is not only bad customer service but discounts what happened. We won't be back. I do want to shout out to the rest of the staff - I hope Nicks leadership is better for you bc you are all wonderful! read more
