I love coming to Bruxie! I have been going to the Orange location for years and I came to the Brea location to meet a friend for lunch. I am trying to eat healthier, so I tried their grilled chicken and mushroom salad. It's a generous portion of chicken, mushrooms, in a large leafy salad of romaine and arugula. The dressing was a lemon vinaigrette, which was very nice. Service is consistent and friendly. This is a cool spot, with an indoor / outdoor patio area in the heart of Downtown Brea. After a hungry day of practice early in the morning, Bruxie was one of the few places to be open at 10AM where I could try to find some nice savory food. As per my own rule of thumb, if everything looks good (and everything looked really tasty on the menu), I go and try what they call to be their own (things like the original, food with their name on it, etc.). Their original chicken sandwich: A solid 9/10. The skin was nicely seasoned and flavorful, packing a nice crunch going through, while the inside was juicy and tender, just how I love my sandwiches. What made it taste even better was their chili mayo that comes with it! It provided such a nice sweet contrast to the saltiness of the meat while also not being too overbearing. The cole slaw I would say was basically just added in for visual appeal and color. It did not taste like anything special at all but you are coming in for chicken and not cole slaw so take that as you will. But I love Bruxie and have been going for years since they had the location in Orange. So I can't go below 4 stars. After more than a year I finally went with the family to the Brea location. I just went there for lunch. I know it's memorial weekend and it's busy but they need to be more efficient. I was 5th in line when I walked up. It' took 20 minutes for me to order and another 20 to get my food. The concern I have is the inefficiency in giving drinks and taking the order. Basically there was none. A couple behind me left after 15 minutes because there was barely any movement. The young gentlemen in front of me only wanted to a sandiwch and a drink. I felt for the kid bc he kept repeating himself and the worker just ignored what he kept saying. So he had to repeat it 3x. She kept saying sorry. On a side note I sat next to him and he was upset bc they messed up his order. He didn't want to deal with it so he just ate it. Our food was better than I remember. Got the OG, tenders and the banana Nutella waffle. The Carolina bbq sauce had a great bite that you felt at the back of your throat and the honey mustard was solid. So decided to stop by Bruxie's in Brea for lunch and it was a good call! First of all, the cashier was super friendly. I decided to order the Chicken&Waffles combo since I was pretty hungry and can definitely finish a big cheat meal. They had a nice outdoor seating area in the restaurant and a huge communal tent set-up also for outdoor dining. We sat in the tent area for about 10 minutes before they called my order and I was pleasantly surprised about the portion. I felt like they gave me more food than other Bruxie locactions I have been to. They also give you these boxes that you can easily utilize for outdoor dining. I love this place. I've been coming here for the last decade or so. I like how they did renovations and spruced up the place. They have savory and sweet options. Anything with crispy yet fluffy waffles and delicious toppings is good in my book. This time I had the original which is their most famous waffle sandwich. Would recommend that. The waffles were cooked to perfection. They have hot sauces at the tables and also you can ask for more syrup and for ranch sauce. My friend had the waffle and chicken and she said that it was good. A tip, their Arnold Palmer is basically the strawberry lemonade and the ice tea- you need to mix those yourself, not sure if it's worth it bc it didn't taste like a typical Palmer and you could have just asked for a regular drink and mixed those yourself and paid less lol. There is free parking in the surrounding structures. Bruxie is my ideal waffle sandwich place because: 1. It's not as greasy or heavy as some of the old-time authentic chicken and waffles locations(which my sensitive stomach is grateful for). 2. The waffle and chicken are always perfectly crispy on the outside with completely cooked, but still moist interiors. 3. THE POTATOES - The fries and tater tots are SO underrated! Talk about the perfectly salted, crunchy crust ratio to potato-y filling!! 4. There are so many more "fresh" options other than fried chicken and waffles (a favorite of mine is the green eggs and ham or the turkey club). I actually don't like their sweet waffles because for some reason, I always choke on the powdered sugar (It doesn't happen to me with powdered sugar donuts, cookies, etc) - not sure if it's just me though! Found my way to the little City of Brea. Was shopping in the center with my wife and dog (don't judge). We got a bit hungry and took a stroll down to the food area. This spot was perfect. I could sit outside with my dog and enjoy a good lunch. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Needed some extra dipping sauce for my strips and brought them to me. Good food. Highly recommend. Part of it is because - on different visits - I have gotten waffles that were slightly soggy, not very warm, or not the crispy on the outside/fluffy on the inside waffles that others have mentioned. I'm still not sure what happened, but I'm not complaining. On the other hand, the Irish nachos were a little disappointing. The fries didn't seem to be too fresh, there wasn't enough cheese or bacon on it. After he had eaten 1/3 of them he found he was out of toppings.
