Had dinner here with some friends a couple of nights ago. Outstanding food -- I had the chicken shish kabob, everybody in my group had something different, everybody thought that everything was great. (I can't stand borscht, but the two people in my group who ordered it said that it was great. Go figure.) The decor is comfortable, heading in the direction of elegant. The service was friendly and gracious -- not smothering, more like dining with family. I literally can't think of anything unflattering to say about them. I don't think they require reservations, but you should call first because (1) I don't think they're open for lunch yet, but that could change, and (2) they close for private parties a lot on weekends. I tried to get into this place pre-COVID and it was almost always super packed so I'm glad I was able to get in today. A friend and I had an absolutely lovely meal. We split everything and the megerilian khachapuri was rich but absolutely lovely - we loved how it was very clearly fresh and made by a loving hand. We were reliving the days from an Eastern European trip from a couple years ago and the food here delivered. We also had the Vareniky, which was AMAZING. If we weren't so full, we would have ordered so much more and even more dumplings. Service here was lovely - multiple servers stopped by and checked in on us regularly but not disruptingly. I can't say what it's like at the restaurant itself; in this time of plague we ordered out. GrubHub delivered not long after, and we promptly dug in. I tried the plov, which was really solid--it had just a teasing kick of what tasted like cumin, and while the sliced beef was a bit on the dry side it didn't detract overall. My wife had the lagman soup, which I only tried a little of but definitely got my approval. I also ordered as sides for us to split both vareniky (which I've had before, but these are on the short list for best I've had) and kasha with mushrooms, which I liked but she feels needs something to help bring it together. As I write this we have a medovik in the fridge waiting for us. Our stomachs are still settling. I can't wait. Neither for it, or the next time we get food from here. EDIT: Update on that medovik. If you don't know what that is, it's a dessert with multiple thin layers of icing and honey-sweetened cake, dusted with fine crumbs. I've had it elsewhere, made it myself multiple times, and jumped at the chance to have someone else do it since it's just a lot of work. The times I've made it the icing has been made of sour cream, whipped cream, and powdered sugar, which balanced out the sweetness of the cake. This one was different. Maybe it's a local variant, maybe it's just a fine-tooled preference; the medovik here is richer and *much* sweeter than the ones I've had before, and had a softness to it that bordered on chewiness. My wife thinks there was cream cheese involved. I'm not complaining at all, and would absolutely have it again and recommend it, but if you had it before at, say, Russian Banya? You would be in for a surprise when you tried it here, and I feel folks should know that going in. read more

We took the whole family and asked Natasha what dishes she would recommend in each category. The food was from Russia, Uzbekistán, Georgia and more. We tried so many dishes with impossible names. If you know your cultural geography, this food is Bucharan. Buchara is a city in Uzbek that is 2 millennia old and right on the silk route. A large portion of Bucharan were Jews going back to the earliest days. Bubala's is fused with a few real Yiddishkeit recipes. Love it! On my most recent trip, my wife and I shared Beef Stroganoff and Stuffed Cabbage aka Prakas from our Austrian and Ukrainian great-grandparents. This is a special place. read more

It had been months since I had Russian food because of Covid so I was SUPER excited to try this place after reopening since my husband is of Soviet decent. The other Russian place with actual good food five miles from this one seems to have shut down permantly (rip Russian Banya). I've never been so disappointed... All the reviews on here must be made by friends/family because this food is waaaaay overpriced and tastes like NOTHING. We spent over $70 dollars and I'm so disappointed. The kebabs were dry and the portion was so tiny. We got one of every dessert and they all tasted stale and old. I get that it's a tough time but don't sell old food! Yuck! The only decent thing were the potato dumplings, but since the service was awful too I'm going to leave it at 1 star. Our waiter helped us choose the perfect meal and gave us some background on his family and what they eat. Loved it and it helped broaden our appreciation. The kompot was refreshing and not too sweet. The kabobs and dumplings were so tender and flavorful. But folks, you HAVE to try the Adjarian Khachapuri!!! Omg, 5 cheeses, the lightest dough, an egg that cooks on top of the hot cheese! Wow! What a very surprise gem in the area. For those of you who aren't familiar, this establishment sells what I guess you can call, for lack of a better word "Pan-Soviet" cuisine. It has most of the Russian classics, but also some foods from the Caucasus nations, and a plethora of dishes from Central Asia namely Uzbekistan. I assume the owners are Uzbek due to a pork free menu and all the Uzbek posters and artwork. The restaurant is welcoming. It looks way more classy and elegant then you think a strip mall joint would look, but is still causal so no need to dress up. Everything here is delicious, especially the various dumplings. Soup, salad, main entrees. It does t matter it's all delicious and nicely presented. Blintzes are very savory, Qutab is nice. Then AdjariAn Kachapuri is popular it seems, but I think it's a bit much. Maybe without the butter it would be better. Makes it salty. For main dishes I like the tabaka (butterflied Cornish hen with a cold smoky tomato sauce) and their Kebabs are wonderful. Very flavorful, tender lamb and a generous portion. Much better then any kebab from any of the Lebanese or Turkish restaurants around here. This place does kebabs right. Try this place out. I live in Kansas City and had heard of Adjaruli Khachapuri but never tried it. This was the only place i could find on Yelp that had it so I stopped in for dinner on my way back from Galveston. The Adjaruli Khachapuri was great! Something different but great. My son and I shared the beef stroganoff and I had tried the vareniky.
