I kept driving by this spot on my trip, and read good reviews on it as well, so naturally I had to try it. Wife and I popped in for dinner about an hour before they closed, so was not lot of traffic and quick to order. If I had to describe this spot, it would be a "Hawaiian Tommy's Burger". The burger with the mustard, onions, and chili was like I was back home in CA. Great quality burger, and great prices. I love spots too where you can sit at the counter and chat it up with the cooks. This place was recommended by a friend who had previously visited. Upon ordering, I was given incorrect change. The cashier acknowledged how much I gave her but still did not understand the exchange. Math is hard. Anyhoo, my Kauai burger was just okay. Good tasting pineapple and teriyaki sauce, but the burger was very small and overcooked. Hubby enjoyed his double and said it appeared way different from mine. We liked the option of frings, but 3 small onion rings were not worth the price. I did like my strawberry banana shake. It was tasty and flavorful. My in laws appeared to enjoy their burgers. I tasted their chili and rice. The chili was good, but not good enough to salvage this dining out experience. I really dislike when you are nickel and dimed for everything (ranch dressing, soda refills, and cheese that I paid for but was missing from my burger) . I reviewed that bubbas burgers in poipu and have it a terrible review. This location however was legit. Great vibe right off beach. Wonderful pleasant lady working the front. I mean for a burger joint in Hawaii this bun as was idyllic. Now for the burger. Got it to go to take on my flight just in case the food in 1st class was bad. Well the burger ended up coming home c with me instead but when I ate it several hours later I have to say it v as really b tasty. I know, in know, but hey. Bubba's is basically In N Out on the island. It's delicious, greasy, and oh so terrible for you. But that's what makes it good. Side portions are a bit small - as a small woman, I could probably eat 2 orders of the onion rings. Burgers are terrific. Lines are long, so be prepared for that. It sometimes moves slowly, but not because of staff - tourists often don't follow directions and order the way they ask you to (burgers first, then sides, then drinks.) It's a regular burger place that is simple and easy. They have 100% Kauai grass fed beef. The patties come in 1/6 lbs. So if you get a half lb burger then you can expect 3 little patties. Okay, was a little skeptical of this place based on all the hit or miss reviews but we decided to give it a try to decide for ourselves. 1. Service - Outstanding. The gal at the front offered to split a milkshake for us when she saw we had 3 cranky kiddos arguing over each having their own. She asked their names, chatted with them while they sat on the barstools, and was so sweet. The other gals manning the grill were also so great and interactive with our kiddos. They promptly wrapped up their leftovers for us the moment they saw we were ready to get going. 2. Pricing - Is the food expensive? OF COURSE. For the other reviewers complaining about price, do you not understand you're on a tourist filled island? We live in the Seattle area and personally found the food comparatively priced to burger joints back home. All in all appropriately priced for great taste and awesome service. 3. Food - Burgers were awesome! You'll definitely want to order two as they are fairly small, but delicious nonetheless. We got ours with cheese added - they were juicy, hot, and flavorful. I had heard good (from residents) and bad (from Yelp) Now I have worked in and ran burger joints in my youth here on the mainland so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. Our order was as follows. 3 double Bubba's 1 Double Terry 3 orders of fries and 4 drinks. From the minute we got there to the food everything was perfect. Reasonable prices (Hawaii) friendly service and the food was hot and fresh. Kids ate their whole meal and my Terry burger was fantastic. My only complaint was that my son spilled his soda and they would only sell me another soda. Now if it was a can of soda I would understand but right off the soda machine? Really?
