Brought our family of 7 to celebrate our kid's birthday dinner.. wait wasn't long, food and portions was great.. when I first arrived, I brought an small ice cream cake to have the hostess put away in the freezer.. no problem there.. the problem was after dinner, I asked them to bring out the ice cream cake that I had purchased for my son.. they said there was additional $15 cake cutting fee???!!!! Wait.. are we booking a wedding?? Why is there a $15 fee to borrow their knife!! I understand they sell desserts too but so does all the other restaurants out there.. and I have never heard of a cake cutting fee.. whatever.. we said no thanks.. if we could just have them sing to him and we noticed other birthday celebrants had a scoop of ice cream when they sang to them.. so we figured at least he can have that before we head home to cut our.. WRONG AGAIN!! No ice cream was served to him.. just the big candle for him to blow out??? We felt pretty jipped considering we just spend almost $200 for 7 people.. I asked the hostess on the way out.. she said it was because we brought a cake.. but we didn't even open it!! So it's a punishment now to bring a cake! So, it's probably been about 10 years since I've last eaten at Bucas, and now I remember why I waited those 10 years to return. On 7/12/17 at 6:45, my family and I, (party of 4) entered in Bucas and were greeted by a very nice young lady. She politely said that it's going to be a 15 minute wait. Sure no problem, so we sat. As we waited, I had to use the restroom. Now this place, is pretty much a maze. It's compartmentalized so no one section is the same, or together. I eventually found the bathroom. As I'm coming back, I took a different way, purely by accident mind you, and noticed like 2-3 entire sections that were completely empty. They could've seated about 100 people easily. So I thought that odd to make us wait and they really aren't that busy?! I return to my family after a few wrong turns, to be pleasantly surprised that they had our table ready! So I didn't think much of the other open sections. We sit at our table and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, we were greeted by a 17-19 yr old bra. That's not a misprint, he was a bra. Not a bro, but a bra. Or at least that's what he called me. Because we waited for 20 minutes for drinks, we knew what we wanted before the bra showed up. As he's taking our order, I noticed he's not writing anything down. Fucking YIKES!!! This guy is already on something, and now he's going to remember 10 different things? Not a prayer. I kindly asked him to write this down please. "No way man, I got this" (Spacolli voice). When he leaves, I look at my wife and say, "this is going to be fucked." Man, I didn't even know the half of it. It's now 7:30. We were seated at 7. Still no drinks, bread, or the bra in sight. So finally at 7:45, he kinda runs past us, and I manage to stop the bra. I asked where's the drinks that we ordered 20 minutes ago? "Oh DUDE! My bad dog, I forgot, I'll bring them right now." He left and I looked at my wife, "see, fucked". 10 minutes later he arrives with drinks. But only my daughters is right, Cause she ordered water lol. But at this point I'm so hungry and thirsty, I don't protest. I'm afraid he'd take them away and we wouldn't ever see him again. With the drinks, came bread. Wow, he Remembered since that's their thing there, bread and oil and vinegar. The bread is ice cold, but again, no protest because we are all so god damn hungry! The time now is 8:15, just about an hour after we ordered. The bra shows up with one of our entree, singular, It's the stuffed chicken, but we ordered a small, (3 pieces) and he brought a large, (5 pieces). I did say something about this. His reply, and I'm quoting, " the kitchen is uber busy now bra, and they've been screwing orders all night, so looks like you get 2 pieces of chicken to grub on for free." Wow. So I said well as long as we are charged for the small. "Totally". And he walked away. I then turn to my wife and say, " eat slow, this is probably the last bit of food we are going to see for a while!" And I was spot on. My wife and I have a piece of the chicken on our plate, (my girls didn't want any) , and I'm getting g ready to cut into it, and the bra shows up again. "Dude, I'm so so so sorry, but this was for another table." He then takes the serving spoon that came with the dish, scooped up the chicken from both our plates, puts it back on the entree dish, and he and the entree walk off!!!!!! I'm pretty god damn sure that violates about 3 different health codes!!! At that point, my wife and I were just in absolute shock. I really expected Ashton Kutcher to jump out and say that I'm punked! I collected my family, and didn't even say a word and walked the hell out of that god forsaken place. What a shithole and what an experience. We went to California fish grill across the way and we eating inside 15 minutes. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP. Had a reservation at 8 pm, but didn't sit down till 825 pm due to the large parties tonight. Ordered 2 small spaghetti and meatballs, but they ran out of meatballs for the second spaghetti meal. As hard as it is to stay home, my family decided to support local businesses and ordered the Easter family meal that was being offered. We placed the order a couple days in advance. On the way to Buca, we get an email, 20 minutes before our scheduled pickup time, saying that our order could not be transmitted or processed and that we needed to call and confirm if our order could be processed. We didn't even receive a courtesy phone call for this mishap. After several attempts to call and speak to a live person, we either had our call recycled in the answering system or the call was dropped. We ended up having to find an alternative restaurant that was still open, so that we could still have an Easter dinner. I am very disappointed as I have been here many times. Very disappointing night. I'm used to Buca having good drinks and fairly good food, but we were certainly disappointed at this branch. We had reservations, but arrived early and our party of 4 went into the bar. First thing we noticed was that they were out of everything. No raspberries, a couple strawberries were left, No Grey Goose vodka. On top of being out of everything the bartender was loud and obnoxious. Not a bit friendly. Almost like we were inconveniencing her when we asked to get a drink. The other thing was all the drinks were weak. We had to ask for additional shots, and when we tasted these by themselves, we knew why. All their liquor was watered down. From the vodka all the way through the straight shot of tequila I ordered. Very disappointing We proceeded to our dinner, and that was not good either. My favorite, the chicken carbonara came out with a sauce that tasted like it had milk in it, not creamy and rich like it should of been. The chicken was dry and the dish had no flavor to it. You can eat family style and take leftovers home. Their chicken parmigiana is so filling... one of my faves and the lasagna! This was my worst experience, ever... I was there Friday evening (12/1) to celebrate my daughter's 23rd birthday. Although we were a party of 20, and paying w/different cards for one bill, because they don't provide separate tabs, it took the waitress ONE HOUR to sort charges/payments!!! Not only was she struggling w/figuring who paid what, she then told us we were $85.00 short, which after speaking w/the manager she then finds cash in her pocket she had forgotten to include. Needless to say, we were apparently now $38 short, according to the waitress, after she had charged credit cards & collected money for the bill. I've been a long-time customer of Buca di Beppo in Brea for around eight years. And this was the worst customer service I've ever received in all eight years. There was no one physically in the restaurant and they told us we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to be seated. After the 10 to 15 minutes was over I went to go ask them if we could be seated and they completely ignored me. I don't understand why I had to wait in the first place if no one was physically in the restaurant this was a Monday night no one was there. I am really disappointed in the service and the level of respect that the staff showed me I will never go back to this restaurant and I don't recommend anyone to come back here either. The chicken parmigiana was good, three good sized pieces. Spicy chicken rigatoni was also good, not a lot of chicken but tasty. Spaghetti with meatballs (two meatballs) which was 3-3.5 out of 5). We all had water and the bill came to about $121 and he didn't take the coupon off until I reminded him. All in all, $100 for a late lunch for my family is a bit steep for what we got. Hmmm where do I start? The restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon, they sat my family and I right next to the bar. No other customers on that side of the room, would've been nice and quiet except the employees were talking really loud amongst themselves and the blenders were loud as well. Anyway, our waitress was a little odd but nice, she had someone else bring out our drinks and the guy spilled my son's strawberry lemonade all over the table, thankfully didn't get any of us wet but did a terrible job cleaning it up, table was still wet and so were our placemats. So we ordered our food, had to ask for bread, maybe they figured since we bought garlic cheese bread we didn't need it? But she put the oil and vinegar as if she was bringing some and then acted surprised when I asked for the house bread. We weren't that hungry so for the 4 of us we ordered 2 small pastas which were actually pretty big. Our waitress made a remark about how interesting it was that we didn't finish the food. It just rubbed me the wrong way, why even comment on that? Anyways, the food was good, the cheesy garlic bread is a must! The spaghetti with meat sauce was just meat and spaghetti, hardly any sauce but still good. The fettuccine was great. Unfortunately my favorite place to eat brought me down to tears this past weekend. When my family and I decided to order the online Mother's Day Package. I live with family of 10+ ppl and I decided to have beautiful feast for my Family. I order the day before and first thing I did Sunday morning was call catering number that was provided with my confirmation email, to confirm my order. Buca indeed receive my order and insure that my order would get delivered at 6pm as scheduled. So I went ahead on my day and clean the house. Got Flowers and balloons and decorated our dining table for the feast. I told my family don't worry about dinner it will arrive. So it's now 5:30pm and I called just to make sure they are on the way but no one answers. It's now 5:45pm and I call again and still no answer. I'm thinking it's okay they are busy it's understandable. My family is ready and we're all just anxious for our food. It's now 6:30pm and still nothing at this point I'm now on Hold and finally after hour I get through just so they can tell me that my order was cancelled. I literally wanted to cry how and why this happen I have no clue. They apparently email me, which yes they did at 4pm but who is looking at there emails 24/7. They didn't even have the consideration to call. I ask to talk to the manager and I was on hold for 10min and then they hang up. I was so furious but at that point I needed to find solution. It was 7pm already and obviously most restaurant are not taking orders that big. We had to order Domino's Pizza instead. I gave that DP 5 star for coming through for me and my family. With tax the meal came out to $150 dollars. They neglected to add plates and forks (which standard for them to do), no bread, no parmesan cheese, no gorgonzola on our "GORGONZOLA" salad. It's a lot of money and you would expect them to at least get the basics right. I felt robbed from the amount and lack of attention to the order. The price is is worth the amount of food you're getting. It's Olive garden but with 3x the amount of food. but hey why compare it with olive garden when clearly we all know Olive garden is not authentic Italian cuisine; and don't get me started on the food. it's has such great bold flavor and the pasta is cooked perfectly. we were even discussing that we can taste the garlic. Most restaurants hold back on garlic because it can be overpowering and most customers don't like that but this place knows just how to make it work. but if you really hate garlic then just be careful. This place has a nice homey feel and you feel authenticity dripping from the walls with the cute decor. Service was very nice. my first visit I unfortutnaly forgot the name of our server but the next server I had was Marina. she was very nice and quick with our service! She's a mind reader aswell! we ordered the shrimp Florentine and spicy chicken rigatoni both small. now that's already a lot of food for 2 people and I really wanted a salad but didn't want to order their salad due to their shared portions. Marina however suggested that we could order a single portion. it was perfect!
