My brother absolutely LOVES CAVA and comes here every other week. I hadn't never been here and we were on our way to Vegas so we decided to stop by and he would redeem his birthday coupon. They are located in downtown Brea in a very popular area with not enough parking spots at almost any time of day so keep in mind that you may need to walk a bit to get here. There are some shared tables on the outside and indoor seating. This is a fast casual restaurant where you queue and order as you go down the line and the build up your food. The staff were friendly and helpful explaining me how it works. I got a bowl with chicken and grilled veggies and added a few things. Overall I felt like the food was pretty healthy and filling. I was only able to eat half and saved the other half for later. They offer to go orders, delivery and pickup only. They have an area where they place the orders that are ready. I had eaten at this location in the past and each time I was pleased, however this particular time I was not happy at all!!!!! We were not greeted, I let that slide I decided to try the "Salmon" below you will see the food which I was "VERY DISAPPOINTED" the serving amount was extremely small. When I mentioned it to the server she just looked at me like I should have just been thrilled with what I was given...The food didn't look appetizing at all!!!!! I also had to wait almost 15 minutes extra to make sure the salmon was cooked properly...... I went into the ladies room and it was DISGUSTING ( the pictures are below) I've never seen the restroom this filthy... after experiencing this I will NOT BE RETURNING. I finally tried Cava after hearing all the hype. Not sure what I got since my family brought it home but it was a salmon bowl. They told me what was in it over the phone and it sounded promising. When I ate it, I saw it was a small thin piece of salmon on a large bed of argula (not really a fan of argula) at the bottom so it looked like more, and TINY bits of corn, rice, dill yogurt, hummus. It basically tasted like a fishy argula dill bowl. Trust me, the Kabob shop is a thousand times better with generous portions in their protein bowls for a better price. It was my first visit at Cava today and it was very disappointing experience. The server who took my order was Ryley and she was just so mean and rude the whole time. Since this was my first visit, I'm not sure if their portion is always small or it was that server. Cava is Mediterranean food with a build-your-own meal style system similar to Chipotle. After visiting, I can see why so many people I know speak favorably about this place. Customized bowls seem fairly priced at $12.95 given the quality and quantity of food you receive. The price does jump up considerably once you start adding extras or premium items (like the Harissa Honey Chicken for an extra $1.95). I think the best thing to do is just stick to the normal selections. All the dips and sauces you add end up coating everything and dominate the flavors in it (also they do offer a harissa dip and a harissa vinaigrette dressing anyway). I like how fresh the ingredients are and the generous size of the bowl. It's good but I don't think it's worth waiting in a long line for. This day they offered free Pita Chips with orders. I know this sounds odd but they tasted just like Keebler's Club Crackers. I do think they should have eased up on the salt and pepper seasoning a bit. Ordered online for takeout for lunch and I made my own bowl! When I got there, my bowl was ready pretty quick based on the time I put online. Worker who served me was kind and friendly. My bowl was delicious!! I got the chicken with all the toppings that I like. To be honest, I was not a fan of Cava before, I don't know what was wrong with me. It def grew on me though. It's also very affordable! About 13 bucks for a great portion of food for lunch, so worth it! Since I work close to this Cava location, I'll be coming back at least once a week for a high-quality chicken bowl. read more

There is a new Cava located in Brea and their interior is all brand new and so beautiful! I've heard mixed reviews about there are long waits during rush hours. I did not want to take chance so I placed my order online so I can just come pick it up. I got the grains chicken bowl with saffron rice and 2 sides. I must say the 2 sides look like 1 side lol - they are small portions! I'm glad I did the online order because there was a long line when I arrived. I loved how all the orders are neatly placed with your first and last name on the pick up shelves so it's a grab and go when you arrive. This was my second time at this location and both times the wait was too long. The garlic ranch pita chips were extremely salty and inedible. I also got regular pita chips and both were soft in the middle and not crunchy. I love salt and if I found it salty it's definitely salty! My meal overall was mediocre. **DISAPPOINTED VISIT** Every Friday after volleyball practice my daughter ask to go to Cava for a Kid's Pita so I take her here for dinner. Today Jan 9 Upon ordering we were told that policy change and that kids pita is now 1/4 a Pita instead 1/2. And that the fried pita chip or carrots is no longer included. The physical menu has not change (this is what we were told is the way now ). My daughter was hungry and still wanted it. But this is a sad cost saving at the expense of children. What is even the company cost saving of 1/4 pita and 2 chips? This is the absolutely terrible policy. Please reconsider your policy. Finally checked out the cava that opened up in Brea not long ago. I was a bit concerned because of all the mixed reviews, but I had a very positive experience. I got there around 1:30, so it was still very much a a lunch rush crowd. The service was great, the person who took my order was courteous and helpful when I asked about the different options etc. think of this place as the Mediterranean version of chipotle. Build your bowl and choose the ingredients and toppings you want. The bowl itself was tasty, for my proteins I got half chicken and half roasted veggies. I'll Cava what she's having! I would 1000% recommend this location. Let me set the scene- my girlfriend and I came after working out for a light healthy meal at 9:30pm. We're both tired from work and the gym and just want to grab some food and go. To our suprise, incredibly friendly staff greet us an hour before closing and help us get our food super fast. Unfortunately I didn't get their name, but our staff member was incredibly jacked (bonus) and equally as friendly when serving us. Not only did he let us know what has been popular, but did it with a smile and great energy. 5/5 for service, and 5/5 muscles. For the bowls you can have a Greens & Grains bowl, a Salad bowl, or a Grains bowl...this is your base. There are many greens and grains to choose from. For a Pita you just select pita. **Then you pick your stuff that goes on top of your base or in your pita, to include dips and spreads, main proteins/veggies, toppings and dressings. I usually make my own bowl. This location is fairly new, found right next to the corner bakery and Starbucks behind Downtown Brea birch street. Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. The line was decently long (about 5 parties deep) and there were plenty of staff members working the line and the kitchen. They must have been busy because they were out of all the meats except for their new hot harissa chicken, so we had to wait just a bit (but it was no more than a few minutes so no big deal) They were also out of some other items such as their roasted veggies which was a bummer. The staff however was super friendly, attentive, and you can tell they are a new location because they've still all got that eager beaver energy lol. They were also out of their normal cutlery so they put out small white plastic forks in the interim (but they were a bit too flimsy so it made mixing our bowls a little difficult) Overall, this is a prime location for this Cava (I believe it replaced a pizza chain, maybe blaze?) and I think it's a much welcomed addition to the Downtown Brea area for locals! read more

What are the chances TWO Cava's open in North OC around the same time? Amazing. I have been skeptical about visiting after reading some of the reviews so we pushed pause on coming until recently, hoping the kinks have been worked out. Placed an order through the Cava app to avoid waiting in line at the store since it was peak dinner hour. Thankful I did as there was a continuous line of at least 5-7 parties during a Friday evening. The wait time for food pick up was roughly 15 minutes though it did take a tad bit longer. Ordered my usual grains + greens bowl ($12.50) and my usual fixin's - super greens, basmati rice, hummus, red pepper hummus, harissa, grilled chicken, fire roasted corn, pickled onions, tomato+onion, cabbage slaw, garlic dressing on the side, and side pita. Food quality and portions were up to par with the other Cava locations I've been to so no complaints. Appreciated a separate area for staff to prepare pick up orders so it doesn't hold up those ordering in person. The girl working the take out area was quick and efficient building the bowls. Only tiny gripe was the gentleman who came to help her with our second bowl - he was moving considerably slower, stopped making the bowl to chat for a bit and then forgot our side pita with our order. The Brea Gateway plaza has gotten some pretty busy with new eateries opening so you might have to park a bit further from the restaurant. read more

I don't know why the 3 stars but this place is bomb!! The food was very delicious with different options of proteins to choose from! I got the steak mezze salad with dill dressing which it was great! They added a good amount of steak and the greens were fresh and colorful. Customer was nice as the cashier was very pleasant and happy which made me happy. The wait was not bad.
