This is Festa week for BTS ARMY so we got together for a week of festivities! BTS dined at Buca's so it was one of our lunch stops. Everyone agreed the food was very tasty and the desserts were out of this world. I had the salmon with linguine and roasted cherry tomatoes. Mine was delicious and the tomatoes were especially flavorful, don't ask why but for me it was awesome. A friend had egg plant parmigiana with green beans and she left nothing on her plate. She loved it. I couldn't believe how much she had, it was huge. One of our party added tiramisu and it was great. It was so huge we had 2 tables sharing it. We later learned that it was our server's first day and to handle a table of 14 on your first day he did great. The restaurant is really cool with several rooms for groups to feel they have the restaurant to themselves. They have a lunch menu but you pay per table, no individual tabs. Dinner is the same so know that going in. We added the tax and gratuity, divided by the number of people and added the cost of the individual meal purchased, easy peasy. Went on a Saturday night and there was not a lot of people. I remember when weekends would be packed full of people. I do like how the restaurant is decorated and the red booths. It would be nice if they would dim the lights a little so that it could feel cozier. The host was very friendly and sat us as soon as we arrived. It took a while for the waiter to take our orders and for our food to arrive. I was surprised since there was not a lot of people dining in the restaurant. The waiter was friendly but did not come around often to ask if we needed anything. I had to ask staff for extra napkins and red pepper since I could not find our waiter. I always like to order the ravioli with meat sauce and chicken Parmesan. The food was delicious but I think you get more bang for your buck if you order the ravioli since the chicken parm does not come with spaghetti and only three pieces of chicken. Each entree was around $40. Not bad considering that it is enough to feed two or more people. read more

Gross place. Hadn't been here for years and stopped by to have ceasar salad and pizza and it was purely disgusting. The salad was extremely salty which wasn't even edible and they still charged an arm and a leg for it after shared concern. The pizza was soggy and over powering sauce. Location 3: Busy Ventura Blvd in Encino, CA in SFV. Metered street parking available but hard to come by. Private lot tends to get full on weekends. Side-street parking is for residents only and requires a permit. Venue 4: Typical Buca di Beppo setting attempting to depict old Italy. It's a maze of busily decorated rooms that are reached from the reception and bar area by walking through the kitchen. The Pope table (which is at most if not all Buca's) is very popular with the patrons (you can see it in the pics). The separate bar is large and friendly. They seem to attract large gatherings due to the fact that portions are huge and filling, which really works out well for large parties. Service 3: Service is about average. Friendly but not attentive. They tend to get busy with large tables and forgot about the others. We were seated in one of the rooms with two large and loud parties and as a result we got little attention from the server. Food 3: This sounds cliche, but food used to be better :) Most everything comes in 2 portion sizes; Regular which can already feed 3 people or large that can feed about 5-6. Prices aren't low but again portions are huge. Dishes are American Italian comfort food (pastas and chicken mostly), nothing too fancy or sophisticated. I personally like the huge, gooey Lasagna and the Chicken Parm. Some other pastas like the Fettuccini Alfredo or the Cheese Ravioli are too saucy and overwhelming for me. Drinks 4: They have a full bar and some interesting, creative cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks. Reasonably priced. The Last Word 3: Buca is one of the places that I leave thinking I won't be coming back, but after a while I do :D A nice convenient spot to satisfy your comfort food craving. Yeah, the place has some of the best dish I've tried. The inside was very phenomenal and beautiful to see. Service was very nice to us and was quick to give us our dish. The shrimp was kind of overspiced, but despite it all, the calamari was good, the bread was well soft, and the margherita pizza was very tasty. Definitely worth the trip. 8.5/10 read more

I used Buca di Peppo do cater a large holiday event at my warehouse in Burbank. We needed to feed 350 people, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! First, i work directly with the management team at the restaurant to ensure they could accommodate our numbers and schedule, and found them to be extremely professional and easy to work with. If this was all routine, you wouldn't know it because they made me feel like ensuring our enjoyment was their main focus. The food arrived on time, and every thing was hot and look divine. The meals were delicious, and I had 350 associates raving about how great the food was. I had a plate for myself, and they weren't wrong - the food was delicious and it tasted like it was prepared with love and care. Buca is one of those places that feels incredibly unique and frozen in time, even tho it's a chain and every single location looks more or less the same. It's definitely an experience to dine here with friends, with their large family-sized portions, it's great to bring large groups here for a meal. In my most recent visit, we were seated somewhere in the lower level, so it felt like we were a bit tucked away. The service was a bit slow but when we did receive service, the server friendly and helpful. Kudos to the chain for consistent QC as I do not believe a thing has changed for better or worse since my very first visit to a different location in Northern California 20 years ago! It was exactly the same!! I know there have been new items added to the menu but given how infrequently I come here, none of it was noticeable. They did have a separate printed menu for vegetarian/vegan and gluten free options. I'd like to add that no special items were added to the menu for those with dietary restrictions, it's just a simplified menu showing options with certain ingredients removed. If you're gluten-free, you really only can have salad and meat. If you're gluten-free and vegan, salad is your only option. It would be nice to see some additional things added to the menu like a gluten-free substitution for at least the pasta and a sorbet on the dessert menu so the lactose intolerant folks (which is 2/3 of our population) can enjoy a sweet treat without consequences. It feels awful not being able to order a single dessert after the meal is done. This is a great place for parties so long as no one in the group is allergic to dairy or gluten. Fine for vegetarians who are ok with butter and cheese. Our party enjoyed the food. The portions were huge for sharing, well made, flavorful and fresh. The meatball was a hit. The vegetarian & vegans split a salad and penne pasta with red sauce, cheese on the side for those who can have it. Our gluten-free friend had a salad and a side of italian sausage. Came here Sunday night around 6:45. Made reservations 10 minutes prior on Yelp. We were immediately seated. Our server Nick was wonderful. He was pleasant and served us extremely quick. Within 10 mins of being seated, we had our drinks, appetizer and their complementary bread. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer. For entrées we ordered the Cesar salad, lasagna, and lemon chicken. We made the mistake of ordering the large calamari for two of us. It was huge. However, absolutely delicious - perfectly seasoned and flavorful. They were tender on the inside and perfectly crispy and lightly fried on the outside. The Caesar salad dressing was creamy and good but it didn't really taste like a traditional Caesar salad. It lacked the slight bit of anchovy flavor I like in my Caesar. Nevertheless, it was tossed well with the right amount of dressing, croutons and Parmesan cheese. The complementary bread was warm, soft in the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Absolutely perfect. The chicken breast in the chicken lemon was perfectly cooked, however, I thought the lemon sauce was a tad sweeter than I would have preferred. The capers didn't stand up to the sweetness of the sauce, but definitely tender and juicy. As for the lasagna, their marinara sauce is really flavorful. I also loved the flavor of the cheese. I just wish it was a bit less meat but Maybe I should have ordered a lasagna without the meat. Nevertheless, it was good. Omg!!! The Italian crème cake was absolutely incredible. So soft with the right amount of sweetness. The ratio of cake to filling was just perfect. My take away from my visit at Buca is the more people you come with, the better. Their family sized portions are simply too big for just two people - to no fault of the restaurant, of course. Next time I visit, I'll bring my entire family. Service was excellent. Buca di peppo has great food and is perfect for families! It's a loud and very fun place to come for a celebration. Their parking lot is small so it gets full pretty quickly around dinner time but you can find street parking if that's an issue. We came here on a Saturday night with a reservation and had no problem getting seated within 5 minutes. Their food is great but I will say they give huge portions and are very pricey (I.e. a large salad is over $40). Each portion is for at least 2-3 people so plan to eat family style. I would definitely recommend coming here. It is also great for kids! read more
