For the second time, we enjoyed a large family meal at this Buca, 12 adults, ten children (ages 5-16) including three teenage boys and had a great dining experience. This is now our go-to restaurant when we can gather to eat. The food was tasty, reasonably priced, ample quantities and served promptly and hot! Buca has a great selection of Italian dishes for all tastes. I can't say enough about our server (Lauren Littlefoot) who was attentive, thorough, accurate and unfailingly kind and considerate to all of us! As a group we were a huge challenge to serve and she simply did a great job and made our meal more fun by her positive attitude and professionalism. Thank you, Buca and especially Lauren! I had to go to Bucas as they sent a great coupon for a decent discount and they were offerening free pasta take and bake. I went for the breaded chicken with prochuto and cheese. It provided 3 breast's for the small. Buccaneers has very generous servings for even smalls. I figured the chicken would be more trainable than the pasta. I also got a peroni and as a bonus they had 5 dollar house wine cups too. The service was very good during this visit. As I was getting pasta to go I also added a huge 1/2lb meatball and chocolate cake for dinner latter on. Without a coupon the food tends to be expensive but I will say you'll get multiple meals out of most any menu item unless there 6 of you. I had brought the leftover pasta and ate it with the meatball and cake for dinner two days later. Still tasted great. So quite happy with the visit. I would note though they changed the fresh bread recipient. I am not sure what they did but it's not the same as a few years back. The old bread was very homemade and was great. This place never disappoints. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful people, and amazing food! We chose the Buca small meal for 4 adults because we were not super hungry. We chose the quadro Al forno meal and added a house salad. We also ordered some garlic bread bread. Everything was cooked perfectly and the pasta was absolutely amazing! The fresh flavors abound at every bite. The service was very good with just the right attentiveness. They also did a good job with social distancing as well as all servers wearing masks. Just go to the store and make your own. It will taste so much better and be easier on your wallet. I received a gift card for this restaurant and decided to take my family out for lunch. The food was very underwhelming. I don't mind paying for good food but this was not worth the price. $144 later and 80% of our food was left on the table because no one would eat it. That is saying a lot especially when we had three teen boys with us that eat everything but even they have standards. We should have known it would be bad when we entered the restaurant to see multiple people waiting to be seated, no hostess in sight, and multiple boxes stacked waiting to be put away. Due to diet restrictions I asked if I could get a grilled chicken, and the server suggested chicken limone, which would be baked. The children appeared to be boiled, awful. Our party of 12 dined here tonight and they sat us in a booth/table split, but it felt like we weren't dining together because it was three tables and one long booth. Not sure why we weren't seated at the table behind us for 12 people. It was open the whole time we were there. Anyways, there wasn't enough room for all of our dishes, and we felt like we were constantly having to make room for all the plates, drinks, and bowls. Two guests spilled their drinks trying to make room. The biggest complaint was that we got our appetizers and salad but a few minutes after getting our salads, several servers came out with our dinners! We had just started eating and had nowhere to put the entrees. So they took them back to the kitchen. By the time we were ready for the entrees, the food was luke warm at best. And it was cold by the time the dishes were passed around and plated. Our server was very nice and attentive. He did forget to bring our bread, but we eventually got it after asking again. Not a huge issue seeing he got everything else right and was always around to see what we needed. Our bill was almost $500 before the tip, which was way more than we expected. They must've increased their prices drastically since the last time we were there. We paid $13 for a plate of green beans and $24 for three meatballs. Yes, the meatballs are good, but $8 for each meatball is pretty excessive. We will probably return in the future but definitely won't be back for a large party. read more

I'm not on to typically review large chain restaurants but I wanted to share a tasty vegan option at Buca di Beppo. I ordered the spaghetti with marinara sauce with olives and capers with no cheese or butter, which they don't come with anyways. As well as the bread on the side which is vegan. I wish they but this on their menu, but anyways it is easy to order. We ordered to go and had so many leftovers. It was simple but very tasty at the same time. I had read something only to order this and I didn't regret it one bit. It's a lot less boring than just tomato sauce and pasta. Anyways, another tip is to get on the mailing list to your email. The portions are humongous and the place is packed with Italian photos and memoir of all kind! For a chain restaurant, this place can definitely have a swipe off my bank card again! A nice benefit of the ambience is the following: The 12 year old wants to know about Americana shown in photos on the walls. I recommend the following for 7th grade girls: 1. The 'fredo is superb! 2. Antipasta salad is magnificent. 3. The fried Mac n cheese is out of this world. Finally, I don't waste my calories on soda when I dine here. A friend and I went to Buca Di Bepo back in 2011 when we moved to Indiana. We had the fried calamari, and I don't remember what else. The fried calamari was really good! Fast forward to this evening, I got the fried calamari and stuffed shells. The stuffed shells were really good! But the fried calamari was very chewy and a bit fishy tasting. This particular Buca Di Beppo, I remember back in the day when we used to get this really good and HOT Focaccia Bread. Now, when you get bread, it's barely sliced enough to just grab, and it's COLD and chewy with NO flavor...gross!!! In the old days you didn't have to ask for olive oil and balsamic for dipping, but now you have to ask for it. We ordered for a starter, the Mozzarella sticks. They are 15 bucks for 6 small triangles, that weren't even hot. It irritates me that this is passed off from the test kitchen as "good quality and satisfaction for consumers". What a rip-off!! We then ordered a create your own pasta with mushrooms, meat sauce, and meatballs with poached garlic. Between the both of us, we barely even noticed the garlic at all. I don't think garlic should be poached for this, instead it should be sautéed or roasted. It irritates me that this is was is considered standard and good quality at this Buca! The Parmesan cheese I remember used to be grated from a block! Now it's this crap from wood chippings that has no flavor of Parmesan whatsoever. I took a drink of water to cleanse my palette just to taste it, and it was bland as all get out. Not the kind of experience I wanted and it's sad because I used to like this Buca. I don't know if I ever want to go back. This must be the trend now....pay more for less, and the LESS= bad quality!!!! Shame on you Buca Greenwood, IN!!! Buca period!!! read more

The bartender was inappropriate and unprofessional. The most inappropriate thing he did was pick up a knife like Mike Meyers and make a stabbing motion directed toward us. Save your money and go somewhere the staff appreciates patronage. I took my friends here from out of town because we wanted authentic tiramisu. We decided to go to the bar because we did not want to order a full meal. I have been a waitress for a long time and know the conversation servers have behind customers' backs. Unfortunately, the inappropriate behaviors that servers sometimes exhibit behind closed doors were happening right in front of our faces. After saying we were only getting dessert, the female bartender laughed and handed the male bartender the menus (this is because they rotate tables; he got the dud table that is not ordering full meals, made of females, and the assumption is females don't tip as well). We ordered coffee and the bartender didn't bring us cream and sugar. My friend asked him for cream and sugar; he looked at me and in an irritated manner said "Do you need that too". I said no. He was obviously irritated that he had to go in the back to get cream and sugar. However, he should have brought it without us having to ask. Alternatively, he could have done his job correctly, initially and asked us if we wanted cream/sugar when we ordered the coffee. This would have prevented him from having to make two trips. That would be smart, efficient, and professional so I wouldn't have expected that from him. Then, the male bartender allowed my friend to order a large caprese salad without explaining that large feeds 5 or more (We were 3 girls). The Caprese salad was so terrible that of the 5 pieces in the small order, we only ate 3. If we would have ordered a large we would have about 7 pieces left. When my friend said large, the male bartender looked over at the female bartender and gave her a sly grin, like haha got them. I stop the bartender and let him know I used to work there. I then asked him to explain how many people a large order is intended to feed. I wanted to let him know he couldn't oversell us by not explaining to a new customer how the portions work. We got an appetizer and a dessert. We didn't get a plate for our dessert. We had to use our napkins to wipe off the salt and olive oil from our appetizer plates to eat our tiramisu. He was right in front of us and watched us do this. Despite seeing this, he did not offer us clean paint for dessert. At one time, the manager came by and saw that the bartender did not give us utensils to cut our dessert with and asked us if we wanted a knife. After rationalizing with one another whether we needed a knife, we ultimately said NO we do not need a knife. Despite saying we didn't need it, the bartender still brought the knife and aggressively threw it on the bar next to me. He brought us a knife we DIDN'T NEED but couldn't manage the plates, sugar/cream, or coffee refill WE DID NEED. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we never got a refill on coffee. After we were done for about 15 minutes we were still sitting there socializing. It was then, that the bartender picked up the knife he cuts limes with and started making a stabbing motion towards us. I know that was directed towards us and I addressed it with my friend. She was trying to ignore the unprofessional behavior but I was mortified that I had suggested such a place. There were other small micro-aggressions that the male and female bartender engaged together directed towards us but we're not as obvious as some of the ones noted. In addition, I was going through a rough time and we were trying to find somewhere peaceful and safe for us to talk about the issues that are going on in my life. This was anything but peaceful and safe. It was a disaster and the bartender should be ashamed of himself for his behavior. I doubt that he'll feel ashamed of himself. His entitlement probably gives him a sense of pride for acting this way. This is a note, he is not entitled to us ordering a full meal or paying his rent. I was a server at this exact same buca and it is true that I didn't make very much money. However, I wouldn't treat people like that. read more

Had Valentine dinner with my husband here, we hadn't been here in a long time and decided to give it another try, Mixed salad was good, bread was good, did not like the balsamic vinegar in the olive oil mixture, we ordered the chicken marsala plate, it had 3 pieces of chicken with portobello mushrooms and a marsala reduction sauce that I thought was way to sweet, did not come with any sides unless you order separately. They even bagged up all the leftovers for us to take home, so no food was wasted! If you are looking for a place for your wedding rehearsal dinner, this is a great option. Everyone is obsessed with this place and while it is very nice, I haven't had any super delicious food. I suppose it can be affordable since the dishes come out as meals to be shared. FOr example, spaghetti for two people is $20 and the portions are large enough that it could easily feed 3 people. The spaghetti sauce has a slightly sweet taste to it but still tasty. The meatballs are giant!! But I prefer spaghetti sauce that is thick so to me it is nothing special. Do be sure to request extra sauce. The garlic cheese bread as an appetizer is tasty but even a small basket requires probably 4 or more people to eat. I sampled a couple other chicken dishes and it was all solid, but overall the place is rather pricey. However, I think folks like it for the walls that are decorated inch by inch with pictures and how the restaurant is signed for large groups. Perhaps I need to try more complex dishes to truly see if I like this place. I'd go back, but usually with a groupon or generous human :) read more

Buca is known for being higher end Italian and is somewhat pricey, so my boyfriend and I figured it would be the perfect spot to check out for our anniversary. We enjoyed the dinner, but are unsure what all the hype is about. We kind of expected more from the experience. We made reservations and said it was for an anniversary. We didn't expect anything free out of it, but we did expect ... some sort of acknowledgment. Our server was good at getting us everything promptly, but socially she just wasn't there. We told her it was our first time there. She wasn't super friendly and didn't acknowledge it being a special occasion. I don't even think the message got relayed to her. Kind of disappointing. Don't ask if a reservation is for a special occasion if it will be brushed off. They did write it on the chalkboard up front though. I had the sparkling sangria -- fun and yummy drink! It's huge and has a bottle of Rosé tipped over in it, like the corona margarita type drinks. He had a mule and said it just tasted like soda. My drink was $14 and his was $10 yet mine was probably triple the size. It didn't seem like fair pricing. He was glad it was made with Tito's vodka though. We had the spicy shrimp appetizer and it made the whole meal worth it. It was insanely good and we highly recommend it! We had the chicken and spicy sausage ziti as our entree-- the small entree is big enough for 2 to share and still have leftovers. It was good but underwhelming. It was primarily noodles. We barely found any meat in it. The meal also comes up with bread and an oily dip. Good bread but we were not a fan of the oil -- it did not have a good flavor to us and was more runny than others we have had. Overall, it was a good restaurant, but for the expensive price and for a special occasion we expected more. We didn't find it to be much different than any other Italian restaurant that is at a fraction of the price. I haven't had Buca Di Beppo's food in years, but I remember it being very good. So I was really surprised to not enjoy my visit here last weekend. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy and we were seated quickly. The waitress was kind, attentive and paid attention to us. I didn't have to ask for drink refills and she was overall very good with her service. Now the food itself was the big disappointment. We ordered the chicken parmesan, fettuccine alfredo, broccoli and cheese bread Florentine. There were three of us and the portions were large, even with the small size. We got the complimentary bread first with the balsamic/olive oil mix. The bread was cold but we were so hungry we ate it anyways. Next came our cheesy bread Florentine which was also cold and covered in a gloopy, flavorless cheese. The chicken parmesan was OK, it also came out a little cold. The broccoli too was cold but OK. Lots of garlic on top but it was boiled so it didn't have a strong flavor. The fettuccine Alfredo was the biggest disappointment... It was just gloopy and flavorless. Something was not right about that sauce. For an Italian place, that just isn't right. If this were a cheaper restaurant, I probably wouldn't be this harsh but for how much you pay here the food should not be at this quality. The theme seemed to be cold and bland.
