So excited to have found this little gem literally located across the street from the beach! The food and service were awesome it was so chill here. This is a very casual place super small with a few long picnic tables for sitting. Me and my fiancé shared a smoothie and breakfast burrito both were yummy and we spent only like $15. The cashier was nice and the lady making our drink. The food came out fast and my little one loved the fries haha! Overall I will be coming back forsure what I love is the ability to just walk to the beach we weren't beach ready but me and my family put our feet in the water. Still the same old staples here Buck Muff and country potatoes. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Now the real difference now is that they are selling doughnuts made by a guy that calls his operation, "Doughside". This was, without hyperbole, the best doughnut I have ever had. We love stopping by Buccaneer Beach Park, since it's not as crowded as the rest of the beach area in Oceanside. I literally had never noticed there was a cafe out there, until last week. We didn't have time to stop and get anything, but a woman who saw us looking at the menu said everything was delicious. This past Saturday, we had some extra free time, so we decided to take in some beach views and grab some brunch. I had the Vegan Breakfast Burrito, and it was seriously the best vegan breakfast burrito I've ever had, no exaggeration. I haven't always been mostly plant-based, and I tend to miss having eggs in my breakfast burritos. This one was filled with JUST egg, rice, greens, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, cilantro, and soyrizo (which you can add for a $0.50 upcharge). The soyrizo wasn't unnecessarily spicy, and the flavors just came together to make a nice little party on my taste buds. The burrito itself is HUGE, so I was only able to finish half, and ate the second half as my lunch later on. Although the location is right of the beach and perfectly placed behind the local park. The Buccaneer Cafe has little no seating. The customers service was non existent. After you purchase your meal. They don't give you a ticket nor do they put prices on the menu. After you purchase your over Priced meal. They don't call out your number from your ticket because they do not give you one. They butcher your name or a name that sounds like yours till you get the courage to go ask. My smoothie the " Matcha Antioxidant " not only was the lid clearly made for a boba straw. They give you a pencil lead style's straw. Even then I finished my beverage before I got my food. And the establishment was not busy. The complementary water tasted as if they took the salt out of the ocean water and put it in a cup. The " Kitchen Sink " an average sized burrito. It was an 3 meat burrito, all 3 meats were over cooked. The eggs felt undercooked and the tortilla was extremely stale one could definitely tell it was not properly stowed away correctly. I ordered tea thinking in sunny/hot California it was going to be iced tea it does not say on the sign the tea is hot or cold but I shouldn't have assumed it was going to be cold because I ended up getting hot tea and the older blonde woman who I'm guessing is the manager had attitude with me because I mentioned to her that I thought the tea was going to be cold and that it does not say it on the sign it just says "tea" and when I asked for cold tea instead she looked up at me and said sure in a way that it bothered her ? As I'm waiting for my drink to come out she talks about me to her employees as if I did something wrong when I mentioned that the sign is misleading and should changed it to say hot tea, again I just mentioned it nicely to make sure people know the tea is hot and don't get it when it's sunny and hot outside. Did not appreciate the attitude she threw and the trash talking to her employees about what I said. Not very good for business to talk trash about people that are standing right there. Buccaneer Cafe is a great option for a quick bite to eat anytime you are in area. It obviously has a great location just steps from the beach. I recommend the bacon breakfast burrito with sour cream and avocado for $9. It's pretty big and is sharable if you aren't too hungry. It comes with great green and red salsa. The breakfast taco with kaluha pork was so good. It was a huge portion and came with eggs, avocado, thinly shaved red onion, tomato slices, and lettuce on the side. I REALLY love this place! Keep in mind, they have a very laid back work style, which is great if you're not in a hurry. I came the other morning around 8:20a, and they were still getting ready to open! Their coffee is STRONG AND DELICIOUS. It has the best view to sit and enjoy your drink, and the food is actually REALLY good and affordable! I got the Bucc Muff with fries (fries are on the side, NOT on the sandwich ha!) and it was so tasty, everything else on the menu looks amazing. Iced americano was one of the strongest I've ever had, and my friend's vanilla latte was brewed to perfection- not too sweet, everything balanced PERFECTLY. Overall, it got VERY busy with tourists and regulars, be prepared to wait and not be in a hurry. Love this place great coffee and food right on the beach plus you have your stable of "I want to be a surfer" surfers hanging about but they're really just talking about nonsense which fits with the vibe of Oceanside I agree with some other reviews of I'm sitting here it's 810 am and they're still not open but if you're not in a rush like most people aren't in this town then it's a great place to grab a morning coffee and snack. read more
